To continue our growth weโre seeking a Senior Backend Engineer located in London or Auckland. With your strong production experience of Python and ETL processes, youโll play a key role in our data extraction, transformation pipelines, data storage (MongoDB), and data delivery via AWS API Gateway (Rest APIs) and AWS AppSync (GraphQL). Youโll need a deep understanding and experience with serverless AWS (Lamba with EventBridge), and knowledge of the serverless framework (https://www.serverless.com/) would be a significant benefit.

We plan each cycle well ahead of time with team discussions, research and workshops to make sure weโre making informed decisions.

1 week before a cycle we do technical due diligence and write acceptance criteria
During a cycle we write code using test-driven development, test code to development and staging environments, collaborate with QA, Design and PM team members to ensure features are production ready.
What You'll Do
Write, improve and maintain serverless functions to accurately transform and load data into efficient and organised MongoDB storage
Develop and maintain 3rd party data clients to enrich stored data
Create and update API endpoints for a frontend client using AWS API Gateway (Rest APIs) and AWS AppSync (GraphQL)
Analyse and tune application performance with a focus on efficiency using analytics tools such as Lumigo, Sentry, Segment and DataDog
Research and architect solutions using serverless architecture patterns
Implement and improve analytics and application monitoring performance
Approach your work using test driven development (TDD) to ensure the integrity of your code and our services
About You
Native English (this is essential)
Located in London, UK or Auckland, NZ
5+ years full-time work experience as a backend engineer on production services
Advanced knowledge of Python ^3.10 and/or NodeJS ^15.0.0
Deep knowledge of webpage parsing, including XPath and Regex
Excellent experience with MongoDB and DynamoDB
Production experience with AWS services in a serverless microservices context, such as Lambda, AppSync, API Gateway, S3, SNS, SQS, Cognito, EventBridge
Lots of energy and enthusiasm about being part of a small, progressive team
Good To Have
University degree in computer science, or equivalent experience
Experience working in a VC-backed startup environment

\nTrellis is looking for a Senior Software Engineer available full-time to lead one of its Magento development teams. Here is the background that we are seeking:\n\n\n* A strong theoretical background in software engineering and object-oriented programming is required.\n\n* A strong understanding of database management and performant database design is required.\n\n* At least 5 years of professional experience doing LAMP stack development, including server setup and configuration is required.\n\n* At least 3 years of provable Magento experience, and at least 2 years of experience on Magento 2, specifically, is required. We suggest submitting a small portfolio, or at least a code sample as proof of this experience.\n\n* At least 3 years of experience using and helping to manage code repositories using Git or Subversion is required.\n\n* Above average ability to listen, speak, read and write in English daily is required.\n\n* At least 2 years of using software development management tools like the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, etc.) or a similar set of applications is recommended.\n\n* Prior experience integrating with external web services, like SOAP, REST, or Graph QL APIs is recommended.\n\n* Prior experience leading a development team of 4 or more people is recommended.\n\n* Prior experience doing setup and development using virtual machines or Docker is preferred.\n\n* Prior experience setting up continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) with tools like Jenkins, Git hooks, or BitBucket Pipelines is preferred.\n\n* Prior experience using AWS to setup and configure EC2 and RDS servers to support LAMP stack applications is preferred.\n\n* One or more provable Magento certifications (especially Associate or Professional backend certifications in Magento 2) is preferred.\n\n* A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field of study, or some other similar level of educational background, is preferred.\n\n\n\n\nFurthermore, we have the following requirements:\n\n\n* If the candidate lives locally to our Malden, MA office, we would like the technical lead to be in the office 3+ days per week.\n\n* Must be ready to assist the Project Manager by adding technical details to tickets, architecting solutions, and estimating new or future work.\n\n* Must be able to manage a daily flow of work and delegate work to other team members appropriately.\n\n* Must be able to work during Trellis’s office hours, which are 9am to 6pm Eastern, Monday to Friday.\n\n* Must be able to mentor and teach junior team members on all topics related to Magento development.\n\n* Must be able to handle escalations of mid- to senior-level of difficulty regarding any aspect of Magento website issues, including hosting-related issues.\n\n* Must be able to code review junior developers and promote good development practices.\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
