You will be responsible for developing comprehensive Technical Product Documentation for varying user audiences. The Product Documentation team is part of Alation’s Self-Service and Adoptability group which is dedicated to helping customers improve their knowledge, skills and effectiveness with Alation.\n\n\nWe are looking for a highly motivated and experienced documentation expert with a desire to empower a curious and rational world and a talent for transforming complex technical concepts into user-friendly and clear instructions\n\n\n\nWhat you'll do:\n* Gain a broad and deep understanding of the Alation product\n* Independently gather information from subject matter experts\n* Create engaging content that accurately and completely meets the needs of a target audience (admins, analysts, business users)\n* Author various types of technical documentation, such as release notes, FAQs, feature documentation, troubleshooting articles, topical guides, and on-demand docs\n* Draft, edit, and publish documentation, working closely with the Engineering, Design, and Product teams to ensure quality\n* Perform peer documentation reviews\n* Maintain the existing information architecture and repositories\n* Collaborate with the team in creating a successful information strategy for the company\n* Contribute to creating effective documentation processes\n* Contribute to discussions on the Customer Community site as an Alation expert\n\n\n\nYou should have:\n* 7 years of industry experience as a technical writer creating documentation for software products in the data industry\n* Excellent written and verbal communication skills\n* A solid understanding of style guides and their application\n* Able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment\n* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work streams and deliver on schedule\n* A collaborative approach to getting things done\n* Creativity and curiosity, motivation to get to the root cause, attention to detail\n\n\n\nNice to have:\n* Experience in RDBMS and SQL, including reading and writing SQL queries\n* Experience with Docs as Code, GitHub, MadCap Flare, or other documentation development tools\n* Confidence using the Linux command line\n* Familiarity with the ETL processes and BI tools\n* Familiarity with the Big Data analytics and cloud platforms\n* Strong analytical skills and critical thinking\n\n\n\n\n$110,000 - $145,000 a yearThe base salary range is specific to the United States.  The salary of the final candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, work location, specialty, and training.  If the final candidate has a different level of experience, the base salary target range may be lower or higher than what is published.\n\n#LI-RB1\n#LI-Remote\n\n\nMore About Alation\nOur founders have come together from different backgrounds: business, engineering, and design.
