We strive to make creating webAR experiences as easy as possible. They range from heavy hitting corporates, to government departments, global digital agencies, marketing agencies (small, medium and large), digital freelancers and educators. \n\nWithin these companies our customers tend to be the creative forces; think "designers, artists, 3d modellers, front end developers and js folk that don't have the knowledge or the time to get their heads into the complex space that is webAR". \n\nWe make their lives easier by giving them the online tools they need to create a range of webAR experiences that "just work". All in your web browser. Experiences that seamlessly work across different devices without needing to add any code (unless you want to). \n\nWe are seeing increasingly strong growth in our customer base as more people are coming to understand what AR is, and more importantly how AWEsome it is when it's delivered through the web browser. \n\nCovid also means people are using webAR to connect to their customers in new and innovative ways too.\n\n### WHAT DOES WORKING AT AWE LOOK LIKE?\n\nSince its inception, AWE has been a "remote first and remote only" company and have established our team, processes and work based around this idea. We believe that life and work aren't separate. Supporting our team to work flexibly and remotely enables people to be more productive and allows for you to fit "more of your life" into your day.\n\nOur team is currently distributed across Europe and the Asia Pacific region, although we're open to welcoming new team members from anywhere in the world. \n\nWe don't have a physical office. Your office could be your home or a co-working space, a beachside cafe or the top of a mountain. As long as you have an internet connection, you decide where you work from. We have a culture of trust and accountability so we don't tell you when and where to work. Rather we are focused on productivity and open communication within the team. We encourage the team to have at least a 2-4 hour working time crossover window each day, especially with team members you may be currently working on a specific project with. And each day we have an all-in team meeting. For some, this means starting earlier in their day (freeing up your afternoons and evenings), for others it is starting later in the day, and some even like to split up their work times across their day and evening.\n\nOur primary communication is via online chat, and tickets/wiki for work tasks, allocation and documentation. Our primary language is English as this is the common language across team members. We don't mind if you don't have perfect spoken English, however your written English needs to be pretty good, as is your ability to type quickly in online channels as part of team discussions.\n\nWe also have a flat team structure, so you will be talking and working with anyone and everyone in the team when you need to.\n\n### WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING\n\nWe don't believe in giving you a list of tools and frameworks you need to have a high proficiency in. We don't need you to have a specific number of years experience under your belt. What we are looking for is someone with a passion for the web and experience building web based applications to work with our growing team to continue our groundbreaking work in the spatial and augmented web. \n\n### ABOUT YOU:\n* You have a good working knowledge of HTML and CSS\n* Have at least some experience with vanilla javascript\n* Good git skills\n* Have a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite of tools or similar (e.g. Sketch, Figma, Invision, etc.). We're not asking you to be a designer, but you'll need to code product and project user interfaces, optimise images and other media from our content, design and UX team.\n* You have experience creating web based applications and\n* You are a great communicator. You appreciate the importance of clear communication, especially when workingย withย a remote team.ย \n* You bring a genuine aptitude for problem solving and the ability to work autonomously with a high degree of accountability. Youย are happy working on a task by yourself,ย but you take initiative to involve other team members whenย necessary.ย \n* You have aย high attention to detail.ย Youย are intimatelyย familiarย withย the complexitiesย ofย web development,ย e.g.ย mobileย responsiveness,ย browserย compatibilityย and ensure you QA all work before handing it over for integration or review.\n\n\n**Salary based on demonstrable skills and experience, and location.** \n\nPlease mention the words **RING DECORATE DISAGREE** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xNDY=). Do you want to use your coding skills to improve the lives of millions of people? Are you brave enough to **let millions of UX designers use your code**? Are you obsessive about your own **professional development** and **continuous learning-through-doing**? Then read on! \n\nThe Interaction Design Foundation is the biggest online design school globally. Founded in 2002, we have over 90,000 graduates and counting. We're **market leaders** in online design education because the **worldโs leading experts** create our content and because we're specialized in design. Whatโs more, with over 1.5 million monthly visitors, weโre at the forefront of providing premier design education to such organizations as IBM and SAP, as well as thousands of other companies. Our ever-growing community now needs a first-class front-end developer to **help craft the ultimate user experience**.\n\nThis is where your **passion for UX and hard-science coding skills** merge: Every time your code is executed, **you help improve the life of a human being**. And not only that, those members will likely go on to design better products and services to the benefit of all humankind.\n\nOur front-end code is a **vital part of our winning formula**: Our codebase is our baby and it can never become too perfect. You will, therefore, become an **essential part of our long-term success**, someone who is making a **direct impact** on not only the growth and reputation of our foundation but also the whole world of design education and beyond!\n\nThis is a paid **full-time** position which is **location independent**: Youโre free to work from wherever you want in the world. You will have regular video-based contact with your colleagues and get to meet them physically on team trips.\n\n**What you will be doing**\n\nYou will join our team as our Senior UI/Front-End Developer and your main responsibilities will be to:\n* Write reusable components using the Laravel Blade template engine, CSS and presentational JavaScript.\n* Help improve our Design System at [https://design-system.interaction-design.org](https://design-system.interaction-design.org) \n* Maintain our PostCSS code base to keep and improve reusability and DX and deliver less CSS to the end user.\n* Improve CSS architecture and guidelines, make principal technical decisions in the UI area.\n* Help us use animations more widely, e.g. with Lottie animations.\n* Automate regression testing and front end code quality checks.\n* Improve the accessibility and performance of our pages.\n* Work with our design team to improve UX on different stages of the design process.\n* Work on PWA for our course platform as a part of the front-end team (offline support, better mobile experience, etc.)\n* Help yourself, and the whole team, get better and better. For example, by improving our handbook at [https://handbook.interaction-design.org](https://handbook.interaction-design.org). Or use our library of evergreen literature on back-end and front-end subjects to broaden your horizon.\n\n**You and our future-proof stack**\n\nForget IE and clunky workarounds for compatibility with other dinosaur browsers: We spend our time only on modern Web APIs since we only support evergreen browsers.\n\nWeโre constantly refactoring our front-end code with the goal of reaching front-end heaven. We seek a balance between sticking with what works and fearlessly exploring the new:\n\n* Laravel Blade template engine (yup, we build our HTML on the server-side).\n* PostCSS to maximize the power of modern CSS.\n* Webpack for perfect control over front-end assets.\n* Latest JS with support for ES2020 features. To accomplish this we use the latest Babel releases.\n* BEM/ITCSS in combination with Tailwind CSS based utility classes.\n* A custom-made [design system](https://design-system.interaction-design.org) to achieve consistency and ease of use.\n\nWe โค CI (Continuous Integration) and CD (Continuous Delivery) so we usually deploy a few releases per day: Zero downtime. Just a few buttons to push. No sweaty palms.\n\nWe care deeply about Developer Experience (DX) of our codebase and tools. DX and DevOps is our middle name: git, GitHub, HTTP2, CDN, AWS, Enterprise SSDs on our high-spec servers and much more.\n\n**About you**\n\n* You have at least 5 years of experience working as a Front-End Developer.\n* You prefer native web APIs and functionality over alluring new frameworks - and you know how and when to use them.\n* You regularly use WHATWG and W3C and you are intimately familiar with the latest web standards.\n* You can create your own intelligent, reusable CSS layout system.\n* You test across devices and browsers, and optimize for performance.\n* You write testable code.\n* You love to learn through doing. Youโre always ready to put in some hard work to expand your skills.\n* You speak and write acceptable English โ not perfect English, just acceptable โ since you will be working with people from Canada, England, Denmark, the US, Belarus and Brazil among others.\n* You are a team player and you don't bring your ego to work. \n* You are self-motivated and self-disciplined and thus work well in a flat hierarchy with lots of freedom.\n* You love to have creative freedom, make independent judgments and live up to the responsibility that comes with that freedom.\n* You love to create tangible resultsโevery hour and every day.\n\n**Bonus points**\n\nYou get bonus pointsโฆ\n* if you have contributed to open source\n* if you have a Masterโs Degree in Computer Science\n* if you have PHP coding experience\n* if you have read articles from the following authors:\n * Heydon Pickering https://heydonworks.com/latest/\n * Rob Dodson\n * Sara Soueidan https://www.sarasoueidan.com/blog/ \n\nPlease mention the words **PREFER PANIC SUGAR** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xNDY=). We are growing our front-end team to build the next generation of HR delivery services.\nOur head office is in Paris, but we are mostly a remote team, and we accept candidates located in France, Germany and the UK.\n\nAs a Javascript developer, your role is to give life to this platform backed by our design guidelines and our APIs. Your responsibilities will include:\n\n\n* Improving existing applications and building new ones\n\n* Sharing your knowledge and efforts across projects to build a strong and consistent development platform\n\n* Learning and teaching with weekly dedicated learning sessions\n\n* Be a decent human being (that comes first, actually)\n\n\n\n\nMentoring is also a first-class element at PeopleDoc: depending on the topic and your proficiency, you will be offered to mentor or be mentored.\n\nSkills\n\nJavascript: the more the better\n\nWe have grown to become big fans of the Javascript framework Ember.js. If you don’t know it, we’ll teach you. If you do know it, come share your experience with us. Besides Ember, you must at least be curious about the evolution of plain “vanilla” Javascript.\n\nHTML & CSS: decent knowledge\n\nThe JS tribe and our UI designers collaborate to improve our UI framework every day. You will need some proficiency in HTML and CSS to contribute.\n\nLanguage\n\nAs a member of an international team in an international company, you are required to be able to express yourself in both written and spoken English.\n\nExperience\n\nThis is a Javascript position, the more you know, the better. We are using Ember.js as a main framework, but we’re not expecting you to know it. A strong desire to learn is as welcome as an expertise.\n\nTooling & Methodology\n\nWe are big fans of pair-programming, we dedicate a lot of time to the onboarding of our newest members. Testing is an integral part of our practices and so is peer reviews.\n\nWe strive to build a welcoming and inclusive work environment where building exceptional products comes along with learning continuously and sharing knowledge with the rest of your team and company. Among us, you will be : \n\n\n* Working within a friendly, fast-growing, inclusive, progressive company\n\n* Collaborating with a team of talented designers and developers\n\n* Learning not only how to code but how to build a product\n\n* Encouraged to share your knowledge and learn new skills\n\n\n\n\nWe are also avid learners: during our weekly learning sessions, we exchange on various topics to learn together. We have a very large budget for our library, and we contribute back to the open source projects we love and use. Plus, there’s a conference budget for you to spend.\n\n\nTypical Interview Process:\n\n\n* If your application is selected, a Recruiter will reach out to schedule a phone screen with them.\n\n* If selected to move forward, you will complete a HackerRank Coding Assessment.\n\n* If you pass, you will either move forward to a technical phone call for an additional screening, OR directly to an onsite interview.\n\n* Offer stage.\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
