๐ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!
When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site. We believe in the power of process and its potential to unlock growth in teams everywhere.\n\n\n\nWho we are\n\nProcess Street is a no-code workflow platform startup from San Francisco. We help our customers build, document, automate, and track recurring workflows. Our platform stores knowledge where the action happens, ensuring thorough and error free execution of workflows that our global customers run their businesses on. Our mission is to make recurring work fun, fast, and faultless for teams everywhere\n\nWe service over 3k customers around the world, such as Airbnb, Spotify, AstraZeneca, and Accenture, and are VC-backed by Accel, Salesforce, and Atlassian.\n\nProcess Street was founded on a strong belief in the work-life benefits of a healthy, collaborative remote culture. We value flexibility because many of us are parents, travelers, or just creatives who aren't inspired by the construct of a mundane 9-to-5. Spread across 9 different time zones, we communicate asynchronously, work autonomously, and take real ownership of our work. We know human connections are what make teams strong, so we regularly do coffee chats, game-playing, story-telling, and more to build connections.\n\nIf youโre entrepreneurial and seek an environment that values impact, ownership and flexibility we look forward to meeting you! \n\n \n\nThe Opportunity\n\nThe Head of Design is responsible for partnering closely with Product and Marketing Leaders to set the design vision across all customer touch-points, raise the visual and interaction design quality, and get cross functional teams working cohesively. As the owner of Process Streetโs overall design strategy, you will also steer creative direction ensuring a consistent vision across all customer touch-points from branding, to sales materials, to the product itself.\n\nYou will be responsible for developing and evangelizing a design system and practice that pairs with the Shape UP methodology. You will develop the standards and guidelines which clarify the expectations of our design strategy and guide the team through its implementation. You will perform quantitative and qualitative research to identify improvement and new feature opportunities, whilst ensuring company wide transparency on Brand and Product Design evolution. \n\n \n\nAbout You\n\n* You want agency. We practice the Shape Up process, and run 6-week cycles and 2-week cooldowns. For the 6-week cycles, PMs provide a problem statement and some guidelines โ no tickets, no detailed specs, no hi-fidelity solutions, and no estimates. Designers and engineers are trusted to craft the best solution possible in the cycle using user research, data, experience, and grit. During the 2-week cooldowns, you have the autonomy to work on what's important to you. If a lot of responsibility, freedom, and ambiguity sounds refreshing, this role is for you.\n* You value collaboration. You know that understanding the constraints and viewpoints of your peers across engineering, product, and design results in a better user experience. If you find yourself actively seeking out the opinion of engineers, for example, you're probably a strong candidate for this role.\n* You love process, but loathe bureaucracy and ceremony. We think process is a tool. Used well, it makes us a better, faster team. But when it's not doing that, we drop it. We also avoid unnecessary meetings whenever possible. A typical week for our engineers and designers has fewer than 5 hours of meetings.\n* You love to ship. We move fast. We deploy continuously behind feature flags, and release to customers at the end of every cycle. This is a hands-on role. You'll be designing a lot, and seeing your designs shipped to production daily.\n* You want to have a big impact. We're a small team and we're still early stage. We don't have designated areas of responsibility, and everyone wears the product hat. Every cycle brings new challenges, and your sphere of influence is wide. You love the variety and don't want to be shackled to a single project for years.\n* You're well-versed in design thinking, design systems, and modern design software. You've led design sprints. You enjoy using tools like Figma, Miro, and Storybook to collaborate with your peers in real-time. And you're excited to maintain and contribute to a design system.\n* You have five or more years of experience in product design. While the job posting notes the role as a Head of Design, we will hire in a range of levels for this position. So if the role excites you, and you have five years of experience, but don't have a "Lead or Head" title, you should apply.\n \n\nOur Favo[u]rite Perks\n\n* Fully remote โ No offices, no commute, check-in from a destination of your choosing!\n* Unlimited Time Off โ Most take 3-4 weeks, plus recognition of days or events of their choosing.\n* End of Year Shutdown - A company-wide week off to reflect and recharge.\n* Annual Company Offsite - On pause during the Pandemic, but we still sponsor small group meetups โ safely and responsibly โ to meet each other and build connective tissue.\n* Health and Wellness - Generous health insurance for US-based employees and their families\n* Stock Options - Live by a Process Street value and โAct like an ownerโ by participating in our ESOP\n \n \nFor applicants based in Colorado the minimum salary for this opportunity is $150,000 + equity + benefits. (Equal Pay and Transparency Protection Movement | US Department of Labor. Thresholds may not hold for applicants outside of the United States.) \n\nPlease mention the word **ATTRACTIVE** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMy4xMi4xNDcuMTg4). \nWho We Are\n\nProcess Street is a SaaS platform that helps companies manage their processes and workflows to make recurring work fun, fast and faultless. We are a lean, flexible, 100% distributed team that relies on systems to improve output 10X. Process Street is a venture-backed startup and an AngelPad alum (the #1 Accelerator in the US).\n\nA distributed team means freedom and flexibility: All 30-plus of us work wherever we’d like—reliable internet access is our only requirement. Spread across 9 time zones in 10 countries, we sign into Slack and open up our work tools on the schedule that fits our lives best. We communicate asynchronously, work autonomously, and take ownership of our work. Distributed work isn’t for everyone, but if it fits your management style, it’s a life-changing benefit.\n\nCamaraderie from afar: Being 100% distributed doesn’t stop us from getting to know each other— we have daily conversations in chat, weekly “coffee” pairings with coworkers, and once a year we all come together for an all-team retreat.\n\nOur values: As a small, nimble company, we want our employees to feel empowered to make decisions and define the future of our company, so our values include:\n\n\n* Act like an owner (Agency!)\n\n* Default to action (Processes are great; bureaucracy isn't!)\n\n* Focus on the process (See? Great.)\n\n* Practice prioritization (There are an infinite number of useful things to do. We trust you to pick the best ones.)\n\n* Pay attention to details (Our customers count on us!)\n\n* Over-communicate everything. Twice (See what we did there?)\n\n\n\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nWe are looking for a Director of Engineering with experience building SaaS products to expand and lead our team of software engineers. Process Street is a small, fast-growing, and remote-first company, so you'll likely get to contribute to many different projects across the organization. Here are some of the things you'll do:\n\n\n* Develop effective ways to communicate, monitor, and lead your team through one-on-ones and team meetings.\n\n* Keep the executive leadership team informed on your team’s progress through one-on-ones, written updates, and regular team hangouts.\n\n* Build rapport with each member of the engineering team and support them through coaching and mentorship to help level up their skills.\n\n* Participate in code reviews, learning, and spreading technical knowledge throughout Process Street -- moving knowledge to documentation where appropriate.\n\n* Occasionally dive into the code - fixing bugs, improving the developer experience, smoothing edges -- sometimes even spiking out small proofs of concept.\n\n* Collaborate across various disciplines (Product Managers, Designers, Researchers) to help set technical roadmaps that will achieve business goals.\n\n* Actively recruit, onboard, and train new engineers at Process Street. This might involve tweaking the skills portions of interviews or writing better documentation.\n\n* Ensure customers have an amazing experience using Process Street.\n\n\n\n\nAbout You\n\nYou are an experienced engineer with a strong background working in our stack: React, ES6/TypeScript, Scala, Play 2 and PostgreSQL. Even if you aren't a daily coder, you regularly exercise your coding muscles to provide any technical context the team may need.\n\nThis isn't your first rodeo. You have hired, trained, and managed at least a few engineers before.\n\nWe value collaboration and investing in our people, so you are an effective team builder. You know how to hire, train, and develop engineers from all backgrounds. You understand the benefits of building a diverse and inclusive engineering team. You're adaptable and you know how to build, change, and adjust to the needs of a company as it grows.\n\nYou have strong communication skills and can partner with stakeholders across departments to balance engineering, product, and marketing/sales concerns. When possible, you find solutions that address both team and user needs, and when it’s not possible, you help build understanding and buy-in for difficult decisions.\n\nYou can keep track of, prioritize, and lead multiple projects at once. We're a small team, and there's no shortage of things you could be doing in a day. You'll carve out time for functional projects and make sure they solve real problems the team faces - ideally making future development even easier.\n\nWhat You'll Bring\n\n\n* 5+ years of software development experience\n\n* 2+ years people management experience related to engineering teams\n\n\n\n\nDiverse Teams Build Better Products\n\nLegally, we need you to know this: \n\nProcess Street does not discriminate in employment matters on the basis of race, color, religion, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, military service eligibility, veteran status, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, or any other protected class. \nTHE OPPORTUNITY\n\nWe are a young, lean, funded AngelPad company looking for an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer with experience building SaaS products. We are a fully distributed team with people working all around the world. You will have the flexibility and freedom to work in the environment of your choosing, whether that be at home, a cafe or co-working space. We're looking for a senior engineer to help build our API-First core app using JavaScript/AngularJS/React and Scala/Play.\n\nABOUT YOU\n\nYou love code. You love to take raw ideas and build great products with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. You know JavaScript is imperfect, but you embrace its functional side and genuinely enjoy coding with it. You might like to talk about obscure computer science topics, but really, you just want to write simple code and ship new products and features to customers (or improve existing ones).\n\nYou love great UX. You spend most of your time coding, but you also have an eye for great design and a feel for great UX. Maybe you were once a designer (or still are) or maybe your creative outlet has always been the code. Either way, you care about more than just the code.\n\nYou love learning new things. You love researching new tech and driving forward with the implementation details. Your focus is on frontend JavaScript code, but you can dig in wherever needed. Scala, CSS, build tools, shell scripts, you name it. If you don't already know it, you're ready to learn it.\n\nYou can balance lots of concerns. Frontend apps have to take into account performance (using networks and devices that we can't control), customer demands, A/B tests, UX research, code quality, a rapidly changing ecosystem of languages and modules, and the list goes on. And we actually want to ship things too! You can balance those demands without getting overwhelmed and keep the needle moving forward.\n\nYou love helping others. You love sharing knowledge with the rest of your team, building shared tooling for other engineers, giving back to the open-source community, and directly helping customers.\n\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\n\n\n* Research, guide, and execute frontend architecture changes, including but by no means limited to planning our migration to React, implementing Redux best practices, and transitioning code to TypeScript.\n\n* Build reusable React components, migrate AngularJS components to React, manage data on the client with Redux, and test everything with Jasmine.\n\n* Measure and resolve performance bottlenecks, using tools like Chrome DevTools, Lighthouse, WebPageTest, or custom tooling.\n\n* Refactor or improve existing code. We're planning to migrate our frontend to React, but we still have a lot of AngularJS code to clean up. And we constantly find ways to improve all of our JavaScript code.\n\n* Work closely with our product, design, and UX teams to create amazing and intuitive experiences that make it effortless to connect different apps together.\n\n* Help put tools, processes, and documentation in place to improve our code quality.\n\n* Review code written by other team members or other teams.\n\n* Ship to hundreds of thousands of users every day while having lots of autonomy in terms of code and feature ownership.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT YOU’LL BRING\n\n\n* 5+ years of software development experience\n\n* Experience with building and maintaining a SaaS product at scale\n\n* An affinity for creating software that is extensible, performant, and easy to read\n\n* A degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
