## What We Do\n\nOverleaf is a startup and social enterprise that builds modern collaborative authoring tools for scientists โ like Google Docs for Science. We have over six million registered users from around the world. Our primary product is an online, real-time collaborative editor for papers, theses, technical reports and other documents written in the LaTeX markup language.\n\n## Who We Are\n\nOverleaf was founded by two mathematicians who were inspired by their own experiences in academia to create a better solution for scientific collaboration and communication. Now we are a team of about forty with fifteen developers, based mainly in and around the UK and in the US. We were recently recognised as one of the [UK's top 100 fastest growing businesses](https://www.overleaf.com/blog/overleaf-recognized-as-one-of-the-uks-top-100-fastest-growing-businesses) and as the [Best SaaS for Nonprofits or Education](https://www.overleaf.com/blog/overleaf-named-2020-saas-awards-winner) in the 2020 SaaS Awards Program.\n\n## Our Tech\n\nOverleaf is based on open source software, and most of our product code is itself open source. You can find it on GitHub: https://github.com/overleaf/overleaf (note: most activity is in the repos linked from there).\n\nWe run a mainly Node.js back end using MongoDB, PostgreSQL and Redis. We use a microservices architecture, with about a dozen services. On the front end, we mainly use Angular v1 and are incrementally migrating to React.\n\nWe're hosted on Google Cloud Platform using Google Kubernetes Engine. We use Docker to manage our development environments. We support continuous delivery and typically deploy at least a few times a day (less on Fridays).\n\n## How We Work\n\nOverleaf is remote-first --- all founders and staff work remotely. We also have an office in Farringdon for those in the London area, and when the pandemic settles down we'll again get the whole team together in London a few times a year for face-to-face time.\n\nWe encourage flexible working. Our core hours are 2pmโ5pm UK time, during which our development teams have 10โ15 minute daily standup calls. We have few standing meetings for developers, but we do many smaller video or voice calls for pairing or within teams.\n\nWe always collect user feedback to inform our work. We have UX professionals on our team, and we run many surveys and user interviews.\n\nWe organize our work with Kanban. We use GitHub pull requests for each feature with code review to share knowledge and best practices (and catch bugs). We test thoroughly with automated unit and acceptance tests, supported by continuous integration (CI). We're also fans of linting to minimise bike-shedding (and to catch bugs).\n\n## About This Role\n\nWe plan to add two developers to our team, both with a backend focus. Experience with some of Node.js, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis or Kubernetes is desirable. We are also particularly interested in meeting you if:\n\n- you'd be interested in taking up a team lead role in the not too distant future, or\n- you have experience with setting up data pipelines for web analytics and/or business intelligence.\n\nKey projects on our road map this year include:\n\n- Improve our B2C conversion metrics and monitoring โ we'll be setting up a new web analytics system to generate insights we need while continuing to respect user privacy\n- Consolidate our two project history systems โ we currently have two from our integration with ShareLaTeX in 2017, each with hundreds of TB to be consolidated\n- Make our project PDF preview faster and less bandwidth hungry โ we have prototypes showing big wins that now need productionizing\n\nHere are some examples of projects (large and small) we've recently completed:\n\n- https://www.overleaf.com/blog/new-feature-file-outline-is-now-available-on-overleaf\n- https://www.overleaf.com/blog/new-feature-transfer-project-ownership-on-overleaf\n- https://www.overleaf.com/blog/523-a-data-driven-approach-to-latex-autocomplete\n\nIn the longer term, we are planning projects around improved collaboration features for teams, improvements to our rich text mode, and more.\n\n## How We Hire\n\nThe stages in our hiring process are typically:\n\n1. We will aim to update you on the status of your application within 14 days from when we receive it.\n\n2. We'll follow up by email (or sometimes schedule a phone call) with any questions we have about your application, usually around logistics, your ambitions and your expectations about the role.\n\n3. We'll schedule a more in-depth interview, which is typically two hours long. The first hour is discussion, and the second hour is technical. For the technical, you'll have the option of either completing a homework assignment, which requires about one hour of your time before the interview, or solving a problem in the interview, if you prefer. The problems are practical in nature (no fizz-buzz or reversing linked lists), and you can use Google, man pages, etc., and ask us questions.\n\n4. We'll make an offer. We usually interview in batches, so there may be a short delay while we interview other candidates, but we will try to keep you informed throughout the process.\n\nIf you have a deadline, please let us know in your application, and we will try to be accommodating.\n\n## Requirements\n\nWe require that you:\n\n- have a minimum of 2โ3 years of relevant experience (we aren't taking on more new graduates at the moment).\n- will work for us full time (or nearly full time).\n- will usually be available in our core hours, 2pmโ5pm UK time.\n\nApplicants in the UK, Europe, US and Canada are preferred.\n\nExperience with the technologies we use is always a plus, but you don't need to know them all; your ability to learn is much more important to us.\n\n## Benefits\n\n- Remote and flexible working.\n- Salary ยฃ40kโยฃ75k per year depending on experience.\n- You would join a small, dedicated and growing team.\n- We're substantially (around 80%) open source, so your work will often be on open source code.\n- We're backed by Bethnal Green Ventures (https://bethnalgreenventures.com/) and Digital Science (https://www.digital-science.com/), through which we're part of a wider community of startups in science, health and ed-tech.\n- Our London office is shared with several other Digital Science companies, so there's lots of interesting people to meet, and clubs and sports activities outside of work.\n- We get everyone together in London for team meetings several times a year for valuable face-to-face time (pandemic permitting).\n- You can pick your own equipment. MacBook Pro? Lenovo ThinkPad? Notebook and pen? However you like to work, we'll provide what you need.\n- We provide a training budget; many of our developers choose to attend relevant industry conferences or buy training materials.\n- We run quarterly [remote hackathons](https://www.overleaf.com/blog/overleafs-remote-hackathon-revisited-one-year) to keep learning and experimenting.\n- We run a weekly internal seminar series with short talks from staff about their work or personal projects, new technologies and techniques.\n\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. \n\nPlease mention the words **CENTURY DECADE ORDINARY** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xNDY=). \nOverview\n\nPrimotus is developing a "no code" enterprise-scale workflow platform that allows users to design an entire system - including drag-and-drop database, forms, entitlements, processes, mobile applications, business decisions, messages, reports, and even maps - with little to no software development. The platform is flexible enough to be deployed to a myriad of business verticals.\n\nVersion 2 of platform is being developed with most code being shared between mobile and web using Angular 9 and Ionic 4 in an off-line first PWA (Progressive Web App) architecture using real-time processing technologies. We’re looking for an experienced Angular fullstack developer having strong architectural, UI, and SQL skills associated with data-driven business applications.\n\nIf you think you’re a good fit and are interested in building something highly configurable and really innovative, please shoot us an email. \n\nYou’d be working on some of the following initiatives: \n\n\n* Developing PWA using Ionic 4 and Angular 9\n\n* Building real-time data visualization on top of data analytics module\n\n* Migrating BPM from Activiti to Camunda and adding Case Management \n\n* Updating remaining site builder modules to Angular 9\n\n* Extending microservices using node.js\n\n* Extending DMN (Business Rules/Decision Management) system\n\n* Creating Enterprise chat application\n\n* Developing/ingesting JSON RestfulAPIs\n\n* Working with team making key architecture and stack decisions\n\n\n\n\nYou're Expected To Have:\n\n- 5+ years of modern JavaScript and TypeScript\n\n- 2+ years of AngularJS and Angular 2+ production development \n\n- 2+ years node.js \n\n- Advanced SQL knowledge and experience with SQL databases such as Postgres and/or document-based databases such as ElasticSearch\n\n- Advanced data handlers such as WebSockets \n\n- UI/UX and architecture skills\n\n- JSON, REST and Web Services\n\n- Passionate about software architecture, development, continuous improvement\n\n- Willingness to share knowledge and mentor team members\n\n\n\nNice To Have Some of the Following:\n\n- Experience in one of more mobile/PWA frameworks \n\n- Workflow applications, particularly BPM (Activiti, Camunda, JBPM, etc). \n\n- Web BI visualization tools \n\n- State Management such as Redux or NGRX\n\n- Experience with Scala (functional programming), Kafka, ElasticSearch\n\n- Exposure to Protractor, Karma, Jasmine or other testing tools\n\n\n\nOur Stack : Includes many of the most-desired technologies, including:\n\nFrontend:\n\n\n* Angular 9\n\n* Node.js\n\n* NGRX\n\n* Ionic Mobile\n\n* CSS3, Bootstrap\n\n* Protractor, Selenium (Unit, end-to-end, performance testing tools)\n\n\n\n\nBackend:\n\n\n* BPMN (Java), DMN Decision Management (Java)\n\n* Scala, Play Framework, Slick\n\n* Web Sockets\n\n* Kafka (event-based processing)\n\n* Postgres, ElasticSearch\n\n* Restful API\n\n\n\n\nDevOps:\n\n\n* Docker\n\n* Terraform, Grafana\n\n* Prometheus\n\n* Jenkins, Nginx\n\n* GIT, GitHub\n\n* AWS (S3, ECS, RDS)\n\n\n\n\nOur development team:\n\n\n* Is small and growing with 8 members, so you'll have a significant impact.\n\n* Separates code into distinct modules and services\n\n* Uses JSON API for backend/frontend integration\n\n* Applies Agile programming and paired development methodology \n\n* Works in a virtual environment along with paired development\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

By bringing an open-minded approach to an often closed-minded industry, we're able to embrace every unique financial situation differently in order to craft the best possible loans for our borrowers. We pride ourselves on providing excellent service backed by our groundbreaking technology, and these two components of our process come together to complete a simple, personalized mortgage experience. But it all starts with our people.\n\nWe believe that no matter where you fit in our organization—Sales, Human Resources, Information Technology, or even re-stocking the break rooms with endless coffee supplies—everyone can influence the experience that we provide to our customers and our partners. We tell our customers and our partners that anything can be reimagined. So why not your career? Looking to join a company that values its people, innovates and expands on its proprietary technology, and is growing at a ridiculous rate?! Apply below!\n\nWho We Need:\n\nCardinal Financial understands that great people are the key to great companies. We are looking for intelligent, hard-working, passionate individuals that want to be part of something very different. We need people that dream big and possess a work ethic that will inspire those around them. We are seeking forward thinking people, who produce results rather than wait for them. You will not be micromanaged; but you will need to meet specific expectations and it will be entirely up to you to make sure that this happens. You will be backed by one of the strongest, most supportive and technical mortgage banking leadership teams in the industry and we are all committed to the success of the enterprise.\n\nWe are currently looking for energetic, hardworking, and knowledgeable Full Stack Software Engineers located on the East Coast and West Coast.\n\nWhat You Will Do:\n\n\n* You’ll be involved in every aspect of building and supporting our SaaS enterprise mortgage lending platform.\n\n* We’re an agile shop and you’ll be part of choosing what stories you’ll work on as they come up in the backlog.\n\n* You’ll do full-stack development because we’ve found it benefits the team and product when an engineer is familiar with the entire stack and has a genuine interest in all our software technology. We also recognize that each engineer is passionate and skilled in specific layers. We manage to blend the two realities very well.\n\n* You’ll manage your stories completely including working with end users to determine what is required, designing the UI, classes, business logic and data. We describe our approaches informally to get rapid review and critique by others.\n\n* You’ll write clean, concise code, and robust unit tests for all your work. Finished code will be reviewed by others in the team. We mix up the review teams so everyone has good exposure to the whole system.\n\n* You’ll find ways to improve our product and how we work. We leverage tools and innovation to make more happen with less. When we identify an improvement, we implement it fast.\n\n* You’ll help with production support and help users when needed.\n\n\n\n\nWhat You Are Like:\n\nIf you think you’d like to work with us, here are some things that should apply to you:\n\n\n* You’re comfortable working in a small team. Each of us has a huge impact and we depend on each other to get things done.\n\n* You love a fast environment with a lot of churn.\n\n* You’re passionate about good object-oriented design, great UX, security, performance optimization and testing.\n\n* You pride yourself on understanding projects top to bottom.\n\n* You enjoy working alone or working with others. You’re comfortable doing things even when you’re not told exactly what to do.\n\n* You take pleasure in creation, chaos, spontaneity, change, debate and silence.\n\n* You like helping others become better and more successful. You know how to make life easier for others on your team.\n\n* You’re OK chipping in on things that have nothing to do with your current project, or helping with off-hour production emergencies and deployments.\n\n\n\n\nWhat You Need:\n\n\n* You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and at least two years software development experience on a large-scale web application. Mortgage knowledge and experience is a plus.\n\n* You can analyze a feature story and design a robust and complete solution for it. The server is written using a combination of Java 8 on Jetty, and Node.js for asynchronous tasks. We persist our data in MySQL using MyBatis and use Redis for caching, metrics, and non-critical message queueing.\n\nThe UI uses a custom, JavaScript MVC framework with many modern techniques: dynamic code loading modules, client-side routing and templates, powerful data-binding features, integrated services, and advanced component architecture.\n\nWe develop on Macs and deploy on AWS. Our tools include: github, Jenkins, gradle, grunt, JAXB, iText, Aspose, IntelliJ IDEA, Pivotal Tracker. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
