Lightup Network Solutions GmbH & Co. KG is a small ISP and telecommunications service provider (VoIP) based in Frankfurt, Germany. Lightup's team is 100% remote, distributed worldwide (Germany, Portugal, Serbia, Morocco, Brazil, Colombia) and consists currently of just 7 mostly non-tech people. Now we need a hybrid Web Dev / Sys Admin tech pro to join our small team. Lightup was established in 1998 as a ISP focused on webhosting and dedicated servers. Since 2011 Lightup has shifted its core business towards internet-based telecommunication services, primarily so-called DIDs a.k.a. virtual telephone numbers along with international retail and wholesale call termination (VoIP, SIP). In 2022 Lightup became a licensed telecom operator in Switzerland and the wholesale business has been booming since then.
Your tasks would be:
Short-term (now - 6 months): Create multiple new commercial telecom-oriented web-based services from scratch based on the team's ideas (PHP + MySQL preferred, but really up to you)
In the mid-term (6 - 12 months), create, re-design & code from scratch successor sites for outdated Joomla-based sites
Create Linux console-based or web-based scripts and tools to support the team, such as customer accounting scripts / accounting & billing automation or VoIP buy- and sell-rates output automation (Bash, Perl, Python, PHP - your choice)
Take care of 30+ KVM-based VMs and the 20+ underlaying physical servers running CentOS
Keep CentOS installations updated, migrate those which are too old to new installations
Set up new VoIP customers in our VoIP system / cluster (Asterisk, Kamailio)
Analyze, troubleshoot and fix SIP and DID call issues / Work & communicate with vendors and customers alike
Provide technical customer & order support for our 2 Joomla-based retail telecom services
Create a new API from scratch for lawful interception compatibility / requests
Constantly communicate with the team (WhatsApp, Slack) and help them to make their non-tech jobs easier by the creation of cool & useful new tools

This is a freelancer position, meaning you'll be responsible for taking care of paying taxes, health insurance, social insurance, pension fund etc. by yourself.
You'll be working just 6 hours per day, not 8 hours. But since Lightup's team is global and so are our customers those 6 hours will be spread over the course of a day European time (CET, Berlin) between 10:00 and 22:00. About The Role
Our infrastructure as code library and platform team delivers an end-to-end, best-practices infrastructure on AWS in just days, all as a product. In this role, you’ll collaborate with other senior-level engineers to define the next generation of AWS and DevOps best practices, codify them for use by thousands of engineers, and design a next-level experience for implementing, operating and understanding them.
What You'll Work On
Build a better DevOps experience. We have a unique product that generates complete, multi-account AWS architectures for Terraform and Terragrunt in just a few hours using a collection of internal Golang tools. Help us take this to the next level by using that product to deliver prod architectures directly to customers, and then leveraging their feedback for improvements. Better yet, help us get to the point where the entire experience is completely automated or self-service.
Codify AWS and Terraform best practices. Customers look to Gruntwork to share the best way to launch on AWS. Discover AWS and Terraform best practices, and then codify them as repeatable patterns that Gruntwork customers can pull off the shelf.
Integrate with the Gruntwork platform. Integrate your product work with our company-wide platform, which consists of a REST API (Next.js/Typescript), a web-based single-page app (Next.js/React/Typescript, Tailwind), and a first-class CLI tool (Go).
Build out the Infrastructure as Code Library. Create and maintain reusable infrastructure modules for a variety of infrastructure (e.g., EKS, ECS, RDS, VPC, Lambda, EC2, S3, ElastiCache, etc.), using a variety of tools (e.g., Terraform, Go, Python, Bash, Docker, Packer, etc.) on AWS.

Compatible Time Zones
You'll be working with a team in the US time zones, so you can be located in almost any country as long as your time zone is no further west than Los Angeles (GMT-8/GMT-7) and no further east than New York (GMT-5/GMT-4). Provide feedback, suggestions, and strategy for improving client outcomes.

About the job
Big picture, you'll be working toward an overarching goal:
Work to ensure Booster Apps operates smoothly by implementing our existing playbooks and key processes. You’ll be the lead for the business on a day to day basis, while also liaising with the founder on strategy.
Booster Apps is run using the EOS framework where we currently have a nimble team of 12 awesome team members.
What will you be responsible for?
Oversee day-to-day operations of our existing Booster Apps team to ensure they continue to deliver exceptional experiences.
Run the playbook and pre-built strategy to ensure the business is running smoothly.
Track and take ownership of key metrics and initiatives in the business.
Identify needs for new teammates, then hire for those roles.
Lead a weekly meeting to report on high level business metrics
Maintain a strong culture of customer success that is centered around helping merchants boost their online sales.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, engineering, marketing, etc.) on moving initiatives forward.
Solve problems that arise – and document solutions.
Who you are

This individual will participate in the ideation of and delivery of key aspects of our new architecture ranging from data ingestion, consumer behavioral insights, machine learning, data governance and customer privacy. The scope of this role is all aspects of data management for Time Inc. and its brands.\n\nThis role will involve software development of key data platform modules for Time Inc.'s next-generation data platform ecosystem. Responsibilities for engineering will span all aspects of data, including but not limited to: data ingestion, governance, machine learning, analytics and insights and personalization systems. You will contribute to the ecosystem's design and architecture, and be responsible for detailed design of full vertical modules within the data platform. This role involves both coaching/mentoring of other engineers as well as significant hands-on engineering. Strong test-driven development skills and incremental and rapid iteration in your development ethic is critical for this fast-moving and key initiative for Time Inc. Proven track-record of developing large-scale systems using service-oriented architecture and cloud technologies is a must as that will be part of your routine role. Our efforts will include both individual system development as well as assessment and integration of third-party software products. Knowledge and experience utilizing standardized APIs and specifications are preferred. Knowledge in the data space around data management, ingestion, and learning is a must.
