Overview
We are Basket (trybasket.com) โ a fresh and exciting new approach to save, share and follow the things you love, and the people who love them too. Basket keeps you organised, up to date, and helps you buy better across all shopping categories.
To continue our growth weโre seeking a Senior Flutter Engineer located in London or Auckland. To excel in this role and have a positive impact on our customer success, youโll need strong production experience with Flutter (preferably e-commerce), and a glowing track record building delightful mobile experiences. We have a separate backend team and Basket is already live in production, so your key focus will be scoping and building new features, and maintaining a kickass Flutter codebase for mobile. Some native work will be required in addition to Flutter, so experience with either Swift or Kotlin is essential.
To thrive at Basket, youโll learn quickly, think big, and deliver rock-solid results in a fast-paced startup environment. Youโll balance safe decisions while proactively researching and running code experiments. Youโre someone who embraces collaboration and feedback with open arms. You continuously look for ways to grow yourself, help teammates, and opportunities to make the products you work on stronger. This is a chance to join an innovative team where you will be challenged, and have significant input to shape a product we believe will become a global household name.
How We Work at Basket
At Basket, we work in 2 week development cycles with a clearly defined goal. Weโre inspired by companies like Linear where quality work is more important than quantity of features released. We plan each cycle well ahead of time with team discussions, research and workshops to make sure weโre making informed decisions.
Hereโs how our typical cycle looks
2 weeks before a cycle we plan and define requirements for features
1 week before a cycle we do technical due diligence and write acceptance criteria
During a cycle we write code using test-driven development, test code to development and staging environments, collaborate with QA, Design and PM team members to ensure features are production ready.
What You'll Do
Scope and agree technical requirements for features in collaboration with design, QA and PM team members
Write test-driven Flutter, Dart or Native code to implement feature requirements
Implement animations using Lottie, Rive and Flutter frameworks
Maintain and improve existing code with a focus on stability and performance
Use application monitoring tools to identify new opportunities and fix issues
Explore new opportunities and Flutter features to enhance our user experience
Take security seriously by implementing tools, code and practices that preserve the integrity of our services and protect customer data
About You
Native English is essential
Located in, or willing to relocate to London or Auckland
5+ years experience writing production code for iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin).
Mastery of Flutter and Dart with at least one published app on iOS (App Store Connect) or Android (Play Store)
Excellent knowledge and experience of using Firebase SDK with Flutter
Experience integrating and using third-party packages with Flutter, iOS and Android
Keen eye for good design, and enjoy collaborating with designers to implement modern, intuitive and delightful customer experiences
Intuitively look for ways to keep code modular, efficient, and maintainable
Motivated by working in a team with a flat structure where your knowledge and input have a direct impact on product definition and business success
Excited to learn, share and step outside of your comfort zone
Good To Have
University degree in computer science, or equivalent experience
Experience working in a VC-backed startup environment
