Do you want to join us on our mission to shape democracies for the digital age? Are you looking for an international and fast-paced, yet collaborative and inclusive environment to thrive in?\n\nYou have come to the right place.\n\nCitizenLab, a global social impact scale-up with its HQ in Brussels, and presence in New York, works to make public decision-making more participatory, inclusive, and responsive. The SaaS platform is already being used by 300+ local governments and organizations in over 18 countries, facilitating two-way communication between governments and their residents. Since it was founded in 2015, CitizenLab has given 750,000+ community members a direct voice in local politics, has earned recognition as the 'Best Social Impact Startup in Europe', and was featured in outlets such as The New York Times and Forbes.\n\nCitizenLab is looking for purpose-driven talent to join us on our mission to enable millions of people in cities across the globe to shape the future of their communities.\n\n**Full-Stack Engineer at CitizenLab**\n\nAs a Full-Stack Engineer in the Engagement squad, you contribute to our core product, which allows local governments to engage their community members through a wide range of digital participation methods. You’re part of a cross-functional squad. While you can contribute to both our Ruby back-end and our React front-end, you specialize in one. You help your colleagues to bridge knowledge gaps.\n\nAt CitizenLab, we work in small teams where members collectively take ownership of the outcome of the features they build. We work in short iterations, test rigorously and release continuously. We’re strong believers in user testing and understanding live product usage.\n\nYour responsibilities:\n\n* You actively contribute to the specifications of new features, uncovering technical constraints and breaking down the work in iterations and tasks.\n\n* You take ownership over your tasks and implement them in close contact with your colleagues.\n\n* You take into account all aspects, from data models to testing, to performance, delivering well-engineered scalable solutions.\n\n* You bridge the back-end/front-end knowledge gaps for your colleagues, seeing the full picture.\n\n* You deliver your work in small iterations, often soliciting feedback from colleagues, spontaneously and through code reviews.\n\n\n**What do we expect from you?**\n\nAs our Full-Stack Engineer with a front or back-end focus:\n\n* You have multiple years of experience developing in Ruby on Rails or React and have at least played around with the other, or very similar. Experience with Elixir is a plus.\n\n* You know how to implement a modern user interface.\n\n* You know how to implement a sound API.\n\n* You’re a firm believer in well-tested and peer-reviewed code.\n\n* You take initiative and like to be challenged.\n\n* The ability to relocate to Brussels is a plus, but not a requirement.\n\nEagerness to learn, talent, and enthusiasm are more important than ticking the boxes. Even if not all desired requirements are met, but you're very excited about the role, we want to hear from you.\n\n**What can you expect from us?**\n* Unlock your full potential and create social impact at scale. Day-to-day, we work with local government leaders across the world to help them connect with their communities.\n* Become a key factor in our rapid transition from a startup to a scaleup (50 employees), and our international expansion.\n* Work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and supportive environment. We share a participatory culture of autonomy and ownership by everyone, not only by leadership.\n* Be part of our dynamic, international team. We are as serious about our work in digital democracy as we are about having fun on our journey together.\n* Enjoy an informal work vibe with open communication and full transparency on results.\n* Participate in our various hybrid (in-person/remote) team events, inspiring team lunches, our company book club, bi-quarterly strategic town halls, and yearly global team retreats.\n* Spend 10% of your time on personal projects and self-development for the long run. We’re committed to both collective and individual growth.\n* Receive a competitive salary package, incl. perks such as 26 paid holidays, a professional development budget, a collective bonus plan, your own laptop, full flexibility on working from home, and much more.\n\n*CitizenLab is committed to being a diverse and inclusive workplace. This role will help build and maintain Sendify's core, enabling small businesses to focus on what makes them special, and not on logistics.\n\nSendify is a platform built to replace the traditional logistics department. It helps standardise booking, pricing, and tracking. It uses a mix of smart technology, clean UI, and a dedicated team to help small businesses to simplify the shipping process. Our vision is to be a full-service logistics platform for small business.\n\nSendify's head office is currently in Gothenburg, Sweden. We are, however, open to all candidates through Sweden and Germany. \n \n\n**The job**\n\nYou'll help lend a hand with architecting and building out new features, maintaining existing ones, and being a strong voice for technical debt. You'll keep tabs on and bring forward parts of the developer experience that don't work well. Part of this role is to step away from the code and to give voice to the architecture, guide other engineers, and help shape our roadmap and incoming features with a technical eye.\n \n\nOur role within Sendify is to produce technology to make our customers' lives easier. To do this, and do this well, we need someone who has a great filter for fluff. We work done that is neat, tidy, well-named, and thoughtfully-abstracted. This is what you'll help us with. Someone who leaves our world a little better than when we found it 🌎\n\n\nOur stack is Golang. We run on K8S, and lean heavily on AWS for hosting and services to help keep us online. It is not a hard requirement to be familiar with Go; if you have experience in another language, these skills will translate easily. We're happy to help you learn.\n\n\nSome of our actual recent work (and things that are on the menu to be worked on):\n\n* Moved our high-complexity ImageMagick implementation out of our application and into AWS Lambda. Simplifying our dependencies, and isolating a CPU-bound workload.\n* Diagnosed and debugged an issue with our ERP system where a customer was entering badly formatted data in the wrong field and not returning a correctly formatted error message for our Dashboard.\n* Investigated and agreed as a team to take on technical debt through a DynamoDB integration. This allowed us to ship a feature we're not certain about, and now remains easy to change or remove if needed. Tidy-ups have been scheduled for later in the year to pay the debt down.\n* Dug deep into our pricing algorithm, documenting the pieces, and working with Max on the product team to help understand what is needed.\n* Started generating realtime manifests - aka pickup receipts - for carriers. These are more convenient for our customers, and generated in memory - reducing dependence on file storage.\n* Simplified our CI/CD pipeline, diagnosed and removed an extra build step. Shifted from Debian to Alpine, removing old dependencies and removing legacy build scripts along the way.\n* Migrated our internal load balancers from EC2-classic load balancers to AWS Application Load Balancers. Using K8S to handle the resources and routing.\n \n\n**You**\n\nWe looking for someone who's got experience writing modern backend web services. Someone with a nose for code-smells, has a good sense for architecture, and values simple solutions. You've probably got 5+ years of experience building technology professionally.\n\nWe want someone who is not afraid to ask questions and has the wisdom to speak up when there's bad decisions being made. This is someone who can listen carefully, and understands the essence of what is being asked - presenting a technical solution that fits both the problem, and the world. We push to have an open and low-ego environment, where ideas can be suggested freely and where your team takes your thoughts seriously and works to hone them to their best form.\n\nSendify wants team players - if you're a "lone wolf" with your work, this is not the role for you. You're someone who takes care to explain tough concepts to people from all backgrounds. You should be comfortable giving and receiving feedback on ideas. You understand that we work as a group, and not a collection on individuals.\n\nYou, as an engineer, should be happy to get your hands dirty. You should also be comfortable approaching problems from both quantitive and gut-feel approaches. Being comfortable with digging deeper, but also with pushing for a decision when the conversation has come far enough. You are expected to be a self-starter; someone who works towards the goal - taking into account what is said explicitly, but what is also implied.\n\nWe do not require a degree or any formal qualifications for this role, and the position is 100% remote. If you live in or around our current offices, you are welcome to join — but this is not a requirement. We are a remote-first team, and will remain this way.\n\n \n\n**Benefits**\n\nJoin us at the perfect time. If you want to work on a startup in it's most ideal form, now is the time. Sendify knows what it is, and it has the resources to get there — our job now is to get out there and build it. We're a company with huge ambitions, and this is not just talk.\n\nWork with a high integrity and supportive team. Teach, be taught, and learn as you go. You, as an engineer, will be close to the road. This means we feel our wins, and learn from our failures. We have broad experience: expect to learn about different technologies, be part of an upcoming hack-week, dip your toes into new languages or new codebases.\n\nWe also work alongside non-engineers: social events, team sports, karaoke (..or not karaoke), and slow summer lunches in the sun ☀️\n\nHave a short decision path. Tech you want to work with? Techniques you've seen? A better way we can do things? This is a good place to test both your eye for what's new, but also for getting it through implementation.\n\nHelp develop the team. As we grow, we face new challenges - how should we work together best? How should we architect our systems for scale? What's the most important thing to work on right now? How should we adapt our team shape or technology to be quicker?\n\nWe're fair and transparent with salary. This is based on seniority and is standardised within the team. It's important to all roles, and you should not need to fight or negotiate for the same salary as your peers.\n\n \n\nBe sure to mention the words **NATION TWENTY INSANE** when applying to show you read the job post completely. This is a beta feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n $60,000 — $90,000/year\n \n\n#Location\n🇪🇺 EU

You understand the right balance between code readability, simplicity, development speed, performance, and maintainability.\n\nYou're well-acquainted with typed NodeJS codebases and preferably these technologies: GraphQL, Apollo, Postgres, Redis, ElasticSearch, Docker, AWS, websockets, microservices, event-driven architecture.\n\n# About TheyDo\nTheyDo is the first B2B SaaS platform that allows organizations to redefine cross-team collaboration around the customer journey. It is journey management, the product management way. We help teams make sense of a complex data graph and connect it with various data sources. Some examples currently on our roadmap:\n\n* 🔌 Realizing integrations with a wide ecosystem - Miro, Jira, Google Analytics, etc.\n* 📈 Implementing microservices and extend our event-driven architecture.\n* ⏱️ Enabling version control on all user data.\n* ⚡ Improving real-time collaborative functionality. Using fractional indexing, last-writer wins and other techniques to provide a superior user experience.\n\nAs a founding team member, you will get a chance to set the foundations of our engineering culture. You will help articulate our engineering principles and help set the long-term roadmap.\n\n# We're looking for\n* An ambitious engineer with several years of experience working on back-end architecture and design. Previous experience at a scaled product is a big plus.\n* An engineer who wants to be at the foundation of a fast-growing team.\n* A product-minded engineer that wants to understand how people use our product and why.\n* An asynchronous worker who organises and documents their work.\n* A clean coder who writes well-structured and maintainable code.\n\n# What we offer\n* Remote position, for 4-5 days per week, across flexible working hours.\n* Collaborate with zealous colleagues having 20+ years of experience working in the field.\n* A unique opportunity to shape a product and our growing team.\n* Regular off-sites/company outings with the TheyDo team.\n* Competitive compensation and equity package.\n* As many vacation days as you need, we expect you to take at least 25.\n* Professional development reimbursement.\n* Mental health and wellness reimbursement.\n* Paid parental leave.\n* Home office & technology reimbursement.\n\nTo summarise, we value work-life harmony backed by personal freedom under responsibility. Sounds like fun? We're looking forward to having you join our team. ✨🙏\n\n# Our engineering team\nThe engineering team consist of: a CTO, three full-stack engineers, one back-end engineer, and one QA tester. We aim for a relaxed environment within the ambitious goals we have for our product.\n\nOur server is fully typed and built using NodeJS, Apollo, Redis, Postgres, ElasticSearch and more modern technologies. Our web application is also typed and uses VueJS, Apollo, WebSockets, and more. Other tooling currently includes AWS, Storybook, Cypress, Jest, Stripe, and WorkOS.\n\nA typical day at the office for an engineer includes; flexibility to organise your own time, no set hours, ample time for deep work, as few mandatory meetings as possible, plenty of pair programming with team members to get your code just right, reviewing pull requests, and running around in our virtual office.\n\nView our team members [here](https://www.theydo.io/about-us).\n\n# Our culture\nTheyDo's culture is 'Do' rather than 'Talk'. Better ask for forgiveness instead of permission, no one will be accused of trying. We try to keep things simple because complexity slows us down.\n\nIt's not about the time spent, but the outcome achieved. It's up to everyone to map, plan and interact in the best way to get the most out of their day, week, and sprint. Always with an open mindset because we never know when and where the next great idea will surface.\n\nBeing remote we nourish and cherish connectivity, so no one feels alone or left out. We don't have long lines of communication or decisions because hierarchies and silos are part of the past and we love to shape the future. In our virtual office, you can just walk up to your team to have a quick chat, get work done or simply say hello. We motivate everyone to find their own work/life balance. Whether you choose to work asynchronously or synchronously it's up to you as long it fits you and your team.\n\nTheyDo is an equal employer treating everyone as equals. We value diversity and individuality. We think long term and strive to hire the best match for each role, no matter your background. \n\nBe sure to mention the words **SHIELD TOPIC SLIDE** when applying to show you read the job post completely. This is a beta feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n $80,000 — $130,000/year\n \n\n#Location\n🇪🇺 EU

bit.io is hiring a
Remote Software Engineer Backend

bit.io is building the fastest way to get a database, query data, and share data — publicly or privately. Despite the assertion that “data has become the new oil,” the tooling around databases has not meaningfully changed in twenty years. Even with the push for big data and machine learning, a frustrated, growing cadre of data scientists and engineers have to spend too much time setting up and maintaining a basic set up just to use data. bit.io allows users to become immediately productive with data, reducing time from data upload to query to 1 minute. And, our users love it, saying “Your product is amazing”, “really love your product, maybe the best on the market”, and “I am sold on bit.io”.\nbit.io’s long term vision is to become the place for all the world’s data, private and public, just like github is the place for source code. We’re building a team of passionate dataphiles to make that vision a reality and make data - especially public data - more accessible to everyone. We’ve got a ton of thorny database, infrastructure, UI, and UX problems to solve along the way. Come build it with us.\nCritical toward achieving bit.io’s vision is a datastore that (1) scales to petabyte queries while still enabling fast query-iteration by users, and (2) applies data best practices while remaining flexible when opinionated defaults aren’t enough. You will build bit.io’s datastore.\n##As a Software Engineer at bit.io you will:\n* Work across the stack on all aspects of software engineering for the core product\n* Collaborate directly with all teammates on a small, productive technology team\n* Solve petabyte-scale problems in the data space\n* Design, build, test and deploy a complex data management system\n* Make broad, impactful technology decisions with responsibility for their outcomes\n##We’re looking for someone who has:\n* Shipped product\n* Experience and passion in data, data engineering, and data processing\n* Deep knowledge in data management - parsing, cleaning, querying, extracting, etc.\n* A strong drive to make software easy-to-use\n##The ideal backend engineering candidate will have:\n* Expertise in Python and SQL\n* Constructed APIs with technology like REST, OpenAPI, or gRPC\n* Developed with microservices and container technologies like Docker & Kubernetes\n* High proficiency in building data processing pipelines, working with structured data, and leveraging common database technologies\nbit.io is an early-stage, well-funded startup that’s fully remote. We’re outcome-oriented, scientific, curious, respectful, resilient, and inclusive. In addition to competitive salary, equity, bonus, and benefits (including top-tier insurance, generous new-parent leave, and unlimited PTO), we do two unique things: (1) in order to be inclusive and to counter systemic hiring inequities, salary and equity is transparent and not negotiated — every employee with the same role and level is paid exactly the same; and, (2) we have 4-day x 8-hour work weeks (i.e., no Fridays) — we value work-life balance and think you’re just as productive. Monzo is hiring a
Remote Senior Backend Engineer Payments

Senior Backend Engineer, Payments\n\nAt Monzo we’re aiming to build the best current account in the world. We are always keen to hear from capable, creative engineers who want to help us accomplish that goal 🚀\n\nOur backend engineers have a variety of different backgrounds\n\nWe have several non-graduates; only some of us studied Computer Science; one of the team has a degree in Marketing; some of us have worked in huge companies; some have only ever worked in startups; others are former consultants. As long as you enjoy learning new things, we’d love to talk to you. We do not ask for formal qualifications or degree requirements for any of our engineering roles.\n\nWe are actively creating an equitable environment for all of our engineers to thrive\n\nDiversity and inclusion are a priority for us and we are making sure we have lots of support for all of our people to grow at Monzo. We provide a sponsorship framework in Engineering for women and people of colour; all of our leaders are trained on privilege awareness and we are creating partnerships with organisations dedicated to supporting underrepresented groups. You can read more in our 2020 Diversity and Inclusion report.\n\nWe encourage an open and transparent working environment\n\nYou can get involved in any aspect of the business you are interested in and, following Stripe’s example, all emails in the company are visible in an email archive. We contribute to open source software as much as possible. Our blog is a good place to learn even more about what we do!\nPayments 💸\n\nThe goal of Payments is to ensure that making and receiving a payment is a seamless, safe and delightful experience. We’re at the heart of the bank and own some of the core infrastructure and services that make Monzo, Monzo… Hello Hot Coral Cards 💖\n\nEngineering squads within Payments carry out a mixture of project and operational work to generate revenue, automate manual processes, implement key controls and stay compliant with the various payment schemes we participate in.\n\nPrevious payments team projects have included building our very own Mastercard processor (from scratch), replacing a third-party Faster Payments Gateway with our own internal gateway, improving the international money transfer experience for our customers and supporting other teams within Monzo as they build innovative new features and services using our Payments infrastructure e.g. Monzo Flex, virtual cards & Monzo Pay. We’ve delivered industry leading Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) and 3D Secure V2 (3DSV2) implementations. And we make sure our critical payments infrastructure and services continue to be reliable, correct and high performing.\n\nAt the moment we’re very interested in finding a specific ‘shape’ of backend engineer: someone who’s had some experience within a payments focused engineering team working with other engineers and disciplines and potentially leading projects. As a senior engineer within payments you should expect to split your time between writing code, designing systems and services, mentoring other engineers, and working with your squad to make project decisions, estimates and risk based prioritisation.\n\nMonzo works in project-based sprints in small, interdisciplinary teams\n\nWe have around 150 engineers out of roughly 1,400 people in total - and we have big ambitions. There are many interesting challenges ahead, and we're happy for people to move between teams or to specialise, whatever you prefer. As a senior engineer here you'd be able to work directly with folks from across the company, and we run regular knowledge-sharing sessions so you’ll learn heaps about everything from how banks work to effective communication.\n\nAt Monzo you will get to work with a lot of exciting new technology.\n\nWe rely heavily on the following tools and technologies:\n\nWe rely heavily on the following tools and technologies within Payments:\n\n\nGo to write our application code (there’s an excellent interactive Go tutorial here)\n\nAmazon Key Spaces for most persistent data storage (Recently replaced Cassandra)\n\nBig Query for data reporting and analytics\n\nKafka for our asynchronous message queue\n\nEnvoy Proxy for RPC\n\nKubernetes and Docker to schedule and run our services\n\nAWS for most of our infrastructure\n\nWe also have two physical datacenter sites with actual cables to connect to different payment schemes such as Mastercard and SWIFT\n\n\n\nYou should apply if:\n\n\nyou have strong experience working on the backend of a technology product\n\nyou think you’d enjoy the kind of work we’re doing\n\nyou like doing innovative work under the hood to make things work better\n\nyou want to be involved in building and maintaining services that power our award winning bank\n\nyou’re keen to learn more about new technologies and the arcane inner workings of the payments industry\n\nyou’re comfortable working in a fast paced environment in a team that deals with ambiguity\n\nyou have some experience with strongly-typed languages (Go, Java, C, Scala etc.)\n\nyou're strong on systems thinking and distributed design\n\n\n\nBonus points for (but not essential):\n\n\nExperience working with payment schemes or within the financial services/fintech sector\n\nteam and project leadership experience\n\n\n\nLogistics\n\nSalary is around £90,000 - £116,000 plus stock options and other benefits.\n\nWe can help you relocate to London & we can sponsor visas.\n\nThis role can be based in our London office, but we're open to distributed working (with ad hoc meetings in London once COVID is over).\n\nThere's no closing date for this job.\n\nWe offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, at times that suit you and your team.\n\nDiversity and inclusion is a priority for us – if we want to solve problems for people around the world, our team has to represent our customers. So we need to attract the best talent and create an environment that supports and includes them. You can read more about diversity and inclusion on our blog.\n\nIf you prefer to work part-time, we'll make this happen whenever we can - whether this is to help you meet other commitments or strike a great work-life balance.\n\nOur interview process is normally a phone interview, a coding task and call to discuss it, and 2-3 hours of onsite interviews that can be conducted via hangouts as well. We promise not to ask you any brain teasers or trick questions. We might design a system together on a whiteboard, the same way we often work together, but we won’t make you write code on one.\n\nEqual Opportunity Statement\n\nAt Monzo, embracing diversity in all of its forms and fostering an inclusive environment for all people to do the best work of their lives with us. This is integral to our mission of making money work for everyone.\n\nWe're an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or parental status, national origin, veteran, neurodiversity status or disability status.\n\n\n#LI-Remote\n\n#LI-TT1 \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on previous jobs related to Senior, Engineer and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nLondon, England, United Kingdom

Voltus is hiring a
Remote Software Engineer

Are you interested in building the technical foundation of the worldwide transition to clean energy?\n\nAs an engineer on the integrations team, you will be tasked with performing a sort of magic trick. On one hand, you will need to build out services to make our modern, cloud-based infrastructure look like a collection of power plants to more than a dozen wholesale energy markets. This includes real-time telemetry integrations, dispatch integrations, market offer submission, and more. Complicating the problem: every market has a different idea of what a power plant looks like, and we need to accommodate all of them.\n\nOn the other hand, you will be responsible for distilling that wide range of market signals and communicating simple instructions to customers. “Communicating” might mean sending a text or email, but it also means toggling on a generator, transferring a factory from grid power to battery power, or integrating with building management APIs to change the climate control setpoints at a few hundred retailers.\n\nWe’re looking for someone to make high-impact changes in our small, tight-knit engineering organization. The integrations team sits at the intersection of many internal teams and many external partners. We have the opportunity to do impactful work and we want you to be a part of it.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on previous jobs related to Design, Senior and Digital Nomad jobs that are similar:\n\n $60,000 — $120,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nVirtual

You’re interested in diving into the detailed world of the energy industry and would jump at the opportunity to turn that knowledge into beautiful, performant applications. Match Group is hiring a
Remote Software Engineer II Backend

OkCupid is looking to hire a Software Engineer for the Backend Team!\n\nWe're seeking Engineers \nwho are passionate about technology\nwho are excited to learn new things\nthat are independent\nthat work well with others\nwho will join our small team in NYC!\n\nWhat is it like being a Software Engineer at OkCupid?\nThe OkCupid backend engineering team of about a dozen engineers builds the infrastructure that powers matching algorithms, messaging, and more for millions of users every day. Because the team is so small relative to our user base, each engineer here has full ownership of what they're working on and the opportunity to have a considerable amount of direct consumer impact. We also have a lot of input into both technical and product design. We are involved in all parts of the process, from ideation to deployment, so everything we build is something we also had a hand in designing.\n\nSince our team size is lean, each of us has the opportunity to be exposed to many different parts of our stack and learn a ton. To give one concrete example, one backend engineer has in the past year alone: built the foundation of our anti-spam infrastructure, built out the backend support for a completely new messaging paradigm, and made the foundation of our machine learning infrastructure.\n\nWe work closely with the other engineering and product teams across the company to figure out the best ways to help people find meaningful relationships and turn those ideas into live product features. These changes include adding brand-new features and experiences to the site. We tweak our matching algorithm to ensure that users see the best possible matches or improve our infrastructure to ensure that users can always find matches and continue moving quickly and improving their experience.\n\nSome things you'll do:\nAnalyze site activity and user behavior to figure out what makes people click\nWork with product and engineering teams to figure out the best ways to help our users find love.\nDesign, implement and deploy features and improvements based on these findings.\nSome examples of projects that backend engineers are currently or were recently working on:\nDiscovery: building a new site experience to help users find other users based on shared interests, question answers, etc.\nMatching algorithm: optimizing the algorithms that decide whom users see in different places across the site\nML infrastructure: building out infrastructure to allow our engineers and data scientists to quickly and easily deploy newly trained machine learning models into production\nCore infrastructure: designing the future foundation of OkCupid's backend infrastructure, from deployments to testing environments to monitoring and alerting\n\n#LI-GA1\n\nWhat’s in it for you?\n - Competitive salary and full benefits, including Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401k\n - Workstation and tools of your choice\n - Paid attendance to conferences\n - Complimentary catered lunch and an endless supply of snacks & drinks (in-office)\n - Monthly snack boxes (remote)\n - Company funded happy hours/events\n - Discounted fitness membership with ClassPass\n - Generous maternity and/or paternity leave and contributions towards fertility preservation\n - A team full of incredibly curious and friendly people\n\nOkCupid is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all employees. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on previous jobs related to Developer, Engineer and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $60,000 — $110,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nNew York, New York

🚀 A little about Rupa - The future is personalized, root-cause healthcare.\n\nRupa makes lab testing simple. Through Rupa, practitioners can order testing not available through the average hospital, such as DNA testing, microbiome testing, advanced fertility and hormone testing, and more.\n\nThis comprehensive and personalized approach to healthcare is the missing piece for the millions of people suffering from complex, chronic health conditions. At Rupa, we are building the infrastructure to make this root-cause approach the standard of care for every person on the planet. 🌎\n\nStarting with lab testing, Rupa is bringing tools and resources to trailblazing practitioners who are practicing medicine in a way that truly helps people get well. \n\n\n🙏 Our Supporters - We're grateful to be backed by world class investors and advisors. \n\nWe’re backed by and work closely with our world class investors: First Round Capital, Floodgate (Mike Maples), SV Angel (Ron Conway), Lachy Groom, Trae Vassallo (Defy), healthcare domain experts, former founders with successful exits, the product brains behind Gmail, Facebook newsfeed, Dropbox, and more. \n\nWe’re also fortunate to be advised by the best in the industry, including the Head of Health and co-founder of IDEO, the co-founder of Honor HomeCare, domain experts with backgrounds from Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Johns Hopkins, and more. \n\nWe’ve been growing like crazy over the past year, with exponential month-over-month growth. To help fuel this rapid growth we’ve recently closed a round from First Round Capital, one of the top venture capital firms in the world. \n\nA company is only as good as its people, and so we’re looking for a kick ass full-stack engineer who can join us on this fast-paced journey.\n\n\n🤩 The Role - A day in the life of a full-stack engineer at Rupa.\n\nYou’ll be joining our product team at Rupa as one of the first engineers! RenoFi

RenoFi is hiring a
Remote Senior Backend Engineer

About RenoFi\nThe demand for home renovations has never been stronger, yet, it's surprisingly difficult for a new homeowner to renovate. It can take a decade to build up enough home equity and savings to pay for a major renovation. As a result, recent homeowners do a lot of financially-suboptimal things to compensate like borrow from their 401k, rack up credit card debt, and use high-interest personal loans. Or they just live unhappily for years in a home that doesn't meet their family's needs.\n\nBut by completing a major renovation, homeowners are increasing the value of their home. Professional real estate investors leverage this After Renovation Value (ARV) to roll the increase in value into new properties all the time. But there hasn't been a great way for homeowners to take advantage of this. If homeowners had an ability to borrow against the ARV, they could increase their borrowing power up to 10x.\n\nTo meet this need, RenoFi created a platform that enables homeowners to borrow funds from RenoFi approved lenders in the form of the first home equity loan purpose-built for renovations! Unlike standard home equity loans, RenoFi Loans use the value of your home post-renovation which lets you borrow the most money at the best possible terms.  RenoFi is creating a full suite of renovation loan products to better suit the needs of today’s homeowners!\n\nFor homeowners, RenoFi makes it possible to renovate years earlier than might be otherwise feasible. For contractors, we empower the financing of renovations at the point of sale, reducing instances of scope reduction, and ensuring prompt payment. Our lender partners, most often credit unions, rely on RenoFi's platform to generate loans, create efficiencies, and grow membership. The lenders pay RenoFi for the new loans, which allows us to offer our services to homeowners for free. RenoFi is truly a win-win-win for everyone involved.\n\nRenoFi is backed by some of the best startup investors in the world, including Canaan Partners and First Round Capital.\n\nWhat you’ll do at RenoFi\n\nOur team is focused on crafting an experience that makes the complex process of financing a renovation accessible, easy to understand, and even a bit whimsical at times (thanks to our fantastic product design team!). On a given day, we might be working on the interfaces that will help homeowners navigate the process of financing their renovation, or the systems that enable our lending partners. \n\nWe're still a small team. You’ll have a ton of impact and work across a number of areas. You'll work with the team to build new product functionality from start to finish as well as polish the existing product. You'll contribute in the product process, exploring options to solve our customers' needs, thinking through system design and scalability, and ultimately implementing features across the stack.\n\nWe work within a microservices architecture running on GCP. We use Ruby, Google Cloud SQL, GraphQL, Redis, Sidekiq, RabbitMQ, Docker, and Kubernetes. Our frontend is built in React with TypeScript. We use a lot open source technology and encourage finding ways to make components of our applications open source in return - you can see more at on our Github page. \n\n\n\n\n\nWe are committed to hiring and cultivating a diverse team. If you are uncertain about whether you meet our requirements, please apply anyway!\n\nWe are a globally distributed team\n\nRenoFi has been built from the start as a fully distributed team with an intentional focus on growing a strong team and culture that spans timezones and nationalities. Here's one fun example!\n\nPlease highlight any prior experience working remotely when applying. US or GMT-adjacent timezones will be prioritized.\n\nRenoFi offers competitive cash and equity compensation. Some benefit offerings will vary from country to country. In the United States, we offer competitive health and retirement plans. All staff across the globe enjoy a flexible vacation policy.\n\nRead more about RenoFi\n\nOur post announcing our funding: https://www.renofi.com/blog/financing-should-not-be-the-hardest-part-of-renovating/\n\nBlog post by our lead investor announcing his investment in RenoFi: https://www.canaan.com/latest/brendan-dickinson-announcing-our-investment-in-renofi\n\nNational coverage by Housing Wire: https://www.housingwire.com/articles/renofi-raises-6-4-million-to-help-lenders-offer-home-renovation-loans/\n\n#LI-Remote \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on previous jobs related to Senior, Engineer and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nRemote
