Series Eight is seeking a full-time Senior Front-end Developer to join our remote team of brand and web designers, illustrators, animators, front-end developers, project managers and founders.

Weโ€™re a close-knit, talented team of 20, working together to create brands, websites and e-commerce stores. Working mostly to a UK timezone, weโ€™re looking for someone residing either in the UK or Europe.

Does this sound like you?

  • You have at least five years experience in front-end development.
  • You have a portfolio of work that demonstrates your abilities.
  • You have skills in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and Git, and experience with modern JS frameworks like React/Vue or Alpine. Knowing some PHP and Tailwind CSS would be nice to have too.
  • You work well independently, but also collaboratively.
  • Ability to problem solve, creatively and technically.
  • You have an eye for detail and love bringing sites to life with animation.
  • Youโ€™re a good communicator with a friendly attitude.

What youโ€™ll do:

  • Build responsive web projects from Figma on CraftCMS, Shopify, Sanity and Contentful
  • Youโ€™ll develop sites with accessibility in mind, and test for cross browser compatibility
  • Discussing a designerโ€™s creative concepts and assessing how to make things a reality
  • Document development processes

Our Values

We share a passion for what we do.

What we consider as โ€˜workโ€™ and โ€˜playโ€™ arenโ€™t always clearly defined. Our curiosity and creativity connects us and drives us. And, as far as weโ€™re concerned, staying in your comfort zone is always a no-go.

We love to learn.

We love to learn, especially from each other. Weโ€™re constantly honing our design, development, and copywriting skills, and mastering new platforms and features. Because the best learners are the lifelong ones.

We leave egos in the background.

We share honest feedback and challenge ideas, but we also focus on the common ground. Weโ€™ll challenge things for the sake of better work, but never just because. No oneโ€™s got time for that.

We build each other up.

We spend our days building sites and building up each other. A new project means a new opportunity to connect, collaborate, and celebrate our clients and teammates. In it together, and in it for the long run.

Diversity

Weโ€™re serious about embracing diversity and equality, and believe that the more inclusive our team is, the better our work will be.

Whoever you are, wherever youโ€™re based, and whatever else makes you, you - weโ€™re here for it. If there are things we can do to support you during the interview process, then we want to know. And the same goes for the pronouns you use.

We believe in being ourselves, and we want you to be yourself, too.

Overview

We are Basket (www.trybasket.com) โ€“ a fresh and exciting new approach to save, share and follow the things you love, and the people who love them too. Basket keeps you organised, up to date, and helps you buy better across all shopping categories.

To continue our growth weโ€™re seeking a Senior Backend Engineer located in London or Auckland. With your strong production experience of Python and ETL processes, youโ€™ll play a key role in our data extraction, transformation pipelines, data storage (MongoDB), and data delivery via AWS API Gateway (Rest APIs) and AWS AppSync (GraphQL). Youโ€™ll need a deep understanding and experience with serverless AWS (Lamba with EventBridge), and knowledge of the serverless framework (https://www.serverless.com/) would be a significant benefit.

To excel in this role, youโ€™ll learn quickly, think big, and deliver rock-solid results in a fast-paced startup environment. You implicitly know how to balance safe decisions while proactively researching and running code experiments. Youโ€™re someone who embraces collaboration and feedback with open arms. You continuously look for ways to grow yourself, help teammates, and opportunities to make the products you work on stronger. This is a chance to join an innovative team where you will be challenged, and have significant input to shape a product we believe will become a global household name. This is an exciting opportunity to join our backend team at a pivotal time in our journey.

This role is development focused, with a small amount of coaching required for junior team members.

How We Work at Basket

At Basket, we work in 2 week development cycles with a clearly defined goal. Weโ€™re inspired by companies like Linear where quality work is more important than quantity of features released. We plan each cycle well ahead of time with team discussions, research and workshops to make sure weโ€™re making informed decisions.

Hereโ€™s how our typical cycle looks;

  • 2 weeks before a cycle we plan and define requirements for features

  • 1 week before a cycle we do technical due diligence and write acceptance criteria

  • During a cycle we write code using test-driven development, test code to development and staging environments, collaborate with QA, Design and PM team members to ensure features are production ready.

What You'll Do

  • Write, improve and maintain serverless functions to accurately transform and load data into efficient and organised MongoDB storage

  • Develop and maintain 3rd party data clients to enrich stored data

  • Create and update API endpoints for a frontend client using AWS API Gateway (Rest APIs) and AWS AppSync (GraphQL)

  • Analyse and tune application performance with a focus on efficiency using analytics tools such as Lumigo, Sentry, Segment and DataDog

  • Research and architect solutions using serverless architecture patterns

  • Implement and improve analytics and application monitoring performance

  • Approach your work using test driven development (TDD) to ensure the integrity of your code and our services

About You

  • Native English (this is essential)

  • Located in London, UK or Auckland, NZ

  • 5+ years full-time work experience as a backend engineer on production services

  • Advanced knowledge of Python ^3.10 and/or NodeJS ^15.0.0

  • Deep knowledge of webpage parsing, including XPath and Regex

  • Excellent experience with MongoDB and DynamoDB

  • Production experience with AWS services in a serverless microservices context, such as Lambda, AppSync, API Gateway, S3, SNS, SQS, Cognito, EventBridge

  • Lots of energy and enthusiasm about being part of a small, progressive team

Good To Have

  • University degree in computer science, or equivalent experience

  • Experience working in a VC-backed startup environment

Our Culture

Our culture is built on respect, collaboration and a drive to shake up the world of shopping. Weโ€™re at the beginning of our journey with the opportunity for new team members to lead projects, and shape services that customers interact with daily. Our team members are conscientious, deep thinkers, always striving to be awesome human beings.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value a diversity of perspectives and backgrounds at our company. We are dedicated to a policy of nondiscrimination in employment on any basis including race, colour, age, sex, religion, disability, or national origin.

Do you have a soft spot for profitable companies with a meaningful, globally used and loved product? Would you like to work within a compact, super-capable team in a refreshing work environment? Would you like to work on an application that is changing the way we learn and communicate? Drops could be the place for you.\n\nAbout us:\n\nOur goal at Drops is to ensure effective language learning through a delightful, seamless, gamified experience. We strive to be the #1 app for vocabulary learning. Our app has been live on the App Store for 4 years, covering 42 languages, serving over 27 million users across the globe and has been featured on both the App Store (App of the Day) and Play Store (App of the Year in 2018). Drops has also been featured by TechCrunch, FastCo, Forbes, CNN, Bloomberg, VentureBeat and many, many more. In short, weโ€™re a tiny but very powerful team spread (mostly) across Europe, achieving great things the remote way! In December 2020, Drops was acquired by Kahoot!, the worldโ€™s leading game-based learning platform\n\nCheck us out here: https://languagedrops.com\n\n\nAbout you:\n\nYouโ€™re a no-nonsense person, comfortable taking on a variety of projects who has been working within product companies and has extensive front-end development experience.\n\nYouโ€™ve spent years working with React and have experience in React Native with a deep understanding of the internal workings be it working within the browser or a mobile client. You enjoy the challenge of growing a product from an (already) large user base to a larger one with tens of millions of MAU with all the complexities it comes with.\n\nYou are an advocate for static typing and prefer to use a minimal set of simple tools over a diverse range of complex ones.\n\nYou believe variety is the spice of life - In this role, youโ€™ll be developing a complex app deployable to web and app stores, a static site generator, building internal automation infrastructure/tooling and contributing to our internal CMS. You could also be working on our fully serverless architecture on the backend if you feel comfortable doing so.\n\nDrops is a deliberately small, but super effective team. Youโ€™re naturally drawn to the fate of the products & driven to grow as an engineer rather than to manage people.\n\n\nThe role:\nYouโ€™ll be a core part of the development team, working on both our main (Drops) and auxiliary products (Droplets, Visual Dictionary, Internal CMS tooling). Drops values clear, honest communication and transparency. Itโ€™s the linchpin of our culture, success and freedom. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!

When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site. Remote OK accepts no liability or responsibility as a consequence of any reliance upon information on there (external sites) or here.

You could also be working on our fully serverless architecture on the backend if you feel comfortable doing so.\n\nDrops is a deliberately small, but super effective team. Youโ€™re naturally drawn to the fate of the products & driven to grow as an engineer rather than to manage people.\n\nThe role:\n\nYouโ€™ll be a core part of the development team, working on both our main (Drops) and auxiliary products (Droplets, Visual Dictionary, Internal CMS tooling). Drops values clear, honest communication and transparency. Itโ€™s the linchpin of our culture, success and freedom. Youโ€™ll be involved in both high and low level decision making and are available during European working hours (10AM - 6PM CET). Weโ€™re sharing 98%+ of the code between Android, iOS and Web\nWe automate where it has positive ROI\nOur biggest challenge is (and will remain) managing the complexity of sharing a lot of code between different apps\n\n\nRequirements\n\nYou have:\n\nAt least 5 years of experience in software (product) development\nAt least 2 years of experience in building apps with React or React Native with state management tools (redux, flux, etc)\nExperience architecting and developing complex web or mobile apps and static sites\nSome experience in understanding basic user funnels, and collaborating with support to resolve user-facing issues\nProject management experience (everyone manages projects at Drops)\nStrong verbal and written communication skills\nThe ability to work well cross-functionally\nExperienced in strongly typed languages\nBenefits\n\n\n\n๐ŸŒ All the perks of remote working\n๐Ÿ‘ฅ An awesomely compact 20 person team\n๐Ÿง  Yearly educational allowance\n๐Ÿ’ช Fitness allowance\n๐Ÿ’ป High-end Apple hardware and ergonomic accessories\n๐Ÿ– 36 days of holiday per year\nโœˆ๏ธ Quarterly team gathering somewhere in the world (Amsterdam, Iceland, Lisbon and Budapest were previous locations) \n\nPlease mention the words **MANDATE MAN HAT** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xMjU=). We're a "startup within an agency" - productizing our expertise from 10+ years building custom HubSpot integrations for growing businesses. We use cloud-based technology to launch scalable integration apps to thousands of HubSpot users worldwide. \n\nWe're building our app framework on the HubSpot CMS with nodejs serverless functions, reactjs, mongodb, and other rest apis. You will be our first frontend engineer and primarily responsible for the success and growth of our frontend app.\n\nThe ideal SyncSmart frontend engineer is:\n\n\n* Experienced in responsive design, reactjs, html, css, and javascript.\n\n* An independent, creative problem-solver and self-starter who learns new systems and technologies quickly. \n\n* Familiar with agile/scrum. We work in 2-week sprints and we strive for 100% burndown every sprint.\n\n* A strong communicator who self-documents their work, willing to help out a team member, can explain complex technical concepts to business users, and doesn't mind creating the occasional demo video\n\n* A team player: our web apps are tightly integrated with our backend integration technology, requiring constant communication with our integration app engineering team.\n\n* Growth-driven: passionate about helping customers grow their business and aligned with the growth goals of our team\n\n* A constant learner, always pushing themselves to stay on the forefront of tech trends and best practices\n\n\n\n\nOur tools and technologies include: javascript, lodash, moment.js, request.js, nodejs, mongodb, rest apis, json, jsonpath, odata, postman/insomnia, swagger, Google Cloud Platform, Heroku, Amazon AWS, and Azure. Javascript and API experience is a must; all others are a nice-to-have and plenty of training will be available.\n\nCore values\n\nWe hire and fire based on our core values. We expect you will too. You will understand:\n\n\n* Dive right in: we’re in a fast-paced, competitive industry. We value people who can immerse themselves without being afraid of new technology or process. \n\n* Solve the unsolvable: we tackle some of the toughest challenges for our clients, and build some of the industry’s most innovative solutions. We must know when to exercise this talent, and apply our problem-solving abilities to the best opportunities.\n\n* We before me: we don’t let our ego get in the way of our company’s success.\n\n* Teach as we learn: we’re in a constant state of learning at Lynton. It’s important that we all reap the rewards of our growth journey.\n\n* Question to understand: asking the right questions, and listening to others - our customers, our team, and our community - is critically important in guiding our decision-making and company strategy. \n\n* Growth driven: we know that our organization and everyone within it has the potential to develop, grow, and learn. We commit to each other, take risks, accept our failures, and encourage determination, so we can continually push the boundaries and move forward.\n\n\n\n\nWhy our team loves working at Lynton:\n\n\n* Competitive compensation, benefits, and bonus program\n\n* We’re always learning\n\n* Paid training (online courses, instructor-led, and conferences)\n\n* Remote/virtual workplace\n\n* Annual company retreat\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Engineer, Front End, Executive, JavaScript, Amazon, Serverless, Cloud, API, Senior and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n

\n(Remote, Full-Time, Anywhere in the World)\n\nWe are looking for a skilled and passionate Front End Software Engineer to join our Tech Team to build and scale effective software solutions. We are in need of an enthusiastic self-starter with deep expertise in dynamic and complex front end solutions in web and mobile applications.\n\nWhat We Do\n\nWe work with niche companies in the US, Canada, the UK to restructure and automate their operation so that their businesses can grow 5-10x. We do that by effectively analyzing their business, streamlining their processes, and designing an effective automation solution that we then implement on our robust IT stack.\n\nWe make extensive use of technologies that help us accomplish results with less work — making everyone inside of our global organization more effective. \n\nWe heavily leverage: \n\n\n* \n\nAmazon AWS's serverless technologies and microservices for our front-end, back-end, and mobile apps (Lambda, Amplify, Cognito, S3, etc.).\n\n\n* \n\nZoho's CRM and ERP Tools (Desk, Books, etc.).\n\n\n* \n\nVonage/Nexmo-based telephony and communications solutions (Vonage Business Phone, Nexmo Voice/SMS, OpenTalk, etc.).\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are always looking for new technologies and welcome team members adding things to our technology stack so we can deliver more results more effectively. \n\nWhat You Will Do\n\nAs an Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering the solution as per requirements put together by our Creative and Business Analysis Teams. Depending on your level, you will be responsible for either the entire project (with other engineers working in your project team) or for a part of it.\n\nYour ultimate deliverable will be to effectively build a solution that will be implemented in the client's business and run successfully going forward.\n In doing so, you will:\n\n\n* Design and architect complex front end web and mobile solutions that interact with our complex back ends, CRM/ERP, telephony and other systems.\n\n\n\n* Deliver and implement your solutions.\n\n\n\n* Optimize your solutions for usability and performance.\n\n\n\n* Work with other back end and front end developers on the team to deliver the overall solution.\n\n\n\n* Do anything else you deem necessary to accomplish your result.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRequirements\n You are:\n\n\n* \n\nResponsible and driven by results.\n\n\n* \n\nGenuinely interested in technology.\n\n\n* \n\nWilling to learn, grow, and admit mistakes.\n\n\n* \n\nAble to communicate with other people on the project's team effectively.\n\n\n\n\n\nYou have:\n\n\n* \n\nA solid knowledge of React (web and native) based front end development technologies;\n\n\n* \n\nExperience in building successfully implemented highly performing web app and mobile app front ends;\n\n\n* \n\nExperience with Typescript;\n\n\n* Experience with popular UI Component Libraries, such as Material UI;\n\n* \n\nUnderstanding of SDLC and Software Architecture.\n\n\n\n\n\nWill be a good plus:\n\n\n* \n\nExperience with front end solutions that work together/embedded with CRM/ERP systems and live streaming technology;\n\n\n* \n\nExperience with tools like Amplify, Firebase, and other Front End oriented Cloud Technologies;\n\n\n* \n\nUnderstanding of basic UX/UI design principles.\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat We Offer\n\n\n* \n\nResults-Focused Approach to Work\n\n\n\n\n\nWe do not look at people's activities, the number of lines of code written, etc., as the measure of success. We look strictly at the results in effectively delivered products. \n\n\n\n\n* \n\nResults Based Compensation Schedule\n\n\n\n\n\nThere is base pay and project bonus pay. Base pay varies significantly by the Engineer's level of ability and responsibility (Lead/Associate/Assistant) that the Engineer takes on projects - this level is reassessed after every project that the Engineer completes. Projects upon completion are rewarded with a bonus - bonus depends on the delivery of all requirements assigned to the Engineer, timeliness of delivery, rate of errors, and the amount of management attention needed in the project. Engineers who can deliver functional solutions that match requirements quickly and with little management action to correct errors get the best rewards and promotions in the organization.\n\n\n\n\n* \n\nFreely Arranged Schedule\n\n\n\n\n\nYou decide when you want to work. What we expect from you are results. There is a daily stand-up call — but outside of it, you can manage your schedule as you prefer.\n\n\n\n\n* \n\nWork as an Engineer, Not Just a Coder\n\n\n\n\n\nOur Engineers work to build solutions and not just to write code. You will have freedom in how you want to architect the solutions you are making and we will heavily encourage initiative on your part.\n\n\n\n\n* \n\nGrowth Within Our Organization\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are a dynamic and growing organization with a team spread around multiple continents. If you prove yourself as a responsible, driven and motivated individual, there will be opportunities for you to lead projects and manage tech teams.\n\nOur candidate selection process is designed to assess people strictly by their merit. We do not make you go through a long round of interviews, instead, we follow a straight-forward sequence:\n\n\n\n1. Job Application Form.\n\n2. Online Skills Assessment.\n\n3. Interview.\n\n4. Paid Practical Assignment.\n\n5.
