You will be tasked to build a web-based product for developers to deploy their web application simply, with zero configuration.
You are a T-shaped developer who is driven and autonomous.
The deep side of the T is about building the app. You must be able to build a performant, user-friendly and bug-free web app in Go and HTMX.
The broad side of the T is about web frameworks in general: the tool is able to install a wide range of web apps using a wide range of frameworks, so it helps if you know some of (or at least are familiar with) the full tech stack of the most popular languages: Python, PHP, JS.
You need to know how to install a web app on a server in a production-ready state with low traffic (1 request per second) in less than 2 hours, in the tech stack of your choice. You will be asked in detail about that during the interview, but you won't have to actually do it during the interview.
You will communicate you progress with me, and I will discuss the roadmap with you and review your code.
This is a fully async, fully remote position. All interviews will be conducted in written or spoken English.
You need to know (or work around, or learn before starting the contract) the following technologies, most important first:
Go (Golang)
HTMX
Web apps in general
Linux
Nginx or another reverse proxy
SSL (certificates management)
IP stack, firewalling, basic network security
DNS
CSS
Required qualities:
Intelligence
A despise of complexity
Clear communication
Autonomy and initiative
Relentless ressourcefulness
When replying to this offer:
Keep communication concise and to the point.
Tell me why I should choose you for this project and why you can deliver it on time and on budget.

Please, pleasy-please, read and respect the following 5 notes before applying with a single click:
Instead of using the RemoteOK built-in application system where the systems sends the employer a note like "John is interested in this position, click here to see his RemoteOK CV" please just send your CV in PDF format to the following E-Mail address: [email protected]
We'll pay you 1500 EUR per month for 6h per day, Monday to Friday. It's hard to stay focused for 8 hours straight, therefore more than 6h per day don't make sense. You can have other jobs on the side, but not while you're dedicating your daily 6h to Lightup. The 6h must get spent dedicated, continous, without interruption and without doing other tasks at the same time.
You'll find a keyword at the end of this job description. Include it in your E-Mail to us, either in the subject or in the body of your E-Mail, so that we know you're clear about what you're actually applying for vs. just applying for a ton of jobs in a random fashion because that's not cool. E-Mails without the keyword will get ignored.
If there are should be typing or grammar mistakes in your CV we'll already know that you don't pay much attention to detail and in this case you're the wrong candidate for this job.
Thanks for your cooperation, these are some prerequisites to save time on both sides. :-)
Now, about the actual job: Lightup was established in 1998 in Frankfurt, Germany as a Hosting & Domain Provider and today is still a small but international Internet Full-Service & Telephony Service Provider, focusing heavily on web-based telecommunication services (VoIP) since 2011. We're need more developers to create more cool web telecom-related projects and apps. 100% of our team works from remote.
To compensate for the monthly kind of low payment of just 1500 EUR, which may be too low for some parts of the world, we're offering you a quite unique profit sharing model: For every web project that you turn into reality, you'll receive 20% of the profit that this project generates for as long as you stay with Lightup. That way, you'll be also extra motivated to extend the service you just created and keep it running and improve it over time while it's growing, generating you even more profit every month. We love to see our employees happy, and if the company is profiting as a whole, you as an individual should profit from that, too.
We'll create the ideas, and you'll put these projects into reality. Your profile:
You are awesome at working independently and self-sufficient, you are great at researching using Google and AI tools extensively to find the infos you need & to learn.
You could, in theory, build functional websites from scratch without relying on AI or programming tools.
You can write code from scratch using your brain, without AI, and just by using a text editor (if need be).
Coding means actually writing manual code for you, not copy'ing & paste'ing code snippets that you found on the web. To you, coding also doesn't mean dragging objects from A to B in some visual "programming" tool.
In other words, you're a real programmer!
Your skills:
Perfect English & typing proficiency. No typos, no grammar mistakes.
You can create Android apps from scratch, from start to finish, by yourself.
You can handle the Linux shell and you can navigate through a Linux-based filesystem using just command line tools.
You're a master of the programming language(s) of your choice that allow you to create web-projects (PHP, Python, whatever).
You are very good at SQL, you understand the inner workings of e.g. MySQL and thus you know what makes queries slow and what makes them fast.
All of this requires that you already have plenty of experience, if you are new to all of this or if you think AI will be able to handle these requirements for you, then you are not the right candidate.
You have used vi or vim before.
What the job will look like in practice:
We're defining the inner workings and features of the to-be-created web-based service, or app, together.
You'll start at 0 and build these services & apps from the ground up, independently, by yourself.
We'll communicate permanently via Slack.
Here you can find the keyword so that we'll know you actually read until here: Work-in-underpants.
No travelling required, you can do this job from anywhere in the world with a stable, broadband internet connection. External keyboard + external mouse required in case you're working on a laptop, otherwise you would be too slow for what we expect from you.
We are a German company, and precision and speed are key to this role. :-)
And now, we're looking forward to read from you - thank you!

# How do you apply?\n\nThis job post has been closed by the poster, which means they probably have enough applicants now. Please do not apply.
InvergHQ is Hiring a Full Stack Developer as their second technical hire. Theyโll be working directly with the CTO and the other founders. This is an opportunity to be an early hire, work in all parts of the system, and help a fast-growing business go to the next level.\n\n## Who We Are\n\nAt its core, Inverge is a platform that helps brands and wholesalers connect with their retailers and gives everyone the tools they need to sell more easily and efficiently.\n\nOur users are able to have one tool to get their products in the hands of customers anywhere they are with minimal effort. They can dive in deep and run every aspect of their business or just use a single piece. This could be a brand connecting to thousands of retailers across the country for both drop shipping and replenishment, sharing a single uniform catalog, managing all of their warehousing and fulfillment for orders coming from any channel; be that a retailer, B2B website, marketplace, or B2C website. This could also be a small store looking to simplify its inventory management and understand its customers better.\n\nOur existing team is composed of three founders. All are based in the areas surrounding New York City.\n\nSince our soft launch, weโve been able to attract well-known brands and as we gear up for a formal launch and an aggressive marketing/sales initiative, weโre expanding our team.\n\nWe are preparing to grow rapidly and are looking for the right person to join us. This will be a critical role in our technology growth and will work directly with the Co-Founder and CTO.\n\nHaving your hands in all parts of the system, youโll have an opportunity to build a team around you and shape how we serve our users.\n\n## About the Role\n\nThis is an opportunity to face a variety of challenges and find what excites you.\n\nIf you love data, analyzing it, and building algorithms to make peoplesโ lives easier, there are tons of opportunities for that.\n\nIf you love communicating with different APIs and bringing information together, the opportunities are virtually limitless.\n\nIf you love taking things apart and seeing how you can make them work better or simplify things, there is plenty of opportunity for that.\n\nIf you love solving problems we are a team that loves to find the hardest problems and work together to solve them.\n\nOur team is curious and always looking to grow and learn.\n\nYouโll have your hands in the entire system. This will include updating and optimizing existing features, fixing bugs, and developing new features.\n\nYouโll also be critical in our transition to a serverless API-based architecture and will be facilitating that process. Youโll have an important role in implementing the standards and procedures needed for collaboration as we grow our development team.\n\nThe job will start full-time and from the beginning youโll be working closely with the CTO to be trained on the usage of the in-house built PHP MVC dependency injection framework that the main application is built on. Once a fundamental understanding is reached, youโll jump right in on projects that need to be addressed right away which will grow in complexity as their experience grows.\n\nThis hire weโre making will be the second technical member on the team and will play a critical role in the initial growth of the company. Youโll be working with the entire founding team but primarily with the CTO.\n\nIn the beginning, youโll be working primarily with PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery. This will transition into primarily Node.js and Serverless Framework replacing the PHP. To a lesser extent at the beginning, you will also be working with React and React Native. You will be building on AWS using EC2, RDS, Elasticache, Lambda, and API Gateway. The collaboration will happen using Git (Bitbucket), Jira, and Trello.\n\nOur day-to-day direct communication is through Slack and email. We manage projects and the roadmap using Trello and Jira. We manage the codebase using Bitbucket.\n\nThe start date is as soon as possible. We are beginning to scale and need to grow our team to continue the development of and maintain our current platform.\n\n## Projects and Day to Day Work\n\nThere is a significant amount of autonomy. There are clear goals and priorities but the actual implementation and timing are flexible. For the most part, our new hire is expected to be self-motivated and complete their work. Youโll have access to the rest of the team as needed but shouldnโt expect to be babysat as long as their work is being completed.\n\nA majority of your time initially will be spent working on the existing PHP/MySQL application. We have many features that need to be added on an ongoing basis. There are also numerous areas that need optimization or tweaks to simplify support. This will range from developing stand-alone applications such as activity tracking across the entire application to adding an interface for changing the comparison date on a sales dashboard to debugging image ordering in existing API integration to developing an entirely new API integration for managing products, inventory, and orders. That initial work will transition to developing these features in the serverless architecture using Node.js.\n\nWe are in the process of exposing the entire application via API. A major part of this role will be assisting in this transition, slowly swapping out the PHP backend with a new implementation in Node.js. You would be expected to have good fundamentals and ability to code in PHP but primarily be experienced in and interested in Node development.\n\n## Long Term and Growth\n\nIn the long term, this person will be managing a team, setting priorities, and overseeing development.\n\nYou will have the opportunity to work with a variety of languages and frameworks. You will not be expected to know everything but show a track record of being curious and wanting to learn. There will be a lot of opportunities to find the projects that you find the most interesting, be it integrating with different APIs or optimizing AWS infrastructure, or developing Native modules. You are coming into a company with a solid foundation at a time when everything is being looked at for improvement. You will hopefully have a huge say in how things are structured and how projects are prioritized.\n\n## Who You Are\n\nWe are looking for someone who is self-motivated and ready to take initiative. We are not looking for someone who needs to be told what to do on a daily basis. We are looking for someone who loves solving problems but doesnโt always go with the first thing that comes to mind. You also consider how this solution might be able to solve the next problem too while being mindful of when spending more time on something in the short term is appropriate. You will be working in a rapidly changing environment and will not be expected to know everything but be very interested in learning new things. Youโll be expected to have worked on teams in production environments and bring their experience and best practices to aid us in this growth period.\n\n## Required Skills\n\n* PHP\n* Nodejs\n* Typescript\n* MySQL\n* HTML/CSS/jQuery\n* Linux\n\n## Nice to Have Skills\n\n* TypeORM\n* Express\n* React/React Native\n* Serverless\n\n## Required Experience\n\n* API integrations\n* Using existing SDK as well as from the ground up\n* Decent UI/UX skillsโby no means Rembrandt but able to make things logical to use and good to look at\n* Standard Git use\n* Experience deploying and maintaining production applications on AWS\n* EC2\n* RDS\n* ELB\n* S3\n* Lambda\n* API Gateway\n\nBackground in eCommerce or understanding of retail is a big plus. We are always needing to put ourselves in the shoes of our clients to figure out the best way to solve the next problem and if you donโt know what an SKU or a PO is itโll be hard to do that.\n\nLocation: At least a partial day overlap with a standard EST workday.\n\nIf you think youโd be a good fit, weโd love to hear from you!\n\n*Inverge asks respectfully to only apply through the application form and do not email/apply directly to Inverge. Any applications sent directly to Inverge will not be considered. \nLet's start with why we exist.\n\nFleet builds open source software to manage and secure computing infrastructure: employee laptops, cloud servers, and more. Our technology helps IT and security teams build trust within their organization, while getting their jobs done more effectively.\n\nFleet is an all-remote company with experienced founders, including two creators of popular open source projects and a compelling lead investor. Our business model is inspired by the success of GitLab and Elastic, and we have incredible early customers ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies with hundreds of thousands of endpoints.\n\n\nWhat happens when you join us?\n\n\n* As the first senior engineering hire, this position offers huge potential for growth.\n\n* You will write significant open source code, merging commits in your first days at the company.\n\n* You will work closely with the CTO and CEO to define technical and product vision.\n\n* Over time, you will establish yourself as a leader in Fleet's growing team and user community, whether through management or expert-level individual contributions.\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy should you join us?\n\n\n* Work from anywhere with good internet. (We're 100% remote. No office. No commute.)\n\n* Help make endpoint monitoring less intrusive and more transparent.\n\n* Safeguard the production servers and employee laptops of Earth's largest companies.\n\n* Build greenfield features and make key technical decisions that go live in days.\n\n* Most (if not all) of the code you write is public and highly visible at github.com/fleetdm/fleet.\n\n\n\n\n\nAre you our new teammate?\n\n\n* You are competent with source control in Git. You have great written communication skills.\n\n* You can mentor other developers and do code reviews. Maybe you managed open source projects before; maybe you collaborated closely with more junior engineers at work.\n\n* You look forward to working with designers to improve the user experience of stuff you work on.\n\n* You bring senior talent to our team and open source community, with 4+ years of equivalent experience in one or more of the Engineering Foundations below (and interest in digging into the others).\n\n* Nice to have: Experience working on an all-remote, distributed team.\n\n* Nice to have: Experience working in IT operations and/or cybersecurity.\n\n* Nice to have: Experience working with Mobile Device Management (MDM) APIs.\n\n* Nice to have: Experience deploying/monitoring/managing containers with Docker/K8s.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEngineering Foundations\n\nAn ideal senior candidate has 4+ years equivalent experience in one or more of the following three engineering foundations (and interest in digging into the others):\n\nI. Frontend\n\nFleet’s frontend is a single page application (SPA) written in JavaScript with React and Redux. We strive for “convention over configuration”, offering a user experience that helps security and IT staff enjoy their jobs. There are many interesting challenges in helping our users understand the data collected from their laptops and servers.\n\n\n* Experience building and architecting SPAs in JavaScript/Typescript (2+ years of equivalent experience with React specifically.)\n\n* Expert CSS skills (we use Sass)\n\n* Ability to recommend and implement frontend testing patterns (E2E tests, etc.)\n\n* Nice to have: Experience developing responsive applications.\n\n* Nice to have: Familiarity with frontend performance profiling and optimization.\n\n* Nice to have: Experience building data visualizations (graphs, charts, etc.)\n\n* Nice to have: Experience with React Native, Electron.js, or similar.\n\n\n\n\nII. Backend\n\nFleet’s server is written in Go with go-kit. \nDo you feel as excited writing beautiful, fancy code in React.js as you would go exploring pure vanilla JavaScript? Do you think that frameworks and libraries are simply tools at our (optional) disposal, more than a lifestyle to live and die for? Do you like to comfortably sleep at night because the code base is fully covered by tests?\n\nWe are looking for you! Join our Tech Team at VITALS!\n\nVITALS is such a complex app with so many features that we basically get to play with every single type of technology out there. Just thing about everything that has to go right for an app like the Visitor Replays to actually work!\n\nThis is a great opportunity to make substantial impact on our business growth and to have great career perspectives. There's room to grow up in seniority, learn new technologies and even achieve a leadership position around here.\n\nYou will experience the support of an experienced team and the freedom to use your technical expertise and initiative to achieve shared goals. This position requires authentic curiosity and will to learn every day. We focus on quality and maintainability of what we do, in order to maximize the company goals in the long term, while executing urgent tasks with surgical precision when needed. We expect strong organizational skills, critical thinking and enthusiasm for achieving company and self-oriented goals.\n\nWhat we offer\n\n\nWe offer you the opportunity to be part of a team that is not afraid of learning on a everyday basis. You will have the possibility to experiment with new technologies and the freedom to choose your own equipment (high-end Linux or Mac laptops, with UHD external monitors) and software (your favorite IDE or simply Vim if you want).\n\nOur environment is very supportive, where proposals for change and suggestions for improvements are encouraged. In addition, we offer flexible working hours, an informal working environment with flat hierarchy, and competitive salaries. \n\nAs learning is a fundamental part of our style, you can expect to be going to conferences and meetups (when possible), doing workshops and reading books and other technical material in a regular basis.\n\nSkills & Requirements\n\nYour most important skill...\n\n...is that you are open minded and eager to learn new technologies. You receive and give honest feedback and criticism, never taking it to the personal level, but as a fundamental part of achieving excellency.\n\nVITALS has two Frontend components:\n\n- The Storefront: that loads on tens of thousands of stores and delivers the 40+ apps in VITALS. The key here is to deliver apps that are extremely efficient, with 80%+ of traffic coming from mobile. This part is written entirely in TypeScript, with top focus on clean code and full test coverage.\n\n- The UserAdmin: we are currently rewriting this from scratch on a bleeding edge React.js/Redux SPA architecture. This is our main React application and the one you'll be working the most when in React world. Other UI apps are also maintained and built using different frameworks for internal purposes, such as the admin/management interfaces and some others. We love what we've built so far and we think you'll love it too!\n\nResponsibilities\n\n\n* Code according to industry and team standards, adhering to good practices\n\n* Write maintainable, readable code with extensive test coverage, ideally applying TDD\n\n* Producing interfaces that work in every modern browser, with mobile-first in mind applying cross-browser testing strategies\n\n* Work with source control, dev/stage/prod release cycle and continuous integration\n\n* Get actively involved in the code and functional reviews of fellow developer’s work\n\n* Be able to spot logic and functional issues and effectively communicate feedback\n\n* Actively engage with team members to discuss backlog items, design issues and best coding practices\n\n* Take part into technical planning, project breakdown and estimation rounds\n\n* Create technical documentation for internal and external use\n\n* Optimize application for maximum performance, scalability and maintainability\n\n* Working and interacting with RESTful APIs\n\n\n\n\nSkills & Experience\n\nMandatory:\n\n\n* Frontend development, with focus on excellent pure JavaScript and full proficiency in React.js/Redux architecture for SPAs\n\n* Passion for tested software: unit testing, automated tests, TDD\n\n* You eat HTML and CSS for breakfast\n\n* Interest on the current web standards and the latest browser updates\n\n* You can't imagine how to code without Git\n\n* Good knowledge about Webpack, Babel and other common build tools (and their problems...)\n\n* Linux, Bash & command line feels like home to you\n\n* Good knowledge of HTTP and RESTful APIs\n\n* Adherence to good practices and standards\n\n* Focus on quality, maintainability, readability, scalability and performance\n\n* Likes to work in an international, multicultural team\n\n* Enjoys pair programming, code reviews and knowledge sharing\n\n* Good English skills (written and verbal)\n\n\n\n\nGood to have:\n\n\n* Database knowledge (SQL and NoSQL)\n\n* Jest, Sinon, Chai, Enzyme, Cypress\n\n* Understanding of webworkers and service workers\n\n* Code splitting and bundling\n\n* SEO and crawling concepts are familiar to you\n\n* Some understanding or curiosity about other frameworks/libraries\n\n* Some knowledge of Node.js\n\n* Microservices architecture\n\n* Backend programming languages (Python, Elixir, Go, Rust, PHP, etc)\n\n* AWS, Ansible & Terraform\n\n* Continuous Integration\n\n* Docker & Kubernetes\n\n* Scrum, Kaban\n\n* Jira, Confluence\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
