Make a difference in the lives of 1,000s of ethical hackers by designing and building the tools they need.

First, please readย The Unnecessary Fragmentation of Design Jobs, and if it resonates with you, keep going; we might be on to something!

Product designers at Security Roots are always working on different things. You may be working on polishing up an existing feature, implementing a design with HTML/CSS, pitching something brand new, or fundamentally rethinking how we do something.

Our tool, Dradis Framework, is used by 1,000s of hacking experts in 44 countries around the world. We're looking for folks who like to solve problems and build a business and product that people genuinely love to interact with.

We're small, self-funded, profitable, and have beenย in business for 12 years.

What's the opportunity?

We're looking to hire ourย 10th full-time employee, a well-rounded Product Designer.

In this role, you will learn a ton and be part of a small, global, and user-centered company. You'll have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of 100s of ethical hackers. Plus, as a small team, you will have a lot of choice about what to work on, and there are still a lot of untapped opportunities for you to grow as the company does.

What we offer and what we are looking for:

You'll be a trusted and key member of our team, and this is (some of) what you'll end up doing on a day-to-day basis:

  • Pitching and designing new features to improve the experience for our users.
  • Implementing your designs in code, while working closely with the rest of our team. You must write well-structured HTML/CSS.
  • Discovering opportunities to enhance and improve our design & development process.
  • Improving our existing products and internal systems. We want to learn from you as you learn from us.
  • Prioritizing and deciding what features we should tackle next.

Our stack:

  • Rails 6 (although we started with Rails 1.2 in 2007)
  • Javascript, Stimulus, CoffeeScript, and jQuery
  • Sass and Bootstrap
  • Postgres and MySQL
  • Sinatra, Resque, Middlemanapp, Chef, Vagrant, Nginx, Unicorn,...

We're looking for a solid Product Designer with ยซadequateยป experience who is comfortable in a 100% distributed team and is self-driven.

This is a full-time position for the right candidate and it has an immediate start date.ย Work 100% remotelyย on a flexible schedule withย reasonable overlap with EU business hours.

About you

Ideally, you've held a remote position before, or you've held a similar position of responsibility in a traditional organization but now are looking to improve your work-life balance.

You are a well-rounded individual, work is not everything in life, you may have a family and social life. You work hard when it's work time and areย able to switch offย when it isn't.

You don't think of yourself as a "UI Designer", or a "Web Designer" or a "Front End developer". You're an individual that can bring it together. Someone who loves Getting Real.

You must write well-structured HTML/CSS. Basic Javascript or Rails skills are a plus, but not required. A background in Information Security wouldn't hurt either.

You're comfortable communicating with others verbally and in writing.ย Our team is spread across the world, and so are our users.

You are organized, like to be on top of your responsibilities, and don't let things slip through the cracks. You will be sure to include the name of your favorite tv series as part of your application.

You believe in giving back to the community.ย We startedย with an open-source project and to this day we remain firm believers of open-source and giving back. A lot of what you will be creating with the team will be released as open-source.

Benefits of working with us

  • Work anywhereย - We're 100% remote.
  • Flexible work hoursย - Provided you have reasonable overlap with the team (roughly within US/EU business hours).
  • Great salaryย - You will be making more than others in your region.
  • Flexible vacationย - Take time off when you need it, we trust you (no less than 4 weeks each year).
  • No external pressuresย - Our users are king, we do what's best for them. We're self-funded, and don't have any investors, so we can make the right decisions for our customers without worrying about artificial deadlines or financial targets.
  • Autonomyย - You will be given a lot of freedom to do what you think is right, without needing to explain every decision.
  • Meaningful workย - You will take initiative and ownership to see things through to completion. We won't micro-manage you. And your work will be measured by your results.
  • You'll be working in the two greatest markets in the world these days...ย Softwareย &ย Security.
  • You will have great hardware and tools to work with.

About Gruntwork

Gruntwork aims to improve humanity's most important invention: Software. Our focus today is on creating a DevOps UX that software engineers actually enjoy, which we do by creating building blocks that make launching in the cloud 10x better/faster/easier. We work with AWS, K8s, Terraform, Terragrunt, Terratest, Go, Typescript, and React, and introduce new tech as needed. Weโ€™re a small team (~20 people), but our clients include Toyota, Adobe, TicketMaster, Verizon, and hundreds of startups.

We are profitable, self-funded (no investors, no debt), and pay salaries, equity, and bonuses according to transparent formulas. We are 100% remote, with 2/3 of our team in the USA and 1/3 in Europe. We plan company-wide in-person meetups every few months and are known world-wide for both DevOps thought leadership and our popular open source tools, Terragrunt and Terratest.

Our measure of a successful Grunt is (1) think like an owner, (2) make impact, (3) communicate effectively, (4) be a good person. If this sounds like you, we're hiring!

About The Role

Our infrastructure as code library and platform team delivers an end-to-end, best-practices infrastructure on AWS in just days, all as a product. In this role, youโ€™ll collaborate with other senior-level engineers to define the next generation of AWS and DevOps best practices, codify them for use by thousands of engineers, and design a next-level experience for implementing, operating and understanding them.

What You'll Work On

  • Build a better DevOps experience.ย We have a unique product that generates complete, multi-account AWS architectures for Terraform and Terragrunt in just a few hours using a collection of internal Golang tools. Help us take this to the next level by using that product to deliver prod architectures directly to customers, and then leveraging their feedback for improvements. Better yet, help us get to the point where the entire experience is completely automated or self-service.
  • Codify AWS and Terraform best practices.ย Customers look to Gruntwork to share the best way to launch on AWS. Discover AWS and Terraform best practices, and then codify them as repeatable patterns that Gruntwork customers can pull off the shelf.
  • Integrate with the Gruntwork platform.ย Integrate your product work with our company-wide platform, which consists of a REST API (Next.js/Typescript), a web-based single-page app (Next.js/React/Typescript, Tailwind), and a first-class CLI tool (Go).
  • Build out the Infrastructure as Code Library.ย Create and maintain reusable infrastructure modules for a variety of infrastructure (e.g., EKS, ECS, RDS, VPC, Lambda, EC2, S3, ElastiCache, etc.), using a variety of tools (e.g., Terraform, Go, Python, Bash, Docker, Packer, etc.) on AWS.
  • Contribute to open source.ย Contribute to our open source projects as needed, including Terragrunt, Terratest, cloud-nuke, bash-commons, and more.
  • Train and mentor.ย Play to your strengths and areas of expertise by not only writing code and working on the product but also by sharing knowledge and mentoring both other team members and our customers in those areas.
  • Support customers.ย Gruntwork is a small, distributed, self-funded, profitable startup, so we'll ask you to provide a limited amount of support to enable learning directly from customers about how we can improve and continue achieving our vision of making it easier to understand, build, and deploy software.

Your Ideal Background

You should meet some of these requirements, but you don't need to meet all of them. As a company, we look for people who can leverage their existing skills to make significant impact in the near term. As an individual, you are likely looking for a growth opportunity, a core part of which is building new skills.

  • You know how to write code across the stack and have experience in one or more of the following: Go, C++, Python, Typescript, Bash, React, Next.js
  • You have production-level experience with AWS.
  • You have expertise in one or more of the following: Kubernetes (any managed offering, preferably EKS), ECS<, EC2, Lambda / Serverless, API Gateway, RDS, S3, AWS Config, AWS CloudTrail, Amazon GuardDuty, IAM, VPC, VPN.
  • You have worked with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools like CloudFormation, CDK, or Pulumi in prod.
  • You have experience achieving compliance and going through audits (e.g., SOC2, HIPAA, vendor, etc).
  • You have a strong background in software engineering.
  • You have strong communication skills in English and are comfortable engaging with external customers.

Your Ideal Values

  • You have a passion for imparting best practices to other developers.
  • But you would rather invest the time to automate a problem than do the same work again.
  • You have a passion for learning (new technologies and languages specifically).
  • But you are motivated most by making impact.
  • You are inspired by our values (https://gruntwork.io/about/#our-values).

Compatible Time Zones

You'll be working with a team in theย US time zones, so you can be located in almost any country as long as your time zone is no further west than Los Angeles (GMT-8/GMT-7) and no further east than New York (GMT-5/GMT-4). We've found that when everyone on the team is located in similar time zones, it's easier to collaborate and there's much less pressure to stay up late or get up early, so this is a hard constraint, even if you're willing to work hours different from your current time zone.

Benefits

Our benefits reflect our values. We believe compensation should be fair, transparent, and generous. We hire Grunts in many countries, so some details may vary.

  • Location Independent, Above-Market Salary.ย To reduce bias and increase transparency, we compute all salaries using formulas. The formula factors in your title and uses a multiplier to produce a result that's above market for that title. Our salaries are location independent.
  • Profit-Sharing Bonus.ย We set aside a pot of money at the end of each year based on profits and distribute bonuses according to a formula that uses as inputs your level within the company and the length of your tenure at the company.
  • Hardware Budget.ย We'll buy you a brand new 16" Apple MacBook Pro (or other computer of your choosing of equivalent value) upon joining. It will be owned by you, not the company.
  • Personal Budget.ย We'll give you a personal budget of $1,000 USD per month to spend on your workspace (e.g., a co-working space), health (e.g., gym, yoga), time (e.g., babysitter), and/or learning (e.g., books, courses).
  • Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance.ย We offer a range of high-quality plans with a large portion paid by the company. For countries other than the US, this includes extra coverage on top of your statutory insurance.

In addition to the global benefits listed above, we have some US-specific benefits as well:

  • FSA and HSAs.ย We don't contribute to these accounts, but we do offer them as an option.
  • 401(k).ย We contribute a portion of your salary to your 401(k).
  • Disability insurance.ย If you get disabled, we have a policy that will pay out a portion of your salary.

Life First, Then Work

We believe in planning our work around our lives, not the other way around. To help achieve that we offer:

  • Remote workย that lets you control your hours and physical location.
  • Normal working hoursย that usually amount to not more than ~40h per week, and no working on weekends or holidays.
  • Deliberate project planningย that takes into account the time zone of all team members.
  • A minimum vacation policyย where you must takeย at leastย 4 weeks per year away from work.
  • No one carrying a pagerย and no on-call rotation. We enable this by only offering support contracts with SLAs of responses on business days / hours only.

โ—ย ย ย ย ย ย  Flexible work hours, you get to plan your own schedule and work whenever you want

โ—‹ย ย ย ย ย ย  We're open to changes, you have a voice in how things get done

โ—ย ย ย ย ย ย  Your monthly pay is paid biweekly (Youโ€™re paid every two weeks)

โ—ย ย ย ย ย ย  We'll pay for all your software needs that relate to your work (IDE/Coding tools, SnagIt, VPN, etc.). Usually, we provide license (serial) keys.

โ—‹ย ย ย ย ย ย  Weโ€™ll cover monthly membership and/or day passes for co-working spaces

โ—‹ย ย ย ย ย ย  Weโ€™ll cover all your coffee purchases for the day in coffee shops

โ—ย ย ย ย ย ย  We give you a day off for your birthday! You get to stay in bed or hang with loved ones.

โ—ย ย ย ย ย ย  Paid company retreats

โ—ย ย ย ย ย ย  21 days of paid time off every year

โ—ย ย ย ย ย ย  Your work with a great, talented team that produces a high-growth work environment (we move fast)

โ—ย ย ย ย ย ย  Opportunity to move up in the company, and earn higher pay and bonuses

A typical workweek (example)

โ—ย ย ย ย ย ย  Every Monday, we have a one-on-one Zoom meeting to discuss our goals, whether you are meeting your goals, what went well, what did not go well, and so on.

โ—ย ย ย ย ย ย  You have one or multiple projects to complete. You can work on them whenever and however you want without being micromanaged. However, you must be able to meet the deadline and be accountable for the quality of the end solution.

โ—‹ย ย ย ย ย ย  Youโ€™re also responsible for maintaining the Github repository of the project youโ€™re working on, committing/pushing/documenting your changes, commenting on your code, and writing SOPs or technical documentation (if necessary). It doesnโ€™t have to be pages long and can be very short and concise. But, as a developer, it makes life so much easier if you can return to your code in the future without having to think too hard about what you did. This is also about being considerate of your teammates' time.

โ—ย ย ย ย ย ย  There must be some overlap in our working hours so you can respond to urgent requests (if any) or chat with your manager or any of our departments on demand if they have an IT question. This means that some extra tasks may arise during the week.

โ—‹ย ย ย ย ย ย  You might have a day where one of our team members needs something urgent and needs it done the same or the next day, which can be valuable to the company, or a major issue needs to be fixed ASAP, in which case you might have to drop what you're working on and work on that or troubleshoot the entire day. If your main project's deadline cannot be met because of this (which is understandable), you should be able to communicate this on time.

โ—‹ย ย ย ย ย ย  However, most of the time you are able to work on your main projects in solitary. We understand that developers need complete focus. You can also chat and ask questions in our Slack channels.

โ—ย ย ย ย ย ย  You might get stuck in programming and need help, or some development processes may need to be explained. If it cannot be explained/resolved via chat or video, screen-sharing calls can be scheduled throughout the week.

The team (and our work culture)

Youโ€™ll get to be part of a 100% remote company consisting of a diverse group of 95 talented individuals from all over the world. The people you will find on the team are veterinarians, marketers, content writers, editors, social media managers, graphics designers, content managers, and a lot more.

And youโ€™ll get to join us on our united mission of improving the lives of pets and those who care for them. We dream big, and our vision is to become the biggest, most helpful pet company in the world.

Youโ€™ll get to be part of a company thatโ€™s undergoing hyper-growth, and the fast-paced work environment that comes with it.

And weโ€™ve managed to grow at a healthy pace without ever sacrificing our culture and values.

Our company culture is focused on work and collaboration, but also while being open to the casual humor and chatter that makes us get to know each other.

We work hard, and you may have to work on the weekend every now and then if you have a lot on your plate. However, we have a huge understanding of the importance of time off, and we encourage each other to take time off.

A lot of us love traveling, and therefore, we plan on doing yearly company retreats, where we all meet up together and have fun.

We value the freedom of being able to work from anywhere, trust, and collaboration.

VPD is hiring a remote full-stack engineer to help develop and implement our groundbreaking cloud solution, contributing across all aspects of our app, its data, architecture and deployment.

Weโ€™re a well-funded scaleup (no VC money) with big plans to revolutionise legal pricing: our software aims to bring an end to law firms overcharging clients, arbitrary pricing, and other bad practices that have existed for years.

Our two directors are recognised world authorities in this domain, we are recognised suppliers to Thomson Reuters and Aderant Legal Software. We've successfully onboarded one of the world's largest legal teams and we're now busy preparing to deploy to some of the top 100 law firms in the UK and abroad.

Our app is powered by React, with Apollo Client for its GraphQL queries and mutations. It leverages Ant Design as the UI framework, upon which we build a mixture of UI components; some simple, some complex.ย

On the back-end, we're using PostgreSQL as our RDS, TypeORM as our ORM, TypeGraphQL to define the API schema, and Apollo Server to deliver the GraphQL.

Both our front and back ends are coded in TypeScript. We believe in end-to-end testing and have therefore used Playwright to handle an automated E2E test script which runs before deployments.

The work is varied, challenging, and we place equal emphasis on front and back-end; we need to deliver scheduled features, fix bugs, and respond to the needs of newly onboarded firms.

Qualities and skills soughtย

  • A good technical understanding of software engineering principlesย
  • Adept with React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL and GraphQL
  • Proficient with SQL, TypeORM or similar
  • An interest in upholding data security principles and helping us choose and implement effective application architectures
  • Ability to unpack complex requirements
  • A collaborative, adaptable, user-centred approach

You may also bring - or like to learn within the role

Ant Design | TypeORM | TypeGraphQL | Apollo Client | Apollo Server | Java | CircleCI | Heroku | Auth0 | AWS | TDD | Agile | Domain-driven design (DDD) | data modelling | integration patterns

Salary and benefits

  • ยฃ70,000 - ยฃ90,000 - reviewed at six months - we're keeping an open mind
  • Share scheme for formative team members (once proven value to the business)
  • 25 days holiday, plus public holidays and a day for your birthday
  • Flexible working practices - tell us what you need
  • Personal development plan that you can shape, with budget for related training/certifications

SessionLab is the leading platform for workshop facilitation and process design. Our mission is to empower people to create change. We do that by building technology that enables better facilitation. More than 100.000 professionals are using our Software-as-a-Service product to design and deliver meaningful workshops.

We are looking for a senior full-stack developer with frontend-focused experience to help us scale our platform and deliver more value to our customers.

Youโ€™ll be our fourth developer, working closely with our Tech Lead and other developers, as well as our designer and product manager. Youโ€™ll build new and exciting features, improve platform security and maintain the stability of our infrastructure. You will have a chance to work on and influence our whole stack, with an initial focus on the front end.

We are a bootstrapped and profitable software business, headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia, and working across Europe with a fully remote 10-person team (team members currently in Sweden, Hungary, Croatia, UK, Austria, Portugal, and Italy). Therefore, we are looking for somebody who is self-motivated, independent, and comfortable working in a remote-first environment.

What we are looking for

  • You have deep React knowledge and experience.

  • You excel at CSS and enjoy developing Design Systems.

  • You have experience with building REST APIs (ours is built on Rails).

  • You are comfortable building full-stack features from scratch.

  • You are comfortable working in a small startup where cross-discipline work is encouraged.

  • You are good at problem-solving critical production issues in a timely manner.

  • You seek to take on responsibilities and take ownership of the work you do.

  • You thrive working independently, but also enjoy collaborating with people from different disciplines and you always try to look at the big picture.

  • Experience working remotely.

  • You are based within UTC-8 and UTC+3 and have a few work hours overlap with 8 am to 3 pm UTC

Advantages (not a must but a big plus)

  • Experience with technologies in our stack (Mobx, Rails, Webpack, PostgreSQL, Pusher).

  • Experience with UX/UI design and prototyping.

  • Experience in working on real-time sync in collaborative applications.

  • Experience in scaling web applications and optimizing frontend code.

  • Experience with workflow tools (Github Actions, Sentry, Mixpanel, Jira).

  • Experience with deploying production grade systems on Amazon Web Services (EC2, CloudFront, S3).

  • Contribution to open source projects.

  • Experience with maintaining WordPress.

What will I be doing?

To give you an honest perspective of where we are now: we have a stable application and infrastructure with a relatively up-to-date codebase and an extensive customer-driven roadmap of new features and improvements we want to bring to the app.

This is where you come into the picture: we need somebody who can work full-time on bringing new features and improvements to the app.

In more practical terms:

  • Building new features that have frontend or full-stack requirements.

  • Work with our designer to define and maintain a consistent Design System.

  • Debugging production-related issues.

  • Improve front-end performance.

  • Working with our designer to provide technical input on new designs.

  • Working with the Tech Lead and the other developers to improve the developer experience.

  • Scaling the infrastructure.

Why is this great for me?

  • Opportunity to get involved early in building and scaling a product in a fast-growing market.

  • Your role and responsibility will grow as our company grows.

  • Work remotely and create your own schedule (we believe in trust and autonomy).

  • A stable working environment that values work-life balance.

  • Motivated co-workers.

  • You will also have a chance to travel a couple of times per year to live company meetings (pandemic permitting ๐Ÿ˜•).

  • An open-minded working culture where we encourage sharing opinions and feedback.

  • You are passionate about building stable apps that provide great user experiences. ๐Ÿ™‚

Compensation

The compensation range for this role is between โ‚ฌ70,000 to โ‚ฌ95,000 annually on B2B contract or matching gross salary as an employee (official employment status only available in certain countries). The actual compensation offered to a successful candidate will be based on relative experience and skills.

The compensation includes paid holiday days according to your country of residence (but a minimum of 20 days) plus your local holidays as paid time off, and additional remote working stipend or home office setup support.

Application process

An outline of what to expect from the application process.

  1. A short (up to 30-minute) non-technical video interview where we try to see if there is culture fit between you and SessionLab

  2. A technical interview (60-minute) where we will assess if your technical skills are right for the role

  3. Top candidates will be invited for a one-day paid contract work where you get to experience how we work and we get to see how you thrive under a busy day of work.ย

  4. If all goes well, we will make you an offer and if you accept, welcome you to our team!

Here's the tl;dr:

This is Rise

We set out to build a company that helps teams make the most of their time. Why? Because time is the most valuable asset we can spend only once. Becoming more aware of the fact that we have limited time is one of our key beliefs. And, not coincidentally, the central point in Rickโ€™s bestselling book.ย

image

Overview

The Rise web app is written in TypeScript using React and Mobx. It is using websockets to receive real-times updates from the backend. We are looking for a frontend engineer to take the web app to the next level.

What you'll be working on

As an early engineer you'll work on many different aspects of the product. A few examples:

  • Improvements to our Rise cmd-K Command Center: enable users to quickly navigate and manage their calendars from one uniform component
  • Work with our backend team to define a scalable and extensible API
  • Improve the app reliability by applying different types of test coverage (integration, unit, etc)

What our ideal candidate looks like ๐Ÿ’…

  • Extensive experience with Javascript and/or Typescript
  • Extensive experience with CSS
  • Extensive experience with React and/or Angular
  • Cares a lot about high quality, readable, structured code. Advocates best practices and architecture patterns. Is able to make trade-offs between extensibility, optimization and execution speed. Empowers others by reviewing code.
  • Proficient with different types of testing (integration, unit, stress, etc)
  • Has a habit of being paranoid about security and privacy (input validation, network encryption, authentication, authorization)
  • Is autonomous, able to independently pick up tasks and full projects and work through them end-to-end
  • Is product and user minded: is always focused on how their work will impact or optimize the experience of Rise users

We realize that as a founding team we're from similar backgrounds, that we have unconscious biasses and that we have work to do here. This is why we explicitly want to invite and encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply.

Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. **OVERVIEW**\n\nWe're looking for Security Engineers to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will build innovative payments products that delight both engineering and finance teams. As an early member of the engineering team, you will help shape the engineering culture of a fast-growing startup.\n\nThe core platform at Modern Treasury sits between our customers and their banks. In the same way that Twilio abstracted away the complexity of working with communication networks, we have built an easy-to-use, common interface into the banking system. Our customers use our products to do things like move money to or from their users, automate back-office work, and record their transaction ledgers. The companies that can use Modern Treasury move over $750 trillion a year via bank payments, as compared to only $2 trillion per year on card payments.\n\nOur API is often the most critical piece of infrastructure that our customers use. We place a premium on building robust, scalable systems that can sustain a high volume of API calls and exceed the reliability requirements to move money at scale. We complement this with well-thought out interfaces for our users and pride in writing quality API docs.\n\nWe believe in using the best tool for the job, rather than always using open source or building things ourselves. We actively embrace open source in parts of our system but aren't afraid to roll our own solution for things like writing and parsing bank files. We also contribute to open source (for example, https://www.moderntreasury.com/journal/continuous-accounting-building-on-an-open-source-library).\n\nIn addition to our API, we have had a web platform since day 1 that is used by accountants, controllers, and engineers. They use our platform to do things like manage payment workflows and monitor their business. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!

When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site. Remote OK accepts no liability or responsibility as a consequence of any reliance upon information on there (external sites) or here.

Aha! engineering is a mid-sized, fully remote team that is highly productive. We are centered around North American time zones so we can collaborate during the workday.\n\n**Our team**\n*  **We utilize [The Responsive Method](https://www.aha.io/company/the-responsive-method)**: The eight principles drive how we operate Aha! and serve customers and employees.\n*  **We move quickly**: We ship code multiple times a day. We believe in getting new features in front of customers and iteratively improving as we learn what works and what does not.\n*  **We collaborate:** We each bring unique experiences and skills to the table. Working together to share that knowledge benefits the entire team and helps us produce the best results for our customers.\n*  **We value product over process:** We want the team to have the time and focus to solve complex challenges. We aim to minimize the overhead introduced by heavyweight processes and excessive meetings.\n*  **We are happy:** it is important to us that you love your job and are happy at work. Learn more about our company [values](https://www.aha.io/company/culture). Check out our generous [benefits](https://www.aha.io/company/careers/benefits).\n\n**Our technology**\n\nOur sole product is the Aha! web application. It is a single-instance, multi-tenant Ruby on Rails monolith supported by Postgres (database), Redis (background jobs), and memcached (Rails caching). We also run a Node.js webserver to support collaborative editing and real-time updates. Our application is hosted on Amazon Web Services and architected with ECS for reproducibility and scalability.\n\nWe use React for rich client-side experiences on the front end. Some of the features we have built with React include:\n\n* Our fully collaborative [text editor](https://www.aha.io/blog/collaborative-writing): Supports multiple cursors and simultaneous editing by any number of users. We also published a [blog post](https://www.aha.io/engineering/articles/how-to-build-collaborative-text-editor-rails) explaining the underlying technology.\n* Our [presentation editor](https://www.aha.io/blog/product-roadmap-presentation-editor): Allows users to create presentations with slide themes, shapes, text, and embedded Aha! reports (which update live so the presentation is always current).\n* Our [Gantt chart](https://www.aha.io/blog/roadmap-gantt-chart): Supports scaling and scrolling to change the timeline, drag-and-drop, and quick actions to create records or sort the bars.\n* We embrace new technologies that help us deliver a lovable product, but we also remain cognizant of the maintenance overhead that a new library or platform brings. We solve the problems in front of us, rather than prematurely optimizing to address issues that may never materialize.\n* We do most of our collaboration and planning in Aha! itself, which we find especially rewarding. We also utilize GitHub, Slack, and GoToMeeting for video calls.\n\n**Your experience**\nWe believe that being a kind person who elevates the rest of the team is just as valuable as writing great code. You have strong problem-solving skills and experience working on important functionality for a cloud-based product. You are humble, eager to learn, and always willing to help others learn as well. You want to work with people who enjoy picking up a problem and solving it, regardless of the technologies and techniques involved.\n\nThe Aha! security team is part of the engineering team and is product focused. As a Senior Security Engineer, you can expect to spend the majority of your time working with Ruby on Rails and JavaScript code for security reviews, investigations, updates, and implementing security features.\n\n**Your work at Aha!**\nWe maintain security controls and perform security reviews on a broad range of features across the full stack. Your work will include:\n\n* Security code reviews that go above and beyond what can be found through scanning tools (which we use too!)\n* Cloud and network security reviews of Amazon Web Services infrastructure that is implemented via infrastructure as code\n* Monitoring third-party dependency vulnerability reports and applying fixes and mitigations\n* Sharing security findings and new developments internally for ongoing education\n* Participating in security monitoring, incident response, and investigations\n\nIf this sounds appealing, we would love to hear from you. A real human reviews every application. \n\nPlease mention the words **MAGNET GATHER CLOCK** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMy4xNy44MS4zNA==). This is a feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n $110,000 — $160,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nNorth America
