SaneBox is looking for a Remote Full Stack Ruby on Rails Software Engineer to join our mature and profitable company. We need a talented and motivated individual who isn't afraid of tackling and delivering large projects.

Things you will do at SaneBox:

  • Create amazing and well tested new functionality in a large rails app.

  • Help our designers create delightful UIs in AngularJS and React.

  • Tune memory and CPU performance to get the most out of app servers.

  • Write unit tests, functional tests, and integration tests.

  • Have strong opinions on how SaneBox can best work for our customers.

  • Build iOS & Android apps

  • Once you are trained on the systems, everyone on the engineering team takes a shift answering escalated support tickets. Happily, having development engineers interact with customers means resolutions to support issues get automated pretty quickly. And this shift eliminates everyoneโ€™s desire to break stuff.

Things that (hopefully) describe you:

  • MUST Reside somewhere in UTC-3 to UTC-8 (Basically anywhere in the Americas).

  • MUST have significant professional experience with:

    • Ruby & Rails

    • JavaScript (preferably Angular or React frameworks)

    • SQL

  • MUST have knowledge of best-practices and tools used in software development.

  • MUST be fluent in ENGLISHย
  • MUST be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Our release cycle is very short and your first work will be live on our production site within days.

  • Knowledge of Email & IMAP (RFCs 5322 & 3501) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of iOS or Android native app development is a plus.

Benefits

SaneBox offers health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401k contribution to full-time employees based in the US. We are working on providing benefits to employees based elsewhere, but we're not quite there yet!

About SaneBox

Here at SaneBox, we're changing the way people email. Everyday we work to reduce the inefficiencies surrounding email and improve how people communicate with one another through email.ย  This involves a lot of education and a very smart algorithm.

SaneBox filters out and summarizes unimportant emails - not spam, but legitimate messages that just don't deserve to interrupt your day and can be processed later in bulk. We also have a full suite of additional features that help turn anyone from email novice to email superhero.

Please try SaneBox BEFORE you apply. If you don't like the service, you really won't like the job!

We continue to receive lots of great press, including from Business Insider who recent said that our product "is by far the easiest way to fix email overload".ย  Oh yeah, and our customers love us!

Our Team

We are a small, completely distributed engineering team. Everyone is a generalist. This is not your usual Internet company. We sell a real product for a premium price and still get love letters from customers. And we've been doing it since 2010.

The company is not filled with hard drinking, hard playing young people. Mostly we all have kids and spouses and pets and real lives outside work.

Please mention the word ELAN when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xODA=). This is a feature to avoid fake spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and instantly see they're human.

Remote Frontend Engineer

About Levity ๐Ÿงžโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Levity is a well-funded, early-stage software startup on a mission: We give users the simplest AI development experience in the world and let them automate mindless, repetitive work that can currently only be performed by humans.

We believe that AI offers tremendous benefits for all kinds of companies and that its use will become inevitable to succeed in global, competitive markets. With our platform, we allow innovators to build custom AI solutions, based on their company-specific data and use cases, without the need to write a single line of code. Our ambition is to build a best-in-class product to scale the Product-Led Growth SaaS company that Levity is.

The role ๐ŸŽฏ

We are looking for an experienced Frontend Engineer to help us grow the organization throughout our next phase of growth. You'll play a crucial role in developing the simplistic, design-driven frontend that powers our AI-powered workflow automation solution. You'll closely collaborate with our whole engineering and design team to drive forward fast-paced development cycles. We're excited to work with someone who is highly motivated, comfortable in a fast-paced start-up environment and is happy to work with a remote team.

Your challenge ๐Ÿฅ‡

We are looking for someone who makes things happen. Building on initial traction with customers, we are entering a rapid scaling phase. Now is the time to double down on our product development efforts to serve a broad range of global customers.

  • Work closely with designers and other engineers, teaming up in small cross-functional teams to bring features from idea to prototype to final implementation
  • You will work on high impact features of our web application that are core to the end user experience
  • Collaborate with other frontend engineers and the design team on our in-house design system
  • Review the work of your teammates and support them
  • Work on any initiative you feel passionate about - especially if it moves the needle for our product and/or development efforts

Sounds like you? ๐Ÿ™Œ

  • You have 3+ years of professional experience as a frontend engineer
  • You've worked on Single Page Applications built with React, Angular, Vue or similar
  • You enjoy working on complex problems and breaking them down into smaller pieces
  • You have excellent communication skills and the willingness to share and teach
  • You have the ability to deal with the fast pace and ambiguity of a startup. Things change and sometimes you need to develop expertise as you go.
  • Previous experience with GraphQL, Tailwind and TypeScript would be a plus

Perks ๐ŸŽฎ

  • Competitive salary + equity package
  • High-end equipment of your choice
  • Beautiful and central Berlin office
  • Paid offsites/workations twice a year
  • Ownership from day 1
  • Dynamic team and flat hierarchies

Why Levity? ๐Ÿš€

**Founding Frontend Developer**  \n$80k - $110k + equity\n\n**About You**\n\nAfter closing our most recent round of Angel financing, we are looking for a Frontend Developer to accelerate our product objectives as we scale and push towards a $2M raise target. You will be one of our first full-time engineering hires, working alongside our CTO as a founding team member.\n\nWith a total addressable market of $2.3B, a solution that is vertically scalable across other industries, and a paid subscriber base that is growing fast - our first engineering hires have a unique opportunity to get in at the ground floor of an exciting startup with a generous equity package, and upward salary and career potential.\n\nWhether you are a veteran software engineer with 10+ years experience or a recent college grad with some professional experience under your belt, we are looking for someone who believes in our vision and is excited to work at an early stage startup. If you enjoy thinking creatively about new challenges, having a direct impact on the user, and are looking for new opportunities every day, then you will love being a part of this team.\n\n*Responsibilities*\n* Build out new screens and features per the product roadmap\n* Fix bugs by identifying the root cause and improving overall code quality\n* Translate feedback from focus groups, 1:1 user interviews, and product surveys into features that will directly impact the user\n* Work closely with the CTO on product direction, architectural decisions, and technical issues\n\n*Required Qualifications*\n* Bachelor's degree or better in Computer Science (or SE/HCI/Math/etc.)\n* 2-10+ years professional experience in front-end web development (HTML/CSS/Javascript), with strong javascript & typescript fundamentals\n\n*Preferred Qualifications*\n* Angular 2+ experience (or desire to learn)\n* Ionic/Capacitor experience (or desire to learn)\n* Experience with responsive web/mobile UI\n* Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and an eye for aesthetics and beautiful design\n\n*Nice to Have*\n* Mobile/hybrid app development experience (Android/iOS)\n* Node.js / NestJS\n* SQL\n* AWS\n\n*Benefits*\n* Second full-time engineering hire with growth potential\n* Salary + competitive equity package depending on experience\n* Medical and dental coverage\n* Generous and flexible PTO\n* 100% remote with flexible work hours\n\n**Tech Stack**\n\nWe use the Ionic/Capacitor framework to deploy one code base (coded in Angular/Typescript) to Android, iOS, and the web browser, with node.js / nest.js running the API on the backend. All of our services are hosted on AWS with automated deployments straight from Github using Github actions (mobile app releases have to be submitted to app stores for approval).\n\nOur design team produces high fidelity sketches in Figma, using Zeplin to produce precise CSS, and creates svg icons and image assets ready for dev use.\n\nDev tickets and product roadmap are prioritized and tracked in Clickup (our ticketing system).\n\nWe chat asynchronously on Slack and use the Google suite for meetings, email, calendars, etc.\n\n**Our Values**\n\n* We believe in hiring a small team of trusted developers who value individual autonomy, ownership and responsibility.\n\n* We value knowledge of engineering fundamentals, learning on the job, and working hard in a startup environment more than years of experience with a particular framework.\n\n* We believe in separation of concerns and building microservices rather than monolithic frameworks.\n\n* We value writing clean, high quality code and doing thorough code review rather than relying on extensive unit testing.\n\n* We value continuously pushing results out to our users moreso than following a rigid methodology.\n\nWe are dedicated to building a world-class engineering team at Biteline. We value continuously learning and perfecting our craft, sharing knowledge, and holding ourselves and each other to the highest possible standards. You will grow as a developer and be proud of your work here, and be proud to be a part of this team.\n\n**About Biteline**\n\nDid you know? A single dental office wastes over $25,000 each year on staffing and hiring for their practice. That amounts to a $4.5B hiring problem in the $140B dental industry.\n\nThese local businesses and healthcare providers are struggling not only to hire full or part-time professional staff, but are also in frequent need for short term, per diem temporary staff, presenting a unique staffing challenge.\n\nBiteline is a peer-to-peer professional community that connects local practices and professionals. Our platform not only makes hiring for temporary positions fast and safe, but provides an online home for dental pros to house and advance their careers.\n\nAs we grow, weโ€™re looking to increase user engagement through additional features like robust networking, local events, community forums, buy/sell/trade marketplaces for equipment or supplies, continuing education offerings, and so much more. \n\nPlease mention the words **MARBLE REMEMBER CUP** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xODA=). **$120k/year. 100% remote. Flexible schedule.**\n\nSoflyy is seeking an experienced full stack engineer to help us build the next iteration of our state-of-the-art drag & drop website builder for WordPress.\n\nYou can do l33tcode? More power to you. But we donโ€™t care. \n\n**We are looking for people that can craft quality software.**\n\nOn top of software engineering abilities, here's what we care about:\n - UI / UX\n - Ability to design solutions that are good both from a technical standpoint and from a user standpoint - i.e. clean code, good architecture, good UI/UX\n - Ability to take on a product ownership role - we say "build feature X" and give you wide latitude to build whatever you feel is best, and you bring us a kick-ass version of feature X \n\nAs a fully-remote team, we don't care what time zone you're in or at what times you're working. We only care about the quality of your work. We keep meetings and chat to the absolute minimum to foster focus-time.\n\nYou'll spend a lot of time in Vue (with TypeScript and Vuex), but you're also expected to work with WordPress APIs and PHP. We do E2E testing with Cypress, and integration and unit tests with Jest.\n\nKnowledge of Vue is a plus, but if you're experienced with React jumping ship is easy enough - weโ€™ve done it, and our codebase follows best-practices to make it easy to understand everything.\n\nYou're expected to be self driven, solve problem and make decisions on your own. We trust you to create the best product you can (you can always ask for help though!).\n\nWe consider good communication skills very important because of the above.\n\n**Our stack:**\n - Vue (w/ Vuetify and Vuex)\n - PHP\n - WordPress\n - TypeScript (strict mode, 100% coverage)\n - Psalm (static analysis for PHP, similar to TypeScript)\n - Cypress / Jest\n - GitHub\n\n**Requirements**\n\nMust haves:\n - Vue / React / Angular experience\n - PHP experience\n - All the other usual stuff (knowledge of Git & CSS, common sense, etc.)\n\nNice to have:\n - An eye for design\n - TypeScript experience is a plus\n - WordPress experience is a plus\n - Knowledge of testing modern apps is a plus\n\n**How We Work**\n\nYouโ€™ll be working closely with the founder (me, Louis), three other senior engineers, and one designer.\n\nEverything is async. We avoid meetings and interruptions.\n\nWe use GitHub and Basecamp to track tasks and monitor progress. Instead of a daily standup, everyone posts progress updates in Basecamp. A list of GitHub issues will be assigned to you, and youโ€™ll implement the fixes and features in them and then submit a PR, which will be reviewed by one of the other engineers or the founder.\n\nVery occasionally weโ€™ll do a Zoom call to go over something, but thatโ€™s rare (think 1 or 2 per month).\n\nIn the beginning, weโ€™re happy to do as many Zoom calls as you want to get you onboarded and up to speed.\n\nItโ€™s very easy to get started and youโ€™ll be shipping features in no time. The last two engineers we hired did less than one day of onboarding on Zoom, and were shipping significant features at the end of their first week.\n\nOur code base is high quality and very well-architected. We have CI, automated testing, TypeScript on strict mode, types on our PHP, etc.\n\n**What We Offer**\n - $120,000k/year\n - Fully remote\n - No scheduling requirements - you can work whenever you want\n - A work environment free from politics / meetings / interruptions / bs\n - No overtime / crunch time / rushing / stress. We are a calm company: https://basecamp.com/books/calm\n - $2k/year learning materials budget\n\n**Interview Process**\n\nEmail Louis (the founder): [email protected].\n\nIf you sound like a good fit, weโ€™ll schedule a short interview (~1 hour on Zoom) where weโ€™ll have a conversation and ask some questions to get a sense of your software engineering abilities and experience. And of course weโ€™re happy to answer any questions you have about us.\n\nYou will be asked a few coding questions. If you are proficient in JavaScript and PHP, youโ€™ll know the answers. There are no algorithms/leetcode questions. The questions touch on practical and common tasks, such as working with arrays.\n\nWe are expecting to make a hiring decision in the next ~3 weeks. We are flexible, and are happy to give you some time to wind things down at your current position if necessary. \n\nPlease mention the words **OLIVE SUGGEST PAYMENT** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xODA=). This is a feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n $120,000 — $120,000/year\n

**About Us**\n\nAt [Close](https://close.com), we're building the sales communication platform of the future. With our roots as the very first sales CRM to include built-in calling, we're leading the industry toward eliminating manual processes and helping companies to close more deals (faster). Since our founding in 2013, we've grown to become a profitable, 100% globally distributed team of 43 high-performing, happy people that are dedicated to building a product our customers love.\n\nOur appโ€™s frontend is a single-page JavaScript web app mostly written in React (originally built with Backbone.js). We bundle with Webpack and target only modern browsers. We test with Jest and React Testing Library. Our UI updates in near real-time and is written in LESS/CSS (with flexbox and grid layout) using CSS modules and takes advantage of fun technologies like Websockets and WebRTC. \n\nWe care about performance (e.g. route-based code splitting), maintainability, and testability of our frontend code. We sweat the UI/UX details and work collaboratively with the Product team throughout the design process. This means diving into lo-fi Freehand wireframes, and communicating continuously when those ideas are brought to life using Figma and code.\n\nOur frontend app is built on top of our REST API & GraphQL endpoints. Our backend [tech stack](https://stackshare.io/close-crm/close) consists of Python/Flask, MongoDB, Postgres, Elasticsearch, and Redis. We run our services in Docker on AWS.\n\nWe โค๏ธ open source โ€“ using dozens of open source projects with contributions to many of them, and released some of our own like [react-custom-scroller](https://making.close.com/posts/introducting-react-custom-scroller-component), [use-infinite-scroll](https://making.close.com/posts/introducting-use-infinite-scroll-react-hook), [use-abortable-effect](https://making.close.com/posts/introducting-use-abortable-effect-react-hook), [backbone-testing-library](https://github.com/closeio/backbone-testing-library), [smart-tooltip-delay](https://making.close.com/posts/introducing-smart-tooltip-delay-library), [Microphone Recorder to Mp3](https://github.com/closeio/mic-recorder-to-mp3), [filevalidator.js](https://github.com/closeio/filevalidator.js), [addresscompiler](https://github.com/closeio/addresscompiler), [backbone.mousetrap](https://github.com/closeio/backbone.mousetrap), and more at https://github.com/closeio.\n\n**About You**\n\nWe're looking for an experienced full-time (or part-time) Frontend Software Engineer to join our engineering team. Someone who has a solid understanding of web technologies and wants to help design, implement, and launch major user-facing features.\n\nYou should have senior level experience(~5 years) building modern frontend applications in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with at least 3 years of that experience using React.\n\nYou should have significant experience designing, debugging, and optimizing frontend applications to make them fast and reliable. You have significant experience with REST APIs and thoroughly understand HTTP requests. You have experience participating in code reviews and providing overall code quality suggestions to help maintain the structure and quality of the codebase.\n\nYou should have great product sense and be able to think through user experience issues before diving into the code, and you exhibit a love for great UI.\n\nYouโ€™re comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a small and talented team where you're supported in your efforts to grow professionally. You are able to manage your time well, communicate effectively and collaborate in a fully distributed team.\n\nYou are located in an American or European time zone.\n\n**Bonus points if you have:**\n\n* Experience implementing real-time (e.g. websockets, polling, etc.) web apps\n* Experience working with GraphQL endpoints\n* An eye for design and experience with Figma, Sketch, Abstract, Photoshop, or similar\n* Led small project teams building and launching features\n* Contributed open source code (core or plugins) for a popular frontend framework such as React, Vue, or Angular\n* Built B2B SaaS products\n* Experience with sales or sales tools\n\n**Come help us with projects like:**\n\n* Conceiving, designing, building, and launching new user-facing features\n* Working with Twilio's API, WebSockets, and WebRTC to improve our [calling features](https://close.com/calling/)\n* Building user-facing analytics features that provide actionable insights based on sales activity data\n* Improving real-time collaboration user experience\n* Expanding our frontend GraphQL usage\n* Extending our React component library\n\n**Why work with us?**\n\n* [Culture video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbyGnLhtj0o&feature=youtu.be) ๐Ÿ’š\n* 100% remote-first company (we believe in trust and autonomy)\n* 2 x annual team retreats โœˆ๏ธ ([Lisbon Retreat Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKjyXMz-q-Q)) - when travel is appropriate\n* 4 x quarterly virtual summits\n* 7 weeks PTO (includes company-wide winter holiday break)\n* 1 month paid sabbatical after 5 years\n* $200/month coworking stipend\n* Revenue Share (after 1 year) \n* Paid parental leave (10 wks primary caregiver / 4 wks secondary caregiver)\n* 99% premiums paid for excellent medical and dental coverage, including an HSA option (US residents)\n* 401k matching at 6% (US residents)\n* Dependent care FSA (US residents)\n* [Our story and team](https://close.com/about/) ๐Ÿš€\n\nWe are a small team doing great things - every role is critical to the success of this company. People that are most successful at Close have a resourceful, โ€œdoerโ€ approach and mentality. We focus on productivity, impact and quality of work. Weโ€™re looking for team members that genuinely understand the nature of being part of a small team that operates in a bootstrapped / start-up-like environment. \n\nAt Close, everyone has a voice. We encourage transparency and practicing a mature approach to the work-place. In general, we donโ€™t have strict policies, we have guidelines. Life-work harmony is an important part of our organization - we believe you bring your best to work when you practice self-care (whatever that looks like for you). \n\nWe come from 12 countries and 16 states; a collection of talented humans rich in diverse backgrounds, lifestyles, and cultures. Twice a year we meet up somewhere around the world to spend time with one another (however weโ€™re opting for quarterly virtual summits during 2020/2021). We see these retreats as an opportunity to strengthen the social fiber of our community. This team is growing in more ways than one - weโ€™ve recently launched 14 babies (and counting!). \n\nUnanimously, our favorite and most impactful value is โ€œBuild a house you want to live in.โ€ We strive to make decisions that are authentic for our organization. At Close, we have a high care factor for one another, in making an awesome product and championing the success of our customers. \n\nPlease mention the words **WORK MANDATE SHOP** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xODA=). ๐Ÿ‘‰ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!

When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site.
