Our remote Senior Back-End Software Engineers use their Magento 2 expertise to build and maintain interactive eCommerce stores for our clients. They work with our Project Managers and other engineers to deliver high-quality websites. They bring their platform expertise to solve challenging client needs on a daily basis.

Core Responsibilities:

• Writing clean, reliable, adequately tested code.

• Properly submits pull requests with code fulfilling a ticket's acceptance criteria.

• Communicate any blockers, progress, and statuses regarding a ticket.

• Uses best practices regarding accessibility, site performance, & SEO.

• Uses HTML, CSS, JS to create Magento elements matching client-approved designs and functionality.

• Creates test cases for completed work to pass on to QA.

A great Sr. Software Engineer candidate will bring a blend of the following technical experience and professional skills to this opportunity:

Relevant Experience: 

• 2+ years of experience working with Magento 2

• 4+ years of experience with PHP

• 4+ years of experience with SQL

• 2+ years of experience in API integrations.

• Familiarity with using Git to create branches and push new code changes and can create pull requests for the technical lead to code review.

• Demonstrates a proven track record of following through with deadlines and keeping on top of new tasks.

• Ability to develop for a myriad of devices with differing screen sizes and resolutions.

• Understanding of web standards and accessibility, and experience building stateful web applications with client-side technologies.

Our remote Tech Leads are in charge of scoping, estimating, and providing those solutions and fill a vital role in helping in architecting technical requirements, estimating tickets, performing code reviews, handling escalations, and serving as experts in all things Magento.

Core Responsibilities

Below are some of the core responsibilities our Tech Leads have:

• Ready to lead a team of developers by adding technical details to tickets, architecting solutions, and estimating new or future work.
• Managing a daily flow of work and delegating work to other team members appropriately.
• Mentoring and teaching junior team members on topics related to Magento development.
• Handling escalations of senior to mid-level of difficulty regarding any aspect of Magento issues and frontend issues with HTML, CSS.
• Reviewing junior developers and promoting good development practices.

Relevant Experience 

Below are some of the relevant experiences that would make someone a good fit for this role:

• Experience leading a development team of 4 or more people, demonstrating strong communication skills.
• Mastery of all things Magento, including module installation and configuration, adding custom functionality, server configuration, and Magento Cloud experience.
• Background in software engineering, object-oriented programming, database management, preferably on a LAMP stack.
• Experience with DevOps-related processes and tools such as Git/SVN, CI/CD, Docker, Jenkins, Git hooks, BitBucket Pipelines, EC2/RDS server configuration, etc.
• Experience integrating with external web services, like SOAP, REST, or Graph QL APIs, is recommended.
• Comfort using software development management tools like the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, etc.) or a similar set of applications.

Credentials

Success as a Tech Lead at Trellis requires a mastery of JIRA and Magento. As such, we’re looking for candidates that either already possesses or could obtain both their “JIRA Essentials” certification and “Adobe Certified Expert - Magento Commerce Developer” certification within the first three months of their time at Trellis. Given the importance we place on this, we cover all costs related to training and the certification as well as offer a bonus upon obtaining the certification. While not required, a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field of study is preferred.
