๐Ÿ‘‰ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!

When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site. Remote OK accepts no liability or responsibility as a consequence of any reliance upon information on there (external sites) or here.

\nClimate Central is an independent organization of leading scientists and journalists researching and reporting the facts about our changing climate and its impact on the public. We are seeking the services of a talented and motivated front-end web developer to assist us with a greenfield implementation of a new design for https://climatecentral.org, our core web property. We are redesigning the site both from a UI/UX perspective, and a technical perspective. The new site will be built adhering to JAMStack principles, static pre-generation and CDN deployment where possible.\n\nUI/UX design through a 3rd party firm is at beginning stages, but content migration to Contentful CMS is mature. At this point in the project we're looking for a skilled developer that can execute the frontend design with high fidelity, using the new CMS, while building a high-quality new website codebase and documentation that can be owned and maintained effectively by Climate Central for the next decade. This will be the only pure coding role on the project, but the successful candidate will work collaboratively with other technical team members, and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nThis position is fully remote, on independent contract basis. We are open to working either on an hourly basis, or establishing a budget and schedule based on scoping conversations and resulting contract agreement. In any case, this is a high profile project on a tight schedule, so we'll need commitment to agreed upon schedule and availability. The successful candidate will be introduced to the project early in UI/UX design stages, using modern design sharing and review tools. We expect the development workload to initially be rate-limited by design progress, but to ramp up as the design matures this fall.\n\nEssential qualifications for this role:\n\n\n* 10+ years professional experience developing software\n\n* Thorough knowledge of essential modern web technologies: HTML5, CSS3, ES6+ JavaScript\n\n* 5+ years experience with ReactJS\n\n* 3+ years experience using static site generators\n\n* Experience with JAMStack architectures\n\n* Experience with GatsbyJS and/or GraphQL\n\n* Commitment to tasks assigned, and thorough communication\n\n\n\n\nPreference will be given to candidates who:\n\n\n* Have a track record of successful website builds for 3rd parties\n\n* Have experience with Contentful CMS\n\n* Have experience with automated deployment services such as Netlify\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\nThis position is fully remote. Climate Central’s headquarters are in Princeton, N.J., operating under standard US Eastern time business hours. Substantial overlap with these operating hours is preferable, but we are flexible. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.\n\nCompensation\n\nCompensation is competitive for a mission-driven non-profit. Hourly rate or project fees will depend on qualifications.\n\nDiversity\n\nClimate Central strongly encourages diverse candidates to apply. We are an Equal Employment Opportunity employer and as such do not discriminate against any applicant for employment or employee on the basis of race, color, religious creed, gender, age, marital status, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, veteran status or any other classification protected by applicable discrimination laws.\n\nHow to Apply\n\nPlease send your cover letter including project fee or hourly rate expectations and your resume to [email protected] with the exact subject line, “Front-end Web Developer for Climate” (no quotes). Due to the volume of applications and queries received, Climate Central is unable to respond to each application individually. Applicants will be contacted directly if selected as a candidate. The search will close when a successful candidate is recruited. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Front End, Web Developer, Developer and Digital Nomad jobs that are similar:\n\n $60,000 — $125,000/year\n
