OpStart is searching for an innovative and experienced Senior Full-Stack Engineer to lead technology execution in line with our mission. ย

Our product today is a finance department in a box for startups โ€“ we take over management of all accounting and finance tasks, allowing entrepreneurs to focus on their product and growth while OpStart keeps their books clean and compliant. Delivering this product involves a combination of manual processes, software automation, and communication with customers. Our technology team is focused on improving this product by reducing the manual effort and communication required to deliver it.ย

Our initial priority is launching a platform that makes finance more accessible for entrepreneurs. We are seeking to empower founders by providing a โ€œhome page for financeโ€ that allows them to access information, track tasks, and meet deadlines in one central location.ย 
ย 
Additionally, our product and technology teams work closely with our accounting team to identify inefficiencies in their execution processes and develop automations to eliminate them.ย 
ย 
Our goal is to streamline OpStartโ€™s operations by facilitating communication and make life easier for clients. In the long-run, the product can become a standalone tool for entrepreneurs trying to understand their own financial and back-office needs. ย

This engineer will help us build and maintain a seamless Client experience. The role reports directly to the VP of Product and the tech department currently consists of two PT ย and one FT contract developers that have been working on the MVP since Q3 of 2022. We currently host one standup per week and one retro after each project so asynchronous transparency and comfort with autonomy is key.

What youโ€™ll do
ย - Lead the architecture, design, and development of our Client platform as well as vendor selection
ย - Use your diverse engineering skills to create robust and scalable services and contribute to delightful user experiences. ย 
ย - Work in NodeJS, typescript, express and other backend technologiesย 
ย - Assist and influence frontend portions of the system leveraging Typescript, React, and vite
Publish robust documentation and articulate a long-term technical direction and vision for maintaining and scaling our core technology
ย - Contribute, review, and iterate on design decisions, code, and automated tests
ย - Work alongside our VP of Product to inform and lead our technology strategy and best equip our Accounting team to provide white glove serviceย 
ย - Establish standards and ensure compliance and accuracy for the companyโ€™s technology performance, including cloud architecture, data warehouse, and communication technologiesย

About the role

Youโ€™ll be the 3rd person joining our 2-person engineering team and will mainly work on the feature development. Upcoming are improvements to the collaboration experience, image support and the Discord sync.

While we use React, Typescript, Firebase and React Native, weโ€™re not looking for a checklist of technologies. Weโ€™re looking for people who can demonstrate experience and deep knowledge about programming and the surrounding skills to ship projects. (Weโ€™re not open to junior positions at this moment.)

This means the ability to analyze problems, communicate how youโ€™re going to solve them, the trade-offs involved with your approach, converting that into well-written code that your colleagues will have a good time continuing on and transferring knowledge. We value how much certain ideas and technologies fit the problem at hand and the overall architecture of the product, not which technologies are hot at at the moment.

We do combine simple ideas in exciting ways to allow us to achieve much more with a small team and create a developer experience only found in our company, with much more to come. This enabled that 95% of Memex was built by only 2 devs.
