This includes data management applications for project submission and review, monitoring and evaluation of humanitarian response, and financial tracking, amongst others. These applications are developed on a Javascript stack using PostgreSQL, Node.js, TypeScript, AngularJS and Angular, React, and provide data to a public API and two Drupal websites: Financial Tracking Service (fts.unocha.org) and Humanitarian InSight (hum-insight.info). \n\nThe successful candidate will be working as a developer in a small team of both senior and junior backend and frontend developers, and will work either as a full stack developer or (depending on skillsets) with a particular emphasis on frontend or backend work. In addition to programming, the successful candidate may also be involved in the coordination and oversight of the development team or members thereof, as well as contribute to sprint and release planning. While the position is home-based, occasional travel to Geneva, Switzerland might be required. \nBackground Information- Job Specific\n\n\nBackground The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is seeking talented and creative individuals to contribute to the development and maintenance of its online applications (HPC.tools). Within OCHA, the Assessment, Planning and Monitoring Branch (APMB) is responsible for helping OCHA’s network of country offices and humanitarian partners to implement the humanitarian programme cycle (HPC). APMB, in partnership with OCHA’s Information Services Branch (ISB) is engaged in a multi-year transformation project to improve the suite of information management tools/systems and that support the HPC. This includes data management applications for project submission and review, monitoring and evaluation of humanitarian response, and financial tracking, amongst others. These applications are developed on a Javascript stack using PostgreSQL, Node.js, AngularJS and Angular, and provide data to a public API and two Drupal websites: Financial Tracking Service (fts.unocha.org) and Humanitarian InSight (hum-insight.info). \n\nThe successful candidate will be working as a developer in a small team of both senior and junior backend and frontend developers, and will work either as a full stack developer or (depending on skillsets) with a particular emphasis on frontend or backend work. In addition to programming, the successful candidate may also be involved in the coordination and oversight of the developer team or members thereof, as well as contribute to sprint and release planning. While the position is home-based, occasional travel to Geneva, Switzerland might be required. We are looking for someone like you!\n\n\nMission\n\nWe are looking for a front-end developer who wants to join us on our mission to revamp the Platform.sh web application and deliver an experience that enables many more developers to build the applications/website they want.\n\nYou will collaborate intensely with the design and marketing teams to help build the product (extending the current UI, and building out whole new feature sets). This is a diverse position, were you will be part of a team of (front-end)-developers.\n\nThis position is full-time, and remote.\n\n\nMinimum qualifications\n\n\n* 3+ years of experience with HTML5 and CSS3 standards\n\n* 3+ years of experience with Javascript in concepts like asynchronous programming, closures, types, and ES6.\n\n* Experience ReactJS\n\n* Experience with LESS and SASS compilers.\n\n* Experience with Git version control.\n\n* Experience with responsive and cross-browser testing techniques.\n\n* A sharp eye for detail with a need to fix misalignments.\n\n* Comfortable to share your opinion in discussions about new product ideas, concepts and functionality.\n\n\n\n\n\nPreferred experience\n\n\n* Experience with Content Management systems (Drupal 7 or Drupal 8)\n\n* Experience working on highly performant and usable single page applications.\n\n* Experience working in a SCRUM environment. \n\n* Experience developing data visualizations (Paper.js, D3.js or others) is a big plus.\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
