Atย Close, we're building the sales communication platform of the future. With our roots as the very first sales CRM to include built-in calling, we're leading the industry toward eliminating manual processes and helping companies to close more deals (faster). Since our founding in 2013, we've grown to become a profitable, 100% globally distributed team of ~55 high-performing, happy people that are dedicated to building a product our customers love.
Our appโs frontend is a single-page JavaScript web app mostly written in React (originally built withย Backbone.js). We bundle with Webpack and target only modern browsers. We test with Jest and React Testing Library. Our UI updates in near real-time and is written in LESS/CSS (with flexbox and grid layout) using CSS modules and takes advantage of fun technologies like Websockets and WebRTC.ย
We care about performance (e.g. route-based code splitting), maintainability, and testability of our frontend code. We sweat the UI/UX details and work collaboratively with the Product team throughout the design process. This means diving into lo-fi Freehand wireframes, and communicating continuously when those ideas are brought to life using Figma and code.
Our frontend app is built on top of our REST API & GraphQL endpoints. Our backendย tech stackย consists of Python/Flask, MongoDB, Postgres, Elasticsearch, and Redis. We run our services in Docker on AWS.
We're looking for an experienced full-time (or part-time) Frontend Software Engineer to join our engineering team. Someone who has a solid understanding of web technologies and wants to help design, implement, and launch major user-facing features.
You should have senior level experience (~5 years) building modern frontend applications in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with at least 3 years of that experience using React.
You should have significant experience designing, debugging, and optimizing frontend applications to make them fast and reliable. You have significant experience with REST APIs and thoroughly understand HTTP requests. You have experience participating in code reviews and providing overall code quality suggestions to help maintain the structure and quality of the codebase.
You should have great product sense and be able to think through user experience issues before diving into the code, and you exhibit a love for great UI.
Youโre comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a small and talented team where you're supported in your efforts to grow professionally. You are able to manage your time well, communicate effectively and collaborate in a fully distributed team.
You are located in an Americas time zone. Not in an Americas timezone? Take a look at our other job postingย here.
Bonus points if you have...
Experience implementing real-time (e.g. websockets, polling, etc.) web apps
Experience working with GraphQL endpoints
An eye for design and experience with Figma, Sketch, Abstract, Photoshop, or similar
Led small project teams building and launching features
Contributed open source code (core or plugins) for a popular frontend framework such as React, Vue, or Angular
Built B2B SaaS products
Experience with sales or sales tools
Come help us with projects like...
Conceiving, designing, building, and launching new user-facing features
Working with Twilio's API, WebSockets, and WebRTC to improve ourย calling features
Building user-facing analytics features that provide actionable insights based on sales activity data
At Close, everyone has a voice. We encourage transparency and practice a mature approach to the work-place. In general, we donโt have strict policies, we have guidelines. Work/life harmony is an important part of our business - we believe you bring your best to work when you practice self-care (whatever that looks like for you).ย ย
We come from 16 countries located in 5 of the 7 continents -- looking at you Antarctica and Australia ;-) โฆ.. Weโre a collection of talented humans rich in diverse backgrounds, lifestyles, and cultures. Every year we meet up somewhere around the world to spend time with one another. These gatherings are an opportunity to strengthen the social fiber of our global community.
Our team is growing in more ways than one - weโve recently launched 17 babies (and counting!). Unanimously, our favorite and most impactful value is โBuild a house you want to live in.โ We strive to make decisions that are authentic for our people and help our customers become more successful.
Our application process was designed to promote equitable and unbiased hiring practices. We ask a small series of questions that are similar to what would be asked in the first interview. This helps us learn more about you right from the start so please be sure to answer each question thoughtfully. Each application will receive two screens by two different reviewers. Regardless of fit, you will hear back from us letting you know if we'll be moving forward.

Hi! We are IMG.LY! Our love for technology & design is the core of our work, and we continually bring that alive with every step in the community across industries. IMG.LY firmly believes in accessible, stunning design for everyone. That is why we have powered over 600 innovative startups, Governments, and Fortune 500 businesses with our SDKs. We are a fully remote company. That means: you manage your own time and place while we bring neat design tools to every corner of the world together! IMG.LY embraces a culture of flexibility, written documentation, open company communication, and collaboration. Choose your Batcave and join us on our mission!
What you will do:
Work on our newest flagship CreativeEditor SDK, a fully-customizable design editor that empowers our customers, and covers their design and template needs.
Ensure a user interface with a focus on usability, accessibility, and customizability with our design and product team.
Develop our in-house creative engine UBQ with our engine team. UBQ is a portable cloud-native runtime for creative editing implemented in C++ and compiled to WebAssembly for our web editor.
Discuss and implement APIs and interfaces, and create architectures to integrate our engineering smoothly on the web. Not only for our user interfaces but also for all customers who directly integrate our engine.
What skills you should have:
Eagerness to plan out new features in cycles by collaborating with your team and designing architecture in a balance between getting it done and not being a pain in future.
Know your tools โ a good grasp ofย TypeScriptย is highly desirable. If you are a JavaScript veteran, we are sure you will learn TypeScript quickly. Experience with a type-system is helpful.
Most of our UI is written inย React. Being experienced in React is helpful, but if you are fluent in another web framework, we are also sure you will learn this quickly.
Most importantly, you are eager to learn and happily share your knowledge and improvement ideas in code reviews and architectural discussions. Being able to receive and evaluate constructive feedback is equally essential to us.
A broad understanding of the web platform with its standards, how browsers tick and how to debug effectively.
Not a must, but a bonus in your skillset would be to have:
Have you already built an SDK or worked with WebAssembly? Do you not shy away from reading or even writing a line or two of C++? If you nod in agreement, we need to speak.
It would be a cherry on top if you loved building a positive relationship with your fellow engineers in the industry! Perhaps you enjoy speaking at conferences or sharing your wisdom in a blog, writing, and maintaining Open-source software. In that case, we certainly need to talk.

How the hiring process works After a 20-minute interview, we will provide you with a real problem we have encountered and work on it together. No theoretical buzz, just hands-on! We're an all-senior/staff dev team building the next gen of insurance that doesn't suck. We're looking for a product-minded engineer to join us. Steadily is a year and half old, 50 people-strong, and we recently announced our $30M funding round -- things are going swimmingly. \n\nBecause this isn't our first rodeo (2 prior exits), we're building Steadily to make a lasting dent in the universe. Here's how we operate: https://www.steadily.com/culture/\n\n## What Youโll Do:\n* Combine property intelligence for external sources to estimate how likely a property is to flood, catch on fire, or get vandalized\n* Create a claim app that uses phone camera and sensors to document the damage smartly\n* Construct a mobile experience for people to buy insurance that is so simple/intuitive that your least-tech savvy relative with a flip-phone could use it without help e.g. pass the Mom Test\n* Build rating engines for calculating how much an insurance policy should cost\n\n## What You'll Bring:\n**Experienced**: This isn't your first rodeo. There's no specific minimum number of years requirement, but we expect you to be able to dive into a complex codebase without too much spin-up. Past experience as a team lead is definitely a plus.\n\n**Builder**: You like the product-side of engineering and have thoughtful opinions on what the user experience should be. You're not the type of engineer who wants a fully-fleshed out spec thrown over the wall for you to code.\n\n**Pragmatic**: Let's say you have a tradeoff to make: Option A is to ship something fast using an off-the-shelf API on AWS; you won't learn that much and it only solves 80% of the problem, but it'll only take a few days. Option B is to invest about two weeks building a new library and internally-hosted service that perfectly solves the problem; as a bonus you can share it on Github and give a presentation about it at PyCon. If you choose Option A 10/10 then you'll be at home here.\n\n**Language-agnostic**: We don't really care if you've worked in our stack before as long as you're happy to learn it. If you're sharp enough to be on this team, you're sharp enough to learn any language or framework quickly.\n\n## Our Stack:\n* Python 3\n* Django\n* Postgres\n* Heroku (with full CI pipeline)\n* Redis / Celery\n* Kafka\n\n## Compensation & Benefits:\n* Starting at $250,000\n* Equity\n* 401K\n* Flexible Time Off \n* Health (HSA or FSA), vision, and dental insurance\n* Equipment provided\n\n## Why Steadily?\nAt Steadily youโll be able to work with other brilliant, driven teammates who care about doing the best work of their lives. We have high expectations of each other, but are dedicated to supporting each other in those expectations and making Steadily a huge success.\n\nIn order to do this, we believe in hiring top talent and encourage each team member to actively drive the culture we want at Steadily. This includes things like being light on processes where you manage your own workload. You know your job best, so we wonโt micromanage how you get the job done (we provide context, not control)! That said, weโre also highly collaborative and go above and beyond to make sure that weโre all on the same page and have the tools we all need to succeed.\n\nWorking at a startup isnโt easy, but it is incredibly rewarding. Youโll be able to see your actions directly impact the growth of the company, as well as your equityโs valuation, on a near-daily basis. The growth opportunity youโll have at Steadily will also greatly increase your career trajectory, giving you valuable experience that youโd be hard pressed to find anywhere else.\n\nWeโre excited to meet you! \n\nPlease mention the word **INVIGORATING** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMy4xNi4xMzcuMjE3). *Who we are:\n\nProcess Street is a no-code workflow platform startup from San Francisco. We help our customers build, document, automate, and track recurring workflows. Our platform stores knowledge where the action happens, ensuring thorough and error free execution of workflows that our global customers run their businesses on. \n\nWe service over 3k customers around the world, such as Airbnb, Spotify. AstraZeneca and Accenture, and are VC-backed by Accel, Salesforce, and Atlassian.\n\nProcess Street was founded on a strong belief in the work-life benefits of a healthy, collaborative remote culture. We value flexibility because many of us are parents, travelers, or just creatives who aren't inspired by the construct of a mundane 9-to-5. Spread across 9 different time zones, we communicate asynchronously, work autonomously, and take real ownership of our work. \n\nIf youโre entrepreneurial and seek an environment that values your effective creativity, congratulations, youโve found your new home!\n\n \n\nAbout You\n\n* You want agency. We practice the Shape Up process, and run 6-week cycles and 2-week cooldowns. For the 6-week cycles, PMs provide a problem statement and some guidelines โ no tickets, no detailed specs, no hi-fidelity solutions, and no estimates. Designers and engineers are trusted to craft the best solution possible in the cycle using user research, data, experience, and grit. During the 2-week cooldowns, you have the autonomy to work on what's important to you โ including code maintainability or making the team faster. If a lot of responsibility, freedom, and ambiguity sounds refreshing, this role is for you.\n* You're well-versed in JavaScript and React. Process Street is built on AngularJS, React, React Query, Redux, and Chakra UI. If you've hand-rolled JS micro-frontends or led the architecture of large React applications, you're an ideal candidate for this role.\n* You love to ship. We move fast. We deploy continuously behind feature flags, and release to customers at the end of every cycle. We utilize CI/CD and maintain ~70% test coverage.\n* You love process, but loathe meetings, bureaucracy, and ceremony. We think process is a tool. Used well, it makes us a better, faster team. But when it's not doing that, we drop it. We avoid unnecessary meetings whenever possible. A typical week for our engineers and designers has fewer than 5 hours of meetings.\n* You want to have a big impact. We're a small team and we're still early stage. We don't have designated areas of responsibility, and everyone wears the product hat. Every cycle brings new challenges, and your sphere of influence is wide. You love the variety and don't want to be shackled to a single project for years.\n* You have seven (7) or more years of experience in software development. We will hire in a range of levels for this position. So if the role excites you, and you have seven years of experience, but don't have the exact title listed here, you should apply.\n \n\nOur Benefits\n\n* Fully remote team โ No offices, no commute, check-in from a destination of your choosing!\n* Unlimited PTO policy โ Most take 3-4 weeks, plus their major holidays, AND a company-wide week off in December\n* Annual company offsite* (when not in a pandemic of course) In lieu of an offsite, we do encourage and sponsor small group meetups so that you can meet your teammates face to face around the world.\n* Social time โ We know human connections are what make teams strong. We regularly do coffee chats, game-playing, story-telling, house tours (only if you're comfortable), and more to build connections.\n* Generous health insurance for US employees and their families\n* Equity for all full-time roles \n\nPlease mention the word **FAVORITED** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMy4xNi4xMzcuMjE3). You'll form a key part of a team of developers building React-based components and applications to support our SaaS eCommerce and headless platforms.\n\nAs an example of what you'll be working on: we're building **headless eCommerce sites with Gatsby** and rich **interactive product customisers with Next.js on Vercel**.\n\nYou start your day in a team Stand Up discussing progress you made yesterday, listening to your team members describe their current issues and dropping some knowledge bombs on how you โsolved this last timeโ. Youโre working from home today, so you pay the pet tax and encourage your four-legged-friend wave to the camera before logging off.\n\nFirst up youโve got a pair-programming session with a Junior Developer in your team to help them through a tough search component that theyโve been working on. Theyโve been steadily improving under your experienced wing and are turning into a really productive team member.\n\nAfter lunch youโll set your Slack status and turn on Do Not Disturb for a couple of hours while you debug a weird issue with a customerโs site. Thereโs been a change to the out of stock logic recently to support multiple warehouses. You update your unit test suite to cover this unexpected scenario and tell the Project Manager the good news! You push your feature branch to Bitbucket and watch Bitbucket Pipelines build your artifact and prove that your tests pass.\n\nYour JIRA issue has automatically transitioned to โIn Code Reviewโ and you open your pull request, studying your diff carefully before assigning it to your team mate for a sanity check.\n\nTomorrow (assuming all is well!) youโll merge your pull request into a release branch and let Pipelines deploy it to Staging where it will be regression tested by the QA Team and their bank of automated tests. It should be out to Production by the end of the week, providing we can get through the testing and get client sign off by 2pm on Thursday.\n\n**If you read this and it sounds like your ideal job โ we want you on the team!**\n\n### What you'll be doing\n\nThe following should give you an idea of how youโll be expected to typically be spending your time. Itโs not set in stone and it may change from week-to-week, but it gives an idea of what is expected from the role.\n\n#### Software Development (80%)\n\nThe majority of your time will be spent working with your team to deliver software that meets the needs of our customers. This isnโt time that youโll spend entirely in your editor, thereโs stand up, sprint planning, scoping, architecting and designing that youโll take part in to make sure weโre building exactly what we need in the right way.\n\nGiven your experience, a portion of this time is expected to be spent assisting other team members in delivering their work effectively.\n\n#### Process and Tooling Improvements (10%)\n\nMaking sure that we donโt sit still and keep evolving the way we build and deliver software is a critical investment of time, particularly from a team member with your experience. Use this time to try that tool you read about and see if itโs worthy of being a part of our toolchain.\n\n#### Personal Development (10%)\n\nKeeping up with new software releases, development practices, horror stories and post mortems are an essential part of any Software Developerโs time! Use this time to push forward your objectives and research tools and techniques you need to stay productive.\n \n\nPlease mention the words **PELICAN ABILITY HAMSTER** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMy4xNi4xMzcuMjE3).
