We are looking to add multiple Software Engineers (Frontend, Backend, Fullstack) to our team and help innovate our expanding group of products. You will have full ownership of a product together with your team.

TempMee is changing the way the world works - starting with the Dental Industry! We are an ambitious and motivated tech startup that has secured multiple rounds of venture backing to create an Uber-like platform/app to disrupt the dental staffing industry. After launching in late 2019, we have already built the largest community of nationwide hygienists and dental offices, dwarfing our established competition in the dental tech staffing space. It is truly a matter of time until TempMee is the industry standard for dental staffing needs in the Dental Community!

We are in the process of rapidly expanding the capabilities and functions of our app to capture even more market share, and we need high-quality developers like you to come aboard and help make TempMee a Unicorn (Unicorn=Start-ups evaluated at $1 billion within five years of launch).

Working with TempMee means you will be working alongside committed fellow engineers who know their work is critical to the company's success. We are a people-first company that actively seeks your input to make you be more successful in your role! We like to have fun with our work and encourage you to get to know the people you work with. We have a motto - Hard work doesnโ€™t have to be serious!

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture
  • Solid programming skills in JavaScript and/or Golang
  • Knowledge of basic visual and user experience principles
  • Experience in building pixel-perfect design implementation
  • Deep understanding of relational database systems, specifically MySQL and Postgres
  • Understanding NoSQL Datastores such as ElasticSearch, MongoDB is a plus
  • Experience building scalable, performant, and modular solutions
  • Understanding of modern cloud technologies such as AWS and Google Cloud
  • Experience with microservices and service-oriented architecture

What you'll do

  • Work in an exciting and high-growth startup
  • Research novel solutions to nuanced and often unchartered engineering challenges
  • Work with designers, product managers, and engineers to design impactful products
  • Perform and uphold code best practices.
  • Produce high-quality code that raises the bar for all engineering team members
  • Improve scalable distributed systems on the cloud
  • Improve web applications for performance and scalability
  • Perform quality assurance/debugging procedures to provide a secure and functional delivery
  • Implement testing protocols for managing successful deployments across development, staging, and production environments
  • Recommend system solutions by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchase alternatives

We are excited to meet you!

At Para, our mission is to build a better gig economy by giving gig workers the tools they need to support their business, helping them earn more and stress less.

We are doing this by building the super app for gig work. Whether a worker is looking for work, actively optimizing how they spend their time, or trying to understand their financial life, Para synthesizes all the data across various apps to become a personal dispatch system! Come help us build a better working future for the 60 million American gig workers.

The driver tools team focuses on two parts of that goal: helping gig workers optimize how they spend their time and understand their financial life. We run a high-throughput system with >10M requests per day to help make this happen for our >50K monthly users.

On Paraโ€™s Engineering team, youโ€™ll:

  • Consistently ship user-facing features
  • Closely collaborate with frontend developers and designers while actively shaping product direction
  • Design, build, and maintain software across the stack: CI/CD, observability, monitoring, data models, and client-facing APIs
  • Get dedicated time for architecture simplifications / tackling tech debt
  • Read, write, and review design docs for product features and architecture changes

You are likely a good fit if

  • you have 3+ years of experience in software engineering building, maintaining, and supporting production services
  • Have informed or made architectural decisions across the API / data layer like:
    • Serverless functions vs kubernetes vs VMs?
    • Key-value store vs NoSQL vs SQL?
    • HTTP vs gRPC vs thrift?
  • have experience building or are in learning to build across the stack

Youโ€™ll be a great culture fit if

  • Youโ€™re motivated to make work easier for the millions of gig workers in the US
  • Whether tackling architectural problems or product-market fit, you think the best software solution wonโ€™t be designed but iterated to
  • You prefer solving two problems reasonably well to solving one problem extremely well

It would be nice (albeit is not necessary โ€“ as long as youโ€™re open to learning!) if you have experience with Typescript and Google Cloud Platform.

We offer

  • A chance to work with a small team and noticeably move the company from day one
  • Unlimited paid time off and paid sick leave
  • 1-2 offsites every quarter where we get together in person to eat, hike, and hang out
  • Work fully remote from anywhere you want โ€“ we only ask you have 4 hours of overlap most days with New York working hours (10 AM - 6 PM)

Para is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in all forms.ย  Para does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital status, protected veteran status, disability, or any other unlawful factor.

You'll form a key part of a team of developers building backend services to support our SaaS eCommerce platforms.\n\nYou start your day in a team Stand Up discussing progress you made yesterday, listening to your team members describe their current issues and dropping some knowledge bombs on how you โ€œsolved this last timeโ€. Youโ€™re working from home today, so you pay the pet tax and encourage your four-legged-friend wave to the camera before logging off.\n\nFirst up youโ€™ve got a pair-programming session with a Junior Developer in your team to help them through a tough ERP integration that theyโ€™ve been working on. Theyโ€™ve been steadily improving under your experienced wing and are turning into a really productive team member.\n\nAfter lunch youโ€™ll set your Slack status and turn on Do Not Disturb for a couple of hours while you debug a weird issue with a customerโ€™s site. Thereโ€™s been a change to the out of stock logic recently to support multiple warehouses. You update your unit test suite to cover this unexpected scenario and tell the Project Manager the good news! You push your feature branch to Bitbucket and watch Bitbucket Pipelines build your artifact and prove that your tests pass.\n\nYour JIRA issue has automatically transitioned to โ€œIn Code Reviewโ€ and you open your pull request, studying your diff carefully before assigning it to your team mate for a sanity check.\n\nTomorrow (assuming all is well!) youโ€™ll merge your pull request into a release branch and let Pipelines deploy it to Staging where it will be regression tested by the QA Team and their bank of automated tests. It should be out to Production by the end of the week, providing we can get through the testing and get client sign off by 2pm on Thursday.\n\n**If you read this and it sounds like your ideal job โ€” we want you on the team!**\n\n## What you'll be doing\nThe following should give you an idea of how youโ€™ll be expected to typically be spending your time. Itโ€™s not set in stone and it may change from week-to-week, but it gives an idea of what is expected from the role.\n\n### Software Development (80%)\n\nThe majority of your time will be spent working with your team to deliver software that meets the needs of our customers. This isnโ€™t time that youโ€™ll spend entirely in your editor, thereโ€™s stand up, sprint planning, scoping, architecting and designing that youโ€™ll take part in to make sure weโ€™re building exactly what we need in the right way.\n\nGiven your experience, a portion of this time is expected to be spent assisting other team members in delivering their work effectively.\n\n#### Process and Tooling Improvements (10%)\n\nMaking sure that we donโ€™t sit still and keep evolving the way we build and deliver software is a critical investment of time, particularly from a team member with your experience. Use this time to try that tool you read about and see if itโ€™s worthy of being a part of our toolchain.\n\n#### Personal Development (10%)\n\nKeeping up with new software releases, development practices, horror stories and post mortems are an essential part of any Software Developerโ€™s time! Use this time to push forward your objectives and research tools and techniques you need to stay productive.\n\n## Requirements\n\n#### Essential Technical Skills\n\n* Server-side JavaScript\n* Experience with FaaS platforms (e.g. Google Cloud, Azure, AWS, etc)\n* Experience with one or more popular Node framework (e.g. Nest, Koa, Express, Hapi)\n* Experience integrating with NoSQL data stores (e.g. Cosmo, Mongo, Firestore, Dynamo)\n* Working with third-party REST and GraphQL APIs\n* Experience unit testing with Javascript\n* Experience of the full software lifecycle\n* Experience with Agile methodologies\n* Advanced experience working with Git\n* Advanced knowledge of the HTTP and H2 protocols\n* Advanced knowledge of web application security\n\n#### Essential Knowledge & Experience\n\n* At least 2 years of development experience working in a development team within a commercial environment\n* Experience dealing directly with non-technical stakeholders\n* Highly motivated with demonstrable technical and analytical skills\n* Desire to further technical skills and knowledge\n* Attention to detail, commitment and desire to complete a consistently high standard of work\n* Advanced time management skills with the ability to manage own tasks to agreed timelines with limited supervision\n* Able to clearly communicate complex design and development decisions\n* Advanced knowledge of best practice and architecture for complex web applications\n* Advanced knowledge of and able to avoid common security issues in web applications\n* Able to articulate complex technical solutions with minimal assistance\n* Able to design and build complex technical solutions with minimal assistance\n* Strong communication skills\n\n#### Desirable Technical Skills\n\n* Typescript\n* Experience with Azure or Google Cloud\n* Client-side JavaScript\n* React\n* Docker\n* Experience integrating with relational databases (e.g. Postgres, MySQL)\n* Experience with APIs that implement HATEOAS+HAL\n* Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket)\n* Experience with PCI compliance\n* Experience working with servers over SSH\n\n#### Desirable Knowledge & Experience\n\n* At least 1 years software development experience on an ecommerce platform\n* Experience of people management in a fast-paced development environment\n* Managing tasks and timelines of a development team, within a commercial environment\n\n## Benefits\n* We're fully remote and will support you in working from wherever you like\n* Flexible working hours to suit your lifestyle\n* 22 days holiday + bank holidays + an extra day's holiday for each year worked\n* Your birthday off\n* Vitality private health cover (Currently UK only.
