Shardeum is hiring a
Remote Software Engineer

About the Company:ย

Shardeum is a sharded EVM-based L1 smart contract platform with a mission to enable decentralization for everyone. The Shardeum Foundation has raised $18MM in seed funding from notable investors such as Jane Street, The Spartan Group, Struck Crypto and Balaji Srinivasan to name a few.

Currently, decentralized applications are limited by rising gas fees and long transaction queues as a result of blockchains that canโ€™t scale. Our team envisions a world where decentralized applications are adopted globally, enabling a more equitable society with less power put in the hands of a few centralized entities.ย

To accelerate the adoption of dApps, Shardeum is building the most advanced iteration of a state sharded smart contract platform. Dynamic state sharding enables Shardeum to increase TPS with each node added to the network. We are obsessed with making the vision for a decentralized future a reality and seek individuals who share the same passion. The Shardeum Foundation is a small but highly experienced team distributed globally who have worked with NASA, Yahoo, Raytheon, Zynga, Microsoft, Ethereum Foundation, PayPal, etc.ย

Upvest is hiring a
Remote Backend Engineer Corporate Actions

\nWeโ€™re looking for fintech enthusiasts to join us in creating the financial infrastructure of tomorrow. Weโ€™re building the first European Investment API to enable any financial institution to offer a broad range of investment products in their apps. Our view is backed by Europe's largest tech VCs (Earlybird, Notion Capital, Partech, HV Capital, ABN AMRO Ventures) by renowned fintech entrepreneurs (including Maximilian Tayenthal, founder of N26, and Felix Haas, founder of IDnow) and Bessemer Venture Partners in the USA.\n\nWeโ€™re based in Berlin but would consider hiring remotely for this role. If you do want to move to Berlin though, weโ€™re happy to support your relocation.\nAt Upvest, our vision is to make investing as easy as spending money. By enabling any business to offer investment opportunities, our goal is to empower anyone to invest. Today, we count 100+ talented people from 20 different countries.\n\nYour mission:\nWe are seeking a backend engineer with a product mindset. Your tasks include everything from working together with the team to find out the best ways to solve the problem at hand to implementing and developing the functionality further.\n\nTeam's mission\nCorporate actions, such as dividends, stocks splits and mergers, are one of the key elements of the investments. The Corporate Actions team owns (you guessed it!) the corporate actions domain, and is responsible for building and maintaining the relevant functions. As the product is growing a lot, the team needs to prioritise what to build next, while keeping the functionalities extendable.ย \nThis role will give you the opportunity to:\n\n* \nDesigning and building fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable systems using Microservice architecture powered by Docker, Kubernetes, LinkerD service mesh, and Kong as a Gateway\n\n* \nBuilding event-driven applications using Kafka\n\n* \nWorking on different aspects of our API-product portfolio\n\n* \nDeveloping data processing and storing mechanisms\n\n* \nWorking on improving the reliability of our API tools, as well as developing innovative new tools\n\n* \nWorking with an agile methodology with flexible processes\n\n* \nWorking with cutting edge technologies (Go is the primary language) without legacy codebase\n\n* \nLearn what it is like to work in a growing FinTech startup, and gain understanding of the corporate actions domain\n\n\n\nWhat youโ€™ll bring:\n\n* \nPrior experience with distributed systems\n\n* \nExperience in Go (or willingness to make Go your day-to-day language)\n\n* \nFluency with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL (transaction isolation, performance optimization)\n\n\n\n\n* \nFluency with event-driven architecture and concurrent algorithms\n\n* \nBeing proactive in learning new stacks and having a high sense of ownership\n\n\n\nItโ€™s nice if you have:\n\n* \nExperience with Investment products or Fintech domain in general is a big plus\n\n* \nExperience in event-driven architectures, event streaming and event sourcing systems.\n\n* \nExperience with Docker, k8s, understanding principles of a service mesh\n\n* \nExperience with Monitoring and Tracing using Datadog or other modern observability tools\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy Upvest?\n * We're working on solving a hard problem: fixing the European securities financial infrastructure that empowers more people to be able to invest. You have the opportunity to contribute to this change.\n * We invest in you. From access to a personal coach, development budget and plenty of opportunities to grow in your role.\n * We take hiring seriously with a strong focus on keeping a high bar when interviewing (equally important is that we hire decent people, who are passionate about their craft and helping us achieve our shared mission).\n * While we're not quite fully-remote, we are committed to being a flexible employer, as we understand you don't have to be in the office to do your best work.\n * We live a culture of empowerment, trust (that we hire the best people and get out of their way) and openness (there's a greater advantage in sharing information than keeping it to ourselves).\n \n\nOur values:\n\n * Learn and grow. We aim high to shape our future. We give and request honest feedback knowing that we develop together. Progression over Perfection.\n * Team first. We make it easy for others. We value our differences and are open to others' opinions. We win and celebrate together! Team over Egos.\n * Own the outcome. Whether we win or we lose, we stand together. We are proactive and get the job done. Outcome over Process.\n * Tell the story. We always start with the why. We share knowledge to empower others. Transparency over Complexity.\n \n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to API, Engineer and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nWorldwide

Basket is hiring a
Remote Senior Backend Engineer

Overview

We are Basket (www.trybasket.com) โ€“ a fresh and exciting new approach to save, share and follow the things you love, and the people who love them too. Basket keeps you organised, up to date, and helps you buy better across all shopping categories.

To continue our growth weโ€™re seeking a Senior Backend Engineer located in London or Auckland. With your strong production experience of Python and ETL processes, youโ€™ll play a key role in our data extraction, transformation pipelines, data storage (MongoDB), and data delivery via AWS API Gateway (Rest APIs) and AWS AppSync (GraphQL). Youโ€™ll need a deep understanding and experience with serverless AWS (Lamba with EventBridge), and knowledge of the serverless framework (https://www.serverless.com/) would be a significant benefit.

To excel in this role, youโ€™ll learn quickly, think big, and deliver rock-solid results in a fast-paced startup environment. You implicitly know how to balance safe decisions while proactively researching and running code experiments. Youโ€™re someone who embraces collaboration and feedback with open arms. You continuously look for ways to grow yourself, help teammates, and opportunities to make the products you work on stronger. This is a chance to join an innovative team where you will be challenged, and have significant input to shape a product we believe will become a global household name. This is an exciting opportunity to join our backend team at a pivotal time in our journey.

This role is development focused, with a small amount of coaching required for junior team members.

How We Work at Basket

At Basket, we work in 2 week development cycles with a clearly defined goal. Weโ€™re inspired by companies like Linear where quality work is more important than quantity of features released. We plan each cycle well ahead of time with team discussions, research and workshops to make sure weโ€™re making informed decisions.

Hereโ€™s how our typical cycle looks;

  • 2 weeks before a cycle we plan and define requirements for features

  • 1 week before a cycle we do technical due diligence and write acceptance criteria

  • During a cycle we write code using test-driven development, test code to development and staging environments, collaborate with QA, Design and PM team members to ensure features are production ready.

What You'll Do

  • Write, improve and maintain serverless functions to accurately transform and load data into efficient and organised MongoDB storage

  • Develop and maintain 3rd party data clients to enrich stored data

  • Create and update API endpoints for a frontend client using AWS API Gateway (Rest APIs) and AWS AppSync (GraphQL)

  • Analyse and tune application performance with a focus on efficiency using analytics tools such as Lumigo, Sentry, Segment and DataDog

  • Research and architect solutions using serverless architecture patterns

Basket is hiring a
Remote Senior Flutter Engineer

Overview

We are Basket (trybasket.com) โ€“ a fresh and exciting new approach to save, share and follow the things you love, and the people who love them too. Basket keeps you organised, up to date, and helps you buy better across all shopping categories.

To continue our growth weโ€™re seeking a Senior Flutter Engineer located in London or Auckland. To excel in this role and have a positive impact on our customer success, youโ€™ll need strong production experience with Flutter (preferably e-commerce), and a glowing track record building delightful mobile experiences. We have a separate backend team and Basket is already live in production, so your key focus will be scoping and building new features, and maintaining a kickass Flutter codebase for mobile. Some native work will be required in addition to Flutter, so experience with either Swift or Kotlin is essential.

To thrive at Basket, youโ€™ll learn quickly, think big, and deliver rock-solid results in a fast-paced startup environment. Youโ€™ll balance safe decisions while proactively researching and running code experiments.

Hereโ€™s how our typical cycle looks

  • 2 weeks before a cycle we plan and define requirements for features

  • 1 week before a cycle we do technical due diligence and write acceptance criteria

  • During a cycle we write code using test-driven development, test code to development and staging environments, collaborate with QA, Design and PM team members to ensure features are production ready.

What You'll Do

  • Scope and agree technical requirements for features in collaboration with design, QA and PM team members

  • Write test-driven Flutter, Dart or Native code to implement feature requirements

  • Implement animations using Lottie, Rive and Flutter frameworks

  • Maintain and improve existing code with a focus on stability and performance

  • Use application monitoring tools to identify new opportunities and fix issues

  • Explore new opportunities and Flutter features to enhance our user experience

  • Take security seriously by implementing tools, code and practices that preserve the integrity of our services and protect customer data

About You

  • Native English is essential

  • Located in, or willing to relocate to London or Auckland

  • 5+ years experience writing production code for iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin).

  • Mastery of Flutter and Dart with at least one published app on iOS (App Store Connect) or Android (Play Store)

  • Excellent knowledge and experience of using Firebase SDK with Flutter

  • Experience integrating and using third-party packages with Flutter, iOS and Android

  • Keen eye for good design, and enjoy collaborating with designers to implement modern, intuitive and delightful customer experiences

  • Intuitively look for ways to keep code modular, efficient, and maintainable

  • Motivated by working in a team with a flat structure where your knowledge and input have a direct impact on product definition and business success

  • Excited to learn, share and step outside of your comfort zone

Good To Have

  • University degree in computer science, or equivalent experience

  • Experience working in a VC-backed startup environment
