๐ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!
When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site. \nChorus One is a leading cryptocurrency staking provider in Europe securing over $1bn in assets and operating nodes on cutting edge Proof of Stake networks such as Solana, Cosmos, Ethereum 2.0, Terra, and Polkadot. We also research, design, and build staking and interoperability solutions to enable a richer multi-chain ecosystem.\n\nTo supplement our extraordinary growth in 2021, we are seeking a Data Scientist to help us collect and analyze network data with the goal to optimize our performance, assist our decision making, and to maximize our customers’ rewards from participating in decentralized networks. \n\nOperating nodes is becoming more than a DevOps exercise as decentralized finance is maturing on Proof-of-Stake networks and staking protocols become increasingly complex; exposing node operators to a variety of optimization problems. As an example, the indexing protocol The Graph requires node operators to price their services and compete against other data providers. Additionally, decentralized exchange protocols and other DeFi applications bring opportunities to node operators to increase their revenues by ordering transactions (often referred to as MEV). The data science role will work closely with our platforms and research team to lead our exploration of these cutting-edge problem statements ensuring that we are providing the most efficient and performant service on the networks we support without exploiting users of these platforms.\n\nPeople at Chorus One come from all walks of life; we believe in the importance of carving out more space for diversity in the tech industry and bring down barriers to entry in the blockchain space to those underrepresented in the industry. We are aware of the systemic obstacles faced by women, non-binary people, people of color, and other minorities in the workplace, and we are taking active steps to making Chorus One, and the blockchain industry more broadly, a safe, inclusive space where all the voices are heard and equally matter.\n\nYour Responsibilities:\n\n\n* Build a data pipeline for the various networks we operate on to collect data about our nodes earnings, uptime, and other relevant metrics for internal usage (e.g. optimization, analytics, and accounting reports).\n\n* Solve optimization problems for protocols we operate on with the goal to maximize returns for our delegators and us, e.g. cost modelling and subgraph allocation on The Graph, minimizing gas expenditure, or optimizing pricing for transaction routing on Connext.\n\n* Work closely with our research and engineering team to formulate and execute a sustainable MEV strategy for Chorus One.\n\n\n\n\nThe ideal candidate:\n\nThe ideal candidate should be able to combine the knowledge of data science with software engineering to build data pipelines that can extract, analyze and produce actionable outputs from blockchain data. They should be able to map business questions to mathematical models and solve those algorithmically at a production level.\n\nFrom the engineering perspective:\n\n\n* Can dig into blockchain source code and relevant RPC docs to pull the required data.\n\n* Can develop automated data pipelines to obtain and process necessary data from APIs (preferably in the cloud).\n\n* Ability to write programs/fast-prototype solutions in Python, Golang or JavaScript.\n\n* Ability to understand (blockchain) codebases typically in Golang or Rust. \n\n\n\n\nFrom the data science perspective:\n\n\n* Can map business problems to mathematical models taking into account cryptoeconomic protocol designs.\n\n* Can determine what data is needed and how to get it to accomplish the task.\n\n* Can develop algorithms to solve the problems.\n\n\n\n\nFrom a business perspective:\n\n\n* Can work closely with the research team to understand cryptoeconomic protocol designs and implementations with the goal to identify data requirements and business opportunities.\n\n* Can report on a high level with regards to design, progress and performance of developed algorithms.\n\n* Can configure/develop visualization dashboards for the analyzed data, algorithms and their (financial) performance.\n\n\n\n\nIn addition:\n\n\n\n* You can take initiative and work independently.\n\n* You are able to work in a remote team with different stakeholders. E.g. from working with the business team to determine requirements for data projects to helping the infrastructure team automate processes that make use of the produced algorithms and data.\n\n* You have a private interest in cryptocurrencies and are active in the community looking for a full-time role. We are especially interested in individuals with expertise in staking and/or decentralized finance. Bonus points for people that have already experimented with decentralized protocols, e.g. building your own trading bots to arbitrage between DEXes or to trigger protocol liquidations, running your own blockchain nodes, etc.\n\n\n\n\nIf you think that you can fulfill part of these requirements and are looking for a way to develop in the other ones, this is a genuinely challenging role to help you make the jump to the most exciting industry in the world.\n\nBenefits\n\n\n* Autonomy, a friendly and supportive work environment and the opportunity for rapid growth.\n\n* Competitive fixed salary (USD 80-120k) + equity, a brand new laptop, a USD 3,000 a year training stipend, and a cryptocurrency starter kit.\n\n* All-expense paid quarterly team retreats at nice destinations (Coronavirus permitting). Past retreats took place in Egypt, Serbia, Kenya, USA, South Korea, and Dubai.\n\n* Remote work\n\n* Work on state of the art protocols that lay the foundation for an open, transparent, and programmable financial system.\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

\nAre you insatiably curious? A lover of research, statistics, and programming? Do you enjoy a formidable business challenge? If so, then we share a lot in common and would love to get to know you better.\n\nWhat is Gradient Metrics?\n\nWe’re a new breed of market researchers and data scientists that apply statistical models to make difficult decisions easier. We create actionable intelligence from data of any kind. We investigate deeply and iteratively to solve problems, not symptoms. Above all else, we are never satisfied with the first layer of understanding.\n\nWe help a diverse array of clients from Series A startups to Fortune 100 companies precisely evaluate their marketing campaigns, calculate customer lifetime value, assess brand equity and experiment with new product design. And that’s just an appetizer.\n\nThere is no “standard” day at Gradient — we like to push the norm by exploring new methodologies and technologies. We can do this because we are lean, flexible, and efficient. This makes us a little different than our peers and we’re looking for someone with a healthy dose of curiosity, brilliance, and (a bit of) grit to join us. Head over to our website and our latest newsletters to find out more about who we are and what we do.\n\nWhat We're Looking for: Data Scientist\n\nWe are looking for a data scientist who is highly proficient in R (actually, lives and breaths R) and wants to be a part of a research team that helps clients make difficult decisions and automate our research capabilities.\n\nThis role consists of three primary domains:\n\n* Building, improving and maintaining our internal R infrastructure, which currently includes 10+ packages that are always under active development\n\n* Executing and interpreting data analyses (using the functions and packages that you’ve built yourself!) to advise our research managers\n\n* Includes (survey) data processing, tidying, reshaping and visualising\n\n\n\n\n* Developing and building new research models, grounded in statistical best practices, along with being able to explain them to members of our research team\n\n\n\nThe skill set for this role should include:\n\n\n* Analyzing (survey) data in R\n\n\n* Highly fluent in tidyverse: dplyr, tidyr, haven, purrr\n\n\n* Able to transform wide format into long format and vice versa\n\n* Able to join datasets together with the appropriate type of join\n\n* Able to group, filter and summarize data\n\n* Able to work with (nested) lists and the purrr function family\n\n* Able to work with strings and regex patterns\n\n\n\n\n\n* Able to work with metadata (e.g. column labels, data recoding)\n\n* Ability to judge data and respondent quality\n\n\n\n\n\n* R software development\n\n\n* Driving internal code development\n\n\n* Writing clean, properly formatted and commented code\n\n* Delivering code with tests and examples\n\n* Providing extensive documentation in the form of vignettes\n\n* Packaging code and automating checks with CI solutions\n\n\n\n\n\n* Experience with git\n\n* Constantly willing to learn and stay up to date with latest developments in R\n\n\n\n\n\n* Statistical inference:\n\n\n* Experience with the creation of classification, regression and clustering models\n\n* Experience with the GLM family (gaussian, poisson, binomial, survival, and ordinal models) as well as hierarchical models\n\n* Ability to explain and synthesize the results of statistical models to a non-statistician\n\n\n\n\n\n* Visualization:\n\n\n* Deep familiarity and expertise in the ggplot2 library\n\n* Able to produce visually appealing and effective plots\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNice to have:\n\n\n* Familiarity with designing and analyzing survey experiments, including but not limited to:\n\n\n* Discrete choice experiments (e.g., conjoint, MaxDiff)\n\n* Randomized control trials\n\n* Message and persuasion testing\n\n\n\n\n\n* Familiarity with survey design platforms (e.g., Qualtrics)\n\n* Experience in creating and working with APIs\n\n* Experience with AWS cloud computing provider\n\n\n\n\nEmployment conditions\n\nBased anywhere, working hours in EU or North American time zones (ET +- 6 hours).\n\n\n* Comfortable with permanent remote arrangement\n\n* Open to a 90 day trial period\n\n* Competitive salary, depending on location and experience\n\n* Flexible working hours\n\n* Lean SCRUM points system\n\n* Unlimited days off\n\n* Spoken and written language: English\n\n* Bi-annual live meet-up trips with the entire team\n\n\n* We’ve already visited New York, Paris and the Rocky Mountains! Maybe your home town can be next, if you can convince us of how awesome it is\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy we think we’re special\n\nGradient is a truly unique company, and we intend to keep it that way. We value both independence and collaboration — meaning you can do what you need to do to solve a problem, but you have all the tools and expertise at your disposal to get it done. You’ll be part of our growth and will help craft our legacy.\n\nYou’ll learn something new every single day by solving problems that rarely have a clear solution. And if you don’t know something, we’ll give you the resources you need to figure it out. We love books, classes, and workshops. We’ll take good care of you with a competitive salary, healthcare coverage, unlimited time off, and a flexible schedule that allows you to be a real person too. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
