\nThe Platform Engineering team at Olo builds and supports our shared infrastructure and foundational services and libraries in support of all product engineering teams. They build automation and tooling to enable all Olo engineering teams to deploy and manage infrastructure for their services and applications. Platform Engineering is, in short, a force multiplier that simplifies operational tasks and enables our engineers to be self-sufficient and productive.\n\nThe scope of Platform Engineering at Olo includes infrastructure automation and tooling, systems, network and database administration, development of cross-cutting libraries and services, data infrastructure engineering, and site reliability engineering.\n\nAs Director, Platform Engineering, you will lead and support multiple teams as a manager of managers, but with the opportunity to set direction across all teams, grow existing teams, and build out new teams. This is a new role at Olo that will provide management support and focus for a key part of our team in their service to the rest of Olo Engineering. You will help establish your team’s vision, guide their execution, align priorities with the needs of the business, evolve processes in support of continuous improvement, drive stakeholder alignment, and coach and further develop those engineering managers who report to you. You will foster a culture of collaboration, communication, accountability, skill sharing, teamwork, mutual respect, and curiosity.\n\nAs a servant leader, your focus will be on facilitating successful team outcomes, hiring and developing engineering talent, and ensuring that we are delivering an exceptional service to Olo’s product engineering teams. Our ideal candidate has led a platform engineering team for a fast-growing SaaS product company managing large scale, highly available, distributed systems, and has demonstrated success in leading and building a high performance engineering team.\n\nOur technology stack is rooted in .NET and SQL Server running in an AWS infrastructure, and we leverage modern software engineering tools such as GitHub, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, Datadog, and Sumo Logic, as well as heavy use of OSS.\n\nThis is a full-time position. Candidates may work at Olo’s headquarters in New York City’s Financial District, or remotely from anywhere in the U.S. In fact, more than 75% of our engineering team is remote!\n\nDesired Experience\n\n\n* Experience managing large scale, highly available, distributed systems in rapid growth environments\n\n* At least 4 years of operations experience spanning administration of operating systems, networks, databases, and distributed systems as well as security operations and compliance, preferably in an AWS hosted infrastructure\n\n* Experience building and/or managing a data engineering function\n\n* Experience managing a 24x7 operations team, including incident response management\n\n* Experience supporting software build/test/deploy/observability toolchains and automating infrastructure deployment\n\n* Working understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles, including working with Service Level Objectives and Indicators, managing error budgets, and building an observability culture\n\n* At least 4 years of software development experience\n\n* At least 5 years of engineering management experience under an Agile operational model, with 2 or more years in a manager-of-managers capacity\n\n* Demonstrated ability to build and mentor a high performance team while seeking continuous improvement\n\n* Ability to translate business priorities into viable technology or process solutions, and deliver\n\n* Experience developing realistic project plans, managing stakeholder expectations, and tracking team execution\n\n* Experience managing distributed teams consisting largely of remote engineers\n\n* BS degree in a technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience\n\n* Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills\n\n* Legal right to work in the U.S.\n\n\n\n\nAbout Olo\n\nOlo is the on-demand interface for the restaurant industry, powering digital ordering and delivery for over 300 restaurant brands. \nAt Olo we develop an online food ordering platform used by many of the country’s largest restaurant chains, reaching millions of consumers. Chances are if you’ve ordered directly from a restaurant brand’s app or website, we’ve made that happen. Mobile ordering and payments is an exciting and active industry full of interesting players and yet still a relatively untapped market ripe for disruption. We’re quite up-front about the technical challenges our business faces. Running a platform with multiple white-labeled front-ends, that maintains real-time connections into thousands of restaurants’ POS systems, and coordinates complex transactions between these and other third parties (such as payment gateways and gift card providers) is not for the faint of heart!\n\nWe take great pride in the reliability, security, and performance of our systems and services. We are looking for a talented security engineer with experience in a Blue Team role to help us fortify our defenses and protect the systems that enable hungry people to order their food quickly and securely.\n\nIn the role of Senior Security Engineer, you will design and implement the security defenses that enable our systems to keep running while protecting the data of our clients and their customers. Specific responsibilities include:\n\n\n* Monitoring and defending attacks using security technologies that include advanced anti-malware solutions, network forensics, and detection solutions\n\n* Participating in Security Incident response investigations\n\n* Supporting AV and Endpoint technology and supporting deployments\n\n* Responding to alerts, events, and incidents per our specified procedures and policies\n\n* Resolving or escalating events and incidents\n\n* Interacting with IT operational teams to advise on, coordinate, and track mitigation and remediation activities\n\n* Conducting Blue Team exercises and Computer Network Defense drills that enable us to evaluate and improve processes related to threat detection, incident response, patching, remediation, and user training\n\n* Maintaining centralized patch and vulnerability management solutions to ensure endpoints are compliant with security guidelines\n\n* Performing endpoint management to provide patching and task automation of servers and desktops to maintain a secure and compliant environment.\n\n* Performing daily operational work that includes security monitoring, addressing security tickets, security data/logs, and Forensic analysis, host configuration audits, firewall rule reviews, and other security tasks.\n\n\n\n\nThis is a full-time position reporting into our Operations Team. Any engineer may work at Olo’s headquarters in New York City’s Financial District or remotely from anywhere in the U.S. In fact, more than half of our engineering team is remote!\n\nDesired Experience\n\n\n* Previous Blue Team experience\n\n* Proven experience developing and leading remediation/ mitigation activities, and providing status updates and reports.  Emphasis on remediation plans and strategies.\n\n* Experience with Windows Desktop, Windows Server and Linux operating systems and system administration – specifically with regard to patching and compliance\n\n* Experience with networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and configuration – specifically with regard to patching and compliance\n\n* Understanding of networking concepts such as DMZs, subnets, VLANs, private IP addressing and NAT\n\n* Technical knowledge of information technology and cyber security standards and issues\n\n* Strong working knowledge of security-relevant data, including network protocols, ports and common services, such as TCP/IP network protocols and application layer protocols (e.g. HTTP/S, DNS, FTP, SMTP, Active Directory etc.)\n\n* Past experience deploying and maintaining security technologies such as Symantec DLP, Palo Alto, Check Point, Carbon Black, CrowdStrike, Alert Logic, Sophos\n\n* Security experience in an AWS operational environment\n\n* CISSP certification\n\n* Strong English writing and verbal communication skills\n\n* Legal right to work in the U.S.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Olo\n\nOlo is the on-demand interface for the restaurant industry, powering digital ordering and delivery for over 200 restaurant brands.
