What is the job?ย
No matter how powerful and flexible you build a platform, at the end of the day itโs the experience you can give the user that matters.ย Radix is seeking a savvy frontend development expert to help build the tools that will define the future of decentralized finance (DeFi) and Web3.0 user experience.
DeFi and Web3.0 have turned out to be the killer apps that are taking public distributed ledgers from niche products for speculators and hobbyists to projects of global economic significance, and with them have come a new paradigm for user interfaces.ย Authentication models, interoperability expectations, and the entire concept of user accounts are all undergoing dramatic changes; at Radix youโll have the opportunity to define the way forward while working at the very cutting edge of a space undergoing furious growth.
Your initial focus will be development of full-stack typescript applications and integrated backend services spanning web and mobile devices that get users, their identity, and their assets connected to DeFi and Web3.0 applications on the Radix network. Working from Figma prototypes and pre-defined network APIs you will work within our Core Apps team to build and maintain web applications that interact with our unique mobile app, backend infrastructure to connect web and mobile experiences, and SDKs and technologies that developers will use to create their own web applications that interact with our mobile app.
What are we looking for?ย
Youโre a confident coder who likes to work at the user interface level, and you have built public-facing websites or applications in Typescript in the past.
Youโre a generalist, and have experience building REST services and/or WebSocket backends.
You are a researcher and enjoy requirements engineering for SDK development.ย
You like to actively shape designs and play with ideas as you build, and are comfortable iterating until it feels just right.
Youโre able to isolate the 90% case for user experiences.ย ย
You think in terms of making the most common interactions effortless, rather than making anything possible.
Youโre intelligent and learn quickly.ย Absolutely no one at Radix winds up only doing whatโs in their job description, and adaptability is essential.
What do you need?
4+ years as a professional software engineer in full-stack development
You are fluent in Typescript.
You haveย SDK development experience.
You know how to work with complex APIโs (ideally WebRTC, WebAuthn, etc)
You excel at researching and requirements gathering.
Youโre enthusiastic about working in a multidisciplinary team with mobile engineers.ย
Who are we?ย
At RDX Works, we're a team of like-minded thinkers who have long been convinced that we're living in the earliest stages of a global financial revolution. This revolution is being fuelled by decentralized finance (or DeFi for short), which is enabling an assortment of pioneering developers and entrepreneurs to re-invent almost every financial product that is currently traded and invested in traditional markets, without requiring central authorities or siloed infrastructure. DeFi has captured a great deal of attention and investment in the crypto-aware niche, growing assets under management from $1 billion to over $200ย billion in a few years. Impressive as its growth has been, its current market size isn't even a rounding error on the over $400 trillion held in traditional finance. We're focused on what it will take to go from billions to trillions.
RDX went back to first principles to come up with the right technical solutionโthe first layer-one protocol built specifically for mainstream DeFiโand we have already tested out at over 1 million transactions per second. We're keenly aware that the need for an infinitely scalable platform is only one prerequisite among many for mass adoption, and we're also blazing new ground in the areas of purpose-built developer tools, user experiences, and regulatory integration.
We have forged a path deep into the future of what distributed ledger technology is going to look like and we need you to come and be part of the team that is making that happen right now.
If this job sounds like it was made for you, then please apply directly via the link or email [email protected] for more information.ย ย
Alternatively, if you feel like you donโt match all of the requirements, we would love you to still apply anyway. We understand that confidence gaps and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting incredible candidates and we wouldnโt want this to prevent us from meeting you; especially as we are big advocates of helping people learn & grow. This is also another reason we do not advertise salaries, we want to keep it as even a playing field as possible!ย

Virtual Pricing Director is hiring a full-stack engineer to help implement our new legal tech web application - contributing across all aspects of our app, its data, architecture and deployment.\n\nWeโre a well-funded scaleup (no VC money) building the future of legal pricing, for small and large law firms alike. Our workflow and data management software means an end to overcharging clients, arbitrary pricing, and other bad practices that have existed for years.\n\nOur two directors are recognised world authorities in this domain, and bring a number of signed firms ready to use our software. We're off to a healthy start, busy preparing to deploy to one of the world's largest legal teams.\n\nThe work is varied, challenging, and we place equal emphasis on front and back-end. Because of the need to deliver scheduled features, fix bugs, and respond to the needs of newly onboarded firms, weโre looking for someone who relishes lots of hands-on work, contributing across the whole stack. \n\nOur app is powered by React, with Apollo Client for its GraphQL queries and mutations. It leverages Ant Design as the UI framework, upon which we build a mixture of UI components; some simple, some complex. On the back-end, we're using PostgreSQL as our RDS, TypeORM as our ORM, TypeGraphQL to define the API schema, and Apollo Server to deliver the GraphQL.\n\nBoth our front and back ends are coded in TypeScript. We believe in end-to-end testing and have therefore used Playwright to handle an automated E2E test script which runs before deployments.\n\nYou'll join us as we begin to roll out our product to some of the top law firms, and in time to help define, design and build the next two roadmapped modules, and to grow from there.\n\n\n**Upcoming projects across the team**\n\n* Building out a suite of new modules, from designing the underlying business logic and data models, to designing and implementing the application, front-ends and infrastructure\n* Standardising on common approaches that uphold modern enterprise architecture standards\n* New data visualisation and BI reporting solutions\n* Designing and implementing new APIs and data integration pipelines\n* Helping automate quality, CI/CD, and shaping a DevOps approach\n* Contributing to our development culture, methods, and tooling\n* Optionally; supporting dialogue with customers - discovery, requirements, technical solution design, implementation \n\n\n\n**We're looking for**\n\n* Someone with full-stack engineering abilities that span the application, front-end, data and infrastructure considerations\n* A good technical understanding of software engineering principles \n* Technology agnostic, and adept with TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL and GraphQL\n* An understanding of the principles of serverless applications, preferably based around AWS\n* Proficient with SQL, and web service design\n* An interest in upholding data security principles and helping choose and implement effective application architectures\n* Ability to unpack complex requirements, to uphold security of sensitive data and to conform to best practices\n* A collaborative, adaptable, user-centred approach\n\n\n**You may also bring - or like to gain - skills around**\n\nAnt Design | TypeORM | TypeGraphQL | Apollo Client | Apollo Server | Java | CircleCI | Heroku | Auth0 | AWS | TDD | Agile | Domain-driven design (DDD) | data modelling | integration patterns\n\n**Salary and benefits**\n\n* ยฃ70,000 - ยฃ90,000 - reviewed at six months - we're keeping an open mind\n* Share scheme for formative team members (once proven value to the business)\n* 25 days holiday, plus public holidays and a day for your birthday\n* Family-friendly and flexible culture - tell us what you need\n* Personal development plan that you can shape, with budget for related training/certifications\n\n**About us**\n\nVirtual Pricing Director has developed groundbreaking software to assist law firms to understand and price their fees, be that ยฃ10k or ยฃ10m. We are the authority for legal pricing and our software has attracted the attention of the largest firms in numerous countries, with a number of partnerships and customers signed. \nWe're now strengthening our fully-remote development team - you'll be our fourth engineering colleague, with more to follow - offering a culture where you will work under your own initiative towards common goals. It's an opportunity to be a formative team member, joining a friendly flat-structured team that operates without ego, and to grow and improve together. \nVirtual Pricing Director is a privately-owned venture, founded by Burcher Jennings LLP and Validatum. https://www.virtualpricingdirector.com/\n\n**Location:** fully remote, within the UK only\n\n**Please note, we are only considering candidates that hold an established right to work in the UK**\n \n\nPlease mention the word **LOVES** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xMzc=). Nuvocargo is reinventing the $2 trillion freight forwarding industry. We are a digital-first freight forwarder using a mix of technology and exceptional service to help companies seamlessly move products across the Americas, starting with the biggest trade lane in the world: Mexico USA cross-border trucking.\n\n**The opportunity for you**\n\nAs a Nuvocargo software engineer, you will work with senior members of the engineering and product organization. You will help architect and implement solutions up and down the stack from our front end apps, to our backend API, to our databases and external services.\n\nYou will also be part of the landing team that will kickstart our engineering presence in Mexico City. As part of that team you'll help set a high quality bar for engineering and help us bring software best-practices from Silicon Valley to Mexico, making a meaningful impact to the startup ecosystem in Latin America.\n\nTogether with rest of the engineering, product, design organization, you will help shape the future of Nuvocargo's tech stack and engineering culture.\n\nOur current stack includes a combination of modern tooling and philosophies:\n\n- The front end interfaces include React (including Context and Hooks), Next.js and interactive interfaces via the WhatsApp Business API interfaces and emails.\n- Our React/Jamstack apps are continuously deployed on Netlify and the internal team workflows and interfaces use a mix of low-code and no-code solutions (think: Airtable, Retool and Zapier) for fast iteration combined with custom front ends for usability, precision and control on certain workflows.\n- The design and styling processes for our frontend interfaces include Zeplin.io and a component library hosted in React Styleguidist.\n- We use Rails API, a Postgres database and API integrations with multiple external services for back end development.\n- We have a strong culture of building quickly and iteratively, deploying features and releases to staging and production multiple times a day.\n\nThe products you build will be used by hundreds of Nuvocargo's customers, carriers and users across Nuvocargo's internal teams.\n\n**Who you are**\n\n- You love deploying features. One of your favorite feelings is shipping code and releasing new features to users. You know when to accrue technical debt in order to get a feature live. You strive for simple, readable code and you are averse to over-engineering the task at hand (YAGNI).\n- You have a track record of building great software in fast-growing companies. You have battle scars and wisdom from many years of building software in ever-changing environments. That wisdom comes both from projects that were incredibly successful and from projects that were abject failures.\n- You are passionate about making an impact in the Latin American startup ecosystem. You want to have a direct impact in establishing Nuvocargo's engineering org as one that bridges the gaps between Silicon Valley startups and the Latin American startup ecosystem.\n- 1 + 1 = 3. You strongly believe that collaboration, pairing, mentoring and raising the bar for everyone on the team makes the team greater than the sum of its parts.\n- You are a software craftsperson who believes in the journey to mastery. You believe in creating well crafted software, steadily adding value to stakeholders (as well as the engineering team and your future self) and collaborating with others with an open mind and flexible opinions. You believe that the journey of mastering the craft of software never ends, but you love being along for the ride.\n- You thrive in a low-friction, light-process environment. We are not a meeting-heavy org. You are self-motivated to write great software, release great products, pair with team members all without spending hours deliberating whether something is "3 points" or "5 points".\n- You are intellectually curious. You are probably a polyglot when it comes to programming languages (and natural languages), even if you don't have mastery over those other languages. You are always curious to dabble in a new library or framework or language and you analyze their high level pros and cons without even realizing it.\n- You are both a great communicator and listener. You are great at synthesizing inputs from different sources; you speak and write clearly, concisely, and with a structure that gets everyone on the same page when things feel messy.\n\n**Must haves**\n\nFluent in English.\nAt least three years of professional experience of developing and deploying production software.\nProfessional experience in at least one dynamically typed language (JavaScript, Ruby, Python etc).\nPersonally growth minded.\n\n**Nice to haves**\n\nProfessional experience at a software startup.\nExpertise in JavaScript and Ruby (React + Rails, even better!).\nExperience mentoring people technically.\nExperience building APIs.\n\n**What we offer**\n\n-A unique & fun culture at the intersection of the freight and technology industries as well as between the USA and Latin American work cultures.\n-Above market salary, benefits, and a robust employee stock ownership program to make you an owner and partner of the business.\n-Remote-first location strategy and allows you to work from wherever. Hybrid office / work from home model that allows for flexibility and collaboration time in our -Polanco / New York City office. Beautiful modern Polanco office space that is perfect for collaboration.\n-A chance to join the ground floor of a well-funded, fast-growing startup that is modernizing a trillion dollar industry critical to the global economy.\n\n**More about Nuvocargo**\n\nInternational logistics is the multi-trillion dollar connective tissue of the world economy, but it's been slow to leverage the power of technology; it's finally going digital, and Nuvocargo is playing a big role in driving this historic shift.\n\nWe believe that true expertise in logistics cannot be automated and is incredibly valuable; however, we think software and technology can give logistics professionals superpowers to help provide shippers with the best service, and make everyone's lives easier.\n\nWe're growing quickly, and are backed by some of the world's best investors from both Silicon Valley and Latin America such as Tiger Global Management, The Flexport Fund, QED (founders of $60B+ Capital One), NFX (Silicon Valley fund with $10bn in exits), the founders of Nubank ($30B+), Loft ($3B+), Ramp ($2B+), and Rappi ($5B+), Y Combinator (~1% acceptance rate, created $300bn worth of startups), and angels who have built, exited, or currently sit on the board of companies worth over $100 billion.\n\nOur DNA is comprised of four very distinct worlds and cultures: Silicon Valley, Logistics, Latin America, and USA. We are at the intersection of these worlds and laying the foundations for hyper-growth at one of the most tech-forward 3PL's in both the US and Mexico.\n\nRead more about us here: www.nuvocargo.com/about and feel free to reach out with any questions.\n\nWe look forward to working with you! \n\nPlease mention the word **RECONCILE** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xMzc=). Hi, Iโm Dani, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur.\n\nAlong with my business partner James, weโve been on a mission to change the way people buy and sell online for over 9 years. We started Saily Inc, a company that developed one of the top-ranking secondhand shopping apps in the US with millions of downloads. The Saily team joined Mercari in 2018 to help take the company public at a $4 Billion valuation.\n\nIn 2019, we built Flyp, a technology company decentralizing online commerce. We started with an app that connects small businesses to professional sellers who sell their clothing inventory for them. Pros handle pricing, listing, negotiating with buyers, packing and shipping each item, then splitting profits.\n\nWe just started growing our engineering team to develop tools to empower our Pros. These are web-based tools involving web scraping, web automation, and Chrome extensions to help Pros grow their businesses.\n\nWeโre looking to hire full-stack engineers to be in charge of our tools (MERN tech stack). We value attitude over skills. Weโre looking for someone to treat this startup as their own, have opinions, be involved in decision making, have a hacker mindset, and be result-driven. Weโre a remote-first startup, and we make sure to have overlapping hours across the team to boost productivity.\n\n**Requirements:** Be in Europe, and have 4+ years experience in MERN stack\n\n**Bonus:** If you've worked with Chrome extensions & web automation\n\n[https://www.daniarnaout.com/](https://www.daniarnaout.com/)\n\n[https://www.joinflyp.com/](https://www.joinflyp.com/) \n\nPlease mention the word **GRAND** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xMzc=). # Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)\n\n## Simple Poll\n\nFull Time โ Remote\n\n\n# About Simple Poll\n\n- Simple Poll brings polls and surveys natively into Slack. Learn more about the product on [https://simplepoll.rocks](https://simplepoll.rocks)\n- Wilhelm created Simple Poll in early 2016 to improve his own workflow when working in Slack. Started as a side project and then grew up to be a real company!\n- Simple Poll is one of the most popular apps for Slack and over the course of a year serves millions of users. As a member of the engineering team, you will be able to directly impact the experience of all of those users.\n- We are a fairly early stage company with a small and growing team. We're profitable, bootstrapped (no external investment) and very much plan to stay that way!\n\nBecause weโre such a small team, you will be able to have a massive impact. Not just on Simple Poll the product and its millions of users but also on the company, our culture, and our day to day collaboration. \n\nFrom an engineering perspective Simple Poll can often feel similar to building an API. Slack apps work largely by receiving JSON payloads from Slack, making API calls to the Slack API, and then returning some JSON back to Slack. As such, our engineering work tends to be very backend-heavy and although we do have a web dashboard, writing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is more rare.\n\nIn our day to day work we face an interesting set of evolving engineering and product challenges:\n\n- One such challenge is dealing creatively with the constraints of the Slack platform. Since Simple Poll exists almost entirely within Slack, we are bound by many of the constraints and extension capabilities of the Slack platform, such as the block kit framework ([https://api.slack.com/block-kit](https://api.slack.com/block-kit)). A powerful set of tools is available to us, but the path to bringing a feature to life is sometimes not as straightforward as it seems.\n- We also constantly face trade offs between making Simple Poll more powerful (and implementing a long list of customer feature requests) while simultaneously maintaining and improving the simplicity that out customers love. Finding a good balance is important here and often we find that there is a way to achieve both capability and simplicity.\n- Slack is also constantly evolving and it is our responsibility to keep up with this evolution to ensure that Simple Poll works no matter what Slack context users find themselves in. Recent wide-reaching changes have been the introduction of Slack Enterprise Grid (multiple Slack workspace under the same umbrella) and Slack Connect (shared channels between different Slack workspaces). These changes make it more challenging to model Slack entities like users and channels โ if youโre curious to learn more about this problem, check out this blog post: [https://wilhelmklopp.com/posts/slack-database-modelling/](https://wilhelmklopp.com/posts/slack-database-modelling/)\n\n### Remote\n\nWe are remote-first with folks across Canada, the UK, and Germany ๐ ย We love and embrace remote working (and have done so even in pre-pandemic times). But especially as the pandemic winds down and more travel opens up, we plan to regularly get everyone together for a one-week company offsite, probably twice a year. Our last company offsite took us to Toronto in Canada ๐\n\n# The ideal candidate\n\n- Excellent verbal and written communication skills\n- A high degree of empathy\n- 3+ years of experience working on production web applications written primarily in Python\n- Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS\n- You care about the product as well as the code\n- You enjoy picking up new skills and are always learning and growing\n- You have an ability to think critically and pragmatically about designing systems and building features\n- You enjoy shipping and getting things done\n\n# Responsibilities\n\n- Write, review, deploy, and maintain code in mostly Python (back end) and HTML/CSS/JavaScript (front end)\n- Collaborate with the rest of the team on defining and implementing new features and coordinate to prioritise engineering work\n- Debug production issues and implement corresponding fixes\n- Take ownership of parts of the codebase\n- Document the systems you help build, monitor, and maintain\n- Evaluate and recommend solutions to guide team decision making\n- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes\n- Rotating responsibilities for on-call\n\n## You Might Work On\n\n- Architecting and implementing new features. Some of the things coming up on our roadmap are blind polls, ranked polls, exports to google sheets, and many more!\n- UX Improvements to make Simple Poll *simpler* and more flexible\n- Performance improvements to make Simple Poll faster\n- Improving reliability, which could for example entail setting up a new Datadog dashboard\n- Work with a designer to build a new page in our frontend and then implement that page based on their design\n- Something completely different! As an early stage company, we tend to be pretty "all hands on deck" when something comes up that we need to get done\n- Use and provide feedback on [Kolo](https://kolo.app). A local Django development tool that weโve been building\n\n# Practicals and benefits\n\n- You will report directly to the CEO (Wilhelm)\n- This is a fully remote, full time (40 hours per week) position. Your primary timezone must be between UTC-5 and UTC+2 (inclusive on both ends) to ensure we have enough overlap as a team\n- We'll buy you a new MacBook Pro and any other tools you need to do your best work (screens, accessories, etc.)\n- 30 days of holiday a year (including local national holidays), and you're encouraged to take all of it. You're also free to take additional time off for any other reasonable reasons, for example if you're sick (of course!) but also if you need to spend an afternoon taking care of something personal.\n- Sustainable and healthy working matters to us. We care about building delightful products for our customers, not hitting arbitrary daily hour counts.\n- The start date for this role is January or February 2022\n\n## Our principles\n\n*Inspired (often straight up copied) by the [Zen of GitHub](https://warpspire.com/posts/taste) and the [Zen of Python](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zen_of_Python)*\n\nExplicit is better than implicit\n\nSimple is better than complex\n\nFavor focus over features\n\nAnything added dilutes everything else\n\nMind your words, they are important\n\nCraft the details, they matter\n\nShip early and often\n\nNever miss an opportunity to delight\n\nBuild for the long term\n\nUse what you build with pride\n\nCreate lasting value for customers\n\nMistakes are possible when moving fast\n\nEmpower with courtesy and empathy\n\n## Our tech stack\n\n- Python + Django\n- PostgresQL\n- Heroku\n- Amazon Web Services\n- GitHub\n- HTML, Tailwind CSS, Vanilla JavaScript\n- Slack, Datadog, Zoom, Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion\n- Our own products! (including https://kolo.app)\n\n# How to apply\n\n[Apply via this form](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSerhXiCMolv2Y1dLodNvaRJu9eT-FCZ2LUgdrDwZtlDg2R0zw/viewform?usp=pp_url&entry.2062135242=Full-stack)\n\nHave any questions? \nCome help us build one of the most exciting new products for the media and entertainment industry! Qwire is revolutionizing how studios, editors, composers, artists, publishers, labels and performance rights organizations collaborate. Managing the entire audio lifecycle of movies, television shows, and live sports broadcasts is no small task. Making sure that accurate licensing information gets to the right destination so people can get paid is even a bigger one. Studios like Warner Bros. are replacing their million-dollar home-grown solutions and spreadsheets with our Saas offering. \nAs a Senior Software Engineer at Qwire, you will be a part of a cross functional team developing a full stack JavaScript application. Our technical stack includes Node.js powering our REST APIs and services, along with Postgresql, Redis, and ElasticSearch deployed on AWS. On the front end, we use React, Redux, and Thunks. At Qwire, we write our own tests as developers. We use Jest as our testing framework, and maintain unit, API integration, and end-to-end tests using Cypress.io.\nYou should have depth and experience across some meaningful subset of our stack. We like generalists, especially ones with 'T' shaped experience - depth in one area and broad interest in developing other areas. While we'll play to your strengths, you'll have the opportunity to learn and contribute across the entire code base. At Qwire, we value a friendly, collaborative, data driven culture that places a premium on learning: slope over intercept. \nResponsibilities\n* Your primary responsibility will be writing high quality, clear, maintainable JavaScript that improves our product. Qwire is still a small team, so every engineer contributes to the code base.\n* Lead by example with the code you contribute, code reviews, and peer programming\n* Collaborate with product management to manage and execute the product roadmap. \n* Work with the CTO and the development team to analyze and design the application architecture and implement functional requirements\n* As part of the development team, contribute to improving our development and deployment processes\n* Identify any pain points in our logging, monitoring, and APM; design and implement improvements to overall observability and performance.\n* Be welcoming and approachable. Answer questions about our tooling and processes with kindness and compassion. Help others understand the work we do and how they can improve their craft.\n\n\n\nExperience that will be helpful\n* 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience with JavaScript in Node.js and React\n* A track record of developing web-based applications and a deep technical understanding of JavaScript technologies such as Node.js, React, and Redux.\n* Experience as a lead engineer for project of increasing complexity, ideally in a startup environment\n* Experience with docker-based container development and deployment\n* Experience with web design architecture and stage-appropriate scalability \n* Familiarity with application security best practices, OAUTH, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)\n* Some familiarity with database management, monitoring, debugging will be helpful\n* Experience with functional and class-based JavaScript code. Previous experience with another functional language (Scala, Clojure, Haskell, Elixir, etc.) is preferred, but not required.\n\n\nWe don't require you to submit a resume, but please do submit one if you think it will help us understand your background. We place more emphasis on you telling us a bit about yourself, why you're a good fit for this project, and your relevant experience. A couple of paragraphs in the "About You" section will do. That should give us enough context to review your GitHub profile, open-source contributions, and/or other code you've written, which we've found is the best way identify potential team members. Please include a link to your personal website, repo, or other online code you've written that we can have a look at. \nEvery candidate that submits an application will get a response. We'll reach out to selected candidates to schedule an initial call after reviewing each submission. Our interviewing process is fast and straightforward: no brainteasers, no coding challenges, and your first conversation will be with another engineer, not a recruiter. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

**What weโre doing**\n\n80% of the global workforce doesnโt sit behind a desk - think retail assistants, waiters, bartenders, care assistants, nurses and so on. But up until now only 1% of funding has gone into building tools for them.\n\nAs a desk based worker itโs hard to imagine working without tools like Slack, Trello and Gmail, but for much of the deskless workforce, thatโs the current state of play.\n\nThe only way to find out what shifts youโre working is to look at a print out taped to the break room wall. Changes to shifts are scribbled on the printout, photographed then sent to WhatsApp groups. Managers spend hours calling and texting trying and often not succeeding to fill overtime shifts. Payslips are sent in the post or accessed via web 1.0 portals and holiday is requested either in-person or through clunky legacy kiosks. And thatโs just the tip of the iceberg.\n\nThe result is a dissatisfied workforce, soaring rates of attrition and tens of billions wasted in lost productivity, re-hiring and unnecessary agency spend. \n\nThis same workforce is accustomed to the very best in user experience, WhatsApp for messaging, Monzo for banking and AirBnB for holidays.\n\nSo where is the work app?\n\nThatโs what weโre building at Sona. The single app that will deliver a best in class user experience for deskless workers to manage their entire work life.\n\nWeโre still early on in our journey so anyone getting involved has scope to have a huge impact. \n\nWeโve raised a $2.2m pre-seed round from some amazing investors including SpeedInvest and Notion Capital. We have a highly experienced founding team and amazing sales, marketing and customer success people as well as some exceptional engineering and product design talent. \n\n**About the role**\n\nYouโll be working as part of a fully remote, close knit product team. We use Github + ZenHub for code hosting and project management and operate an extremely lightweight sprint based process.\n\nWe like engineers to be heavily involved throughout the product development process, not just in building.\n\nOur stack has two main components:\n\n* A backend with a GraphQL API and web frontend built using Elixir and Phoenix Live View\n* A native mobile application built in React Native + Typescript\n\nWe think in terms of โT Shapedโ developers. This means that while all of us have some ability across the โfull stackโ, most of us have one side of the stack (e.g. Elixir or React Native) weโre stronger on and spend the bulk of our time on.\n\nTypically when somebody starts working with us, they have strong experience with one side of the stack and then learn the other part on the job. \n\n\n**About You**\n\nWe love engineers who have a non nonsense approach to โgetting it shippedโ, who when given the choice between โcomplicated and shinyโ vs โget something simple in front of a userโ will always choose the latter. \n\nEverybodyโs different, but a lot of the following probably applies to you:\n\n* You have extensive professional experience in Elixir or React Native (you don't need both!!)\n* If your experience is in Elixir, youโre happy to talk about OTP, Erlang, Beam and how these relate to each other. Youโve built things using LiveView and are comfortable talking about itโs advantages and challenges. \n* If your experience is in React Native youโre happy to talk about Typescript, the role of generics and when they should be used, what hooks are, how they changed how we build React Native apps and when one should consider writing custom hooks. Youโd be equally happy explaining promises and how they interact with async / await\n* You have a strong preference for over-communication, and take ownership of ensuring you fully understand what youโre working on\n* Youโre in a country which is GMT +/- 3 and fluent communicating both verbally and in writing in English \n\n**How We Work**\n\nWeโre a fully remote team spread across 4 countries (and growing). We have a company stand up most mornings at 10:00 UK time. We aim to have fully paid for company meetups roughly once per quarter. \n\nEverything starts with talking to customers. We like everyone in the company to regularly join either sales calls with new prospects or catch ups with existing customers \n\nWeโre a small company with a strong preference for lightweight, asynchronous processes. Within product we work in sprints with periodic retrospectives.\n\n**Interview Process**\n\nOur interview process follows this pattern:\n\n* Initial phone screen (15-30 minutes) focused primarily on approach to work, career goals and your questions about Sona\n* Technical Interview (1-2 hours) take us through a piece of code you're proud of and talk about how it's architected, what worked well and what you'd do differently if you wrote it again. If you don't have a suitable piece of code, we're also happy to pay you for half a days work to do a take home task. But we understand that everyone's busy so we'd much rather use some code you've already got where possible!\n* Founder Interview (1 hour), focused on why youโre interested in Sona and your questions about the vision\n\n**Benefits**\n\n* Competitive salary\n* Employee share option scheme\n* New M1 Macbook + equipment grant for home office\n* Co-working stipend \n* 4.5 day standard working week (take your half day out when it suits you)\n* Unlimited free books \n\nPlease mention the words **WORLD DIAL HUNT** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xMzc=). **OVERVIEW**\n\nWe're looking for Security Engineers to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will build innovative payments products that delight both engineering and finance teams. As an early member of the engineering team, you will help shape the engineering culture of a fast-growing startup.\n\nThe core platform at Modern Treasury sits between our customers and their banks. In the same way that Twilio abstracted away the complexity of working with communication networks, we have built an easy-to-use, common interface into the banking system. Our customers use our products to do things like move money to or from their users, automate back-office work, and record their transaction ledgers. The companies that can use Modern Treasury move over $750 trillion a year via bank payments, as compared to only $2 trillion per year on card payments.\n\nOur API is often the most critical piece of infrastructure that our customers use. We place a premium on building robust, scalable systems that can sustain a high volume of API calls and exceed the reliability requirements to move money at scale. We complement this with well-thought out interfaces for our users and pride in writing quality API docs.\n\nWe believe in using the best tool for the job, rather than always using open source or building things ourselves. We actively embrace open source in parts of our system but aren't afraid to roll our own solution for things like writing and parsing bank files. We also contribute to open source (for example, https://www.moderntreasury.com/journal/continuous-accounting-building-on-an-open-source-library).\n\nIn addition to our API, we have had a web platform since day 1 that is used by accountants, controllers, and engineers. They use our platform to do things like manage payment workflows and monitor their business. As an engineer, you will work with our product team to build products and features for these users.\n\n**ABOUT MODERN TREASURY**\n\nModern Treasury is payment operations software for businesses with a high volume of transactions or complex payment flows.
