Ladder is hiring a

Remote Senior UX Content Designer

About Us\n\nWe saw a problem within the life insurance industry: getting covered took too long, involved too much paperwork, and required too many in-person meetings with salesy agents. Having lost his father at a young age, our CEO, Jamie, was determined to make it easier for people to get the coverage they needed to provide for their families. So, we got to work. We developed a method of real-time underwriting and, in doing so, reduced the months-long process of applying for life insurance to minutes. Our digital experience is quick (instant decisions!), loved by users (check out our Trustpilot or Google reviews) and prolific ($74 billion+ in coverage provided). \n\n\nAbout the Role \n\nThe UX Content Design team balances the user, business, and brand using clear, approachable language to create experiences that put our users first and help make an intimidating topic refreshingly simple. Reporting to the Content Design Manager, this role offers an outstanding opportunity to work on projects from the ground up with cross-functional partners in Design, Engineering, Data Analytics, Product, Compliance and Marketing who value content design and UX writing.  A portfolio is required and must be submitted with a resume.\nResponsibilities\n\n\n* Drive a historically complex topic to feel human, accessible and fresh with language that brings our brand to life down to the smallest microcopy\n\n* Shape the future of Ladder by providing high-level strategy for high-impact experiences such as home page, information architecture, navigation, email, and mobile app\n\n* Influence product development from ideation to wireframing, launching features, and iterating on versions based on data\n\n* Validate concepts through user testing\n\n* Identify opportunities to A/B test when appropriate; launch and learn from minimal viable products (MVPs)\n\n* Ensure consistency across all user touch points: emails, notifications, direct mail, CTAs and labels, navigational elements, confirmation pages\n\n* Proactively share and collaborate with fellow writers to educate and ensure consistency in voice, tone, and process\n\n* Create product narratives and content frameworks; provide rationale for your recommendations\n\n* Collaborate and build relationships cross-functionally with opportunities to align and amplify efforts with teams and stakeholders\n\n* Maintain and evolve our voice and tone guidelines  \n\n\n\nRequirements\n\n\n* 5+ years UX writing/Content Design/Content Strategy experience at a leading consumer technology company\n\n* A strong portfolio highlighting your process of solving user problems from concept through execution and iteration required\n\n* Extensive experience leading projects and process\n\n* Exceptional listening, writing and presentation skills which are succinct, clear and engaging\n\n* Proven history of championing content strategy as the backbone of interconnected digital experiences\n\n* Ability to think through onboarding and transactional flows, confirmation screens, error messaging and CTA copy while looking for ways to say more with less\n\n* Inclusive and collaborative style, knowing when to involve cross-functional partners\n\n* Commitment to continuous learning, iteration, and user-centered experiences\n\n* Comfortable challenging your own assumptions and the assumptions of others\n\n\n\nWhat we offer\n\nWhether you work in our beautiful office in Palo Alto or remotely, Ladder is highly collaborative and fun. To support you in your role, we offer fantastic perks and benefits that reflect our mission of care and support, including:\n\n\n* Excellent medical, dental, and vision coverage | We offer competitive healthcare and dental plans for you and your family.\n\n* Flexible paid time off | Take the time that you need to rest and recharge, including our week-long winter holiday closure. \n\n* Stock options | We offer competitive stock option packages to participate in the success of building Ladder, including an extended option exercise window of 7 years after two years with Ladder.\n\n* A rewarding 401k match program | We'll match up to 4% of your contributions as you save for your retirement goals.\n\n* Commuter benefits | When you work from the office, you will receive pre-tax benefits for your commute and free parking.\n\n* A stocked, beautiful new office | Located in downtown Palo Alto, our office was specifically designed to accommodate all working styles. We've invested in technology to support our hybrid team, plus we provide office snacks and catered lunches so that team members can work well and have fun together.\n\n* Paid parental leave | We think it's crucial that new parents have time to adjust to their new lives without worrying about work, so we provide all parents inclusive of birthing, adoption, or fostering ten weeks of paid baby bonding.\n\n* Work-from-home flexibility and support | We recognize that everyone's homelife is different and support remote and hybrid work. Upon joining, we provide a one-time $500 remote office stipend for all team members and then a monthly $150 stipend to cover WFH costs such as the internet.\n\n\n\n\nFun company-wide events | Whether we work locally or remotely, we enjoy spending time together. Thatโ€™s why we plan fun virtual and in-person events to let loose and laugh. \n\nThe base pay range targeted for this position is $138,000 - 185,000 per year. Base pay is determined by market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is eligible for equity and benefits as shared above.\n\nLadder is building a diverse team of talented and enthusiastic people. We are an equal opportunity workplace. Ad Hoc Team is hiring a

Remote Senior UX Designer Marketing & Communications team

\nThis is a fully remote position. \n\nWeโ€™re currently looking for a Senior UX Designer with experience in print, web, and visual design for our Communications team.\n\nAd Hoc is a digital services company that helps the federal government better serve people. Our team of experts from across commercial industry and government brings the modern skills necessary to help agencies transform public services into digital services. Our work enables agencies to meet the needs of their users while closing the gap between consumer expectations and government.\nWhat matters most\n\nAd Hoc operates according to our commitment to inclusivity, acceptance, accountability, and humility. We arenโ€™t heroes. We believe in missions larger than our individual selves and leave our egos at the door, learn from our mistakes, and iterate in order to better serve the people in our country. We prioritize building teams that represent the diversity of the people our government serves. We love the challenge of government-size projects. We want to bring skills to federal agencies, help them better meet the needs of their users, and close the gap between consumer expectations and government. \nBuilt for a remote life\n\nAd Hoc is remote-first and remote-always. Weโ€™ve designed our culture, communications, and tools to support a nationwide distributed team since the beginning. Being remote by design allows Ad Hoc to be thoughtful and intentional about creating diverse teams and supporting them with a work environment that fits their lives. With a generous PTO policy and Slack channels for every interest (from birding to space nerds to parenting) our culture embraces the things happening in your life. Maybe you need to adjust your schedule to care for your family or take a bike ride. At Ad Hoc, thatโ€™s embraced. \nWhat youโ€™ll do\n\nAs a Senior UX Designer on our Marketing and Communications team, youโ€™ll create strong visual designs for external and internal Ad Hoc communications. You will be part of a team of designers, writers, and event professionals committed to maintaining and elevating the Ad Hoc brand and communicating our value to customers and partners. Your work will help the Ad Hoc team impact the lives of millions of people that interact with government services.\n\n\nDeliver design work, including but not limited to marketing collateral, websites, customer and internal communications, business development materials, presentation decks, graphics for social media and ad campaigns, and other business visual communications\n\nProvide graphic support to our proposal team working on winning government contracts\n\nUse your design skills to make strong typography, layout, and hierarchy choices\n\nExplore the problem before creating the right solution\n\nMaintain and expand on the Ad Hoc brand throughout visual communications\n\nManage deadlines through teamwork\n\nOwn and execute projects from concept to finished release\n\nProvide design critique, heuristic evaluations, and competitive analysis\n\nProvide and receive mentorship from other designers\n\nContribute to design libraries, systems, and style guides\n\n\n\nWhat we hope you'll bring\n\n\nStrong background in human-centered graphic design and visual communications for print and web\n\n3-5 years minimum experience designing business communications for print and PDF distribution\n\nPortfolio demonstrating an understanding of good visual design, page layout, and typography for print/PDF deliverables and web\n\nIntermediate to expert level skills in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop\n\nAbility to translate plain text content into compelling and visually appealing narratives for print and web\n\nAbility to write HTML and CSS to build static website pages\n\nAbility to create basic spot illustrations and infographics that convey information or add visual interest to increase readability and content consumption\n\nAn understanding of best UX practices for website design\n\nNice to have skills or interest in:\n\n\n\nUnderstanding of accessibility and how to achieve it for websites and PDFs\n\nExperience or interest with animation, motion graphics, or basic video editing/production\n\nJavaScript skills for website design and production\n\nExperience using Git to contribute to websites and digital products\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMore than that, our ideal candidate wants to contribute to work that is bigger than themselves and wants to make a difference collaborating with their team. They care deeply about building better products, better relationships, and better trust in each interaction people have with their government. They believe in intuitive, easy-to-use government services. They collaborate well with engineers, product, stakeholders, and other teams. They mentor and guide more junior designers. \n\nAnd if you donโ€™t check every box on the list? That doesnโ€™t mean you canโ€™t help us in our mission to deliver critical government services. Talk to us!\nSome basic requirements\n\n\nAll work must be conducted within the U.S., excluding U.S. territories. Some federal contracts require U.S. citizenship to be eligible for employment.\n\nYou must be legally authorized to work in the U.S now and in the future without sponsorship.\n\nOur screening involves completing a homework assignment that is then graded blind to remove bias. We do not do tricky, unreliable whiteboarding tests. Learn more about our homework and processes. \n\nYears of Experience:  3-5+ years \n\nDegree Requirement: Bachelorโ€™s Degree in a design discipline is helpful but not required. Acceptable substitution: 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a relevant field and a high school diploma.\n\n\n\n\nTips for applying\n\n\nIf your application seems like a good match, weโ€™ll invite you to complete a quick writing assignment, which we evaluate blindly. This helps us have a greater understanding of how you approach design problems, while also reducing bias from our hiring process. We will not ask you to do any form of whiteboarding or spec work.\n\nInclude a portfolio of 3-5 UX-focused work samples with your application. We want to understand how you think and solve problems. Clearly explain your process and the reasoning behind the decisions made, include visual artifacts, and identify both your role and the impact you had. Your portfolio can be anything from a website to a slide deck. How you build it is up to you.  \n\n\n\n\nAd Hoc is a great place to be. Our benefits package includes: \n\n\nCompany-subsidized health, dental, life and vision insurance\n\nUse what you need vacation policy\n\n401K with employer match\n\nPaid parental leave after one year \n\nContinuing education/annual conference attendance stipend\n\n\n\n\nAd Hoc LLC is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, religion, age, pregnancy, disability, work-related\n\nIn support of theโ€ฏColorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, and others like it across the country, Ad Hoc job descriptions feature the starting range we reasonably expect to pay to candidates who would join our team with little to no need for training on the responsibilities we've outlined above. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility. Remote Marketing Specialist

Marketing Specialist - Semantic Scholar\n\nWho You Are:\n\nWe are looking for a Growth Marketer to drive acquisition and retention efforts to help us grow Semantic Scholar. You will own all aspects of user growth and retention for our over 8 million monthly active users. This position is ideal for a data-driven and hands-on marketer, who is excited by the idea of scaling a product, and growing a customer base through strategic ownership and data-driven optimizations.\n\nSemantic Scholar is a free, A.I.-powered research tool for scientific literature. We have grown from a groundbreaking research project at the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence to a tool millions of scholars use every week. Our mission is to empower scholars with easy access to the most relevant information from the world's scientific literature. Since our launch in November 2015, we have indexed more than 200 million research papers and built a user base of millions of scholars in over 100 countries. Our work has been featured in the New York Times, Wired, Nature, Science, and many other publications. \n\nYou will work within a high energy, fast-paced team that includes prominent A.I. research scientists, world-class engineers, and product management functions. You are data-driven, and can prioritize tests and iterate on campaigns to improve their impact. You are also results-oriented, and are able to use your judgment to make decisions in the absence of data. You enjoy working on a small team where bureaucracy is low but great communication and collaboration is essential. \n\nIf your ambition is to join a mission-driven team working at the cutting edge of product and technology, Semantic Scholar may be the perfect opportunity for you.\n\n*This role will begin as a one-year term assignment, with the possibility of extension.  We are happy to provide full benefits, 401(k) and paid-time off.\n\nWho We Are:\n\nThe Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence is a non-profit research institute in Seattle founded by Paul Allen and headed by Professor Oren Etzioni. Our mission is to contribute to humanity through high-impact AI research and engineering.\n\nIn addition to AI2โ€™s core mission, we also aim to contribute to humanity through how we treat each member of the AI2 Team! Some highlights are:\n\n\nWe are a learning organization โ€“ because everything AI2 does is ground-breaking, we are learning every day. Similarly, through weekly AI2 Academy lectures, a wide variety of world-class AI experts as guest speakers, and our commitment to your personal on-going education, AI2 is place where you will have opportunities to continue learning right alongside us;\n\nWe value diversity - We seek to hire, support, and promote people from all genders, ethnicities, and all levels of experience regardless of age. We particularly encourage applications from women, non-binary individuals, people of color, members of the LGBTQA+ community, and people with disabilities of any kind.\n\nWe value inclusion - We understand the value that people's individual experiences and perspectives can bring to an organization, and we are building a culture in which all voices are heard, respected and considered.\n\nWe emphasize a healthy work/life balance โ€“ we believe our team members are happiest and most productive when their work/life balance is optimized. While we value powerful research results which drive our mission forward, we also value dinner with family, weekend time, and vacation time. We offer generous paid vacation and sick leave as well as family leave;\n\nWe are collaborative and transparent โ€“ we consider ourselves a team, all moving with a common purpose. We are quick to cheer our successes, and even quicker to share and jointly problem solve our failures;\n\nWe are in Seattle โ€“ and our office is on the water! We have mountains, we have lakes, we have four seasons, we bike to work, we have a vibrant theater scene, and we have so much else. We even have kayaks for you to paddle right outside our front door;\n\nWe welcome interest from applicants from outside of the United States;\n\nWe are friendly โ€“ chances are you will like every one of the 200+ (and growing!) people who work here. We do!\n\n\n\n\nYour Next Challenge:\n\n\nManage Semantic Scholar's growth initiatives end-to-end, including on-site marketing, email, SEM, SEO, and social. \n\nDevelop your own roadmap and own execution for a portfolio of growth campaigns to support Semantic Scholar strategy and annual goals.\n\nPlan, execute, and iterate on experiments that increase new user activation, drive product usage, and improve user retention and expansion.\n\nOwn planning, budget, and execution of digital campaigns to find and test new channels and markets\n\nManage all social media platforms, including owning content creation, real-time social media monitoring and responses, coordinate social media responses with customer support.\n\nBuild and manage landing pages and email campaigns. Proactive in taking the initiative to test new ideas and campaigns.\n\nAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, non-hierarchical environment and wear multiple hats.\n\nEntrepreneurially spirited and intellectually curious; strong work ethic and customer-driven mindset\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n\nUnderstanding of marketing tools, such as Webflow, AppCues, Hubspot, Contentful, or Heap is a plus.\n\nFluency with multiple SEM, SEO, analytics, and digital marketing platforms.\n\nComfortable developing marketing strategies using both quantitative and qualitative insights.\n\n\n\n\nAI2 is proud to be an Equal Opportunity employer.
