Our customers rely on our AI to ensure consistent and high-quality writing on a global scale.\n\nWe're looking for a generally nice and smart person Java Software Engineer, based in Europe working remotely, or from our headquarters in Berlin, Germany.\n\n\n\nYou and Your Role\n\n\n* You’re a developer by heart.\n\n* Java is a programming language that you happily use and you’re familiar with the tools.\n\n* You don’t have to have a fully developed skill set, but you have an interest in quickly learning new stuff.\n\n* You’ve heard of Site Reliability Engineering and care about how your code behaves in production.\n\n* You’d primarily write Java for our backend services and also take responsibility for getting your code out there to production.\n\n* You enjoy DevOps and automation to increase integration and delivery efficiency.\n\n\n\n\nYou choose the developing tools and computer environment that you’re most comfortable with.\nYou have a knack for building the right product, modeling the right entities, or coming up with the best abstractions and concepts possible. You engage with your team in discussions. You can follow discussions in English well. You’re someone who enjoys sharing knowledge with teammates, asking for help, and providing support when they need it.\n\nYour communication skills will be as important as your technical ones as collaborating remotely requires constant, clear communication and coordination. We use collaboration tools such as GitLab, Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, Confluence, and conference calls.\n\nMaybe you’ve experience with tools like Maven, Gradle, or Git, with deployments to Kubernetes and a public cloud like AWS, Azure, or GCP. Or maybe you’re familiar with Linux, GitLab, React, or one of the other 300+ open-source libraries that we use? Cool, we’re sure you’ll get a chance to apply your skills.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe core of our product is a linguistic engine, which analyzes written text—not just for spelling and grammar but also for good style and consistency. Just look at our list of happy customers, which include Google, Facebook, Microsoft, IBM, and Adobe. We also have customers of comparable size and impact in other industries such as the healthcare, manufacturing, and automotive.\n\nNote: Due to Covid-19 interviewing, onboarding, and work will be fully remote to begin with. We’re committed to make this process go as smoothly as possible under these difficult conditions and support you with getting set-up and going.\n\n\nAcrolinx is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any kind based on race, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, genetic information, pregnancy, or any other protected characteristic as outlined by federal, state, or local laws. ## About us\n\nWe're a Swedish digital agency, specialized in building digital products and services for businesses of all sizes within both the private and public sectors. With our experienced, multidisciplinary team, we help our clients realize their projects from the early stages of ideation to prototypes, implementation, and post-production. Our ambition is to build a team with substantial experience and passion within their respective fields.\n\nWeโ€™ve been a remote-first company for over eight years. Our team is currently all based in Europe, but we've had colleagues from all parts of the world, over the years: from the Dominican Republic all the way to South Korea and Bali.\n\n[Read more on www.oddcamp.com](https://www.oddcamp.com)\n\n## JOB TYPE\n\nFull time\n40 hours/week\n\n## LOCATION\nRemote\n\n## ABOUT YOU\n\n- You're a true professional who loves what you're doing;\n- You have a chronic thirst for knowledge and want to be a leading force in your field;\n- You have 3+ years of work experience in a similar role;\n- You are fluent in English and have excellent verbal and written communication skills;\n- You play well with others but are just as comfortable working on your own if needed;\n- You understand the choices you make in your work can help shape the world around you.\n\n## YOUR ROLE\n\nAs a Back End Ruby developer, you will be working in a team alongside, project leads, developers, and designers building and maintaining a diverse set of technical projects for our clients. How often and how long varies.\n- Overtime is our enemy and should not exist. You work 9-5, 8โ€“4, 10โ€“6, or whatever suits you. \nWe are looking for a skilled and passionate Back End Software Engineer to join our Tech Team to build and scale effective software solutions. We are in need of an enthusiastic self-starter with deep expertise in complex back end structures capable of working with different integrated systems.\n\nWhat We Do\n\nWe work with niche companies in the US, Canada, the UK to restructure and automate their operation so that their businesses can grow 5-10x. We do that by effectively analyzing their business, streamlining their processes, and designing an effective automation solution that we then implement on our robust IT stack.\n\nWe make extensive use of technologies that help us accomplish results with less work — making everyone inside of our global organization more effective. \n\nWe heavily leverage: \n\n\n* \n\nAmazon AWS's serverless technologies and microservices for our front-end, back-end, and mobile apps (Lambda, Amplify, Cognito, S3, etc.).\n\n\n* \n\nZoho's CRM and ERP Tools (Desk, Books, etc.).\n\n\n* \n\nVonage/Nexmo-based telephony and communications solutions (Vonage Business Phone, Nexmo Voice/SMS, OpenTalk, etc.).\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are always looking for new technologies and welcome team members adding things to our technology stack so we can deliver more results more effectively. \n\nWhat You Will Do\n\nAs an Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering the solution as per requirements put together by our Creative and Business Analysis Teams. Depending on your level, you will be responsible for either the entire project (with other engineers working in your project team) or for a part of it.\n\nYour ultimate deliverable will be to effectively build a solution that will be implemented in the client's business and run successfully going forward.\n In doing so, you will:\n\n\n* Design and architect complex solutions involving web apps, custom CRM/ERP's, programmable telephony, and other external systems.\n\n\n\n* Deliver and implement your solutions.\n\n\n\n* Create effective monitoring of the solutions for effective usage and scalability.\n\n\n\n* Work with other back end and front end developers on the team to deliver the overall solution.\n\n\n\n* Do anything else you deem necessary to accomplish your result.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRequirements\n You are:\n\n\n* \n\nResponsible and driven by results.\n\n\n* \n\nGenuinely interested in technology.\n\n\n* \n\nWilling to learn, grow, and admit mistakes.\n\n\n* \n\nAble to communicate with other people on the project's team effectively.\n\n\n\n\n\nYou have:\n\n\n* \n\nA solid knowledge of Node.js-based back end technologies.\n\n\n* \n\nExperience with complex SQL and NoSQL databases.\n\n\n* \n\nExperience with different APIs and complex integrations between systems, that we use all the time.\n\n\n* \n\nEffective written and verbal English to communicate with our international team.\n\n\n* \n\nBasic understanding of DevOps and SDLC to cooperate with other developers in building the product.\n\n\n\n\n\nWill be a good plus:\n\n\n* \n\nExperience with Amazon AWS, serverless technologies, and microservices on its platform.\n\n\n* \n\nExperience with CRM and ERP systems such as Zoho and others.\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat We Offer\n\n\n* \n\nResults-Focused Approach to Work\n\n\n\n\n\nWe do not look at people's activities, the number of lines of code written, etc., as the measure of success. We look strictly at the results in effectively delivered products. \n\n\n\n\n* \n\nResults Based Compensation Schedule\n\n\n\n\n\nThere is base pay and project bonus pay. Base pay varies significantly by the Engineer's level of ability and responsibility (Lead/Associate/Assistant) that the Engineer takes on projects - this level is reassessed after every project that the Engineer completes. Projects upon completion are rewarded with a bonus - bonus depends on the delivery of all requirements assigned to the Engineer, timeliness of delivery, rate of errors, and the amount of management attention needed in the project. Engineers who can deliver functional solutions that match requirements quickly and with little management action to correct errors get the best rewards and promotions in the organization.\n\n\n\n\n* \n\nFreely Arranged Schedule\n\n\n\n\n\nYou decide when you want to work. What we expect from you are results. There is a daily stand-up call — but outside of it, you can manage your schedule as you prefer.\n\n\n\n\n* \n\nWork as an Engineer, Not Just a Coder\n\n\n\n\n\nOur Engineers work to build solutions and not just to write code. You will have freedom in how you want to architect the solutions you are making and we will heavily encourage initiative on your part.\n\n\n\n\n* \n\nGrowth Within Our Organization\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are a dynamic and growing organization with a team spread around multiple continents. If you prove yourself as a responsible, driven and motivated individual, there will be opportunities for you to lead projects and manage tech teams.\n\nOur candidate selection process is designed to assess people strictly by their merit. We do not make you go through a long round of interviews, instead, we follow a straight-forward sequence:\n\n\n\n1. Job Application Form.\n\n2. Online Skills Assessment.\n\n3. Interview.\n\n4. Paid Practical Assignment.\n\n5. Knack's goal is to democratize data and make it easy for for anyone to unlock the power of their data with apps, workflows, and integrations.\n\nWe're hiring a AWS/DevOps/SRE engineer to help us build, manage, and optimize a container-based infrastructure for deploying thousands of database-driven applications.\n\nThis role can encompass multiple titles like DevOps, SRE, and Systems Engineering. Weโ€™re less interested in conforming to a specific title, and more interested in a passion for using systems and infrastructure to help build a great product.\n\nRegardless of title, the following are core responsibilities:\n* Manage and improve our AWS infrastructure, implementing best practices, evaluating AWS offerings, and deploying infrastructure resources.\n* Develop processes to scale and automate our infrastructure using container-based systems.\n* Monitoring hundreds of instances: database servers, API servers, custom servers... you name it!\n* Reduce barriers for engineers to deploy and optimize systems.\n\nIn addition, thereโ€™s room to make a major impact in multiple areas:\n* Help optimize for security, speed, and redundancy across all points of the AWS stack.\n* Build tools and processes to help us detect and respond to operational issues more quickly.\n* Increase performance visibility by working on our metrics and logging infrastructure.\n* Improve and optimize resource monitoring and emergency response handling.\n\nWeโ€™re not expecting expertise in each category. Youโ€™ll be working with a team of full-stack engineers that are willing and able to collaborate and participate in this work. Ultimately weโ€™re looking for someone who has a passion for quickly leveraging and optimizing new technology, implementing best practices, and building world-class systems at scale.\n\n**Our stack**\n* AWS - weโ€™ve drunk the kool-aid and use AWS across the board.\n* Salt, Sensu, Graylog, Elasticsearch - provisioning, monitoring, and logging\n* Node.js - APIs and backend development\n* Kubernetes, Docker, ECS - tentative container exploration\n* MariaDB, MongoDB, Solr, Redis - data persistence\n* Github, Jenkins, Ghost Inspector, Mocha - deployment and testing\n\n**How we work**\n* Execute: this isn't a management position. This means you'll be executing your craft and shipping improvements every day.\n* Contribute: we want our engineers to make an impact on the Knack product. This means you're not just implementing otherโ€™s specifications. Youโ€™re developing ideas, making suggestions, and keeping on top of new tech to understand opportunities.\n* Engage: we expect a high level of engagement with decision-making, specifications, and consensus. You'll be expected to propose ideas, defend them, and contribute feedback to others.\n* Learn and grow: we do code-reviews, pair-programming, lunch-and-learns, and use every opportunity to teach and learn.\n\n**Remote**\nOur work is 100% remote. We use GitHub, Slack, Trello, Google Docs and Google Hangouts to get our work done. As a remote company we optimize around asynchronous communication. We also realize that in-person communication is often going to be the most effective means to get something done.\n\n**About You**\nAbove all, you build things. You have a history of starting --and completing-- projects, whether thatโ€™s products, applications, games, libraries, or plugins.\n\nYouโ€™re both a teacher and a learner. Youโ€™re not afraid to admit when someone may know more than you. You have the confidence to help others level up.\n\nYouโ€™re an outstanding communicator. You can document a problem, and clearly and succinctly outline a solution. Youโ€™re not afraid to distill things into plain English for teammates and customers.\n\nYou have experience working in fast-paced environments, prioritizing and balancing multiple projects, and working with cross-functional teams.\n\nYou want to work on a product you can be proud of that impacts thousands of people all over the world, from non-profits to the worldโ€™s biggest companies.\n\nYou go all in. You want to do your best work, and have that work make an impact.\n\n**This isnโ€™t for everyone, but for the right fit this will be the definitive experience of your career. Our goal will be to ensure you are driven and supported to continuously grow and do your best work.**\n\nMore info: https://knack.com/about\nWorking at Knack: https://knack.com/work-at-knack\nApply: https://www.knack.com/devops \n\nPlease mention the words **BREEZE POSSIBLE CLIENT** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMTguMjE5LjE1MS4yNDk=). \nWe are looking for a DevOps and Python developer to join our engineering team. The backend developers are responsible for developing our Django and Flask based APIs and the microservices that together make up our cloud based platform. The backend team is also responsible for the infrastructure code (Terraform) and deployment pipeline (CircleCI + Docker + AWS). The entire engineering team shares responsibility for monitoring, debugging and on-call rotation.\n\nWe believe developers should take ownership of their code from planning to release, making sure it stays performant and reliable. We release code by pushing to Github from where our CD pipeline takes over. We also encourage open source involvement and take time to contribute changes back upstream when we make improvements to our dependencies.\n\nIt’s an exciting time to join the company as we’re just about to release the next generation of Load Impact, built on top of our new open source load generator, called k6, which is written in Go and scriptable in ES6 JS.\n\nWe are a small team and value team players with good communication skills. We have an agile way of working where collaboration, feedback and trust are important aspects. We try to minimize meetings and work asynchronously using Trello, Github, CircleCI and Slack. We have a policy of working from the office two days a week, and the other three you’re free to work from home or wherever you feel most productive.\n\nThis position is for our office located in Stockholm, Sweden.\n\nAt Load Impact English is the default language, we are made up of people from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Russia, Spain, Sweden and the US. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to DevOps, English, Cloud, Python and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n
