Remote Staff UX Designer

\n\nXometry is looking for a Staff UX Designer to join the User Experience team. You will be working closely with Product Managers and software developers to create compelling experiences for engineers and manufacturers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the support of other designers, researchers, and writers.  \nTeam Values\n\n\n\nWe support each otherโ€™s success. We take it as both an individual and a team responsibility to foster an environment of support and learning. We are resources to each other; we share knowledge regularly, share feedback freely, and coach each other as peers. We support each other through challenging situations, pick each other up when we make mistakes, and celebrate our wins together.\n\nWe take the time to understand and listen to each other. We create space for people to offer different (and sometimes differing) perspectives, and incorporate that into our decision-making. We look to highlight our individual strengths and find ways to incorporate them into our research practice. \n\nWe are flexible. We have the flexibility to approach our work using the techniques and methods appropriate to the problem at hand. At the same time, we can rely on the systems and guidelines that weโ€™ve developed to feel more confident that their decisions fit within our strategic direction.\n\nWe are collaborative. We gather perspectives from our customers, our stakeholders, and our colleagues to help make informed decisions about the direction of our experience. We have a seat at the table, and we use it to facilitate richer discussions about our customerโ€™s needs.\n\n\n\nResponsibilities\n\n\n\nLead complex, multidisciplinary initiatives. Partner with product managers, engineering leads, and stakeholders to identify problems and opportunities, develop strategies, prioritize features, and effectively execute on them.\n\nWork closely with other designers and developers to improve and maintain design consistency across other product areas. \n\nPrototype features with user flows, wireframes, and high fidelity designs.\n\nUse different usability testing methods to identify the right solutions for our customers.\n\nCoach other designers. Develop the overall proficiency of the team in different aspects of UX design.\n\nBe a steward of our team culture and help cultivate a respectful, productive, and engaging work environment on the team.\n\n\n\nRequirements\n\n\n\nYou have at least 7 years of experience working as part of a UX team in a cross-functional environment.\n\nYou have experience designing for web apps in marketplace companies or in companies with a strong service design component.. \n\nYou have strong communication skills. You are a strong advocate for the power of design thinking. You can effectively describe your approach and your decision-making to stakeholders, engineers, and other designers.\n\nYou have โ€œT-shapedโ€ UX design skills. You are particularly strong in at least one area of UX design, and know how to collaborate with experts in other fields to drive better outcomes.\n\nYou know how to work with Product Managers and engineering leads to drive the right outcomes for our users and the business.\n\nYou have a portfolio that effectively showcases your decision-making and experience designing products for web and mobile.\n\nMust be a US citizen, green card holder, or a legal permanent resident of the United States\n\n\n\n\n#LI-Remote\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Design and Designer jobs that are similar:\n\n $35,000 — $60,000/year\n

Vox Media, LLC is hiring a

Remote Senior Policy Politics & Ideas Editor

\nVox is seeking an experienced editor to oversee a team of writers who explore and explain the impact of ideas on global and American culture, politics, and daily life. This editor should be comfortable leading a diverse team covering a wide range of subjects, including but not limited to international news, domestic politics and policy, race, culture, and more.\n\n \n\nThis position will work under the editorial director for policy, politics and ideas, but this role will not be focused on news coverage of political or policy developments. Weโ€™re looking for an editor who can help put the day-to-day in perspective and see around the corner to help readers understand influential ideas and arguments, in formats ranging from quick daily pieces to in-depth, argument-driven (but still reported) features and essays. \n\n \n\nInstead of writing about, say, the latest developments in the Middle East in an incremental way, we want writers to find a sharp angle that cuts through the conversation, or a step-back explainer that gives the reader a comprehensive understanding of the region, or an argument-driven reported essay that makes the case for a certain policy. Instead of reporting the daily back-and-forth on a bill in Congress, we want an editor to assign pieces that zoom out to the underlying problem, or offer a crisp perspective on what the fight says about the state of the American political system. In other words, we want distinctive angles on the day's news, something that adds value to what's already being reported in dozens of other outlets.\n\n \n\nThis editor should be comfortable working with different formats and thinking creatively about the best way to approach major events and conversations of today, while guiding writers to do entrepreneurial intellectual work to find the emerging ideas that will shape those events tomorrow. \n\n \n\nYou should think about news and sourcing broadly โ€” how can ideas in history, social science, activism or legal academia help us understand whatโ€™s happening now? Which thinkers are doing important work that will reshape mainstream discourse or shed light on major events? We're looking for a wide-ranging intellect who is comfortable in the world of ideas, broadly conceived. \n\n \nWHO WE ARE\n\nVox candidly shepherds audiences through politics and policy, business and pop culture, food, science, and everything else that matters.\n\nVox is part of Vox Media, the leading modern media company. We guide our audience from discovery to obsession. We inspire essential conversations about whatโ€™s now, whatโ€™s next, and whatโ€™s possible.\n\nAs a community of journalists and storytellers, business professionals, creators and technologists, we believe it is a moral and business imperative to amplify voices: to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our organization and media. This applies to our candidates, our teams, our storytelling, our creative work, and our platforms, products, and partnerships.\n\n \nWHAT YOUโ€™LL DO\n\n\n* Set the broader editorial vision and daily coverage priorities for a small team of reporters\n\n* Conceptualize, assign, and edit pieces rooted in reporting and research, including explainers, argument-driven essays, and features\n\n* Stay on top of the news, both foreign and domestic, to find the angles that will lead to truly distinctive analytical, contextual, and deeply informed journalism\n\n* Manage and lead our team of writers, with an eye toward expanding our freelance stable\n\n* Find opportunities for collaboration with Voxโ€™s audio and video teams and other editors across the Vox newsroom\n\n\n\n\n \nWHO YOU ARE\n\n\n* 5 yearsโ€™ experience editing\n\n* Strong leadership, management, and editing skills\n\n* Analytical rigor. We want an editor with an ability to pressure-test our own writersโ€™ arguments and steelman opposing ones. We want an editor who can confidently edit pieces that explain ideas and/or stake out intellectual claims, and who is eager to assign and edit pieces that embrace nuance and complicate narratives without sacrificing clarity. \n\n* Excellent news judgment and a demonstrated ability to bring analysis and sharp angles to news stories\n\n* Familiarity with or interest in a range of subject areas -- history, political science, economics, foreign policy and IR, science and tech, among others. To be clear, expertise in any (let alone all) of these fields is not an expectation. Weโ€™re seeking a curious, peripatetic mind to guide a team with a range of intellectual passions.\n\n* Experience editing/familiarity with foreign coverage is a plus. Though this is not primarily a foreign affairs editing position, we do expect our writers to be able to analyze and offer perspectives on developments in the wider world.\n\n\n\n\nIf you think you have what it takes, but don't meet every single point in our job posting, please apply with a cover letter to let us know how you believe you can bring your unique skills to the Vox Media team or get in touch! Weโ€™ve hired chefs who became editors, DJs who became UX designers, and sommeliers who became writers.\n\n \nWHERE YOUโ€™LL WORK\n\nThis job is remote.\n\n \nWHY VOX MEDIA?\nWHAT WE OFFER\n\nThis is a permanent, full-time position. This job is benefits-eligible. We pride ourselves in providing comprehensive benefits to support all of our employees wherever they are in life. You can find more information about our benefits here.\n\n \nOUR DEI+ COMMITMENT\n\nVox Media is committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone can show up as their authentic selves and create their best work. We recognize that great stories, platforms, products and services come from people with all manner of backgrounds and experiences. We recognize that our commitments require ongoing work and sustained attention, as well as adaptation to new insights and best practices. We keep our diversity data public for the sake of accountability, transparency and communication. Vox Media will also consider all qualified applicants with criminal histories in accordance with applicable Fair Chance laws. We are also committed to providing reasonable accommodations as part of the application process to candidates with disabilities. If you require a reasonable accommodation as part of the application process, please contact our People & Culture team ([email protected]).\n\n \nWHAT COMES NEXT\n\nOur recruiting team will go through applications in a timely manner. Please note that our recruiting team will only contact you from @voxmedia.com email addresses, never via text message. **About Administrate**\n\nAdministrate is a training management platform used by hundreds of companies around the world to plan, design, deliver, and measure learning and development for their employees and customers. Our mission is to provide an industry-leading platform that enables enterprises to run their training function more efficiently and effectively so that they can focus more on connecting with people than administrating programs\nOur platform has evolved a lot in recent years, taking us up market, squarely into the enterprise tech space. Weโ€™re delighted with the success weโ€™ve experienced so far, and we enjoy working together. Our headquarters are in Edinburgh, Scotland's capital city. We also have offices in Beirut, Lebanon and in Bozeman, Montana.\nWe're looking for a new designer to join our team who will own our brand identity. This role will be based in the UK and can be a fully remote position.\nIt's our dream at Administrate to be the Ultimate Human Organization. We might build software, but that's not the only area where we add value to our customers; our people are what make us and our customers successful. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because itโ€™s the right thing to do, but because we believe it makes our company stronger. If you share our values we'd love to hear from you.\n\n**Who You Are**\n\nYou're passionate about the confluence of design and marketing strategy. Youโ€™ve developed visual identity for B2B brands and have a robust portfolio of work that demonstrates your impact.\n\nYou thrive on a blend of strategy and production. You know the value of a good brand style guide and have the relationship management skills to help others adhere to it.\n\nYouโ€™re a web-first designer who is equally comfortable in HTML and CSS as in the Adobe Suite, and youโ€™ve led or highly influenced a website redesign or two. Youโ€™re holistic in your design philosophy. You maintain a high value of brand experience congruency across channels and know how to facilitate that experience visually.\n\nYouโ€™re a life-long learner. You remain a student of your craft. You look forward to giving and receiving feedback as opportunities to grow and strengthen key working relationships. You stay connected to emerging design trends in Marketing and are constantly researching competitors and industry leaders for opportunities to distinguish this brand in the market.\n\nYouโ€™re comfortable in a one-person design situation. This role is the sole designer within our small-but-mighty Marketing team. While there are other designers in the company for creative connection, delivering for the Marketing team will be up to you. Youโ€™re competitive by nature and like to help the team win.\n\nYou love to work with smart, creative people and hate mediocrity. Small teams, dynamic organizations, and flexible working environments are what you thrive in. Youโ€™re self-driven and relentlessly optimistic. To you, obstacles are opportunities waiting for a creative solution.\nWork hard. Work smart. Work Well.\n\n**What You'll Do**\n\nYouโ€™ll be responsible for elevating the visual identity of the Administrate brand, ensuring all expressions of our design appeals to and performs well within our priority North American market. \nHi! My name is Emma. Nice to meet you!\n\nI'm the lead developer for a product called Instilled, and we need your help building the best all-remote development team possible. You’ll be entrusted with the freedom and independence to go out and do your best work, and have the opportunity to make a real, outsized contribution to an entirely new culture and identity. And so, if that sounds appealing to you, read on: We’d like you to join us.\n\nOur product is a video delivery platform—think of it like an enterprise YouTube—but it has the potential to be something bigger. We believe it can form the core of a next-generation learning product that consolidates all of an organization’s learning content into a single platform, making it easy for learners to find relevant content and for companies to make sense of all the data these learning activities generate. This is a unique opportunity, because Instilled already has a stable and profitable customer base, but this new direction gives us the chance to tap into a large new market.\n\nRequirements\n\nWe'll be honest: like many companies, we find ourselves facing down the impending end-of-life of AngularJS. We're going to have to rewrite our frontend, and we need somebody with the high-level experience to lead the charge and design, with the aid of one other full-time frontend dev. Because we will be rewriting so much, you'll have an outsize role in determining the particular technologies you'll be working with. And while we're making massive changes in the design, it will be a good opportunity to do a thorough UX review of the software, to make sure we're really delivering on our promise of an e-learning platform that's a joy for learners to use.\n\nExcellent applicants will share our values, namely:\n\n\n* A strong commitment to testing. If we're going to redesign an app from the ground up, then we want to make sure it's tested from the very first release.\n\n* Fluency with UX design concepts. We’ll have some help from a UX designer, but many times we’re going to rely on you to tell us whether that selector should be a dropdown or a radio button.\n\n* Excellent communication skills. You're going to be making some big decisions, and you will have to convince the rest of your team that these are the right decisions—and then document those decisions, so that new team members can jump in as needed.\n\n* Self-directedness. You own your work and take responsibility for getting it done because your team members are counting on you. Sometimes this means going heads down and just coding. Sometimes it means knowing when to ask for help. But, in all cases, you are the engine driving your work to completion.\n\n* Helpfulness. There is nothing worse in a remote position than feeling stuck. That’s why it’s important to be the kind of person who is willing to help a coworker—to offer insight from when you’ve worked on that same code or to rubber-duck a difficult bug—because we’re all in this together and we’ll all need it in return someday.\n\n* “Reading Comprehension.” There is a product with a storied history here, written by people who knew what they were doing. We may be rewriting a large portion of it, but we must preserve existing functionality. You need to be able to make sense of other people’s legacy code and change it carefully.\n\n* Willingness to speak up. We have a lot of things to figure out—from considering far-reaching architectural decisions, to configuring our linter for tabs or spaces, to figuring out an optimal meeting schedule, to creating an even more welcoming space for our team. We want people who aren’t afraid to speak up and push to make things better.\n\n\n\n\nHow to Apply\n\nIf this is interesting to you, include a cover letter in your application, letting us know why you'd be a great fit for the team. We take culture very seriously, and we cannot evaluate a culture fit from a resume alone: the cover letter is the most important part!\n\n\n* Tell us about what interests you about this job specifically.\n\n* Tell us about the kind of developer you are, what motivates you, how you approach your work, and the kinds of problems you've solved. Don't just list technologies you've worked with—tell us why you love the tools you’ve used.\n\n* Better yet, tell us about a situation or project where you demonstrated the qualities above.\n\n* Tell us whether you prefer tabs or spaces (just kidding).\n\n* Note that applicants must be geographically located in the US and have legal right to work in the US.\n\n\n\n\nIf we move forward, you'll be asked to participate in a quick phone screen and then to complete a brief take-home technical test, followed by a remote interview/screenshare.\n\nWe're looking forward to hearing from you soon!\n\nEmma \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Senior, Front End, Developer, Digital Nomad, Video and Legal jobs that are similar:\n\n $60,000 — $125,000/year\n
