Remote Senior AI Engineer Python & LLM Engineer

Are you a talented Senior AI Engineer looking for a remote job that lets you show your skills and get decent compensation? Look no further than Lemon.io โ€” the marketplace that connects you with hand-picked startups in the US and Europe.

What we offer:

  • The rate depends on your skills and experience. We've already paid out over $11M to our engineers.
  • No more hunting for clients or negotiating rates โ€” let us handle the business side of things so you can focus on what you do best.
  • We'll manually find the best project for you according to your skills and preferences.
  • Choose a schedule that works best for you. Itโ€™s possible to communicate async or minimally overlap within team working hours.
  • We respect your seniority so you can expect no micromanagement or screen trackers.
  • Communicate directly with the clients. Most of them have technical backgrounds. Sounds good, yeah?
  • We will support you from the time you submit the application throughout all cooperation stages.
  • Most of our projects involve working in a fast-paced startup environment. We hope you like it as much as we do.
  • Through our community, we will connect you with the best developers from more than 50 countries.

Requirements - Senior AI Engineer:

  • 3+ years of commercial experience applying AI to practical technology solutions
  • A solid understanding of Python is a must; experience with other programming languages commonly used in AI is a plus
  • Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure is required
  • Experience with large language models (LLMs) is mandatory
  • 2+ years of commercial experience with OpenAI technologies is required

  • 5+ years of commercial experience with Python.
  • Experience with large language models (LLMs) is required.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong technical skills: as a Senior Engineer, you are expected to be able to create projects from scratch and have a deep understanding of application architecture.
  • Clear and effective communication in English โ€” advanced ability to discuss business tasks, justify decisions, and communicate issues. Good self-presentation is also essential for upcoming client calls.
  • Strong self-organizational skills โ€” ability to work full-time remotely with no supervision.
  • Reliability โ€” we want to trust you and expect that you wonโ€™t let us and the client down.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility โ€” the ability to onboard the project promptly after accepting it and start delivering results quickly.

Sounds good for you? Apply now and join the Lemon.io community!

Just apply, and we will share more details with you.

If your experience matches our requirements, be ready for the next steps:

  • VideoAsk โ€” watch a short video about our startup, up to 10 minutes
  • Complete your profile on our website
  • 30-minute screening call
  • Technical interview
  • Feedback
  • Magic Box (we are looking for the best project for you).

P.S. We work with developers from 50+ countries in different regions: Europe, LATAM, the U.S., Asia (Philippines, Indonesia), Oceania (Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea), Canada, and the UK. However, we have some exceptions.

At the moment, we donโ€™t have a legal basis to accept applicants from the following countries:

How do you apply?

Apply for this job

๐Ÿ‘‰ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!

When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site. Remote OK accepts no liability or responsibility as a consequence of any reliance upon information on there (external sites) or here.

[AยทTeam](https://build.a.team/remoteok) is a VC-backed, stealth, application-only platform for senior software builders to team up with the best companies on their next big thing. After talking with hundreds of independent engineers, designers, and product folks, we know that consistently finding vetted, high-quality clients is hard, and projects are often too small to be rewarding. AยทTeam matches small teams of the most talented builders in the world with companies backed by a16z, YC, Softbank, General Catalyst, etc. on a contract basis for many of their most important initiatives. We quietly launched in May 2020, and have helped AยทTeamers earn $7.3+ million since.\n\n**As part of AยทTeam, you can expect:**\n* __High-paying, meaningful missions with the most audacious companies sent your way;__ generally $110-$190/hr, with vetted, fascinating clients doing work that matters. AยทTeam is picky, and only works with companies referred to us by top funds or existing members and clients such as Lyft, McGraw Hill, the former-CEO of Waze, a few new unicorns, and dozens of venture-backed startups by a16z, YC, Softbank, GC, etc. \n* __Keep 100% of what you make:__ we exist to empower independent builders, which is why A.Team charges a percentage on top of your standard rate.\n* __Do more with a team you like:__ our focus is on small, diverse, cross-functional teams of insanely talented developers, PMs, designers, growth leads, etc. This is because clients with bigger budgets & more ambitious work need teams to solve problems, not individuals to do tasks. That said, we try to keep friends together, since clients love builders who have worked together before.\n* __Full autonomy:__ we only want you to join teams when the timing's right. Often they start around 15-20hrs/week, and last at least 3-6 months (longer if it's going great, or contract-to-hire if true love is found). \n* __Small, curated, off-the-record gatherings:__ for conversations you wouldn't have elsewhere & connecting with other top-tier builders who you may like to collaborate with.\n\n**What youโ€™ll do:**\n* Once part of A.Team, youโ€™ll regularly be invited to impactful missions that match your interests, which you can accept or decline. Take your pick from early-stage incubations with world-class founders, to fast-growing super-funded companies, to old school non-tech incumbents looking to build as a tech giant would\n* Missions usually involve building an ambitious piece of software from 0 to 1 on a small 3-4 person team. \n* Youโ€™ll be paid to scope it out, give the client options, guide strategy, and execute on the selected solution. Sometimes the client has a clear vision, sometimes not; which is why A.Team builders tend to be senior folks who can work together to find the right direction. \n\n**Who A.Team is for:**\n* Senior software developers who left large companies and high-growth startups to pursue their craft with autonomy.\n* Those who prefer consistent contract work over a full-time role, who want to create a variety of new products alongside other top-tier builders.\n* The majority of A.Teamers spend most of their time doing independent work, but a sizeable percentage are either employed full-time (but testing out client work), bootstrapping a side project, or looking for their next big thing\n\n**Who A.Team is not for:**\n* People looking for small gigs\n* Folks looking to build simple wordpress/wix/squarespace-style websites\n* Those still early in their careers and recent university/bootcamp grads (at least not yet)\n\n**Our long-term vision:**\nThis obviously isnโ€™t a standard job post for a standard job; [AยทTeam](https://build.a.team/remoteok) is a new type of company for a new kind of independent software builder. We call them "unhirables": people who traditional companies couldnโ€™t hire full-time even if they wanted to, but who want to do their most meaningful work with their favorite people in small, autonomous, distributed expert teams. \n\nTo help us secure amazing missions, we raised $5 million+ (not public, yet) from NFX, Village Global, and Box Group, along with the former CEO of Upwork, the founders of Fiverr and Lemonade, Apple's Global Head of Recruiting, YC Partner Aaron Harris, Wharton's Adam Grant, and Duke's Dan Ariely. \n\nPlease mention the words **SECRET RATHER REPORT** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4yMDQ=). This is a feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n $110,000 — $200,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nWorldwide

**TalkJS**\n\nTalkJS lets developers build a perfect chat feature in just a few hours. We power communication in online marketplaces, community sites, trading platforms and so on.\n\nWe're product driven and we care tremendously about quality: We're out to build the tool that every developer worldwide will use to build chat/communication features. TalkJS touches millions of people and is growing quickly. \n\nWe're hiring smart & autonomous people to solve challenging problems. We think you ship your best work when you're happy, well-rested, have a healthy work/life balance, and get full autonomy to make the right calls. More info on [https://talkjs.com/jobs](https://talkjs.com/jobs).\n\n**Senior Fullstack Developer**\n\nWe want TalkJS to be the default tool for developers to build chat features. To accomplish that vision, we need to make TalkJS deliciously customizable and still fantastic out of the box.\n\nWe're looking to extend the team with someone who has broad front- and backend experience. Stack includes React/TypeScript/Elixir but it's OK if you're not experienced with all of those precisely. Our humble goal is to ship a product that's super simple to install, fantastic to use immediately, and infinitely customizable. Simple and customizable seem deeply at odds with each other, but we think we can pull it off. If you're up for the challenge of marrying the two, then this is for you.\n\nWe offer tremendous freedom and responsibility + work in a remarkably decent codebase (for a startup :D). Description\n\nDo you have a soft spot for profitable companies with a meaningful, globally used and loved product? Would you like to work within a compact, super-capable team in a refreshing work environment? Would you like to work on an application that is changing the way we learn and communicate? Drops could be the place for you.\n\nAbout us:\n\nOur goal at Drops is to ensure effective language learning through a delightful, seamless, gamified experience. We strive to be the #1 app for vocabulary learning. Our app has been live on the App Store for 4 years, covering 42 languages, serving over 27 million users across the globe and has been featured on both the App Store (App of the Day) and Play Store (App of the Year in 2018). Drops has also been featured by TechCrunch, FastCo, Forbes, CNN, Bloomberg, VentureBeat and many, many more. In short, weโ€™re a tiny but very powerful team spread (mostly) across Europe, achieving great things the remote way! In December 2020, Drops was acquired by Kahoot!, the worldโ€™s leading game-based learning platform\n\nCheck us out here: https://languagedrops.com\n\nAbout you:\n\nYouโ€™re a no-nonsense person, comfortable taking on a variety of projects who has been working within product companies and has extensive front-end development experience.\n\nYouโ€™ve spent years working with React and have experience in React Native with a deep understanding of the internal workings be it working within the browser or a mobile client. You enjoy the challenge of growing a product from an (already) large user base to a larger one with tens of millions of MAU with all the complexities it comes with.\n\nYou are an advocate for static typing and prefer to use a minimal set of simple tools over a diverse range of complex ones.\n\nYou believe variety is the spice of life - In this role, youโ€™ll be developing a complex app deployable to web and app stores, a static site generator, building internal automation infrastructure/tooling and contributing to our internal CMS. You could also be working on our fully serverless architecture on the backend if you feel comfortable doing so.\n\nDrops is a deliberately small, but super effective team. Youโ€™re naturally drawn to the fate of the products & driven to grow as an engineer rather than to manage people.\n\nThe role:\n\nYouโ€™ll be a core part of the development team, working on both our main (Drops) and auxiliary products (Droplets, Visual Dictionary, Internal CMS tooling). Drops values clear, honest communication and transparency. Itโ€™s the linchpin of our culture, success and freedom. Youโ€™ll be involved in both high and low level decision making and are available during European working hours (10AM - 6PM CET). Remember, weโ€™re looking for a missionary here rather than a mercenary.\n\nYou will:\n\nWork cross functionally with our lead designer / data analyst / engineers / project owner to define, scope, estimate and plan various aspects of the product.\nWork independently (and with other engineers!) to develop new web experiences\nSupport of production applications / sites that youโ€™ve built or helped to build\nCommunicate effectively and often to ensure that everyone is aligned\nWhatโ€™d be different here:\n\nWeโ€™re a small team. Weโ€™re optimising for impact, not for headcount. Youโ€™ll be carefully considering any tradeoff that would lead to increased complexity\nWeโ€™re using a single programming language - TypeScript. We have strict linter rules Every pull request needs to be approved before it lands in master. We use the rebase workflow and we release a few times a week\nWeโ€™re using React + Redux to develop UI, on both mobile and the web. We use selectors extensively. Our backend is on AWS, deployed multi-region to Lambda and using RDS for our DB\nWe are BIG on AB testing. We focus on releasing high impact projects and minimise noise\nWeโ€™re doing things in a functional way, concentrating state, minimising side effects and making dependencies explicit. Weโ€™re sharing 98%+ of the code between Android, iOS and Web\nWe automate where it has positive ROI\nOur biggest challenge is (and will remain) managing the complexity of sharing a lot of code between different apps\nRequirements\n\nYou have:\n\nAt least 5 years of experience in software (product) development\nAt least 2 years of experience in building apps with React or React Native with state management tools (redux, flux, etc)\nExperience architecting and developing complex web or mobile apps and static sites\nSome experience in understanding basic user funnels, and collaborating with support to resolve user-facing issues\nProject management experience (everyone manages projects at Drops)\nStrong verbal and written communication skills\nThe ability to work well cross-functionally\nExperienced in strongly typed languages\nBenefits\n\n๐ŸŒ All the perks of remote working\n๐Ÿ‘ฅ An awesomely compact 20 person team\n๐Ÿง  Yearly educational allowance\n๐Ÿ’ช Fitness allowance\n๐Ÿ’ป High-end Apple hardware and ergonomic accessories\n๐Ÿ– 36 days of holiday per year\nโœˆ๏ธ Quarterly team gathering somewhere in the world (Amsterdam, Iceland, Lisbon and Budapest were previous locations) \n\nPlease mention the words **PHOTO BLIND GROW** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4yMDQ=). This is a feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n $40,000 — $90,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nWorldwide

Weโ€™re sharing 98%+ of the code between Android, iOS and Web\nWe automate where it has positive ROI\nOur biggest challenge is (and will remain) managing the complexity of sharing a lot of code between different apps\n\n\nRequirements\n\nYou have:\n\nAt least 5 years of experience in software (product) development\nAt least 2 years of experience in building apps with React or React Native with state management tools (redux, flux, etc)\nExperience architecting and developing complex web or mobile apps and static sites\nSome experience in understanding basic user funnels, and collaborating with support to resolve user-facing issues\nProject management experience (everyone manages projects at Drops)\nStrong verbal and written communication skills\nThe ability to work well cross-functionally\nExperienced in strongly typed languages\nBenefits\n\n\n\n๐ŸŒ All the perks of remote working\n๐Ÿ‘ฅ An awesomely compact 20 person team\n๐Ÿง  Yearly educational allowance\n๐Ÿ’ช Fitness allowance\n๐Ÿ’ป High-end Apple hardware and ergonomic accessories\n๐Ÿ– 36 days of holiday per year\nโœˆ๏ธ Quarterly team gathering somewhere in the world (Amsterdam, Iceland, Lisbon and Budapest were previous locations) \n\nPlease mention the words **MANDATE MAN HAT** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4yMDQ=). This is a feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n $40,000 — $90,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nWorldwide
