Our goal is for every organization - from companies to governments to nonprofits - rely on Civis to drive the most targeted, transparent, and measurable audience campaigns on earth. \n\nWhat we are looking for\n\nWe are looking for an experienced IT Manager to maintain and build out a scalable internal IT program. At Civis, IT enables the productivity of our employees by ensuring they have the tools needed to perform their roles effectively and securely. IT administers hardware and software to employees, oversees IT office equipment in our Chicago office, enforces our data security policy, stays informed of new IT system-related security threats, and other day-to-day IT-related issues. The IT Manager will be responsible for managing internal IT support to all Civis employees and ensuring that their technology, and our office technology infrastructure functions efficiently and effectively. This position will be a part of our Chicago-based technology team. This is a hands-on management role in which you will tackle some tasks directly, while balancing team workload, engagement with other departments, and routine managerial duties.   • Guide clients through the process of discovery, research, information architecture, sitemap creation, and UX design, helping them make their own vital contributions to the project and creating an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

  • Lead the research and discovery process for our clients engaged in website, application, and interactive design projectsโ€”including conducting surveys, interviews, heuristic analysis, content audits, peer analysis, desk research, behavioral analysis, analytics review, asset review, group discussions, card sorting, tree testing, and other methods.

  • Work with the director of Strategy & UX to analyze and identify key themes and develop actionable insights from learnings in the research and discovery phases to build alignment and set the strategic direction for the project.

B2U Storage Solutions, Inc. (B2U) develops and operates large scale battery energy storage systems (ESS) utilizing EV batteries in stationary storage applications. B2U uses patented technology to deliver a 40%+ cost advantage and a superior Levelized Cost of Storage (LCOS) over competing systems. B2Uโ€™s hybrid ESS facility in Lancaster, CA has been operational since March 2020. B2U closed a $10M Series investment led by Marubeni Corp. in September 2021.ย 

Job Description

The Information Technology Project Manager will manage initiatives to enhance and evolve the companyโ€™s information systems architecture and interfaces between site-based systems and the cloud. This position requires both project management and direct hands-on database management, configuration and development. Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing internal and third-party resources with a primary initiative underway to migrate to Microsoft Azure and IoT Edge platform from GCP; work conducted by IT consulting firm
  • Manage company's Azure based information systems where project manager needs ability to work directly with database
  • Supporting companyโ€™s business intelligence capabilities to enhanced reporting and analytics capabilities. Company currently migrating from use of Qlik to Power BI
  • Evolving deployment of ticketing system for companyโ€™s TechOps personnel
  • Interfacing with the market facing systems that automate resource scheduling in wholesale markets
  • Close collaboration with Engineering on system diagnostics and real time dashboard capabilities for functional testing
  • Overseeing/Communicating with third party technology providers (e.g. SCADA consultants)

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5+ years in some combination of Software Engineering and IT Project Management
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field.
  • We canโ€™t predict every challenge ahead, but youโ€™ll thrive in this role if youโ€™re interested in and able to approach ambiguity with enthusiasm and a problem solverโ€™s mindset.ย 

Skills/Requirements

  • Strong IT project management experience
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Azure and IoT Edge platform
  • Hands-on SQL database skills
  • Experience with Kepserver, PowerBI, controllers such as SEL RTAC
  • Highly motivated self-starter, hands-on, team player
  • Excellent planning, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Thrives in entrepreneurial environment and able to perform in multiple capacities
  • Strong organizational skills; process oriented
