# Front-end Web Developer\nWe are seeking a Front-End Web Developer to fill the specialized role of Experiment Engineer. An Experiment Engineer manufactures HTML, SCSS, and JavaScript code to run on top of client websites that alters the experience of the site in an effort to improve the conversion rates of key performance metrics. They are comfortable working across a variety of different front-end frameworks and libraries as well as APIs. They must also be comfortable working to validate concepts by choosing the cheapest route to MVP versus over-engineering any particular task. They are familiar with CRO platforms such as Optimizely, Convert, VWO, and Google Optimize.\n\n**Responsibilities include:**\n\n* Develops efficient and robust experimentation code using HTML, SCSS, and JavaScript which is injected on top of existing client sites via experimentation software such as Optimizely, Convert, and VWO.\n* Engages as a technical consultant, providing web development expertise and insights, on internal and client-facing video calls. \n* Communicates thoroughly and sets clear expectations with Project Managers, Quality Assurance Analysts, and clients.\n* Offers ideas and provides feedback to help grow and scale Cro Metrics as a business.\n\n**Qualifications & Experience:**\n\nThis is a high communication role, and while no specific experience is required, you must be capable of learning new technical concepts quickly, regularly, and be able to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\n* 2+ years of experience writing HTML, SCSS, and JavaScript in a professional environment.\n* Critical thinking โ You can analyze a problem, craft a solution, and love iterating on your own processes. Every experiment is unique and has a different set of challenges so we often find ourselves in uncharted waters.\n* Attention to detail โ You have high attention to visual detail, can interpret specifications, can communicate detailed instructions, and leave no edge case unattended.\n* Updates internal documentation to help ensure site caveats and learnings are available and disseminated to peers.\n* Proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, calendars, spreadsheets, etc).\n\n**Nice-to-haves:**\n\n* Experience with A/B/n tests or with leading testing platforms such as Optimizely, Convert, VWO, etc.\n* Experience with Jira, Confluence, Slack, and Zoom.\n* Has worked in professionally in eCommerce or web-development, especially modern frameworks (Shopify, WordPress, etc.) and libraries (React, Angular, etc).\n* Computer Science degree or professional experience in back-end development.\n* Experience working fully remotely.\n* Knowledge of User Experience concepts.\n* Knowledge of Agile concepts.\n* Agency experience.\n\n**Our Hiring Process**\n\nWeโre glad youโre interested in working with us. We have a fairly unusual hiring process, but it has proven to work well both for us and for potential new hires. We have found that demonstrating basic competency is the best predictor of initial qualification for working with us, followed by actual work.\n\nOur process reflects that: below, we outline our values and how we work, and then ask you to complete a small task. Assuming we like your response, we will hire you for a โpaid interviewโ where you start working with us for a small number of hours each week. If both parties like working together, we expand the relationship. If not, we go our separate ways and both sides โwonโ in the deal!\n\nIf you have questions as you go through this, make notes and if we havenโt answered them by the end, feel free to email [email protected] or [email protected]. \n\n**Company Benefits**\n\n* 100% remote, continue to work from where you are based\n* Health insurance reimbursement allowance\n* Retirement plan with 4% company match (subject to a 3 month waiting period)\n* Professional gear (e.g. MacBook, monitor, and noise-canceling headset)\n* Annual All Hands trips\n* Paid Parental Leave\n* Liberal vacation policy\n* Access to group performance coaching sessions\n\n**Our Culture**\n\n* **Remote has always been our thing.** Weโve been fully remote since 2010, so unlike companies that have been remote since March of 2020, we designed our company and culture behind the principles of high-performing remote teams. Weโve always believed remote is the future of work, and much like the experimentation we do, have iterated a lot along the way in a persistent effort to get it right.\n* **Weโre a remote company.** We are spread out all over the country. Daytime availability is required for syncing with the team via Slack or Zoom, but Experiment Engineers enjoy all the flexibility remote working has to offer. Want to go on a mountain bike ride in the middle of the day? Cool, donโt forget your helmet! Need to pick the kids up from school? Nice, youโve got parent of the year in the bag. We stay connected through both synchronous and asynchronous communications.\n* **We value elegant code as much as you do, but we move fast.** Weโre writing code that runs on top of existing websites. Some tests only run for a few days before disappearing (though some do so well they become a permanent part of the clientโs site). There will be polling patterns and liberal use of !important.\n* **Again, weโre a remote company.** That makes communication โ including writing and reading comprehension โ extremely important. This is not a simple โpull tickets and give sign offโ gig. Successful applicants enjoy collaborating across teams, defining and clarifying needs, documenting processes, improving processes, and uploading custom emoji to Slack.\n\nYou can read more about our [culture and values here](https://crometrics.com/culture/) or [learn more about the team](https://crometrics.com/meet-the-team/).\n\n**Our Stack**\n\n* **Email/Calendar:** GSuite\n* **CRO Platforms:** Optimizely, VWO, Google Optimize, Convert, AB Tasty\n* **IDE:** Your choice. Most of our folks use VSCode.\n* **Messaging App:** Slack\n* **Video Chat:** Zoom\n* **Task Management:** Jira \n* **Documentation:** Confluence\n* **Code Repository:** GitHub\n* **Time Tracking Software:** Harvest\n* **Design Prototyping Software:** Figma \n\nAt Cro Metrics, our goal is to create a remote environment that celebrates the differences that make us, us. We strive to create an inclusive and equitable space, but we realize we donโt always get it right. Weโre continually working together to create mutual respect and opportunities to learn from one another and we encourage people of color, women, individuals with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ individuals to apply.\n\nWeโre looking for team members located in the U.S. regardless of race, ethnicity, age, national origin, marital status, parental status, veteran status, citizenship status, gender, gender-identity/expression, sexual orientation, disability, genetic information, and any other protected or unprotected class we may have missed. \nWork Location\n\nHome Office or any SUSE Location near the CET Timezone\n\n\nOur Product \n\nAt this position you will work on the Open Build Service (OBS). A Linux release engineering platform to collaborate on building and distributing software. The OBS helps SUSE to ship software to its customers. For a wide range of operating systems and hardware architectures.\n\n\nOur Team \n\nWe are a team of Web Developers spread all over Europe. Most of us work from home, a few of us you find in the SUSE headquarter in Nuremberg/Germany. All of us focus on the full stack that makes up our application. From UI/UX design using HTML/CSS/Javascript, over Creating Business Logic with Ruby on Rails to Data Modeling on our SQL database. We also practice the DevOps culture and Operate & Observe our code in production environments. This means each and every one of us takes care of the complete life cycle of the code we produce. We conceive, write, test, instrument, deploy, roll back and debug our code! We also believe in the agile principles and organize our work together in the SCRUM framework. https://openbuildservice.org/bs-team\n\nThis position will report to the Engineering Manager of the team, Hendrik Vogelsang.\n\n\nOur Values \n\nHere is what we identify as our team culture and how those attitudes translate into our daily practices. We are looking for people whose personal values have some overlap with ours. We value: Customers. By understanding peoples’ goals, needs and their limitations. Everything we build and change, everything we do, we do for the people using our product. Diversity, pluralism and freedom of choice. We think differences, not uniformity, in origin, circumstance and experience make people, the practice of software development and in the end, our product interesting. We believe it takes a diverse set of people to produce a product truly useful for everyone. Ownership. Instead of hiding behind processes, or driving relentlessly towards individual goals, we take ownership of the entire situation. We do that when things go smooth but also when things go wrong. No matter if they were in, or out of our control. No matter if that hurts and bruises our ego. It was never anyone else’s fault, it was ours. We believe ownership is how we respect others. Collaboration. By working toward shared goals, in a horizontal structure with flexible leadership. We do not only share results with each other, but how we got there. We constantly reflect our behavior and how it brings everyone else forward with us. We win together, we lose together. Quality. By taking due time, avoiding shortcuts, pacing ourselves. By being critical of what we do and by welcoming critique from others. We always leave our code base, processes and team better than we have found it. Community. By curiously exploring what other people inside and outside this industry think, do and produce. We expose ourselves to all kinds of ideas and openly share our own views. We strive for personal growth by continuously learning about other people, technology, development methodologies and efforts. We are open minded, always evolving adventurers\n\n\nPerks \n\nApart from the usual benefits of working for an established software engineering enterprise (competitive pay, rewards, established career ladder etc.) we can make the following happening for you. We are all about a healthy work life balance. You join a company that’s still growing fast and yet is over a quarter century old. We didn’t get here by burning out people. At SUSE we believe that without time off from work, a person becomes both bored and boring. That is why we provide flexible working hours, a flexible vacation policy and access to professional life & career coaching. We’ll give our best to help you maximize your well-being, because we are in it for the long run. We are all about creating opportunities for personal growth. You will have a personal budget for autonomous learning (O’Reilly/Linkedin Learning etc.) and for visiting industry events. The team spends every other Friday afternoon together sharing what they got inspired by. We frequently practice pair programming and kick off projects in mob programming. Every week you will have the opportunity to attend exciting lunch & learn sessions by SUSE industry experts. \nArt+Logic is looking for Full Stack Web Developers to work with us on interesting custom software projects. We’ve been around since 1991, and we’re still going strong. \n\nOur ideal developers thrive in the environment of variety and challenge that is inherent to custom software development, working with us in a long-term relationship over many projects for numerous clients.\n\nSince we do custom software development, the skills and needs for each project can vary widely. This goes beyond just the languages we use, to the industries and problem domains we work in. We look for generalists; most importantly those who are excited to learn and take on new challenges. You can expect to grow both in your strength and your versatility when working here. We want to help you do so.\n\nWe work remotely all over the United States and Canada. We expect you to be able to work well on your own and comfortably with teams. You won’t have someone looking over your shoulder so you'll need to be communicative and reliable, and hold yourself accountable. We depend on each other.\n\nArt+Logic is run by humans, who work and create using technology. Things can go wrong and we need to respond to the unexpected by being kind, considerate, fair, flexible, and calm. We treat our clients and peers as respectfully as we would like to be treated.\n\nHere’s an example of some projects we’ve worked on recently, so you can better understand the wide range of projects and challenges we undertake:\n\n\n* Implementing a Django-based DoD CAC card login\n\n* Writing a data model layer using SQLAlchemy to provide an object-oriented view of a legacy relational database schema. This model layer provides all business rules and data integrity using advanced python3 features. This data model in turn serves a REST API (python-pyramid) consumed by an advanced single-page web application written with Marionette (Backbone)\n\n* Created Windows tablet application to communicate with client's modbus hardware and upload data to Python/Django/Vue webapp for analysis and display\n\n\n\n\nWhat we want from you: (aka: skills)\n\nWe currently have a high demand for Python, specifically Django, and JavaScript web framework experience. \n\nHowever, more important than that, we are looking for people who are curious and looking for opportunities to learn. People who like learning and creating on their own. Those who are able to drive themselves or even lead others when completing projects. Developers who are able to organize and express their ideas. Communication is paramount here.\n\nRelationship Details:\n\nWe are looking for Contractors (1099) for long term open-ended relationships. Work hours are flexible; requiring reasonable overlap with normal working hours to support team communications, and not just nights and weekends. Our rates range from $35-$55/hour. We are ONLY looking for people in the United States and Canada.\n\nWe want you to enjoy working for us, and to be able to have a life outside of work. Since you're not commuting you can embrace the freedom of working from where you enjoy living, and use the saved time for your personal life and relationships. We don’t ask our developers to work consistently over 40 hours/week. \n\nIt’s important to us in the hiring process that we allow developers to demonstrate their abilities by actually developing something, because a list of previous employers or educational background aren’t always indicators of what someone can do. All applicants are asked to submit a solution to a programming challenge that emulates a task we might assign on a project. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

If you believe that developing user-centric web apps in a collaborative environment is your calling, we want you here. Work with our growing web engineering team as you construct web apps from the ground up.\n\nDuring your time as a Bushel Web Engineer, you’ll be working alongside the pack of wickedly slick Bushel Web Engineers. Together, you’ll work to design and develop front and backend web applications. You’ll be expanding your skill set by working alongside cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.\n\nAs a Bushel Web Engineer, you’ll be writing automated unit and integration tests to ensure code robustness, usability, and reliability. You must also be tenacious in helping with new developer on-boarding and training, as well as leading efficiency improvements and automation for your development team.
