Remote Software Development Manager

Well… you might just be in the right place!\n\nLightspeed Payments is looking for a Software Development Manager in Europe (Berlin or Amsterdam) to grow and lead our technical team within the Payments organization.\n\nReporting to the Head of Payments, you will help us lead, mentor and grow a high-performing software development team and cultivate an inclusive, inspiring working culture. Under your guidance, developers will deliver Payments products and services that are mission-critical to Lightspeed’s long-term vision and growth.\n\nWe are looking for a leader with a solid, demonstrable technical background, who can earn the respect of developers with their knowledge and experience. You will have a proven track record of supporting, mentoring, leading and growing a development team, and of delivering high-scale cloud-based software systems. You will enjoy problem-solving and removing blockers to the team’s progress, and will have experience collaborating with Product teams and customer stakeholders. You will be an effective and clear communicator who can direction-set and track team delivery in a distributed, fast-moving and rapidly-changing agile environment.\n\nFor this role, you should be located in one of the following locations - Berlin, Belfast or Amsterdam. We offer a choice of fully remote, office-based or hybrid work environments, in cities with local Lightspeed offices.\n\nWhat you’ll be responsible for:\n\n\n* Guiding, motivating and growing a team of software developers as they solve complex problems in the Payments domain\n\n* Directly and indirectly managing a team through collaboration with, and mentorship of, its Team Lead staff member\n\n* Working closely with architects, Product teams, engineering leadership and stakeholders to align on team priorities and roadmaps\n\n* Identifying, communicating and removing impediments and risks to delivery, within the team and across Payments as a whole\n\n* Planning and furthering the professional growth of individual team members, including 1-1s, performance reviews, ongoing feedback, goal-setting and promotions\n\n* Reporting up to engineering leadership and stakeholders on team progress and status\n\n* Finding and hiring top talent for your team and the wider organization\n\n* Providing technical and process guidance to the team during delivery\n\n\n\n\nWhat you’ll be bringing to the team:\n\n\n* Experience leading a team of developers through successful delivery of software products\n\n* Experience delivering microservice-driven, scalable, cloud-based applications\n\n* Strong working knowledge of Java or TypeScript\n\n* Professional experience in agile development and continuous delivery best practices\n\n* Strong written and verbal English communication skills\n\n* Ability to personally coach, mentor and drive individuals and overall teams\n\n* Strong passion for continuous learning and improvement\n\n* A quality-driven mindset with a focus on software scalability and resilience\n\n\n\n\nSome additional things that would be a bonus:\n\n\n* Experience in the Payments domain\n\n* Experience in building scalable SaaS solutions\n\n* Experience in full-stack web application development\n\n* Solid knowledge of cloud services (AWS and GCP in particular)\n\n* Project Management or Scrum master experience, or formal training\n\n* Experience in test automation and/or DevOps engineering\n\n\n\n\nWho you are:\n\n\n* A leader with strong people skills who can manage and represent your team\n\n* A teacher and mentor helping individuals to grow and reach their full potential\n\n* A communicator who can clearly convey requirements, best practices and status updates to both technical and non-technical audiences\n\n* A problem-solver who embraces tackling complexity and removing roadblocks\n\n* A decisive decision-maker who can handle change and ambiguity\n\n\n\n\nWhat is in for you \n\n\n* Lots of autonomy, flexible work culture and possibility of remote work\n\n* Development of high traffic products, used at the global scale \n\n* Exposure to modern and proven technology\n\n* Opportunity to learn and expand your skill set\n\n* Tons of growth opportunities into technical or people management roles\n\n* Amazing benefits & perks, including equity for all Lightspeeders\n\n* Opportunity to join a fast-paced, high-growth company\n\n* Become a valued part of the diverse and inclusive Lightspeed family\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
