N2 Publishing is seeking a skilled web developer with an awesome personality to join our technology team. The successful candidate is welcome to work remotely from home or relocate to our headquarters city to work in the office. Please note, the remote teammate should be prepared to travel to our home office location about 3-4 times a year. But, we’re situated in the beautiful coastal town of Wilmington, NC, so neither relocating nor traveling to our home office location is a bad gig!\n\n\nBut enough about the logistics. Here's what you’ll do:\n• Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices\n• Create site layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices\n• Integrate data from various back-end services and databases\n• Provide input, options, and recommendations on software features and system enhancements\n• Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs\n• Provide recommendations into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities\n\n\nSound like you? Here's what you'll need:\n• 4-year degree in a computer science-related discipline or relevant degree\n• Expert knowledge of Ruby on Rails, as well as in-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS and Javascript\n• In-depth understanding of how web applications work including security, session management and best development practices\n• Full working knowledge of MVC application architecture\n• In-depth knowledge of relational database systems, Object Oriented Programming and web application development\n• Experience using Agile Methodologies and Test Driven Development\n• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly, and master diverse web technologies and techniques\n• Team player attitude with a desire to be part of an organization that is making a difference in people’s lives\n• Proven experience leading a technical development team is not required, but is a plus\nWe provide a drama-free culture built on trust, respect, and humility.
