Visit www.cdcfoundation.org for more information. \n\n\nPosition Highlights:\n\n\nPosition Title: Senior Epidemiologist (Quant)\nLocation: Remote\nEnd Date: 6/30/24\nSalary: $90,000 plus benefits\n\n\n\n\nOverview:\n\n\nThe CDC Foundation is seeking a Senior Epidemiologist assigned to the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) to work under general supervision, planning, developing, and conducting epidemiologic investigations, surveillance, and interventions limited in scope and/or complexity to determine the causes of diseases and implement methods of disease control. This position will support routine and ad-hoc reporting around a specific Covid-19 workstream, such as Hospitalizations or Vaccinations.\nThis position will have access to RIDOH COVID data and is expected to bring knowledge of Covid-19 outcomes, strong SAS coding skills, including the ability to process data within a relational database, and excellent written and oral communication skills.\n\n\n\n\nQualifications:\n\n\nยท Masterโs degree in public health, Psychology, Epidemiology, or similar health-related field required. In lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.\nยท 3-5 years of public health research or analytic experience\nยท At least three years of SAS programming experience (not including coursework) Specifically knowing how to:\no Make tables using proc tabulate and proc freq\no Make graphs using proc sgplot or excel.\no Merge and join datasets together, and in particular know how to handle 1-1, 1-many, and many-many merges.\no Import and export tables, graphs, and line lists.\no Have expertise in processing data including synthesizing across rows of data, handling character and numeric data and being able to convert to as needed.\no Have robust QC and debugging techniques to ensure quality output.\nยท Strong experience with Excel including creating graphs and charts to communicate data.\nยท Have a solid understanding of basic epidemiologic reporting practices such as rates vs. counts, adjusted rates, odds ratios, relative risk, and cumulative vs. static reporting methods\nยท Experience with written communication methods and techniques to communicate skillfully and clearly complex scientific and/or technical information to diverse audiences.\nยท Ability to operationalize an analysis request, independently determine suitable output and timeline, and deliver on the request.\nยท Ability to be flexible if circumstances dictate and work under tight deadlines.\nยท Ability to manage multiple sources of online communication (email, conference calls, Teams) to stay connected in a remote environment.\nยท Experience collaborating with other teams/groups.\n\n\n\n\nResponsibilities:\n\n\nยท Serve as subject matter expert for workstream content, including being aware of and communicating changing national guidelines.\nยท Serve as lead thought partner on all reporting related to the workstream.\nยท Work collaboratively with leadership and workstream stakeholders taking the lead on planning and developing reporting that tells the story of the Covid-19 workstream.\nยท Independently code, in SAS, all reporting needed for the workstream.\nยท Draw insights from both the output independently created as well as how that output might connect to the output of colleagues on other workstreams.\nยท Report on interesting trends or an unexpected result to leadership including root cause and reasoning.\nยท Package reporting highlights and insights in slide decks and present them in virtual meetings or provide robust data notes for leadership to present.\nยท Contribute toward process improvements with respect to data management and analysis.\nยท Assist with data cleaning and data management of data relevant to the workstream.\nยท Work as a team to coordinate and synthesize work across multiple surveillance workstreams or on related surveillance efforts.\n\n\n\n\nSpecial Notes:\n\n\nThis role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve.
