Remote Security Analyst for Infected Websites

We are the global leader in WordPress security, protecting over 4 million websites.\n\nWe're seeking a Security Analyst to work on an hourly contract basis from your home office in Australia or New Zealand from approximately 9-5 AEST Monday through Friday, with 100% availability during that time.\n\nThe contract rate for this role is $45 - $50 AUD per hour, depending on experience.\n\n\nCompany Culture\n\nYou'll work with a talented and highly-motivated team that is friendly, fast-moving, self-managing, and highly capable with a sense of humor. Our team's family time is important; we won't typically require long hours when we can avoid it, which is almost always. Our entire team works remotely using Slack for interaction, so you can live practically anywhere you have a good Internet connection. There's no micro-management here—we trust that you will see tasks through to completion and communicate with your fellow team members when needed or ask for help when needed.\n\nAt Defiant, ‘trust’ is the attribute we value most highly among our team members. We need to know that you can grab a task, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and see the task to completion with superb attention to detail.\n\nWe use apps like Slack, FogBugz, GitHub, and Google Apps for our workflow.\n\n\nJob Description\n\nWe are looking for Security Analysts to join our Care and Response team. You will assist our customers with support questions related to our product and investigate site intrusions; as well as repair their site and remove all traces of compromise. In addition to this you will also collect evidence from intrusions that will help improve our threat detection. You will need to determine how the intrusion occurred and then collect all IOC’s (indicators of compromise) and share this data with our product team in a structured way.\n\nGeneral requirements:\n\n* You must be highly technical and be comfortable with a wide range of open source tools.\n* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.\n* Ability to interact with customers on a professional level.\n* You must work well in a team as well as being able to work independently without additional guidance.\n* You must be nimble, be able to think outside-the-box and be able to come up with creative solutions to challenging problems and must have a mature approach to problem solving.\n* Attention to detail.\n\n## Requirements\nThe specific skills we require for this position are:\n\n* A solid understanding of regular expressions. You need to be able to write expressions on the fly to match and remove only malicious code (which is often polymorphic) without affecting any legitimate code and to write signatures for our customers.\n* At least 5 years of experience administering multiple Linux Stacks (We don't support Windows).\n* Ability to write and read PHP, regular expressions, cron jobs and JavaScript. Other languages like Python a strong plus.\n* 5+ years with MySQL.\n* At least 2+ years of experience investigating hacked websites analysis of how the intrusion occurred and removing the intrusion vector and restoring the site to a fully functional state.\n* An understanding of all major vulnerability types and the ability to explain them to a customer in terms they can understand.\n* Ability to analyze log files and determine how an intrusion occurred.\n* Must be able to use shell tools like grep, find and any other utility that can assist with investigation and remediation.\n* 3+ years of experience with WordPress required.\n* You must be well versed in information and cyber security and any certifications you already have in penetration testing or forensics are a strong plus.\n\nAll positions require a trial period of approximately 2-3 weeks with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week. You will be paid for this short-term contract, and it will be used to evaluate whether both parties want to pursue an ongoing working relationship.\n\nAll offers are contingent on successful completion of a background check. The results of the background check are considered as they relate to the position and do not automatically disqualify someone from a offer of work with the company.\n\n## Benefits\nFull-time telecommuting with a company that has been 100% remote for over 8 years.\n\n## Diversity at Defiant\n\nWe value diversity and do not discriminate based on race, color, religion or creed, national origin or ancestry, sex, age, physical or mental disability, military or veteran status, gender identity or expression, marital status, sexual orientation, political ideology, economic status, parental status, or any other non-performance-related status. \n\nBe sure to mention the word **EFFUSIVELY** when applying to show you read the job post completely. Ntropy Network Inc is hiring a
Remote Data Scientist

Over the last few decades, technological innovation has relied on democratizing some of its key ingredients: knowledge (open publishing platforms), algorithms (code repositories) and computing (cloud providers). However, the last key component, data, largely remains trapped behind barriers of regulation, privacy, schema standards and competitive risk. Enabling scalable access to data will unlock enormous value for both individual developers and companies. This has only been made possible in the last few years, through advances in manifold learning algorithms and privacy-preserving computing. See our blog for more details.\n\nOne of the most valuable kinds of data today is in the financial sector. Financial data plays a key role across many industry verticals. However, it has notoriously been locked behind regulatory barriers and a lack of format standards. Our first product is an API that makes financial transactions accessible with minimal engineering overhead to both humans and machine-learning models in a scalable and privacy-preserving way.\n\nWe\n - are allergic to over-engineering.\n - are anarchists at heart and like to hack around the status quo.\n - are radically honest and appreciate challenging one another, rather than giving out “pats on the back”. Yet, we can always rely on each other for support, feedback and results. \n - are willing to learn and adapt quickly to new situations and requirements. Languages, frameworks, libraries, compilers, etc. are just tools for a job. A new problem might need a new tool. If it doesn’t exist yet, we will build it.\n - have a sense of humor (well, we think we do).\n\nAs an early member of our data science team, you will help\n - push the limits of what can be done with data.\n - build the team and drive the direction of the company.\n - shape our product and culture.\n - experience the direct impact of what you build on hundreds of millions of people’s financial lives.\n\nThe following are required\n - the tools: Python, Pandas, Matplotlib, scikit-learn, etc.\n - Spark, SQL and fundamental database operations.\n - recognized open-source contributions and/or top performance in data competitions (Kaggle, Numerai, etc.).\n - fluency in statistics and probability.\n\n\nFAQ\n\n\nWhat if I recommend someone who ends up getting hired?\n\nWe will give you 20k USD for the referral.\n\nWhere is Ntropy located?\n\nWe are fully remote, with a virtual base in San Francisco, CA.\n\nWhat time-zones do you work with?\n\nWe hire anywhere in the time zones GMT-7 to GMT+1.\n\nDo you consider part-time work?\n\nNot at the moment. Full-time roles only.\n\nHow are you funded?\n\nWe are backed by some of the top fintech investors in the world. Have raised single-digit millions of dollars so far. Can share more details over the call.\n\nDo you already have a product?\n\nCurrently in beta with 20+ customers.\n\nDo you plan to sell customer data?\n\nNtropy is on a mission to enable products without data barriers. We will never sell customer data and will always put privacy and customer benefit ahead of any auxiliary financial gains.\n\nWhat is the interview process like?\n\n1. Send us problems you have solved before and how. Please include as much detail as possible: code, algorithms, derivations, proofs, etc. We will then do a video call to kick things off and go through it (45 mins).\n\n2. We will give you a take-home project related to whatever we are currently working on (3-4 hours). Alternatively, if you have a relevant project that you worked on previously that demonstrates your skills as an engineer, you are welcome to use that instead.\n\n3. We will then do a deep-dive through the project over a call and discuss the implementation, improvements and bottlenecks.\n\nAbove all, we respect your time and commitment and will keep you up to speed on where we are at during the whole process.\n\nWhat are your hiring plans?\n\nWe aim to be 22-25 people in the next 6 months. Mostly engineering roles.\n\nWhat is your current stack?\n\nback-end - Python + Rust (where performance matters)\ncompute - AWS + Azure\nML - PyTorch + ONNX\n\nWork / life balance?\n\nWe are a startup which requires you to put in a lot more work and soul than a regular job. It will require long hours and sacrificing your free time. We believe, however, that nothing easy is worth doing. We will expect a lot from you, and you should expect a lot from us.\n\nWhat is the compensation?\n\n$130k • 0.2% - 0.5%\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on previous jobs related to InfoSec, Engineer and Data Science jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $130,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nRemote

Trail of Bits

💰 $90k - $140k*

Trail of Bits is hiring a
Remote Blockchain Security Apprenticeship

About Trail of Bits\nTrail of Bits helps secure the world’s most targeted organizations and products. We combine high-end security research with a real-world attacker mentality to reduce risk and fortify code.\n\nAs a cybersecurity research and consulting firm, we serve clients in the defense, tech, finance, and blockchain industries. We help with their most difficult security challenges by designing and building new technology, researching new techniques to advance the state of practice, and reviewing the security of the latest available technology products before they hit the market.\n\nOur team consumes, produces, and presents research as a natural part of doing business. When we make new discoveries or developments, we strive to share our knowledge and release our tools as open-source. It’s a practice that’s earned us industry accolades and helped contribute to our double-digit bottom line growth.\n\nRole \nOur growing team is directing the future of blockchain security. We review blockchain code and smart contracts for security vulnerabilities. Between engagements, we build custom tools like Slither, Echidna, and Manticore to aid our process. Think of all of the security tools for x86 that you would have liked to have built yourself, but mature versions already existed. Few of those tools have been built yet for blockchain architectures. Join us to make a career-defining contribution. \n\nYou will be at the forefront of blockchain security research. You will work alongside some of the best in the industry to review smart contracts, blockchain infrastructure code, and decentralized applications for security vulnerabilities, using both manual static analysis and our tool suite.\n\nIn the time between your engagements, you will work on self-study materials to further your understanding of the code, environment, and techniques used in professional software assurance audits. For the duration of the apprenticeship, you will be shadowing a senior security engineer, practicing in the off-hours, and reading on your own.\n\nThis is an intensive program designed to replace the two years of experience typically required of a Trail of Bits engineer; it is not an internship. You will be mentored by one of our senior security engineers, who will share their experience and help you to grow in the company.  This opportunity is intended for entry- to mid-level professionals with some experience in blockchain programming or operations. The ideal candidate is self-driven and is likely already learning how to use our tools and studying new programming languages.\n\nWe value communication with both Trail of Bits team members and customers, so you should enjoy working as part of a team.\n\nDedication to diversity, equity & inclusion\nTrail of Bits is committed to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace where our employees can thrive and be themselves! We welcome all persons into our community. We embrace the diversity of gender, gender identity or expression, race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, age, physical and mental disabilities, medical condition, genetic characteristic, sexual orientation, marital status, family care or medical leave status, military or veteran status, or perceived membership in any of these groups.\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on previous jobs related to InfoSec jobs that are similar:\n\n $90,000 — $140,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nRemote

Thistle is hiring a
Remote Software Engineer

Who we are \n\nFounded in 2013, Thistle is an early-stage food-tech startup empowering our customers to get and stay healthy while improving our food system’s sustainability. We deliver delicious, organic, healthy, plant-forward meals, cold-pressed juices, and snacks to customers on the West Coast at the elusive intersection of convenience, health, and sustainability.\n\nWe don’t want to be just another food delivery startup. Our focus is on our customers’ health and happiness, and we are revolutionizing how fresh, nutritious, high-quality food is purchased, manufactured, and delivered at scale. Thistle is headquartered in San Francisco, and we are backed by some amazing investors in the Bay Area and beyond.\n\nThistle is headquartered in San Francisco, but we are building out a remote engineering team. Candidates should be located within California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Tennessee, or Maine. \n\nAbout the role\n\nWe're looking for Software Engineers to help build the technology to bring health and happiness to our customers.  You’ll work on our consumer web and mobile apps as well as the operations systems that enable us to cook and deliver an ever-growing number of meals every month.\n\nWe are currently looking for all levels of engineers - Software Engineers, Senior Software Engineers, and Staff Software Engineers. You can see a breakdown of how we differentiate between these levels here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1V-gKqYbcU6FiOKUnr8QYt9rg58BHdNlBeROYgYXj674/edit#gid=0.\n\nWe understand that everyone is going to have strengths and weaknesses with regards to different aspects of being a software engineer. We encourage you to apply even if you feel some of the expectations would be challenging to meet! We will do our best to assess your level as part of the application process - you do not need to specify which level you are applying for. \n\nOur stack:\nCurrently, the primary technologies we use are Python, Django, Javascript, React, React Native, Heroku and AWS. While experience with some or all of our stack is appreciated, it is definitely not a prerequisite. We feel the qualities we are looking for in an engineer(see above) are much more important, and are definitely willing to invest the time to train an engineer up on a specific technology.\n\nThe application process:\nWhen you apply to be a software engineer, the hiring manager will read your application. We do not have any automated bots filtering out applicants, so no need to stuff your resume with keywords! We’re making a renewed commitment to respond to everyone who applies for this role and are targeting our response to candidates within a week. If we think you would make a good addition to our team, our Talent Acquisition Manager will reach out to schedule a time to chat with you. \n\nIf you and the Talent Acquisition Manager both agree to move forward, the next step will be a call with the hiring manager. This call will focus on a technical discussion of a problem. All of our technical interviews are centered around real problems that you might face here at Thistle - no FizzBuzz or other nonsense! Our technical problems are also language-agnostic, so don’t worry if you aren’t familiar with our stack. \n\nIf you and the hiring manager both agree to move forward, the final stage will be a 3-hour interview. During the course of the interview, you’ll meet with 3 different panels. One of the panels will focus on a technical discussion of a real problem, and the other two will focus on your values and soft skills. \n\nWe believe that following this process gives us the best shot at understanding your current skills, strengths, and weaknesses. We are asking you to demonstrate your technical competence as part of the interview, so it’s important to note that we’re agnostic as to how you achieved that skill. \n\nDiversity, equity, and inclusion are essential values at Thistle. We know we'll do our best and most impactful work when we feel we're represented and we belong. We're proud to actively recruit and hire talented people from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.  You can get some deeper insight into how we approach DEI, along with some statistics on the internal demographics of the company and leadership team, here: https://www.thistle.co/learn/thistle-thoughts/thistle-on-diversity-equity-and-inclusion. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on previous jobs related to Developer, Senior and Backend, Digital Nomad, Full Stack, InfoSec, Engineer, Executive jobs that are similar:\n\n $65,000 — $112,500/year\n

Divvy Homes is hiring a
Remote Senior Full Stack Engineer

Why Divvy?\n\nOver the past decade, millions of Americans have been forced to put their dreams of homeownership on hold. Home prices have outpaced wage growth while mortgage requirements continue to tighten. As a result, renters are missing out on a critical wealth-building opportunity: owning a home.\n\nAt Divvy, we're building an on-ramp to homeownership – one that's more affordable, more flexible, and an overall better fit for the modern American family – and it’s working.\n\nAbout the role\nYou will be able to leverage your creativity and skill set to make homeownership more accessible and equitable. The engineering team builds tools to support our consumer, agent and administrative products. At Divvy, you’ll own some of your projects from start to finish, support your teammates on other projects, and work collectively to scale our platform to thousands of new applicants and multiple new markets. Almost every project will require cross functional collaboration across the entire home buying process. You will work alongside a team of 8 engineers, 2 product managers, 2 data scientists, and about 40 other Divvy employees working on different parts of the business.  \n\nEngineering Opportunities\nBuying thousands of homes a year requires effective and intelligent software. There are several different complex workflows that our software must support and each one presents us with its own unique set of nuances and challenges. Depending on your interests and career objectives, you will work towards solving challenges across three broad domains:\n\n1. Consumer experience - We want to make finding and buying your next home easier than renting. This involves building an intuitive application experience, nurturing the relationship between applicants and agents, recommending homes, and hand-holding the customer through the process.\n\n2. Data Intelligence - Given that we are a financial product, we need to ensure that we are selecting the right candidates into our program (those with a high likelihood of becoming homeowners), and pricing our offering as fairly and accurately as possible. You would work alongside our data-science team to productize models and leverage our datasets to reduce risk and build a more effective product.\n\n3. Scale - Our goal is to buy thousands of homes in the coming years. Buying a home involves considerable complexity, and we want to remove as much human touch from this as possible. We are building systems to automatically underwrite customers, generate competitive offers, thoroughly and thoughtfully inspect homes, support and service our tenants, and much more.\n\nCommitment to Diversity & Inclusion\n\nWe prioritize a commitment to diversity in our team building process. We enthusiastically encourage individuals from a variety of lived experiences to reach out. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on previous jobs related to InfoSec, Engineer and DevOps, Executive, Full Stack, Developer, Digital Nomad, Design, Senior, Python, JavaScript, Data Science, DevOps jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n

Lincoln Network is hiring a
Remote Senior Product Design

We’re hiring Senior Product Designers as contractors.\n\nPart-time. Remote.\n\ntl;dr: We're looking for top product designers to do contracting with us: someone who can interview users, design thoughtful features, and produce beautiful high-fidelity mockups for our engineers to implement. If that's you, we're dying to talk to you.\n\nWho we are\nLincoln Network is a group of unapologetic capitalists who love technology.\n\nWe founded Lincoln six years ago because we were concerned. The heart of the technology world, Silicon Valley, has shifted away from the free market values that led to its prosperity and to improved lives for billions of people worldwide.\n\nWe’ve grown into an organization with three parts - a think tank, an agency, and a product studio. As a contracting designer, you’ll be helping with all three, but primarily with client-facing agency projects.\n\nDespite our need for top-tier design talent, things have been going really well. We have dramatically grown in size and influence over the past six years and have established ourselves as the preeminent organization in the overlap of the free market policy and tech worlds.\n \nRole overview\nMany companies have separate roles for UR (talk to users and understand their needs), UX (figures out how things should work), and UI (implements the design). We're looking for someone who can do all three. But if we had to pick only two, it would be UX and UI.\n\nAs a contracting Senior Product Designer, you'll work with our design, product, and engineering gurus on exciting new and established websites, plus responsive web/mobile apps. You won't be on your own. You'll have input from our resident illustrator/engineer Joey, our Head of Product Ian, the multiple clever Product Managers across the company, and our existing design team. We all want beautifully designed products and we know that takes collaboration and process.\n\nA key part of this role is getting familiar with our customers. You'll be talking to them constantly and using their feedback to guide your decisions. When we know what to build, you'll design UIs for our apps and websites.\n\nThis is a critical role, and we're looking for someone with a rare combination of skills. As such, we expect to pay a premium for you.\n\nThings you'll do a lot\n• Talk to users. You'll show them early mocks of things we're working on and iterate based on their feedback. After we ship something, you'll follow up and make sure we nailed it.\n• Watch people use our products and then fix the parts that were unclear.\n• Design the UX/UI for complex interactions across our applications. \n• Collaborate with Engineering as your changes are implemented, and on-the-fly decisions are needed.\n\nThings you must do well\n• Maintain a crazy-high bar for product polish.\n• Take feedback and collaborate like a pro.\n• Learn our design languages and create mockups for our devs.\n• See projects through.\n\nIdeally, but not a deal-breaker: \n• Write HTML/CSS/JS\n• Open PRs on our web apps with design improvements.\n• Know how to design a good looking logo\n• Create beautiful motion designs\n\nProjects you’re likely to work on\n• Being deployed on consulting projects for our client partners in the liberty movement\n\nThings you WON’T have to do\n• Work with no feedback and input from others.\n• Ask permission to try interesting new approaches.\n• Work nine to five.\n\nWhy you might want to work with us\n• We're small, so there is little to no bureaucracy. You can have a huge impact here.\n• We keep meetings rare, short, and productive.\n• You can work remotely, though you'll need to have a reasonable overlap with US time zones.\n• You'll have a front-row seat at an early-stage, fast-growing company with many people that have done this before. If you hope to start your own thing someday, this could be great preparation.\n• You'll report to our Head of Product, Ian.\n• This role is part-time and all-remote.\n• We’re growing fast and this could eventually turn into a full-time opportunity.\n\nWhy you might NOT want to work with us\n• You are not bullish on the potential of technology.\n• You don’t ❤️ capitalism.\n• You'll report to our Head of Product, Ian.\n \nBoring but necessary requirements \n• A sizable portfolio you’re proud of. Applications without a portfolio won’t be considered.\n• 3+ years of experience. This is a senior role, so we need someone with proven skills across a range of projects.\n• Must have some consistent working hours that overlap with US time zones\n\nRates\n$50 - $120 / hr depending on portfolio, skills, and availability\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on previous jobs related to InfoSec, Engineer and DevOps, Executive, Full Stack, Developer, Digital Nomad, Design, Senior, DevOps jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n

When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site.
