๐Ÿ‘‰ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!

When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site. About Gruntwork

Gruntwork aims to improve humanity's most important invention: Software. Our focus today is on creating a DevOps UX that software engineers actually enjoy, which we do by creating building blocks that make launching in the cloud 10x better/faster/easier. We work with AWS, K8s, Terraform, Terragrunt, Terratest, Go, Typescript, and React, and introduce new tech as needed. Weโ€™re a small team (~20 people), but our clients include Toyota, Adobe, TicketMaster, Verizon, and hundreds of startups.

We are profitable, self-funded (no investors, no debt), and pay salaries, equity, and bonuses according to transparent formulas. We are 100% remote, with 2/3 of our team in the USA and 1/3 in Europe. We plan company-wide in-person meetups every few months and are known world-wide for both DevOps thought leadership and our popular open source tools, Terragrunt and Terratest.

Our measure of a successful Grunt is (1) think like an owner, (2) make impact, (3) communicate effectively, (4) be a good person. If this sounds like you, we're hiring!

About The Role

Our infrastructure as code library and platform team delivers an end-to-end, best-practices infrastructure on AWS in just days, all as a product. In this role, youโ€™ll collaborate with other senior-level engineers to define the next generation of AWS and DevOps best practices, codify them for use by thousands of engineers, and design a next-level experience for implementing, operating and understanding them.

What You'll Work On

  • Build a better DevOps experience.ย We have a unique product that generates complete, multi-account AWS architectures for Terraform and Terragrunt in just a few hours using a collection of internal Golang tools. Help us take this to the next level by using that product to deliver prod architectures directly to customers, and then leveraging their feedback for improvements. Better yet, help us get to the point where the entire experience is completely automated or self-service.
  • Codify AWS and Terraform best practices.ย Customers look to Gruntwork to share the best way to launch on AWS. Discover AWS and Terraform best practices, and then codify them as repeatable patterns that Gruntwork customers can pull off the shelf.
  • Integrate with the Gruntwork platform.ย Integrate your product work with our company-wide platform, which consists of a REST API (Next.js/Typescript), a web-based single-page app (Next.js/React/Typescript, Tailwind), and a first-class CLI tool (Go).
  • Build out the Infrastructure as Code Library.ย Create and maintain reusable infrastructure modules for a variety of infrastructure (e.g., EKS, ECS, RDS, VPC, Lambda, EC2, S3, ElastiCache, etc.), using a variety of tools (e.g., Terraform, Go, Python, Bash, Docker, Packer, etc.) on AWS.
  • Contribute to open source.ย Contribute to our open source projects as needed, including Terragrunt, Terratest, cloud-nuke, bash-commons, and more.
  • Train and mentor.ย Play to your strengths and areas of expertise by not only writing code and working on the product but also by sharing knowledge and mentoring both other team members and our customers in those areas.
  • Support customers.ย Gruntwork is a small, distributed, self-funded, profitable startup, so we'll ask you to provide a limited amount of support to enable learning directly from customers about how we can improve and continue achieving our vision of making it easier to understand, build, and deploy software.

Your Ideal Background

You should meet some of these requirements, but you don't need to meet all of them. As a company, we look for people who can leverage their existing skills to make significant impact in the near term. As an individual, you are likely looking for a growth opportunity, a core part of which is building new skills.

  • You know how to write code across the stack and have experience in one or more of the following: Go, C++, Python, Typescript, Bash, React, Next.js
  • You have production-level experience with AWS.
  • You have expertise in one or more of the following: Kubernetes (any managed offering, preferably EKS), ECS<, EC2, Lambda / Serverless, API Gateway, RDS, S3, AWS Config, AWS CloudTrail, Amazon GuardDuty, IAM, VPC, VPN.
  • You have worked with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools like CloudFormation, CDK, or Pulumi in prod.
  • You have experience achieving compliance and going through audits (e.g., SOC2, HIPAA, vendor, etc).
  • You have a strong background in software engineering.
  • You have strong communication skills in English and are comfortable engaging with external customers.

Your Ideal Values

  • You have a passion for imparting best practices to other developers.
  • But you would rather invest the time to automate a problem than do the same work again.
  • You have a passion for learning (new technologies and languages specifically).
  • But you are motivated most by making impact.
  • You are inspired by our values (https://gruntwork.io/about/#our-values).

Compatible Time Zones

You'll be working with a team in theย US time zones, so you can be located in almost any country as long as your time zone is no further west than Los Angeles (GMT-8/GMT-7) and no further east than New York (GMT-5/GMT-4). We've found that when everyone on the team is located in similar time zones, it's easier to collaborate and there's much less pressure to stay up late or get up early, so this is a hard constraint, even if you're willing to work hours different from your current time zone.

Benefits

Our benefits reflect our values. We believe compensation should be fair, transparent, and generous. We hire Grunts in many countries, so some details may vary.

  • Location Independent, Above-Market Salary.ย To reduce bias and increase transparency, we compute all salaries using formulas. The formula factors in your title and uses a multiplier to produce a result that's above market for that title. Our salaries are location independent.
  • Profit-Sharing Bonus.ย We set aside a pot of money at the end of each year based on profits and distribute bonuses according to a formula that uses as inputs your level within the company and the length of your tenure at the company.
  • Hardware Budget.ย We'll buy you a brand new 16" Apple MacBook Pro (or other computer of your choosing of equivalent value) upon joining. It will be owned by you, not the company.
  • Personal Budget.ย We'll give you a personal budget of $1,000 USD per month to spend on your workspace (e.g., a co-working space), health (e.g., gym, yoga), time (e.g., babysitter), and/or learning (e.g., books, courses).
  • Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance.ย We offer a range of high-quality plans with a large portion paid by the company. For countries other than the US, this includes extra coverage on top of your statutory insurance.

In addition to the global benefits listed above, we have some US-specific benefits as well:

  • FSA and HSAs.ย We don't contribute to these accounts, but we do offer them as an option.
  • 401(k).ย We contribute a portion of your salary to your 401(k).
  • Disability insurance.ย If you get disabled, we have a policy that will pay out a portion of your salary.

Life First, Then Work

We believe in planning our work around our lives, not the other way around. To help achieve that we offer:

  • Remote workย that lets you control your hours and physical location.
  • Normal working hoursย that usually amount to not more than ~40h per week, and no working on weekends or holidays.
  • Deliberate project planningย that takes into account the time zone of all team members.

What is the job?

Are you happiest when using modern technologies to build complex APIs and slick web solutions from scratch? Do you enjoy working with autonomy and being left to use your creative flare to devise lever solutions? If so, joining us as a JavaScript Developer could be your next move!

You will work from a coherent vision. Step by step you will turn requirements into top-notch products by working with your immediate small but collaborative team, stakeholders in the wider business and testers through rapid cycles of implementation, feedback gathering, and tuning to produce delightful results. You will drive architectural decisions & enjoy the constant challenges that will become an integral part of your working day and boring coding will remain a scary memory.

You will help define the way forward for DeFi as an industry; when it comes to deciding new paradigms for user experiences, authentication models, interoperability expectations, and the entire concept of user accounts whilst working at the very cutting edge of a space undergoing furious growth.

RDX Works is seeking an industrious developer to build the systems that will define the future of decentralized finance (DeFi).

What are we looking for?

  • Youโ€™re a generalist, and have experience building REST services and/or WebSocket backends & enjoy variety in your projects
  • You like to actively shape designs and play with ideas as you build, and are comfortable with iterating until it feels just right.
  • Youโ€™re able to isolate the 90% case for user experiences. You think in terms of making the most common interactions effortless, rather than making anything possible.
  • You are adept at going from problem statements to solution design, and then breaking that high-level design down into discrete segments of useful work.
  • Once you understand a system concept, you are able to identify the highest value area to work on next. You can work towards the desired end state and come up with your own tasks to achieve it along the way.
  • You could be a great fit if our company values resonate with you -ย Ask for help, Get shit done. Be excellent to each other. Take the initiative, Youโ€™ve got this. Do the right thing, not the easy thing. Strong opinions, loosely held.

What do you need?

  • You will be proven commercial experience as an engineer building consumer-facing products/applications, using TypeScript or JavaScript ES6 for both front & back end development
  • You will be comfortable using JavaScript frameworks such as ReactJS, NodeJS or VueJS.
  • If you have familiarity with the current crypto ecosystem it is a huge plus, but just having the desire to learn will do for us!

Who are we?

At RDX Works, we're a team of like-minded thinkers who have long been convinced that we're living in the earliest stages of a global financial revolution. This revolution is being fuelled by decentralized finance (or DeFi for short), which is enabling an assortment of pioneering developers and entrepreneurs to re-invent almost every financial product that is currently traded and invested in traditional markets, without requiring central authorities or siloed infrastructure. DeFi has captured a great deal of attention and investment in the crypto-aware niche, growing assets under management from $1 billion to over $200 billion in a few years. Impressive as its growth has been, its current market size isn't even a rounding error on the over $400 trillion held in traditional finance. We're focused on what it will take to go from billions to trillions.

RDX went back to first principles to come up with the right technical solutionโ€”the first layer-one protocol built specifically for mainstream DeFiโ€”and we have already tested out at over 1 million transactions per second. We're keenly aware that the need for an infinitely scalable platform is only one prerequisite among many for mass adoption, and we're also blazing new ground in the areas of purpose-built developer tools, user experiences, and regulatory integration.

We have forged a path deep into the future of what distributed ledger technology is going to look like and we need you to come and be part of the team that is making that happen right now.

If this job sounds like it was made for you, then please apply directly via the link or if you donโ€™t have an up to date CV to apply with, contact [email protected] for more information.

Check out our company benefits here -ย RDX Works Benefits

Alternatively, if you feel like you donโ€™t match all of the requirements, we would love you to still apply anyway. We understand that confidence gaps and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting incredible candidates and we wouldnโ€™t want this to prevent us from meeting you; especially as we are big advocates of helping people learn & grow. This is also another reason we do not advertise salaries, we want to keep it as even a playing field as possible!

VPD is hiring a remote full-stack engineer to help develop and implement our groundbreaking cloud solution, contributing across all aspects of our app, its data, architecture and deployment.

Weโ€™re a well-funded scaleup (no VC money) with big plans to revolutionise legal pricing: our software aims to bring an end to law firms overcharging clients, arbitrary pricing, and other bad practices that have existed for years.

Our two directors are recognised world authorities in this domain, we are recognised suppliers to Thomson Reuters and Aderant Legal Software. We've successfully onboarded one of the world's largest legal teams and we're now busy preparing to deploy to some of the top 100 law firms in the UK and abroad.

Our app is powered by React, with Apollo Client for its GraphQL queries and mutations. It leverages Ant Design as the UI framework, upon which we build a mixture of UI components; some simple, some complex.ย

On the back-end, we're using PostgreSQL as our RDS, TypeORM as our ORM, TypeGraphQL to define the API schema, and Apollo Server to deliver the GraphQL.

Both our front and back ends are coded in TypeScript. We believe in end-to-end testing and have therefore used Playwright to handle an automated E2E test script which runs before deployments.

The work is varied, challenging, and we place equal emphasis on front and back-end; we need to deliver scheduled features, fix bugs, and respond to the needs of newly onboarded firms.

Qualities and skills soughtย

  • A good technical understanding of software engineering principlesย
  • Adept with React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL and GraphQL
  • Proficient with SQL, TypeORM or similar
  • An interest in upholding data security principles and helping us choose and implement effective application architectures
  • Ability to unpack complex requirements
  • A collaborative, adaptable, user-centred approach

You may also bring - or like to learn within the role

Ant Design | TypeORM | TypeGraphQL | Apollo Client | Apollo Server | Java | CircleCI | Heroku | Auth0 | AWS | TDD | Agile | Domain-driven design (DDD) | data modelling | integration patterns

Salary and benefits

  • ยฃ70,000 - ยฃ90,000 - reviewed at six months - we're keeping an open mind
  • Share scheme for formative team members (once proven value to the business)
  • 25 days holiday, plus public holidays and a day for your birthday
  • Flexible working practices - tell us what you need
  • Personal development plan that you can shape, with budget for related training/certifications

About us

VPD has developed groundbreaking software that enables law firms to better understand and fairly price their fees. We are the authority for legal pricing and our software has attracted the attention of the largest firms in numerous countries, with a number of partnerships and customers signed.ย

We're now strengthening our fully-remote development team, offering a culture where you will work under your own initiative towards common goals. It's an opportunity to be a formative team member, joining a friendly flat-structured team that operates without ego, and to grow and improve together. https://www.vpd.law

Hi, Iโ€™m Dani, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur.\n\nAlong with my business partner James, weโ€™ve been on a mission to change the way people buy and sell online for over 9 years. We started Saily Inc, a company that developed one of the top-ranking secondhand shopping apps in the US with millions of downloads. The Saily team joined Mercari in 2018 to help take the company public at a $4 Billion valuation.\n\nIn 2019, we built Flyp, a technology company decentralizing online commerce. We started with an app that connects small businesses to professional sellers who sell their clothing inventory for them. Pros handle pricing, listing, negotiating with buyers, packing and shipping each item, then splitting profits.\n\nWe just started growing our engineering team to develop tools to empower our Pros. These are web-based tools involving web scraping, web automation, and Chrome extensions to help Pros grow their businesses.\n\nWeโ€™re looking to hire full-stack engineers to be in charge of our tools (MERN tech stack). We value attitude over skills. Weโ€™re looking for someone to treat this startup as their own, have opinions, be involved in decision making, have a hacker mindset, and be result-driven. Weโ€™re a remote-first startup, and we make sure to have overlapping hours across the team to boost productivity.\n\n**Requirements:** Be in Europe, and have 4+ years experience in MERN stack\n\n**Bonus:** If you've worked with Chrome extensions & web automation\n\n[https://www.daniarnaout.com/](https://www.daniarnaout.com/)\n\n[https://www.joinflyp.com/](https://www.joinflyp.com/) \n\nPlease mention the word **GRAND** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xMg==). \nCome help us build one of the most exciting new products for the media and entertainment industry! Qwire is revolutionizing how studios, editors, composers, artists, publishers, labels and performance rights organizations collaborate. Managing the entire audio lifecycle of movies, television shows, and live sports broadcasts is no small task. Making sure that accurate licensing information gets to the right destination so people can get paid is even a bigger one. Studios like Warner Bros. are replacing their million-dollar home-grown solutions and spreadsheets with our Saas offering. \nAs a Senior Software Engineer at Qwire, you will be a part of a cross functional team developing a full stack JavaScript application. Our technical stack includes Node.js powering our REST APIs and services, along with Postgresql, Redis, and ElasticSearch deployed on AWS. On the front end, we use React, Redux, and Thunks. At Qwire, we write our own tests as developers. We use Jest as our testing framework, and maintain unit, API integration, and end-to-end tests using Cypress.io.\nYou should have depth and experience across some meaningful subset of our stack. We like generalists, especially ones with 'T' shaped experience - depth in one area and broad interest in developing other areas. While we'll play to your strengths, you'll have the opportunity to learn and contribute across the entire code base. At Qwire, we value a friendly, collaborative, data driven culture that places a premium on learning: slope over intercept. \nResponsibilities\n* Your primary responsibility will be writing high quality, clear, maintainable JavaScript that improves our product. Qwire is still a small team, so every engineer contributes to the code base.\n* Lead by example with the code you contribute, code reviews, and peer programming\n* Collaborate with product management to manage and execute the product roadmap. \n* Work with the CTO and the development team to analyze and design the application architecture and implement functional requirements\n* As part of the development team, contribute to improving our development and deployment processes\n* Identify any pain points in our logging, monitoring, and APM; design and implement improvements to overall observability and performance.\n* Be welcoming and approachable. Answer questions about our tooling and processes with kindness and compassion. Help others understand the work we do and how they can improve their craft.\n\n\n\nExperience that will be helpful\n* 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience with JavaScript in Node.js and React\n* A track record of developing web-based applications and a deep technical understanding of JavaScript technologies such as Node.js, React, and Redux.\n* Experience as a lead engineer for project of increasing complexity, ideally in a startup environment\n* Experience with docker-based container development and deployment\n* Experience with web design architecture and stage-appropriate scalability \n* Familiarity with application security best practices, OAUTH, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)\n* Some familiarity with database management, monitoring, debugging will be helpful\n* Experience with functional and class-based JavaScript code. Previous experience with another functional language (Scala, Clojure, Haskell, Elixir, etc.) is preferred, but not required.\n\n\nWe don't require you to submit a resume, but please do submit one if you think it will help us understand your background. We place more emphasis on you telling us a bit about yourself, why you're a good fit for this project, and your relevant experience. A couple of paragraphs in the "About You" section will do. That should give us enough context to review your GitHub profile, open-source contributions, and/or other code you've written, which we've found is the best way identify potential team members. Please include a link to your personal website, repo, or other online code you've written that we can have a look at. \nEvery candidate that submits an application will get a response. We'll reach out to selected candidates to schedule an initial call after reviewing each submission. Our interviewing process is fast and straightforward: no brainteasers, no coding challenges, and your first conversation will be with another engineer, not a recruiter. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to JavaScript, Senior, Engineer, Full Stack, Developer, Digital Nomad, Elasticsearch, API and SaaS jobs that are similar:\n\n $60,000 — $120,000/year\n

\nCompany Introduction\n\nHello! We are Biomage, a small startup deeply passionate about human health. We work in the area of single cell sequencing analysis - a new technology that has taken research biology by storm. Our mission is to build a world-class single cell analysis platform in the cloud to enable biologists to turn their datasets into meaningful biology and make discoveries.\n\nWe are working with some of the best research institutions: our biggest customers are Harvard Medical School, Glasgow Polyomics and Edinburgh Genomics who are also our early adopters. We currently have a waiting list of more customers eager to use the platform!\n\nThe project\n\nOur product is open source, you can check it out on Github! Currently, it consists of a React based UI, API written in Node.js and a backend written in Python that computes single cell analysis tasks. Everything is deployed via an automated CI/CD pipeline (Github Actions) to an AWS-managed Kubernetes cluster. \n\nThe platform is still in a very early development stage - there are many core features and infrastructure yet to be built. The engineering team consists of two full-time and a single part-time engineer. There is no division between backend, frontend or testing roles - each engineer contributes to any part of the codebase and is responsible for writing unit tests and completing new features according to the definition of done.\n\nWhat we offer\n\n\n* Opportunity to change the world by building tools to help the improvement of human health.\n\n* Opportunity to grow the startup with us into a successful company.\n\n* Competitive salary and shares package\n\n* Laptop and any other essential technical equipment.\n\n* Reading club - books to help with your professional development are on us to help with your personal development \n\n* Home cleaning - we will find somebody to take over some of those mundane tasks to help you focus on what matters most to you\n\n\n\n\nWhat you can expect\n\n\n* An agile, diverse and multidisciplinary team\n\n* A supportive, inclusive and transparent working environment where team mates learn from and help each other all the time.\n\n* A place to look at things differently, challenge and offer solutions.\n\n* You will be working in a (still) small startup where the whole company consists of ~10 people. You will have a unique opportunity to make a significant impact and actively drive change in the technology, direction and culture of the startup.\n\n* A fast-paced environment of continuous improvement where you optimise for impact and velocity.\n\n\n\n\nWhat we are looking for\n\nWe are looking for an experienced, talented software engineer to join the engineering team and help us build the first version of the single cell sequencing pipeline and onboard our increasing number of early adopters. No previous knowledge in biology or bioinformatics is required.\n\nThis position is for full time, 100% remote work, where the official time zone of the engineering team is the one in the UK (GMT, GMT + 1).\n\nWe would expect you to:\n\n\n* Always put the user first.\n\n* Be an active participant during technical decisions and discussions.\n\n* Be comfortable to work in a rapidly changing environment.\n\n* Be passionate and empathetic - you fall in love with problems, not solutions. You’re a doer, and a helper.\n\n* Take pride in your work.\n\n* Think like an owner.\n\n* Experiment, test, try, fail and learn continuously.\n\n* Have experience and desire to work as part of a close-knit team.\n\n\n\n\nQualifications\n\nFor this role, you must have:\n\n\n* Experience in working as part of a team to ship high-quality software using agile development processes.\n\n* Some experience and knowledge in web development and containerised applications.\n\n* Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Javascript or Python.\n\n\n\n\nHow to apply\n\nSend your CV to [email protected]. We will be in contact with you shortly! \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Engineer, Full Stack, Developer, Digital Nomad, React, JavaScript, Cloud, Python, API, Medical and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n
