This data platform will be a differentiator for Twilions and our customers.\n\nIn order to realize our goal of allowing our users to easily discover, understand, trust and transform data no matter where it lives within Twilio, you will provide guidance around software architecture and technical decisions for teams that run these platforms with high availability and at a very large scale. We run Kafka, Elasticsearch, Spark, a Hudi-based data lake, Presto, ETL tools, low-latency data stores, multiple data warehouses and a data catalog. As a critical and strategic thought leader, in partnership with engineering teams and product management, you will design our next generation data lake. You will bring your technical expertise to solve difficult problems around end-to-end data reliability and data discovery. You will also work with the AI teams to help them be successful in their mission. \nResponsibilities\n\n\nYou lead the design and architecture for Twilioโs Data Platform, collaborating with stakeholders from different business and functional areas\n\nYou become the go-to technical expert in one or more of Kafka, Spark, Presto, Query processing, Datalakes, Data Warehouses\n\nYou are passionate about engineering hygiene and operational excellence. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!\n\nRequired:\n\n\n10+ years of software development experience including as a tech lead/architect \n\nDeep technical knowledge of one or more of the following - Kafka, Spark, Presto, Query processing, Datalakes, Data Warehouses\n\nEstablished track record of designing and implementing portions of a data platform that is highly scalable and resilient\n\nEvidence of the ability to guide large technical teams and to create a technical vision\n\nTechnical ability demonstrated by papers, github repos and/or presentations \n\nExcellent communication skills including the ability to up-level technical ideas for an exec audience\n\nBS/MS or PhD in Computer Science or a related field\n\nLead Twilioโs data design and architecture for Data & Analytics Platform\n\nProvide guidance and direction to the Data Platform organization as well as data producers leveraging the data platform on how to design and model their schema, services, streaming systems, storage and query infrastructure\n\nLead our architecture design for building, deploying our systems at Petabyte scale with Trillions of events/week.\n\nContinuously reduce the time from data ingest to actionable insights\n\nCollaborate on roadmaps with Product Managers, other Architects, and Tech Leads to ensure the teams have clear direction and priorities\n\nAct as an ambassador for Twilio, recruiting and motivating top talent\n\nBachelors/Masters degree or equivalent experience required, 10+ years of experience.\n\n\n\n\nLocation \n\nThis position is a remote role but is not eligible to be hired in the San Francisco Bay Area.\nWhat We Offer\n\nThere are many benefits to working at Twilio, including, in addition to competitive pay, things like generous time-off, ample parental and wellness leave, healthcare, a retirement savings program, and much more.
