Ascend's solutions provide the analytics to support critical power supply decisions from operating strategies over the next hour, to hedging and budgeting decisions over the next five years, to long-term investment and resource planning decisions over the next thirty years.   \n\nFor more information, visit www.ascendanalytics.com.  \n\n \n\nJob Responsibilities  \n\nSolve complex analytic problems to make mission critical decisions for energy supply by:  \n\n\nTranslating requirements into model formulation  \n\nImplementing forecasting and optimization models for operation and valuation of renewable resources and battery storage  \n\n\n\n\n\nDevelop both prototype models and production software  \n\nSupporting existing commercial software and production systems  \n\nOptimization techniques including: computational stochastic optimization, decision making under uncertainty, statistical learning, algorithms in statistics and finance applications, stochastic search, simulating high penetrations of wind and solar energy, optimizing generation under uncertainty, unit dispatch and transmission modeling, modeling of hydroelectric storage systems, and planning and control of electric battery storage.  \n\n\n\n\n \n\n Required Qualifications: \n\n\nMasters in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, Economics, Power Systems, or related disciplines \n\n1+ year experience in an energy optimization focused role in industry or academics \n\nOptimization methods and commercial solvers (e.g., GAMS, Goroubi, CPLEX, Xpress) \n\nFamiliarity with relational database platforms (Oracle, MS SQL, Postgres)  \n\nAbility to communicate with impact and confidence, both verbally and in writing  \n\nStrong interpersonal skills, teamwork skills, and work ethic  \n\n\n\n\n \n\nPreferred Qualifications: \n\n\nPhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, Economics, Power Systems, or related disciplines.  \n\nInterest in learning about and deploying novel software solutions  \n\nPrior knowledge of, or strong interest in learning about wholesale electricity markets \n\nPython and relevant libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, SciPy)   \n\n\n\n\n \n\nCompensation ($100,000 - $160,000) \n\nNegotiable based on qualifications and experience.
