Capital Markets Gateway is hiring a
Remote Staff Frontend Engineer

\nAbout us:\nโ€œCompanies access the capital markets to raise money that will ultimately drive expansion, innovation, and employment growth, which is why we have built an integrated capital markets platform that will optimize the deal flow process for all market participants.โ€ Greg Ingram, CMG CEO and Co-Founder. \n\n\nCapital Markets Gateway (CMG) is a financial technology firm that is modernizing the equity capital markets (ECM). CMG connects investors and underwriters via a neutral platform that delivers integrated ECM data and analytics, transparency, and workflow efficiencies. Providing a digital system of record for firm-wide deal activity, CMG helps clients make more timely, better-informed decisions. Launched in 2017 by a team of ECM practitioners, the CMG platform is currently relied upon by nearly 100 buy side firms representing $20 trillion in AUM and 15 investment banks. \n\n\nCMGโ€™s goal is to alleviate pain points resulting from disparate solutions, fragmented data, and frenzied communication. CMGโ€™s DataLab product solves for data analytics, while CMGโ€™s XC platform establishes connectivity between buy- and sell-side firms. \n \nAbout the team:\nThe CMG engineering team consists of domain experts who work collaboratively within a culture of cross-domain knowledge sharing. We value engineers who are passionate about modern technologies and best practices. \n\n\nOur engineers are willing to challenge the status quo and are constantly seeking improvement and efficiency in our code base and platform. CMG engineers are empowered to explore solutions and bring recommendations to the table. Weโ€™re in a period of making impactful engineering decisions. As part of our process, we believe in taking the time for research and prototyping - this is critical in making the right decisions. \n\n\nGiven the experience of our team, we have naturally adopted best practices from local development, through code review and into production rollouts. Besides the standard pull requests, test automation, code coverage tracking, containerization, and one-click deployments we are constantly reviewing these foundational components to develop new best practices. \n \nThe role:\nCMG is searching for a highly skilled and experienced front-end engineer. You will work alongside other talented engineers in defining and executing a short-term and long-term vision for front-end development. Your output will have a significant impact on both CMGโ€™s core product and the day-to-day of CMGโ€™s frontend development team. Weโ€™re proud of what weโ€™ve built -- weโ€™re looking for a passionate individual who can help us take it to the next level. \n\n\n\nWhat you will be responsible for:\n* Ownership over core front-end architecture (shared with other front-end leads)  \n* Delivering high-value, high-complexity product features \n* Training engineers, driving consistency, and creating re-usable patterns \n* Enhancing the developer experience \n* Proactively identifying areas of improvement and acting on them \n\n\n\nAreas you may contribute to in your first six months:\n* Feature delivery on one of CMGโ€™s SaaS web apps \n* Monorepo tooling \n* Module federation \n* DataGrid architecture \n* GraphQL strategy \n* Component testing architecture \n* Visual regression testing \n* AI incubation \n\n\n\nYour experience:\n* 10+ years in software engineering  \n* 5+ years building UIs (with advanced React experience) \n* 5+ years building backend services (day-to-day at CMG will not entail backend development, but this role requires a deep understanding of full stack architecture)\n\n\nModern JavaScript \n* TypeScript \n* Build tooling (i.e. Nx, Webpack, Turbo, Create React App, Module Federation) \n* State management (i.e. Redux, XState, Jotai, MobX, Apollo Reactive) \n* Node.js \n\n\nModern Testing \n* Unit (i.e. jest) \n* Component (i.e. React Testing Library, Storybook, Playwright) \n* End to end (i.e. Playwright, TestCafe, Cypress) \n\n\nModern DevOps \n* Containerized development and deployment \n* Configuration of and use of CI \n* Adhering to and advocating for CD principles \n\n\nModern CSS (i.e. css-in-js, styled-components)  \nModern API (i.e. GraphQL, React Query, Apollo, OpenAPI) \n\nNice to have:\n* Mobile app development (i.e., React Native, iOS, Android)  \n* Data visualizations (i.e., d3, Highcharts, Chart.js)\n* C# .NET (our microservice stack) \n* CI, CD, Docker, and modern DevOps \n* Feature flagging strategy/tooling \n* Prior experience working in FinTech \n\n\n\nOur values:\n* We innovate with purpose\n* We focus on outcomes vs. output\n* We believe diverse and inclusive teams fuel innovation\n* We are humble yet candid\n* We do right by the customer\n\n\n\nWhat we offer\n* Equity: Own a part of what you create and feel invested in what you're building\n* Healthcare: Medical, Dental & Vision \n* 401K Company Match \n* Life Insurance \n* Flexible Spending & Health Savings Account \n* Unlimited PTO \n* Remote Working Environment \n* Interactive Training Programs \n* STD & LTD \n* Education Reimbursement Program \n* Employee Referral Bonus \n* Paid time off for volunteering in our communities \n* Charitable giving programs chosen by our customers \n* Health and Wellness Programs \n\n\n\n\n$175,000 - $200,000 a year\n\n\nCompensation Information:\nThe estimated salary range for this role is $175,000 - $200,000. The successful candidateโ€™s salary will be determined by non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in our benefits program including health, dental, vision, 401K, paid time off, and our equity plan.  \n  \nThis employer participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form 1-9 information to confirm you are authorized to work in the US. \n  \nCMG embraces our ongoing commitment to building a culture reflecting the people, perspectives, and passions it represents. We will accept nothing less than equity, inclusion, and belonging for all. With the only constant in life being change, we will always listen, learn, and improve for the betterment of our teams, customers, and communities. Octopus Energy is hiring a
Remote Senior Backend Developer Supportsite Team

\nKraken is the technology tentacle of the Octopus Energy Group. \n\n\nAll technology is written and maintained by a multi-discipline engineering team of around 300 people globally. Our engineers work in โ€˜super teamsโ€™ which are focused on key areas of our platform as well as other innovative products. This also includes server-side, client-side and mobile engineers working closely with UX experts, copywriters and designers. \n \nTeams are empowered to choose a way of working that works for them, often opting for a Kanban-like approach. Notion and Asana are then used to specify and manage work; Github, CircleCI and Terraform Enterprise as part of an immutable-infrastructure, continuous delivery pipeline; and Datadog, Sentry and Cloudwatch to measure performance and monitor production. \n \nSome of our coding conventions are open-source . \n \nKraken is a great place to learn, work with some talented engineers and level-up your skills.  \n \nOur technology\nOn the server-side, we mainly use Python. Most of our websites are powered by Django, Django-REST-framework and GraphQL (Graphene).  \n \nWe use AWS heavily  as part of a continuous deployment pipeline. See, for example, Django, ELB health checks and continuous delivery. \n \nClient-side, we use React, htmx and SASS; our mobile apps are built using native code or React Native.\n\n\nOur team\nOur teamโ€™s goal is to make Kraken as awesome as the Energy Specialists who use it every day. We work closely with them and our in-house designers to keep making it better and better. Beyond that, our work empowers Krakenโ€™s many backend teams to build amazing features without having to worry about CSS and JavaScript getting in their way. We do this by building our own design system, working with other teams on building new features, and ensuring Kraken is a joy to work on. All while adding new features and maintaining existing functionality.\n\n\nWeโ€™re looking for a strong backend developer with a solid understanding of Django, to help us become even more of a full-stack powerhouse.\n\n\nSo, would you like to work in a team that gets the opportunity to collaborate with others, and dip into many domains? Would you like to help shape the experience of Energy Specialists using Kraken? Would you like to help come up with the best patterns to build an awesome website, from Django templates, to React, to HTMX? Would you like to mentor Frontend devs who want to build out their skills and go full-stack, while learning a few Frontend tricks from them? Give us a shout.\n\n\n\nWhat you'll do\n* We have lots of difficult design challenges to solve. The UK utilities market is complicated, outdated and process-heavy - there's an awful lot of domain modelling that we need to get right. Strong attention to detail is essential.\n* We have challenging technical problems to solve; like processing tens of millions of meter readings a day. We need the right technology in place to handle this smoothly as well as feeding data into a machine learning pipeline that models and predicts consumption. Or thinking about how we adapt Kraken to improve other utilities like water and broadband.\n* There's a great opportunity for disruption in the UK energy market. The big suppliers still dominate, but are not exactly popular. The energy landscape is changing as we move to more dis-aggregated forms of generation, with less predictability, more dynamism and smarter technology.\n* You'll be working for a company thatโ€™s fighting climate change. Our generation arm is the largest investor in solar generation in the UK, and is funding wind and anaerobic digestion. As a supplier, we're helping people to use greener technology and renewable energy, all helping move the UK towards a lower carbon future.\n\n\n\nWhat you'll need\n* We're looking for someone with a general interest in technology and problem-solving; someone diligent and thoughtful. It would be helpful to have experience/expertise in the following (in rough priority order):\n* Python\n* Django (or equiv. web framework)\n* Domain modelling\n* HTTP and REST APIs\n* Writing robust and fault-tolerant software\n* Celery and async processing\n* Postgres\n\nPlus experience in the following would be a bonus:\n* AWS\n* Terraform, Packer, Consul\n* React and Redux\n\n\n\nWhy else you'll love about us\n* Wondering what the salary for this role is? Just ask us! On a call with one of our recruiters it's something we always cover as we genuinely want to match your experience with the correct salary. The reason why we don't advertise is because we honestly have a degree of flexibility and would never want salary to be a reason why someone doesn't apply to Octopus - what's more important to us is finding the right octofit!\n* Octopus Energy is a unique culture. An organisation where people learn, decide, and build quicker. Where people work with autonomy, alongside a wide range of amazing co-owners, on projects that break new ground. We want your hard work to be rewarded with perks you actually care about! We won best company to work for in 2022, on Glassdoor we we're voted 50 best places to work in 2022 and our Group CEO, Greg has recorded a podcast about our culture and how we empower our people \n* Visit our perks hub - Octopus Employee Benefits\n\n\n\n\n\nWe would prefer someone who can work in our London office but will consider remote candidates. However, you do need to be able to work in the UK. \n\n\nWe're very excited to be growing our team. We're looking for skills and experience to help shape and define the future of not only our team, but the wider business at a global scale. If you're reading this and grinning, please apply! There are huge challenges to tackle, and we need amazing people who are keen to get stuck in.\n\n\nIf this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you. \n\n\nStudies have shown that some groups of people, like women, are less likely to apply to a role unless they meet 100% of the job requirements. Whoever you are, if you like one of our jobs, we encourage you to apply as you might just be the candidate we hire. Across Octopus, we're looking for genuinely decent people who are honest and empathetic. Our people are our strongest asset and the unique skills and perspectives people bring to the team are the driving force of our success. As an equal opportunity employer, we do not discriminate on the basis of any protected attribute. Our commitment is to provide equal opportunities, an inclusive work environment, and fairness for everyone.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Design, React, GraphQL, Django, JavaScript, CSS, Mobile, Senior and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $50,000 — $100,000/year\n
