\nThe Opportunity:โฏโฏ \n\nAs a Senior Platform Engineer, you will own the reliability, efficiency, and speed of our delivery pipeline; and help drive ongoing reliability, scalability, and security of our core cloud-based infrastructure platforms (primarily AWS). Your top priority will be ensuring our product teams can deliver software to production as quickly and safely as possible while building and maintaining a stable platform. Confident presenting plans and designs to wider architectural community and defending recommended approach.โฏ \n\nDrive ongoing performance enhancement across all areas of our cloud platform; networking, observability, CI/CD, access, security, cost.โฏโฏ \n\nMentor and collaborate with engineers to deepen our expertise in the DevOps/SRE domain.โฏโฏ \n\n\n\n\nโฏ \n\nHow your role expectations will progress as a DevOps Engineer in the first 30, 90, and 180 days: \n\n30 days in \n\n\nComplete new hire orientation, gaining the resources you need to be successful. \n\nLearn how ticket marketplaces operate and how youโll contribute to providing great experiences for our customers. \n\nAcclimate to team and company norms, business objectives, and Vivid Seats values. \n\nDevelop basic understanding of applications, tech stack, and development process. \n\nBe comfortable completing basic tasks in various areas of the entire platform domain \n\n\n\n\n \n\n90 days in \n\n\nStart identifying areas of improvement in our approaches, methods, or technologies to mitigate risks and improve efficiency. \n\nBuild, maintain, and leverage internal and external relationships to achieve progress and advance objectives. \n\nMake meaningful contributions to team planning, estimations and software design sessions. \n\nBe a core contributor to ongoing platform projects. \n\nBe able to support our engineering stakeholders with more advanced requests. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n180 days inโฏโฏ \n\n\nDesign and implement process improvements that positively impact the team. \n\nMentor others, playing an active role in elevating the skill sets of those you work with. \n\nGuide the team's work so that it fits into the larger team and engineering group objectives. \n\nProduce and deliver clean, correct code that drives team and company tech goals forward. \n\nImprove efficiency in core systems and applications managed by the team and contribute to engineering group objectives. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat you will bring: \n\n\nExtensive experience administering Kubernetes clusters (preferably AWS EKS). \n\nExtensive experience working with Kubernetes workloads and core Kubernetes resources. \n\nExtensive experience with configuration-as-code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi or Ansible.โฏโฏ \n\nExtensive experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, and/or GitHub Actions. \n\nFamiliarity with Amazon ECS. \n\nDeep understanding of service mesh/Istio implementations.โฏ \n\nDeep understanding of observability tools such as Datadog and ELK \n\nExperience with at least one mainstream programming language such as Python, Java or Go.โฏ \n\nGeneral understanding of cloud networking.โฏ \n\nStrong sense of ownership for own work and the teamโs work. \n\nA passion for automation, optimization, and productivity.โฏโฏ \n\nAbility to lead colleagues and peers to resolution of issues.โฏ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVivid Seats provides competitive compensation; bonus incentives and equity for all employees; FLEX PTO; mental health days; medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401K matching; monthly credits and discounts for attending live events; remote work and snack allowances; and a variety of additional workplace perks. \n\nLocation: Chicago, IL \n\nWe believe in a hybrid working model which provides employees the flexibility to take advantage of in-person and remote collaboration.
