Founded in 2011 as an online financial media network, tastylive is now affiliated with companies like a brokerage firm (tastytrade in 2017), a research lab (quiet foundation in 2018), and a magazine (luckbox in 2019). In 2021, London-based IG Group acquired tastytrade, Inc. and assigned it to lead business in North America. This combined team has years of experience like institutional brokers but also a passion for disrupting the entire trading industry.  \n \nOur dream is simple: we want more people to find more success with a better trading experience. Thatโ€™s why weโ€™re investing heavily in the right people, technology, and media to make that happen in the US and across the globe.\n\nThe diversity of our offerings and the technology that powers them provide our engineers with exposure to a broad set of tools and the opportunity to dig deep into specific problems. \n\ntastytrade | tastylive | tastyfx\n1330 W Fulton Market, Chicago, IL 60607 \n\n*Don't meet every single requirement? \nSenior Backend Developer \n\nLasso is the creator of the leading cloud-based CRM software for real estate marketing and sales. Our users are real estate developers, homebuilders, and sales agencies that use Lasso to convert prospects to purchasers and sell their developments faster and easier.\n\nWe have experienced consistent growth during the last decade and our user base asks a lot of our system. Scale, reliability, and innovation keep us learning on daily basis. You will join our server-side team to enhance and maintain our server-side Java 8 and Kotlin applications.\n\nWe have distributed systems hosted in AWS, which are presented to our users through an AngularJS frontend.\n\nMoving forward, the biggest challenge we face is scaling our systems to work with a large dataset and high system load. You’ll help us build systems that can easily scale up and down the number of processing nodes as needed and implement rate-limiting to ensure rogue systems don’t impact our SLAs for other applications.\n\nAdditionally, you’ll improve the performance of our main data store by adding or changing indexes as appropriate, add caching functionality where possible and set up monitoring to catch performance bottlenecks early on.\n\nCulture and Work Environment\n\nAs a fully remote team, communication is extremely important - there is no chance to drop in on interesting discussions around the water cooler or to see if someone is busy just by glancing at their desk.\n\nWe have systems to signal busy-ness; regular meetings and stand-ups to disseminate information, frequent one-on-ones to ensure there are no frustrations building up, a code of conduct and a formal complaint process to resolve conflicts early-on.\n\nYou thrive in a self-directed and open work environment. There’s no boss breathing down your neck, no deadlines, no fixed work hours and no in-office requirements. It’s really important that you can manage your time well, and you know what you need in order to do your job well (e.g. what work hours to pick so you have enough time to communicate with team members effectively)\n\nAs a key member of our server-side team, you’ll specifically be expected to:\n\n\n* Design and build API endpoints for our internal and public APIs\n\n* Architect efficient task scheduling and processing systems\n\n* Keep up-to-date on new AWS features and integrate them into our tech stack if appropriate\n\n* Work closely with the Director of Engineering to adapt and develop our architecture and systems\n\n* Implement monitoring systems for performance bottlenecks on our main data store\n\n* Determine through performance profiling where to add caching to our distributed systems and internal interfaces\n\n* Monitor the growth of our datasets and assist in creating strategies to address the systems where growth could become an issue\n\n\n\n\nRequirements:\n\n\n* Deep knowledge of the OOP paradigm, experience with functional programming and other approaches is a plus\n\n* Experience building complex systems with many moving parts, such as different protocols, varying restrictions on latency or CAP parameters\n\n* Knowledge of common logging and CI tools, at least on an abstract level\n\n* Excellent knowledge of static type systems and compiled languages\n\n* Deep knowledge of various data stores such as SQL, document stores, key-value stores or queuing systems, as well as their performance characteristics and scalability issues\n\n* Good understanding of caching and cache invalidation strategies\n\n\n\n\nBenefits:\n\n\n* Work where and how you are most productive\n\n* You are not required to be in the office. Start time and work times are flexible\n\n* We’ll provide a development setup of your choosing, whether it’s a MacBook Pro or the components for a nice PC tower, you can pick whatever works best for you\n\n* Pick your own tools. We use what we know best. Windows, Mac, Linux, whatever you like\n\n* We provide you with a tools budget that you can use to make yourself productive ($300 per purchase, no authorization needed)\n\n* We know learning is a must on and off the job. We provide formal education matching (up to $1500 yearly) and funding for other continued learning, conferences, and workshops\n\n* Medical and Dental benefits\n\n* Great Vancouver-market salary\n\n\n\n\nInterested?\n\nLasso’s vision is to be the technology hub for new home sales in North America by providing a unique combination of remarkable software and expert services. To achieve our vision we need great developers. That’s why we’ve created a great work environment, encouraging self-direction, personal development, and teamwork. If you think you’re a good fit, send your resume and cover letter to [email protected].\n\nLasso is privately held and based in Richmond, BC, Canada. We're hiring Senior Software Engineers in Salt Lake who are passionate about technology and education to build a new, next generation product for companies who want to invest in their employees. \n\nWhat's it like to work at Instructure? Our product team doesn't throw spec documents over an imaginary wall only to have engineering build something and throw it over another wall to QA. Our teams are collaborative — we sit together, brainstorm together, and build together because we believe that's the only way to make superior software. We're committed to innovation — so much so, in fact, that we hold quarterly hack weeks to let individuals and teams build pet projects and aim for the fences with radical new ideas.\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat we do:\n\n\n\n\n* We're building innovative web applications. RESTful, easy to consume APIs and single-page, rich JS applications are our bread and butter.\n\n* Our polyglot team has interest in multiple JVM languages and a strong preference for simple, elegant solutions to customer needs.\n\n* We are cloud native: that means building fault-tolerant, highly available applications that can scale up to meet load and scale down to watch those Benjamins.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat we look for:\n\n\n\n\n* Breadth of experience across languages and frameworks.\n\n* Deep knowledge of the Java or Javascript languages, including the latest features in Java 8, and desire to work in Kotlin and React.\n\n* Past experience with Spring, Guice, or other IoC tools.\n\n* Experience with new web frameworks like Dropwizard, Spring Boot, or Play is a plus.\n\n* A history of unit and other automated testing to ensure application quality.\n\n* Capable communicators passionate about product development and user experience.\n\n* Experience mentoring and developing other engineers.\n\n* Autodidacts who love continual learning and exploration.\n\n* Engineering leaders who care about coding standards and writing lean, maintainable software.\n\n* 7+ years of professional software development experience.\n\n* BS or greater in Computer Science preferred (but definitely not required).\n\n\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Senior, Engineer, Developer, Digital Nomad, JavaScript, Education, Java and Cloud jobs that are similar:\n\n $65,000 — $120,000/year\n

\nSeeking highly skilled Java Engineers to expand our Online Arts Education platform.\n\nJoin our highly successful and growing agile team to help build scalable feature-rich web applications customized to our clients’ needs.  Our current work is focused on the creation of learning management systems in the field of online arts education.\n\nAre you…\n\n\n* agile - You are able to work in an environment where, rather than expecting a Big Design Up Front, you are constantly collaborating with business analysts and QA testers to refine our collective understanding of the clients’ needs. We bite off small chunks of work, define them to the best of our ability, and constantly iterate with the client to refine our understanding of what they want. We are constantly refining our processes in order to achieve extremely ambitious delivery schedules.\n\n* highly analytical - You understand how a specification written in the plain language of the client/end-user should be broken down into well-engineered object-oriented code. You are able to search and read a large code-base to learn how to produce new features within the existing framework.\n\n* organized and detail oriented - You can keep track of several threads at once, without losing the details. You notice edge cases, documented or otherwise, and pro-actively address them. You are self-managing.\n\n* familiar with component architecture - You’ve used some kind of component-based architecture in a professional code-base.\n\n* a web programmer - You’ve got experience writing professional web applications. You understand web-based concepts such as HTTP, URL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, cookies, sessions, AJAX, caching, authentication, and web services. You’ve worked with relational databases. You understand MVC architecture.\n\n* a java programmer - You’re fluent in java programming idioms including servlets, dependency injection, unit testing, and object-relational mapping.\n\n* not a cowboy coder - You are able to articulate design decisions and defend them. You practice test driven development and continuous refactoring. You use a revision control system and engage in peer code review.\n\n* passionate about coding - You read software engineering blogs, articles, books, etc. to learn more about your craft. You want to improve your own skills and your team’s engineering process. You try new approaches and tools when doing so will help the team improve its output.\n\n\n\n\nAnd for optional bonus points, you are expert in…\n\n\n* Adobe Experience Manager (fka CQ5) - We maintain a few CQ-based websites for our client that closely integrate with our Wicket+CDI+Hibernate based Learning Management System.\n\n* hibernate - You’ve not only mapped an entity, but you’ve written your own HQL queries and used MetaModelGen or QueryDSL to write type-safe queries.\n\n* wicket - You’ve used the Apache Wicket web application framework. Our entire application is built around Wicket.\n\n* scalability - You’ve developed applications that work well in a clustered environment. You know about read-only slave databases. You know the pros and cons of indexing tables, putting data in the session, how to use the second level cache, load balancing, and sticky sessions. You know how to perform load testing with profiling to identify hotspots.\n\n* maven - You’ve used the Apache Maven build system and understand how a POM works.\n\n* Atlassian - You’ve used tools from the Atlassian Suite such as JIRA, Fisheye, Crucible, Bamboo, Confluence, and/or Greenhopper.\n\n* Git - You’ve used the Git as a distributed source repository. You’re well versed in branching and merging in this environment.\n\n* brain power - If you are smarter than us, we like you even more.\n\n\n\n\nWhile we’re prepared to train promising and talented engineers on these details of our framework, exceptional candidates will already have experience with these specific technologies. These qualifications are not required but they will bump you up in our hiring priority and will increase your salary potential.\n\nYou will…\n\n\n* work with business analysts at the earliest stages of requirements gathering to help them understand technical issues of new feature requests.\n\n* participate in planning and estimation.\n\n* implement new features in our existing applications.\n\n* pair with a tester during development to ensure maximum utility from our QA process.\n\n* be given slack time to explore new ideas and broaden your skills.\n\n\n\n\nYou may also…\n\n\n* refactor/improve our build system.\n\n* contribute improvements to open source projects that we rely on.\n\n* create new tools that fundamentally improve the whole team’s development capabilities.\n\n* mentor engineers.\n\n* optimize and refactor existing code.\n\n* build R&D projects to expand the team’s expertise.\n\n\n\n\nThese are the tasks that will fall to our most senior and skilled engineers. As your skills with our code base increase, you will take on more of this kind of work. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Java, Engineer, Developer, Digital Nomad, Education, Git, Senior and Apache jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n
