\n\nAbout Protocol Labs\n\nProtocol Labs drives breakthroughs in computing to push humanity forward. Protocol Labs is a product-development lab, but behind the protocols and tools we build, behind the research and implementations, are passionate people, teammates, and community members. Most teams in the Protocol Labs Network are fully distributed and work remotely around the world. Engineers, researchers, and operators work in the open to improve the internet โ humanity's most important technology โ as we explore new advances at the intersection of many exciting fields (web3, cryptography, networks, distributed systems) and cultures (startups, research, open-source, distributed work).\nAbout Outercore\n\nOutercore is the division of Protocol Labs that leads technical, business, and community programs to build the future of p2p distributed networks and empower our many communities โ from decentralized web developers, to browsers, to blockchain projects, to data storage hosts. Everything Outercore does is open source. Weโre comfortable sharing unfinished work and trying out new things. The goal is to come up with solutions the entire ecosystem can benefit from. \nAs a Director of Marketing in Outercore, you willโฆ\n\n\nLead all efforts to amplify IPFS, Filecoin, and all of Protocolโs projects by overseeing the planning, development, and execution of marketing, branding, thought leadership, growth, and advertising.\n\nPlay a key role in all growth initiatives and have leadership in areas that range from creative influence to business strategy.\n\nBe the chief storyteller and act both as the architect and steward of the initiatives by telling the brand stories and inviting consumers, developers, and partners to participate in the journey.\n\nServe as a customer champion to align the entire organization around its mission of improving all of our lives through technology.\n\nBuild, coach, and scale the geographically distributed marketing team with a global strategic view.\n\nGrow the current team by 2-3x this year, with a strong focus on senior hires, including Senior Content Lead, Senior PR Lead, and Senior Digital Marketing Lead.\n\nOversee and lead all aspects of marketing as Protocol Labs transitions from a centralized marketing function to a model where marketing leaders are embedded in different projects and products.\n\nAudit the current state of the marketing organization and create a clear strategy and clear dashboards/metrics for success. Manage the execution of a highly structured marketing plan in a precise manner. Ensure all department goals align and all targets are being met.\n\nUtilize a variety of marketing strategies/campaigns tailored to different projects/products, including traditional media (i.e., TV), digital media, content, public relations, events (especially those highlighting the organizationโs thought leadership), performance marketing, and regionalization/localization.\n\nLead marketing efforts to three distinct but complementary audiences: consumers, developers, and enterprises.\n\nLead internal marketing efforts to the existing, passionate Protocol Labs community and external marketing efforts to target customer bases and the Web3 community.\n\nProvide the voice of the customer to drive innovation, map customer demand, and build a business around where customers are going.\n\nEnsure brand and consumer experience remain consistent across Protocol Labsโ earned, owned, and paid footprint.\n\nChampion in-depth data analytics combined with customer/stakeholder insights to provide a robust understanding of the current market and its future direction.\n\nEstablish and communicate marketing goals and strategies and overall execution of marketing initiatives, with a particular focus on the continuous expansion of Protocol Labsโ products and services, fulfilling Protocol Labsโ purpose and protecting Protocol Labsโ core values.\n\nAct as a highly organized leader with strong communication and relationship-building skills, demonstrating keen emotional intelligence, charisma, influence, and integrity.\n\nDevelop and manage the marketing budget and set the direction for allocation of marketing resources across the company.\n\nAssist in creating and presenting the marketing plan and strategy across the enterprise. Determine KPIs for the Marketing Department, provide oversight and execution of effective campaigns, ensure that costs are fully justified by growth objectives and revenue goals, and maintain/expand a metrics-based approach to spending.\n\nOversee third-party marketing vendors, including Protocol Labsโ existing agency partners.\n\nMaintain a leadership role in the industry by speaking at and attending relevant industry events and ensuring internal resources are developed and serve as educators and ambassadors as appropriate.\n\nProduce high quality content that positions Protocol Labs as an industry thought leader, including podcasts, tweets, whitepapers, case studies, webinars, blogs, etc.\n\nEffectively understand the competitive environment and Protocol Labsโ unique value-add to support growth.\n\n\n\nYou may be a fit for this role if youโฆ\n\n\n10+ years related experience in marketing and management, including digital marketing. Previous experience with a high growth/complex business, blockchain, or technology-related company preferred.\n\nExperience (and continued interest in) working with a lean team and playing an active role in company growth. Demonstrated experience scaling an organization with significant growth across multiple verticals.\n\nAbility and willingness to create processes and procedures from scratch.\n\nExperience with community building (i.e., storytelling, creating a shared narrative, aligning different product owners, etc.). Experience working with developer communities, preferred.\n\nExperience with metrics-based marketing.\n\nProven management and leadership experience over a creative team. Ability to establish structure, assign and manage teams, and keep them focused and accountable. S/he should be a values-based leader who can build and maintain a high integrity culture.\n\nRespected leader who can assess, retain, and develop talent as well as attract industry experts to support strategic initiatives.\n\nExperience โspeaking the languageโ of a cutting-edge tech community and willingness to learn the nuances of the crypto world.\n\n\n\nBonus pointsโฆ\n\n\nIf you have experience working in web3\n\nIf you have worked on projects in the future of work space\n\n\n\nWhatโs it like to work at Protocol Labs?\n \nProtocol Labs' mission is to improve humanityโs most important technology, the Internet.
