Weโ€™re looking for a Mid-Senior or Senior React Developer that would like to work on products ranging from cutting-edge FinTech and Crypto to traditional Food and Beverage industries and everything in between, depending on their own preferences. Even though it's a contracting position, the vast majority of developers that finish a project with us simply move to another one, and many stay with us for several years.ย

If youโ€™re curious why we have such a high contractor retention rate, you should read the About G2i section below. You won't regret it.

Must-haves:

  • Fluent in both spoken and written English - clear communication is required, perfect grammar is not.
  • Willingness to complete a 6-8 hour code challenge - test once and never again
  • 32-40 hours per week of availability
  • Mid-Senior or Senior level (3+ years of professional experience)
  • 1+ year of professional experience with React and/or React Native

Nice-to-haves (but really just optional):ย

  • Full stack experience (Rails or Node.js)
  • Experience with Apollo Client & GraphQL
  • Experience with web deployment tooling and processes

This role is perfect for you if:ย

  • You are comfortable working remote โ€” We are a 100% remote first company and have been since 2016.
  • You value work life balance โ€” We want you to enjoy your life outside of work and be able to prioritize your physical/mental health. Our leadership models this behavior, it's not just lip service.
  • You want to work for the company thatโ€™s leading the charge towards better work environments with the Developer Health movement.

About G2i

G2i stands for Good News to the Internet and we're on a mission be an uplifting force in the tech industry by matching healthy remote developers with healthy engineering teams. We're run by developers for developers focused on React, React Native, and Node.js and we believe that specializing in a few tech stacks allows us to go deeper into the nuanced details of each language and framework we vet for. You can read more about us here!

Backend Software Engineer - Remote or In Office (UT, PA, CA)ย  *Must be located in the US*

Hiring for Senior, Staff, and Sr. Staff levels.ย

Nav is democratizing small business financing. In other words, we give small business owners access and control.ย  Yes, this challenges the norm, but it means working with curious, purpose driven, dedicated, and inquisitively smart people who push themselves, our company and the community to the next level (and every level after that). We are the people behind the tech. And when itโ€™s good, we look for better. We donโ€™t over think the value we bring nor spend time trying to revamp mantras. We also do not come up with some crafty way to tell you who we are and what we offer. We are Nav!ย  Here, youโ€™ll gain a wealth of experience, learn the tricks of the trade, and work with winners. All companies say people are connected to their mission but in our case our mission and our people are one โ€“ it is a way of being not just a cause you are committed to.ย  And since 2013, Nav has holistically and organically developed its own ideology because Nav can only be Nav.

WHAT WE EMPOWER YOU WITH:

  • Build and scale services that integrate with banking data vendors, Salesforce, and other internal services. Our focus is in Go, but we support other services in languages such as Ruby, Elixir, and Python.
  • Optimize Navโ€™s customer experience, from first contact, through sign-up, and applying for loans and credit cards.
  • Build the framework that Navโ€™s solutions (credit reports, alerts, financing marketplace) plug into.
  • Turn business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Help establish best practices within Nav's growing Engineering organization.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • A track record of successfully delivering maintainable backend systems in a Linux environment.
  • Experience programming in Go, Ruby, or Elixir. Active interest in learning new paradigms and languages.
  • Relentless problem solver.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • You uplift those around you.
  • Youโ€™ve got great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Youโ€™ve got amazing relationship-building and relationship-management skills.
  • You are comfortable working on complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • You have a bias for action, a โ€œdriverโ€ that gets stuff done, using analytical thinking.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity, ability to change course quickly based on new insights.

INCLUSION AT NAV:

At Nav, we celebrate what makes our employees unique because the businesses we serve are progressively diverse and distinctly original. Navericks are diverse, side hustlers, immigrants, veterans, queer, and we push generational boundaries. We are college dropouts, PhDs, special needs parents, allies, pet owners and community leaders. Navericks are human.ย  We are committed to upholding a safe, supportive environment where everyone matters. We are committed to making a better future for all of us. We have created a workplace where people of all backgrounds can express their identities authentically. To put it simply we want you to be proud to be you.

OUR COMPENSATION PHILOSOPHY IS SIMPLE BUT POWERFUL:

We believe great, enduring relationships are grounded in trust and transparency. Compensation shouldnโ€™t be a distraction, and employees should understand how pay and career advancement decisions are made.ย  Providing equal pay for equal work is table stakes for being a great place to work. Gender and ethnic inequity should only be something that our children read about in history books.ย  We believe providing Navsters with company ownership, competitive pay, and a range of meaningful benefits is the start of creating a culture where people want to give the best theyโ€™ve got โ€” not because theyโ€™re simply making money, but because theyโ€™ve fallen in love with our vision, mission, values, and team.

OUR IMPACT ON YOU:

Competitive Pay. Company Ownership. Unlimited Vacation.ย  Benefits Day One. 6 Weeks Paid Parental Leave.ย  Work From Anywhere (yes we were distributed before it was cool).ย  Flexible Work Arrangements. Free Telehealth and Telemental Health For All Employees. Employee Networking and Events. Community Network Groups (womenโ€™s, PRIDE, culture).ย  Meaningful Perks and Rewards. Learning and Development Opportunities.ย  Pet Insurance.ย

A NAVERICKโ€™S DNA:ย

  • We look at the future and say โ€œwhy notโ€;ย  we see possibilities where others see problems or routines. We show the way ahead and are committed to achieving ambitious goals.
  • We practice straight talk and listen generously to each other with empathy.ย  We value different opinions and point of views. We ensure that we connect outside as well as inside to learn from others and inspire each other.
  • We hold ourselves accountable for delivering results. We choose to not to be a victim of circumstance.ย  We make decisions &ย  take responsibility so that we can act & support each other, rather than adopting defensive, and โ€œfinger pointingโ€ behaviors.
  • As leaders we motivate & engage our teams to undertake beyond what they originally thought possible, by developing our teams & creating the conditions for people to grow and empower themselves through enabling & coaching.

* Full-time permanent role\n* Work remotely or relocate and be based out of Sydney, Australia\n* Visa and relocation support available (subject to conditions) \n* Different salary ranges for relocating employees\n* You will need to work 9 - 1pm AEST / AEDT, flexible on your other 4 hours per day\n* Simple hiring process: 3 interviews + code exercise\n\nWrite code day-to-day and up skill those around you.\n\nDo you enjoy coaching others and working with colleagues who help each other develop their skills every day? We partner with our clients to deliver projects and new product features every day, whilst helping to develop the skills, knowledge and capability of those around us in the team. You'll have the opportunity to work in Product Development teams in different domains, both greenfield products as well as evolving existing ones.\n\nWhy are we looking for polyglot developers? Well, we know everyone has their favourite language or framework, but we also know that itโ€™s important to use the right tool/language/framework for the job at hand, and that a pragmatic approach might mean using a language that is already in production. Also, polyglot and/or agnostic developers tend to focus on core software engineering principles and practices, rather than what is shiny in a new framework or language. So whilst we usually work with JavaScript it doesnโ€™t mean we arenโ€™t able to transfer our engineering skills and work with other languages when it makes sense.\n\nThrough regular Learning Lunches, Technical Brown Bags, Software Crafters Meetups, Start of Week meetings, Team Offsites and other social and community events, our team learns and collaborates together and is always sharing knowledge and helping each other, both within Pragmateam, clients and the community.\n\nTo be successful in this role you must have an open mind to sometimes work with a language that is not your usual one and most likely consider yourself a polyglot, ie. someone who is happy to learn new languages or further develop their skills if needed for the task at hand. You must also love developing the skills of other software engineers and helping them improve their craft and capability. The ability and passion to coach others and make things a little bit better is part of the job, so having the empathy and soft skills to do it is important.\n\n**Why it's goodโ€ฆ**\n\n* Opportunity to work across a variety of domains, with different problem spaces and technologies.\n* Able to share your knowledge and develop the skills of those around you, whilst writing code and learning every day.\n* Be a member of a cross-functional agile team delivering together end-to-end.\n* Working in a stable product team (ie. we don't like pure project work) provides a lot of job satisfaction as you are an integral part of the product development process.\n* We work in clients employing continuous delivery practices such as CI, automated testing and continuous deployment.\n* We prefer to work for medium or small product companies instead of large enterprises, as it's easier to be set up for success, have a positive impact and influence.\n* We choose our work and often say no, so people like the work that we do around here.\n* Education & Work From Home budget of $4,000 that you manage yourself: decide if you want to go to a conference, spend it all on books or dedicate yourself to an online training course, all while having a professional, productive and comfortable setup for when you're WFH\n* The 'team' in 'Pragmateam' does mean something: we are never by ourselves in clients so that we can support each other and deliver together.\n* We are curious and have a culture of continuous improvement so we are always keen to learn more and improve ourselves and Pragmateam.\n\n\n**To be successful in the role youโ€™ll have the following skills:**\n\n* Extensive commercial experience (usually 6+ years) in developing custom built web applications, ideally having worked with JavaScript and some of the usual (or unusual) Javascript frameworks such as React, Angular, VueJS. On the back-end you might have worked witih node.js, .Net, Go or Kotlin to name a few.\n* Solid experience working in teams that use XP practices (eg. CI, TDD, pairing, small releases).\n* Support and coach others as well as help teams improve and develop their capabilities, through pairing, Coding Dojos, Dev Guilds, Brown Bags, mentoring, influencing, 1-on-1's etc.\n* Experience across the full tech stack with an interest in developing software both backend and front end (a bias to one side is normal and totally fine).\n* Experience with TDD and the benefits of writing tests first before starting on your code.\n* Solid experience refactoring code, ability to describe different refactoring techniques.\n* Experience with Object Oriented programming and able to discuss design patterns.\n* Passion for writing Clean Code, so everyone in the team can understand it.\n* Awareness of distributed architectures and micro-services and interest to learn more.\n\n**Our Recruitment Process**\n\n* Phone interview (30-60 minutes)\n* Test Coverage exercise (2-3 hours)\n* Pairing + Tech Interview (45-90 minutes)\n* Management Interview (60 minutes)\n\n\nInterested? Apply below or you take a look further at Pragmateam here: https://pragma.team/\n\n**About Pragmateam**\n\nWhy not join Pragmateam and be part of a product delivery company with a rich and supportive culture, centred on learning? Through regular Learning Lunches, Technical Brown Bags, Software Crafters Meetups, Start of Week meetings, and other social and community events, our team learns and collaborates together and is always sharing knowledge and helping each other, both within Pragmateam, clients and the community.\n\n**Benefits:**\n\n* Work visits to Australia to work with the team\n* 20 days annual leave, 10 days sick / carers leave\n* Individual Learning & Development budget\n* Work From Home support budget\n* Fortnightly Learning Lunch\n* Fortnightly Technical Brown Bag lunch\n* PragmaThanks recognition program\n* Fun and casual company environment\n* Great work/life balance \n\nPlease mention the word **PAINLESS** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xNDY=). REKKI is a mobile app that makes ordering between restaurants and suppliers easier, more efficient and more accountable.\n\nWho are we?\n\nREKKI (https://rekki.com/) is transforming the ordering experience between restaurants and their food suppliers - making it as efficient & simple as sending a text without sacrificing reliability. We believe independent restaurants are fundamental to society; they provide a space for people to connect and talk to each other. \nAs the restaurant industry resurfaces we are eager to bring it back stronger than ever by optimising the food supply chain, building new restaurant - supplier connections through our marketplace, and saving chefs valuable time. Founded by former restaurant owners & backed by a stellar board from the likes of Benchmark & Atomico, we are poised to deliver on that promise. \n\nEngineering at REKKI\n\nBeing part of the tech team at REKKI means being part of building something that does not currently exist. It is an exciting and rewarding challenge. To be a Software Engineer with us means not just moving tickets from 'in-progress' to 'done', we want people to think, be close to the user, and work as a team to remove the mist from the supplier - restaurant market.\n\nOur engineering teams consist of a Product Owner, Developers, Designers, QA engineers and Data Scientists. \n\nWhat would you be doing:\n\nAs a Front End Developer at REKKI you will work with a team of incredibly capable individuals on a mission to build a product that revolutionises the way in which chefs interact with their suppliers.\nYou will have a direct impact on the roadmap and the execution of the ideas that your team comes up with including the possibility for you to implement the feature end-to-end, from doing the API endpoint to the UI components.\nWe also encourage you to spend some time with the chefs and suppliers (yes, that means you can work in a restaurant for a few days if you like!) in order to build a better understanding of how their world works and therefore improve our product. \n\nWhat we are looking for: \n\n- Have excellent communication skills โ€“ written, verbal and interpersonal.\n- 2+ years of react native experience or 3+ years react web experience\n- TypeScript is a plus\n- Experience with k8s and golang is a plus\n- SQL experience is a plus\n- Passion for user experience\n- Highly responsible, self-motivated, and able to thrive in an energetic, fast-paced, high-growth environment. Youโ€™ll work on large-scale apps that are ever-changing, enabling entrepreneurship for hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs. Our Android engineers use Kotlin and our iOS engineers use Swift. Our teams are increasingly working with React Native so openness to cross-platform mobile development is a plus! \n\n**Front End Development**\n\nOur Front End Engineers collaborate closely with software engineering teams, designers, product managers, and marketers to not only build incredible merchant-facing products and marketing campaigns, but also engineer-facing tools. Youโ€™ll use the latest web standards in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and modern technologies and frameworks like Typescript, React, GraphQL, Apollo and Ruby on Rails, to develop large front-end web applications and websites that scale and perform well on all devices. Youโ€™ll work across disciplines and are excited about building human-centered experiences. Front End Development exists across all of Shopify, from Product to Marketing, working closely with the teams that create performant experiences and communicate Shopifyโ€™s impact on commerce to a global audience. You may also collaborate with our Data and SEO teams, helping us make data informed decisions and driving additional new merchant acquisition.
