Apollo is hiring a

Remote Data Platform Engineer

\nAre you a talented and driven platform engineer, with a proven track record, capable of leading cross-organizational features? Can you wrangle a CTE with DBT and ELT like you would a BLT? (that last one is a sandwich) Does tech debt quiver in its boots at the sound of your name? Do you butter your bread with evented systems? Have the letters C, Q, R, and S been ruined for you in an eventually consistent manner? If so, weโ€™ve got news for you: youโ€™re not alone!\n\n\nWe are building a best-in-class Data practice and looking for a Data Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering org, and partner with our Data Science, and broader engineering teams. Our work is broad and varied, collecting data on how our product works (e.g. user needs, product friction, product adoption across multiple user personas), understanding how our business works (helping provide the platform that forecasts key outcomes, builds strategic KPIs), empowering our go-to-market motions (designing growth experiments, optimizing marketing investments, refining sales processes, and estimating causal effects), and everything in between. While we have built out a solid data lake/warehouse, our next step is to leverage this data and drive high impact by enabling the right strategic decisions for our product, business and users.\n\n\nYou'll get the chance to hone your skills alongside some of the best Platform Engineers (think SRE meets Ops with a heavy focus on automation of everything). Your teammates are talented folks who value code that is 80% of the value for 20% of the work, designs that are forward-thinking enough to be easily flexible for the next features, and leadership with a healthy dose of mindfulness and humility.\n\n\nAbout Apollo\nToday, GraphQL is rapidly emerging as the next generation API technology of choice to unify data access across a wide range of data sources and deliver business value. Apolloโ€™s GraphOS platform helps API platform developers around the world build and operate their data access layers, at scale. It is used in production by some of today's largest and most innovative companies including Netflix, Expedia, Peloton, DoorDash, The New York Times, and many more. GraphOS fundamentally democratizes data and accelerates business transformation.\n\n\nData at Apollo will be challenging. First, any type of user may be engaged across a wide surface area of products, spanning their CLI, code editors, as well as Apolloโ€™s logged-in experience, integration points, collaboration workflows, and more. Second, the notion of success changes over time for our users, spanning from creating a rich local development experience, to building a proof-of-concept, to scaling their supergraph across the entire organization, utilizing Apollo Router in production use cases and ensuring performance and reliability across thousands of services. Third, when organizations adopt GraphOS, it often leads to a fundamental reshaping of how teams work together, and we believe there are ways to help customers be 10x more effective in this transformation.\n\n\nWho You Are\nYou care deeply about working effectively across cross functional teams to land outcomes. Youโ€™re fundamentally excited to be a part of building the infrastructure of the future. You have an insatiable curiosity, humility and drive to hone your craft. You work with a growth mindset โ€“ the work is never done and thereโ€™s something to learn from everyone. You think about weighing technical and business trade-offs and are working at โ€œseeing down the road and around corners.โ€ You enjoy cross-team collaboration and believe in a โ€œrising tides lifts all boatsโ€ mentality. Youโ€™re a joy to those around you, bringing everyone along for the ride. You are data-oriented and have leveraged data to make decisions in a concrete way.\n\n\n\nWhat You'll Do\n* Become a key contributor to the team, taking responsibility for the success of various subsystems.\n* Participate in medium to large impact team initiatives and, within a year, lead the execution of such projects.\n* Assist with interviewing potential teammates.\n* Create technical designs that proactively address cost efficiency, security, and observability.\n* Deliver technical plans, one-pagers, DRs, and other artifacts.\n* Work with tools and technologies like BigQuery, Airflow, Kafka, DBT, Fivetran, Hashboard, Hightouch, Kubernetes, GCP, Helm, Terraform, DataDog, ArgoCD, CircleCI, Atlantis, Docker (and more) to deliver your work.\n* Be responsible for measurably improving data access across the company.\n\n\n\nWhat You Bring\n* 5+ years of experience in data platform engineering, platform engineering, data science, analytics, or a related field.\n* Expertise in systems architecture with experience in stateless, fault-tolerant systems and familiarity with event-driven patterns and distributed paradigms.\n* Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and executing large-scale data projects.\n* Proficiency with SQL, GitOps, DBT, BigQuery, Kafka, Postgres, and ELT Data Pipelines.\n* A builder's mindset with a willingness to question assumptions and challenge conventional wisdom.\n\nBonus Points For:\n* Experience with cloud platforms (preferably GCP, but AWS or Azure is great too!).\n* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and observability tools like DataDog, ArgoCD, CircleCI, and Atlantis.\n* Experience working with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, Helm, and Kubernetes.\n* Knowledge of cost efficiency, security, and observability best practices in data platforms.\n* Experience with Fivetran, Hightouch, and GraphQL.\n* Knowledge of Docker and other containerization technologies.\n\n\n\n\n\n$126,650 - $160,175 a year\n\nApollo is the worldwide leader of GraphQL innovation. Companies like Netflix, Expedia, Peloton, DoorDash, The New York Times, and PayPal are just a small sample of Apollo's customers. Our open-source product has millions of downloads every week. Gartner estimates that by 2025, 50% of companies will be using GraphQL, and we're the clear market leader.\n\n\n\n\nCompensation: In addition to the salary range above, we also provide equity and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and country.\n\n\nBenefits: Apollo offers all US-based employees a choice of 3 Anthem Blue Cross medical plans. California residents can also choose from 2 Kaiser plans. Dental is provided by Delta Dental and vision by VSP.\n\n\nLocation: This is a remote position that can be done from anywhere in the US or Canada.\n\n\nEqual Opportunity: Apollo is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace dedicated to pursuing and hiring a talented and diverse workforce.\n\n\nPrivacy: California residents applying for positions at Apollo can see our privacy policy here.\n\n\nApollo is an E-Verify employer and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. For more information please visit E-Verify. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to GraphQL, Docker, Cloud, API, Marketing, Sales and Engineer jobs that are similar:\n\n $60,000 — $80,000/year\n

๐Ÿ‘‰ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!

Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. Remote Senior Machine Learning Engineer

\nKraken is the technology tentacle of the Octopus Energy Group. \n\n\nOur team\n\n\nAll our technology is written and maintained by a multi-discipline engineering team of around 600 people globally. Our engineers work in โ€˜super teamsโ€™ which are focused on key areas of our platform as well as other innovative products. This also includes server-side, client-side and mobile engineers working closely with UX experts, copywriters and designers. \n \nTeams are empowered to choose a way of working that works for them, often opting for a Kanban-like approach. Notion and Asana are then used to specify and manage work; Github, CircleCI and Terraform Enterprise as part of an immutable-infrastructure, continuous delivery pipeline; and Datadog, Sentry and Cloudwatch to measure performance and monitor production. \n\n\nWeโ€™re now charging Kraken to power utilities beyond energy (think water, broadband,..) and have created a new business Kraken Utilities. We are building an innovation (ML/Data/AI) team from scratch and are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join and help us scale, implement a good culture, and work on some really exciting tech challenges. \n \nYou'll join a small team working on research around how to help prevent water leakage (think domestic water usage trends, leak detection software, smart meter data trends etc). You'll also get the chance to work on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs) to build things like message generating systems.\n \nSome of our coding conventions are open-source . \n \nKraken is a great place to learn, work with some talented engineers and level-up your skills.  \n \nOur technology\n\n\nOur Data/ML stack includes: Python, SQL, pandas, Numpy, AWS, PyTorch, TensorFlow, NLP. \n\n\nOn the server-side, we mainly use Python. Most of our websites are powered by Django, Django-REST-framework and GraphQL (Graphene).  \n \nWe use AWS heavily  as part of a continuous deployment pipeline. Explore and evaluate new technologies to inspire the creation of new ML products and enhance existing ones\n* Conduct A/B experiments in collaboration with other teams, analyse results, and iterate to drive continuous improvement\n* Embrace ambiguity. As we scale, your role will evolve, and you should be comfortable adapting to changing responsibilities and focus areas\n\n\n\nWhat you'll need\n* You have a proven track record with 5+ years of hands-on experience applying machine learning to real-world business challenges within an industry setting\n* A solid foundation in the fundamentals of machine learning is a must. You are proficient in exploratory data analysis, model selection, model pipeline development, and the end-to-end process of model deployment and monitoring\n* Demonstrated expertise in Python, SQL, and common ML, DL and visualisation libraries such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, tensorflow/pytorch, matplotlib etc.\n* Experienced in cloud technologies, preferably with AWS\n* Strong communication skills are essential. An organisation where people learn, decide, and build quicker. Where people work with autonomy, alongside a wide range of amazing co-owners, on projects that break new ground. We're looking for skills and experience to help shape and define the future of not only our team, but the wider business at a global scale. If you're reading this and grinning, please apply! There are huge challenges to tackle, and we need amazing people who are keen to get stuck in.\n\n\n\n\nIf this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you. \n\n\nStudies have shown that some groups of people, like women, are less likely to apply to a role unless they meet 100% of the job requirements. Tribes.AI is hiring a

Remote Senior Data Engineer

###**ABOUT THE JOB**\n\nWe are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to become a core member of our team and to help us wrangle a super interesting dataset with millions of work interactions all loaded into one massive graph database! \n\nThe successful candidate should have a passion for data engineering and the ability to innovate - there will be no instructions booklet, it's up to you and the team to develop a new cutting edge application from scratch while following software engineering best practice. However, above all else, you should enjoy working independently in a startup environment with all the pros and cons that that entails. You would be filling a key senior role in our young team which we think requires at least 4-5 years of hands on data engineering experience but we are known to have made exceptions if we really like someone!\n\n###**RESPONSIBILITIES**\n\nYour job responsibilities would include: \n* Development, automation and scaling of our data pipeline \n* Implement established best practice where appropriate, innovate where not \n* Identify, design and implement process improvements (i.e. automate manual processes, re-design infrastructure, etc) \n* Mentor junior data engineers \n\n###**ABOUT US**\n\n[Tribes.AI](https://tribesai.recruitee.com/) is a new startup aiming to help build strong high-performance teams with advanced analytics.\n\nTeams today produce a huge amount of data via everyday activities (emails, meetings, chats, files, tasks, code, etc) that can be mined for trends. This data provides powerful insights into team performance and helps management make more informed decisions about their employees, teams, and clients.\n\nThe management team at Tribes.AI has already successfully built and sold a large data consulting company, Datalicious. As a result, we understand how valuable our team members are, and how to build working teams that produce results no matter what timezone you are in. We value skilled employees who are at the top of their game, who want to take ownership, and who want to grow with us.\n\nIf you want to research us some more, we suggest you check out our current team on [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/company/tribes-ai/), what they say on [Glassdoor](https://www.glassdoor.com.au/Overview/Working-at-Tribes-AI-EI_IE2343319.11,20.htm), and our funding progress on [Crunchbase](https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/tribes-ai).\n\n###**OUR PERKS**\n\nAll team members are offered the following perks: \n* Flexible working hours (i.e. we don't care when you work, within reason, as long as the work gets done) \n* Working from home (i.e. we don't care from where you work, whatever makes you most productive) \n* Working from home expenses (i.e. we pay for your home Internet and any other reasonable expenses) \n* New laptop via EMI purchase (i.e. you buy it and own it but you can expense the monthly repayments) \n* Unlimited leave (i.e. we don't count days off so take as many as you need as long as the work gets done) \n* Training courses (i.e. we want you to keep learning so we pay for relevant courses and give you time off) \n* Share options plan (i.e. once you're past probation you will get access to our employee share options plan) \n* Opportunity to fast track your career with our highly motivated team\n\n###**TECHNICAL SKILLS**\n\nTo be successful, you would need the following skills: \n* Excellent problem-solving skills are a must-have \n* Solid hands-on experience with Apache Airflow is a must-have \n* Experience developing and maintaining distributed system is another must-have \n* Solid understanding of software engineering standards, methods and design principles is a must-have \n* Hands-on experience with Google Kubernetes would be a big plus \n* Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform tools in general is a bonus \n* Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j would be nice \n* Understanding of GraphQL APIs would also be helpful along the line \n\n###**SOFT SKILLS**\n\nAll our team members should be:\n* Capable of working with almost no supervision (i.e. be self-driven, able to organize their own tasks, QA their own work and spot their own errors, explore new approaches, manage time frames/deadlines, etc) \n* Great written and spoken communicators (i.e. solid written and spoken English skills, efficiently use of instant messaging and other remote team platforms, ability to document code/tasks, know when to bother other people with their own problems, etc) \n* Team workers with a strong collaborative attitude (i.e. interest in other team member's challenges, ready to help with constructive suggestions unasked, never make any fuss about other people's mistakes, positive can-do attitude all around, etc) \n* Obsessed with perfection and driven by a constant need to optimize (i.e. always wanting to look for a way of doing things even better than they already are, etc) \n* Hungry for knowledge and passionate about their chosen discipline in the right way (i.e. not merely applying the most fancy algorithms or tools but instead the ones best suited to solve the business problem at hand) \n* Committed as in ready to stay with us for the long run (i.e. recruitment, on-boarding, and training are extremely time-consuming tasks we do not want to go through time and time again) \n\nPlease mention the words **GLOW LOGIC CARGO** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4yNTA=). This is a feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n $20,000 — $50,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nWorldwide
# How do you apply?\n\n[CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION](https://tribesai.recruitee.com/o/senior-data-engineer-global-remote/c/new)\n\n###**Please do NOT apply if**\n* You do not know how to write optimized code efficiently (i.e. fast) \n* You do not have experience managing infrastructure to support pipelines \n* You do not feel comfortable working for a startup \n* You do not believe in what Tribes.AI is doing

We thrive on learning from each other. Our team has been globally remote from the start, so we have the infrastructure to support flexible work arrangements.\n\nOur backend team is responsible for the core of our [Elixir-based system](https://elixir-lang.org/blog/2020/11/17/real-time-collaboration-with-elixir-at-slab/) providing APIs for both our frontend and our clients. You will architect, implement, and scale crucial components, such as our real-time collaboration service and [integration](https://slab.com/integrations/) service, to fulfill our users' needs.\n\nOur founders came from YC, Salesforce and Airbnb. We are backed by top-tier investors, including Matrix Partners, CRV, and NEA. We empower our teammates with the most leveraged tools and efficient processes.\n- Default to open: We encourage and nurture open exchanges of knowledge and ideas โ€” while acting with respect and regard for each other.\n- Think rigorously: We act and execute after careful thought and examination of known information, while acknowledging the risks we accept in its absence.\n- Say no: We aim to deliver exceptionally high value in a small set of focus areas. We willingly abstain from good ideas to give only the most promising paths the attention they deserve.\n- The best prevails: Whether an idea or an individual, the best will rise to the top at Slab. Ideas we pursue can come from anywhere, and individuals gain responsibilities due to outperformance.\n- Global optimization: We believe that our mission โ€” to make the workplace a source of learning and purpose โ€” is the ultimate priority, above any single project, team, or individual.\n\n# Benefits\n\n- Flexible work arrangements\n- Medical, dental, and vision insurance\n- Generous equity offer\n- 7-year option exercise window\n- $5k desk setup of your choice\n\n\n_Slab is an equal opportunity employer.
