Remote Accountant

As an Accountant at Verge, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining our accounting systems. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial records, preparing essential financial statements, and supporting the overall financial health of the company. \n\n\n\nYou will...\n* Develop, implement, and maintain one or more accounting systems.\n* Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.\n* Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.\n* Maintain subledgers and schedules such as accruals, fixed assets and prepaid expense schedules. \n* Prepare financial reports and monthly reporting packages, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statement. \n* Maintain receipts and disbursement reports.\n* Interpret financial reports and records for managers, offering insights and recommendations.\n* Ensure all accounting activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.\n* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support various accounting and financial initiatives.\n* Assist the Controller with audit support & external investor requests \n\n\n\nYou have...\n* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\n* Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus.\n* 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the life sciences or biotech industry.\n* Strong understanding of GAAP and other relevant accounting principles.\n* Proficiency in accounting software and Google Applications (Sheets, Docs, Slides).\n* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\n* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.\n* Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.\n* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.\n* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.\n* Experience with cost accounting and tax preparation.\n* Understanding of the biotech or life sciences industry and its unique financial requirements.\n* Deep alignment with our values \n* A passion for making an impact on patients\n\n\n\n\n\nHelp us revolutionize the way drugs are discovered & developed:\nThe startup nature of Verge Genomics provides multiple growth opportunities into other areas of the company.
