Remote Software Engineer App Stores Backend

Summary\n\nThis is an exciting opportunity for an experienced software engineer passionate about open source software, Linux, and Web Services at scale. Come build a rewarding, meaningful career working with the best and brightest people in technology at Canonical, a growing international software company.\n\nCanonical's Store team develops and operates the backend services that power the Snap Store and Charmhub.io marketplaces. Our services are built primarily in Python, within a bit of Golang. If you have a passion for clean APIs, have a bias towards shipping and believe that tests are the key to higher velocity and reliability, you'll fit right in.\n\nWe have some exciting challenges ahead including continuing to scale our production architecture, expand the store backend to handle additional package types, and enhance our on-prem offering for IoT and Enterprise solutions.\nWhat youโ€™ll do\n\n\nCollaborate remotely with a globally distributed team.\n\nWrite clean web service APIs to support both CLI and web frontend clients, using Python (and optionally Golang).\n\nDesign and implement new features and enhancements from spec to production and ongoing operations at scale.\n\nReview code and technical designs produced by other engineers.\n\nDiscuss ideas and collaborate on finding good solutions.\n\nWork remotely with global travel 2 to 4 weeks for internal and external events.\n\n\n\nWho you are\n\n\nYou have demonstrated professional proficiency developing public-facing APIs and web applications using Python.\n\nYou have a broad technology base but favor backend code and infrastructure.\n\nYou know your way around relational and non-relational databases and can effectively design data models that perform well, and tune queries to access them.\n\nYou are comfortable with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.\n\nYou have demonstrated strong academic performance in Computer Science, STEM or similar degree.\n\nYou love technology and working with a diverse set of talented people.\n\nYou are curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable.\n\nYou value soft skills and are passionate, enterprising, thoughtful, and self-motivated.\n\n\n\nAbout Canonical\n\nCanonical is a growing, international software company that works with the open-source community to deliver Ubuntu -- the worldโ€™s #1 cloud operating system. Our mission is to realise the potential of free software in the lives of individuals and organisations. Our services are helping businesses worldwide to reduce costs, improve efficiency and enhance security with Ubuntu.  Canonical is a unique tech company - global, remote-first, open source, with 700 professionals across 50 countries - we want to be the worldโ€™s best, not biggest, global software company. With almost every team remote by default, Canonical sets the pace on the 21st-century digital workplace.\nWhat Canonical offers:\n\n\nWork from home\n\nLearning and development allowances\n\nCompetitive Salary\n\nAnnual compensation review\n\nRecognition rewards\n\nGenerous annual leave\n\nPaid maternity, paternity and sick leave\n\nPriority Pass for travel\n\nExposure to international business and technology\n\n\n\n\nWe are proud to foster a workplace free from discrimination. Diversity of experience, perspectives, and background create a better work environment and better products. Whatever your identity, we will give your application fair consideration.\n\n#LI-remote\n\n#stack \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Design, Python, Travel, Cloud, Engineer and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $110,000/year\n

Volume is hiring a
Remote Senior Back End Engineer

\nHere at Volume, we work with the best partners to make decentralized finance protocols valuable. We solve problems of protocol utility, governance, and growth for the leading DeFi protocols. From our team effort, we are able to drive massive growth of user transactions and the launch of the protocol economy. If a protocol fails to attract user activity, token value falters and innovation will flow away from the network. \n\n\nVolume delivers software tools and user experiences that increase protocol token utility and community engagement, measured by protocol transaction volume growth. You are able to communicate your thoughts clearly in writing and in discussions.\n\nRESPONSIBILITIES\n\n\n* Develop and maintain the blockchain node client (go-ethereum fork) and related protocol smart contracts (Solidity)\n\n* Implement new protocol-level features based on academic papers, technical specifications, and proof of concepts\n\n* Refactor the code base for better maintainability and to meet performance and reliability requirements\n\n* Develop distributed system tests and frameworks to verify the correctness of our protocol and software\n\n* Participate in team and community decision-making about technical design and architecture considerations\n\n* Participate in code reviews and evaluating contributions from the open source community\n\n* Contribute to documenting and educating the community about our protocols and blockchain software\n\n* Address bugs reports or security incidents and engage with users and researchers to understand and resolve them\n\n\n\n\nREQUIREMENTS\n\n\n* At least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field) and 5+ years software development experience\n\n* Proficiency in a systems language like Go, Rust, or C++ with a focus on network and concurrent programming (Go is preferred)\n\n* Experience developing and debugging complex data structures, algorithms, and network I/O in a Linux environment\n\n* Development experience on a blockchain node client (preferably Ethereum-like) and familiarity with smart contract programming\n\n* Knowledge of blockchain fundamentals such as distributed consensus, peer-to-peer messaging, cryptography primitives\n\n\n\n\nBONUS POINTS\n\n\n* Knowledge of Ethereum protocols and technologies (e.g. devp2p, EVM, Web3, Solidity) and go-ethereum internals in particular\n\n* Ideally 2+ years solid experience with Go programming and some open source contributions that you can highlight\n\n* Knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals such as fault tolerance, consensus, voting, leader election, failure detection\n\n* Experience designing or implementing Proof of Stake and BFT-style consensus algorithms (e.g. Tendermint)\n\n\n\n\nDon't worry if you don't meet all the requirements. If you are talented and have what it takes, then we'd still like to hear from you.\n\nOur compensation isย blockchain competitiveย and dependent on your skills & experience. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Ethereum, Design, Node, Golang, Engineer, Linux and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $110,000/year\n

Spruce is hiring a
Remote Software Engineer Rust

At Spruce, we are reimagining trusted interactions by creating the worldโ€™s best software for packaging beliefs digitally. We are a team of programmers working to develop world-class open source products and libraries implementing open global standards in identity. \nThere are no well-worn paths or theoreticals here. Every Spruce technical staffer gets their hands dirty writing code, learning new technologies, and solving problems at the bleeding edge of our space. We hire results-oriented developers who love technology and are committed to intellectual honesty, user privacy, and innovation.ย \nYou will be responsible for developing cross-platform libraries and server software in Rust. Our software is secure by design, professionally audited, and suitable for high stakes applications. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to emerging global technology standards for digital identity. While we don't require you to have Rust experience to apply for this job, you should demonstrate a strong aptitude for statically typed languages, memory management, and secure programming practices. \nResponsibilities\n\n* Contribute to new and existing Rust codebases, with a focus on high code quality (e.g., tasteful use of traits, code/memory footprint reduction, minimizing dependency trees, refactoring between enums/structs, using macros to reduce copy-paste errors, etc.). \n\n* Utilize best practices for unit tests, integration tests, benchmarking, documentation, version control hygiene, and open source release cycle management.\n\n* Implement low-level systems code that is cross-compiled and performantly ran across platforms, including backend servers, mobile devices, and in the browser through WASM.\n\n* With support and review from cryptographers, use cryptographic APIs to implement digital signatures, message authentication, encryption/decryption, data structures, and zero-knowledge proof protocols for production applications. For this role, you are not expected to know the math, but you will be responsible for correct low-level implementations, "blocking and tackling" such as zeroing memory, preventing timing attacks, writing test vectors, and configuring fuzzers.\n\n* Interface directly with security auditing firms who have experience evaluating implementations that rely on applied cryptography.\n\n\nQualifications\n\n* Excellent written communications skills (necessary for remote work).\n\n* Experience writing widely-distributed backend software in statically-typed languages.\n\n* Aptitude for computer security, correct use of cryptography, and user data privacy.\n\n* Proficiency in backend web frameworks, API design, databases, and scalability.\n\n* Experience setting up or configuring CI/CD pipelines based on containers and cloud services.\n\n* Comfortable with rapid directional changes of focus in a startup environment.\n\n\nBonus\n\n* Experience building distributed storage systems at scale.\n\n* Proficiency with functional programming paradigms and use of advanced type systems found in languages such as Rust, C++, OCaml, or Haskell.\n\n* Contributions to open source software projects and technology standards.\n\n* Full-time experience with working remotely.\n\n* Familiarity with operating system internals, compiler internals, memory management, and low level programming.\n\n* Professional experience in a high stakes industry such as cloud infrastructure, finance, healthcare, social media, or online gaming.\n\n\nWe are passionate about cultivating a thriving culture of diverse individuals who bring unique perspectives to our mission. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Cloud, API, Mobile, Engineer and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $55,000 — $110,000/year\n

Obol is hiring a
Remote Senior Frontend Engineer DApp Development

\nWho Are We?\n\n\nObol Labs is a remote-first research and software development team focused on Proof of Stake infrastructure for public blockchain networks. Specific topics of focus are Internet Bonds, Distributed Validator Technology, and Multi-Operator Validation. The core team includes 35 members spread across +14 countries.\n\n\nThe core team is building the Obol Network, a protocol to foster trust-minimized staking through multi-operator validation. This will enable low-trust access to Ethereum staking yield, which can be used as a core building block in various Web3 products.\n\n\nThe Network\n\n\nThe network can be best visualized as a work layer that sits directly on top of the base layer consensus. This work layer is designed to provide the base layer with more resiliency and decentralization as it scales. In this chapter of Ethereum, we will move on to the next great scaling challenge, which is stake centralization. Layers like Obol are critical to the long-term viability and resiliency of public networks, especially networks like Ethereum.\n\n\nObol as a layer is focused on scaling main chain staking by providing permissionless access to Distributed Validators. The network utilizes a middleware implementation of Distributed Validator Technology (DVT), to enable the operation of distributed validator clusters that can preserve validators' current client and remote signing configurations.\n\n\nSimilar to how roll-up technology laid the foundation for L2 scaling implementations, we believe DVT will do the same for scaling the consensus layer while preserving decentralization. Staking infrastructure is entering its protocol phase of evolution, which must include trust-minimized staking networks that can be plugged into at scale. We believe DVT will evolve into a widely used primitive and will ensure the security, resiliency, and decentralization of public networks.\n\n\nThe Obol Network develops and maintains three core public goods that will eventually work together through circular economics:\n\n\nThe DV Launchpad, a User Interface for bootstrapping and managing Distributed Validators\n\n\nCharon, a Golang based middleware client that enables validators to run in a fault-tolerant, distributed manner.\n\n\nObol Splits, a set of solidity contracts for the formation of Distributed Validators tailored to different use cases such as DeFi, Liquid Staking, and Fractionalized Deposits \n\n\n\n\nSustainable Public Goods\n\n\nObol is inspired by previous work on Ethereum public goods and experimenting with circular economics. We believe that to unlock innovation in staking use cases, a credibly neutral layer must exist for innovation to flow and evolve vertically. Without this layer, highly available uptime will continue to be a moat.\n\n\nThe Obol Network will become an open, community-governed, self-sustaining project over the coming months and years. Together we will incentivize, build, and maintain distributed validator technology that makes public networks a more secure and resilient foundation to build on top of.\n\n\nThe Role \n\n\nThe focus of this role is on developing and enhancing React-based web applications for interacting with the Ethereum blockchain to create Distributed Validators. This includes creating user-friendly interfaces, integrating with wallets, and ensuring the applications are absolutely secure and reliable.\n\n\nThe goal of this role is to enable the proliferation of Distributed Validators in the Ethereum Staking Ecosystem, by making them easy to create, view, understand, and interact with. This role requires working with agency and autonomy. It requires collaboration with cross-functional internal teams as well as dealing with external stakeholders. Obolโ€™s Distributed Validator Launchpad, Obolโ€™s static website, Obolโ€™s typescript packages, and other applications will be under this roleโ€™s remit. \n\n\n\nResponsibilities\n* Develop and implement new features for our web applications using React, showcasing your expertise in creating user-centric solutions.\n* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product owners, designers, and QA engineers, to ensure seamless delivery of high-quality products.\n* Contribute to Obolโ€™s coding standards, design patterns, and development methodologies.\n* Drive innovation by researching and adopting the latest trends and technologies in the React ecosystem, ensuring our applications remain secure, competitive, and cutting-edge.\n* Act as a technical mentor for junior developers, providing guidance and support to help them grow and excel in their roles.\n* Collaborate with external partners integrating Obol technology into their dapps using the Obol SDK.\n* Take responsibility for maintaining and enhancing our current products, including our component library (obol-ui) and DApp (dv-launchpad).\n* Improve the accessibility of our interfaces to all types of internet users.\n* Harden the security of our React software and its supply chain.  \n\n\n\nRequirements\n* Professional experience in React-based Ethereum Application Development (examples below).\n* What we use for React Development: Typescript, Next.js, React Hook Form, SWR, Zustand, @headlessui/react, stitches.dev, tailwindCSS and others. \n* What we use for Ethereum Development: Foundry, Hardhat, Ethers.js, web3-react, @obolnetwork/obol-sdk, @metamask/eth-sig-util, @0xsplits/splits-sdk(-react), @gnosis.pm/safe-core-sdk, @synthetixio/synpress, @chainsafe/(bls/discv5/ssz) and others. \n* Previous delivery of react websites that enable non-custodial, wallet-based interaction with mainnet Ethereum or a similar EVM network with more than $100k in value handled. \n* Knowledge of JS/TS security and testing best practices.\n* Knowledge of JS/TS CI/CD best practices.\n* Experience working with Agile Software Development methodologies.\n* Web3 professional experience.\n* Proven ability to maintain and contribute to Open Source repos \n* Timezone between UTC-2 to UTC+3 \n\n\n\nNice to have\n* Ethereum staking experience.\n* Node.js or other backend development experience.\n* Solidity development experience.\n* Familiarity with docker and/or running servers.\n* SQL/NoSQL experience.\n* Experience working in a distributed remote team.\n\n\n\nBenefits\n* Fully Remote Working and flexible hours.\n* Meet the team at our Annual Offsites.\n* Chance to attend crypto and staking conferences.\n* Working with the purpose of decentralising Ethereum.\n* Generous paid time off.\n* Budget for equipment.\n* Budget for training or education.\n\n\n\n\n\nThank you for your interest. Looking forward to building amazing stuff together! \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Design, Web3, Solidity, Crypto, Ethereum, React, Docker, Testing, Typescript, Senior, Golang, Engineer and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $110,000/year\n
