Remote Director of Business Development

\nAbout The Role\n\n\nYard Stick is looking for a Director of Business Development to help us fight climate change with soil.\nTo date, two-ish people have done the bulk of Yard Stickโ€™s customer discovery, business development, commercial strategy-setting, and selling: Chris Tolles (CEO)  and Kelsey Chan (Head of Growth + Partnerships). To accomplish our ambitious climate impact and commercial revenue goals, Yard Stick must transition from being primarily a founder-led sales effort to one with dedicated team members and expertise 100% focused on growing the companyโ€™s top line. We have demonstrated incredible early traction and are ready to accelerate our efforts to win more and bigger contracts for work in our wheelhouse, namely soil C stock quantification on row crop and grazing agricultural soils in the US. \n\n\nWeโ€™re looking for a biz dev powerhouse to build on our existing foundation and take commercial growth to the next level. This person will get inside the heads and hearts of our customers, build trust with prospects (often over months and longer!), iterate on our marketing/messaging for maximum resonance, craft home-run proposals, and generally sell the shit out of our offering.\n\n\nThis role must both be the type to knock down a door driving toward a signed contract, and be incredibly curious and empathetic in the way they collaborate with other Yard Stick stakeholders, both external and internal. It will start as a 100% IC role with potential to grow into a team lead for the right person, but the most compelling candidate must be thrilled if it doesnโ€™t become a management role for even a few years.\n\n\nThis full-time remote role will report to Kelsey Chan, starting ASAP in 2025. We are on a mission to reverse climate change with agriculture. Scientists and farmers alike know that climate-friendly agricultural practices have the potential to remove atmospheric CO2 at gigaton/year scale. When these practices are adopted, more carbon is stored in soils, improving soil health and fighting climate change. That said, the #1 KPI for this role is revenue signed, so with the right raw materials (e.g. tech maturity, basic market assets, strategic clarity), which youโ€™ll help create and refine, youโ€™ll win big soil carbon measurement contracts for the company quickly and consistently. You love relational business development where you must get โ€œin the headโ€ of your customer to educate, build trust, and get to yes. Youโ€™re not intimidated by education, proposal, and sales processes which can last months (or sometimes years!). You are hungry. You will run through a brick wall to hit your number. \n* Comfort selling in emerging tech risk/complexity contexts. Yard Stick is literally the first company in the history of the world to deploy our technologies commercially. There are significant unknowns (Can we do almonds? You write very well. \n* Strong personal independence and entrepreneurial autonomy. You beg forgiveness rather than ask permission. You donโ€™t sit around waiting for the CEO to answer your question, but rather get it done one way or another with what youโ€™ve got. Yard Stick is a small, young, ambitious company. We move very quickly and have big goals. You understand the pace of early-stage tech startups and can move at a similar pace yourself. Job Description

The Study Director reports to the VP of Lithium Development Projects and is responsible for planning, tracking, reporting, monitoring, and task assigning and self-performance of project activities assuring that the overall project study requirements are met in accordance with the Albemarle project study framework.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Formulate a project study deliverables plan
  • Assign required internal and external resources to the study plan
  • Management of project resources through the study cycle, coordination and administration, utilizing the Albemarle standards specific to the phase of the project
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and assessments to track progress to plan and provide accurate progress updates to Albemarle Management, in specific earnt value of work completed and forecasted, forecasted future financial outflows for financial year planning
  • Compile regular (monthly, quarterly, yearly) progress reports and portfolio updates as may be required by the Albemarle project management office and finance department
  • Set in place the formulation of the key building blocks of a project study in accordance with the specific study phase criteria contained in the Albemarle APP to support an investment case.
The key items specifically of focus for the study manager to assemble, coordinate or create include:
  • The Opportunity/Problem Statement
  • The alternatives considered to produce an investment case
  • The technical solutions or technologies available in support of the proposed alternatives
  • Business risk assessment of the alternatives and project scope
  • Defining the ultimate project scope
  • Project Approval approach
  • Project execution strategy and plan
  • Project time and cost estimates
  • Project risk assessments for each phase, and outcomes ranging, and
  • Financial modeling and investment case compilation
  • Coordinate the study outputs and document in the format of a study report and recommendations,
  • Manage the process of internal and external reviews of the project study report, project peer reviews and risk reviews
  • Provide project leadership to deliver sustainable outcomes whilst achieving project delivery on โ€œtimeโ€ on โ€œbudgetโ€ on โ€œscopeโ€
  • Ensure conformance with the Albemarle Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations;

The Technical Support Specialist - DACH (AKA Customer Support Engineer (CSE)) is responsible for responding to customer issues across our Wdesk and Wdata platforms.


Support consists of troubleshooting issues with customers, identifying problems, researching answers, and guiding the customer through corrective steps.


A key component of this position will consist of providing technical and functional support to customers over the phone, chat or case management. A CSE provides product information and resolves most administrative and product problems which our customers face.


They are responsible for owning the customer experience and improving our ability as a business to support their dynamic needs.


What You'll Do


  • Customer Support: Support customers by providing technical and functional expertise over the phone, chat and case management.
  • Manages customer inquiries within the expected time frame and acts as the escalation point within Tier1 support, only escalating above themselves when required
  • Responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism with clients and working to establish a positive rapport with every customer
  • Troubleshoots customer issues by utilizing knowledge of application, experience and by self-guided research of issues
  • Capable of resolving complex customer issues with minimal assistance from escalated assistance

Responsibilities

As PK-PD data programmer you manage and prepare data for state-of-the-art analysis, such as PopPK or drug exposure-response (PKPD), typically based on CDISC ADaM / SDTM datasets. Our Pharmacometricians are responsible for providing expertise into clinical development plans, including the design, conduct, and interpretation of relevant clinical pharmacology and PK/PD studies. Qualified candidates will have the ability to work on a variety of therapeutic indications and data types with an adequate understanding of applied population PK and PK/PD modeling and simulation to support drug development programs.


Responsibilities


  • Deepen their strategic drug development expertise and their experience informing drug development decisions.
  • Perfect their pharmacometric techniques with fit-for-purpose modeling approaches such as population PK and PK/PD modeling, target-mediated drug disposition TMDD) models, dose- and exposure-response analyses.
  • Broaden their drug development expertise by working with a myriad of companies, molecular modalities, and therapeutic areas.
  • Develop their consulting career path by recognizing and seeking opportunities that match their ambition and personal interests.
  • Support projects for Certaraโ€™s clients by working in teams with other Associates, senior expert modelers, and drug development consultants.
  • Hands on pharmacometric modeling on client projects as a billable consultant.
  • Continuing education on advanced modeling and simulation approaches, with an emphasis on methods appropriate for small molecules and/or complex biologics, (bispecific biologics, chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapies, and immuno-oncology therapies).
  • Conduct quality control activities on model codes and reports.
  • Support projects for Certaraโ€™s clients by working in teams with other Associates, senior expert modelers, and drug development consultants.
  • Hands on pharmacometric modeling on client projects as a billable consultant.
  • Continuing education on advanced modeling and simulation approaches, with an emphasis on methods appropriate for small molecules and/or complex biologics, (bispecific biologics, chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapies, and immuno-oncology therapies).

Qualifications


  • MSc, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years of industry/consulting experience (may be combined with academic research) working in R&D, pre-clinical and clinical environments.
  • Solid experience in pharmacometrics, clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, or a related discipline in a project team setting is preferred, whether in academia or industry.
  • Expertise in PK/PD modeling with strong quantitative skills applied to develop models with nonlinear behavior, mechanistic or semi-mechanistic components relating to mechanism of action and tailored to meet specific drug-development questions.
  • Proficiency in software used for modeling analyses (e.g. Phoenix NLME, NONMEM, Adapt, Monolix) and performs dataset construction (e.g. R, SAS).
  • Independent performance of analysis and modeling and development of reports with limited supervision.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English. Certara is a global company, and additional languages are of benefit.
