Solar Monkey is hiring a
Remote Platform Infrastructure Engineer

Whilst it is possible to run completely "server less" these days, that isn't always practical for all applications. Thus we still run a moderate cloud stack on the Google Cloud Platform. As you can see in the description of our stack, we use Hashicorp's tools for deployment. That means a Consul + Vault cluster, and Nomad to schedule (container) jobs. That actually runs stable without too much maintenance. Most of the work is in improving the experience of other developers, and making it easier for them to do the things they need to do on the operations side.\n\nFor example, we use Terraform to control and set up our resources. However that doesn't mean that it is clear for everyone what to use and how to tie that together. Modularizing and documenting is key here. Also, we want to enable continuous integration here, so everyone can see what the effect would be of their changes, without giving everyone the necessary credentials to the whole stack.\n\nThe rest of the team will look to you for advice on how to deploy their service, how to keep sight on its metrics and errors. Note that you are probably the one with the most knowledge, we do rotate on-call duties with the whole team.\n\n\n**Compensation**\nThe envisioned salary range for this position is €55k-€70k per year (excluding 8% holiday pay), depending on experience. Besides that we offer Stock Appreciation Rights and a 4% learning budget. You’ll get an Apple Macbook Pro (M1) to work on.\n\n\n**About You**\nAs important as coding itself however is your attitude towards colleagues and learning. We are looking for someone who is eager to improve, not too shy to ask any type of question and who can communicate well in writing. The reason for this is that we work remotely a lot (we did quite so before corona, but now practically 100%).\n\nYou are eager to solve complex problems in a sustainable and pragmatic way. You don’t shy away from calling out possible pitfalls or infeasible plans. On the other hand you are also solution oriented, and helpful towards people who don’t understand code.\n\nMore information on who we are and what we do can be found [here](https://engineering.solarmonkey.nl/jobs/2021-11-platform-lead/#_details). \n\nBe sure to mention the word **ENTICING** when applying to show you read the job post completely. This is a beta feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n $50,000 — $80,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nRemote - Europe / CET

When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site. Are you an experienced developer, someone that likes to maintain the overview, improve the architecture, foresee the rabbitholes and help the more junior people grow? This is the position for you! Our 2 main products are composed of several services of varying complexity, and what you will work on is diverse. Some have been set up with deliberate (distributed) architectures in mind, others have grown more organically. It is important in this job to help our Product Managers to determine what is feasible to build, whilst also striving for reducing complexity and improving the stability of our services.\n\n### Compensation\n\nWe offer Stock Appreciation Rights and a 4% learning budget. You’ll get an Apple Macbook Pro (M1) to work on.\n\n### About You\n\nWell, you have been doing this for quite a while, in one form or another. As important as coding itself however is your attitude towards colleagues and learning. We are looking for someone who is eager to improve, not too shy to ask any type of question and who can communicate well in writing. The reason for this is that we work remotely a lot (we did quite so pre-COVID, but now practially 100%).\n\nYou are eager to solve complex problems in a sustainable and pragmatic way. You don’t shy away from calling out possible pitfalls or infeasible plans. On the other hand you are also solution oriented, and helpful towards people who don’t understand code.\n\nMore information on who we are and what we do can be found [here](https://engineering.solarmonkey.nl/jobs/2021-10-senior-dev/#_details).\n\n### Requirements\n\n* You are highly proficient with Python or another server-side language like Go, Ruby or Java (and willing to learn Python of course).\n* You have some professional experience in another programming language.\n* You can design an architecture that suits the requirements of the service.\n* You can clearly outline your thoughts about a technical solution in written form (and diagrams are always a bonus!)\n* You actively engage with others to optimize processes and reduce bottlenecks.\n* You are able to pick up new things quickly.\n* You want to work 32 to 40 hours a week.\n* You are able to work with a diverse group of people. You’re not a rockstar or code-ninja, you’re a human, of some form 🙂.\n* You have experience with container based deployment in one cloud or another.\n \n\nBe sure to mention the word **PEACH** when applying to show you read the job post completely. This is a beta feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n $70,000 — $90,000/year\n \n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

This job post is closed and the position is probably filled. Please do not apply.
**We are looking for a *Dutch* front-end developer, as our application is in Dutch. This is a beta feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on previous jobs related to JavaScript, Angular, User Interface, Front End, Developer, Digital Nomad and Design jobs that are similar:\n\n $60,000 — $110,000/year\n
