Job description
We are looking for an experienced (6+ years) Node.js engineer with a track record of delivering good products, a passion for sharing knowledge and who enjoys a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
What you will do
As a person, you are very hands-on and enjoy getting things done while understanding that we win as a team. As a senior, you take an active role in growing our team's capabilities both in terms of skills, best practices and architectural decisions.
We build our backend using reliable tools that our team knows and trusts, including Node.js, Express, Typescript, MySQL, ElasticSearch and Redis.

Job requirements
Must-haves
6 years of experience with software development and Node.js.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
Deep understanding of relational database systems, specifically MySQL.
Understanding NoSQL Datastores such as ElasticSearch, Redis and MongoDB is a plus.
Experience building scalable, performant, and modular solutions.
Clear and concise communication skills.
You have to be based in the EU. Alas, we're not set up to hire outside of the EU since we believe that it's imperative that we meet in person once in a while.
At least one year of remote experience is required if you prefer to work remotely.

We're looking for an experienced full-time (or part-time) Software Engineer to join our engineering team. Someone who has a solid understanding of web technologies and wants to help design, implement, launch, and scale major systems and user-facing features.
You should have senior level experience (~5 years) building modern back-end systems, with at least 3 years of that experience using Python.
You have hands on production experience woking with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, or similar data stores. You have significant experience designing, scaling, debugging, and optimizing systems to make them fast and reliable. You have experience participating in code reviews and providing overall code quality suggestions to help maintain the structure and quality of the codebase. You care about the craftsmanship of the code and systems you produce.
You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a small and talented team where you're supported in your efforts to grow professionally. You are able to manage your time well, communicate effectively and collaborate in a fully distributed team.

Reporting to the Director of Backend Engineering, you will lead a small team of Python engineers, helping them solve technical challenges, project planning and providing other support as needed to help them build our backend services. Your team will split its time working on a combination of (a) general backend projects to improve our product, and (b) specific focus areas assigned to your team.

Data storage systems including traditional SQL and NoSQL databases as well as advanced indexing/searching technologies (Mongo, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch)
Reporting and Business Intelligence systems (custom implementations using Elasticsearch plugins, SQL window functions and other analytical techniques)
Messaging and queuing systems (Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL)
