Collaborating with our DevOps Manager and team, we will welcome your solution design and tooling knowledge as we embark on this positive new chapter.\n\nMilestones\n\n\n* Designing and delivering CI/CD on AWS, including compute and storage\n\n* Evaluating AWS deployments, articulating and implementing design improvements\n\n* Designing infrastructure as code solutions, and implementing core aspects\n\n* Optionally; improving build and deploy methods\n\n\n\n\nWe're looking for\n\n\n* Someone adept with Ansible, deployed in complex environments\n\n* Deep, technical, real-world knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps best practice\n\n* Adept at running robust AWS services\n\n* A grounding in OO software design and development methods - accrued in any language or ecosystem - or equivalent understanding\n\n* An understanding of how structured design and modular architecture apply to IaC/IaaS and configuration management\n\n* Highly skilled with modern tooling for production services\n\n* Readiness to work collaboratively in a distributed team, delivering solutions that satisfy multiple stakeholders and that will serve the future well\n\n* Appreciation for knowledge sharing, testing and good documentation\n\n* Someone seeking remote SRE jobs such as: AWS Engineer | Automation Engineer | Ansible Engineer | DevOps Engineer | Site Reliability Engineer etc.\n\n\n\n\nCurrent ecosystem - we'll welcome your influence\n\nAnsible | Jenkins | Kubernetes | Docker | Git | AWS OpsWorks with Chef, ECR, EKS | Windows and Linux\n\nPay and conditions \n\n\n* c.£500 - £600 per day\n\n* Anticipated duration; six months, with option to extend\n\n* Fully remote role, with no travel anticipated\n\n* Ability to liaise with US colleagues in Central time zone\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

You must be self-managing. You must be present and online during your team's normal working hours, and attend and participate in team calls and the like.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n\n\n\n* You are collaborative and experienced in general development, deployment, and operation of modern API-powered web applications using continuous delivery and Git in a Unix/Linux environment.\n\n* Experience with a configuration management system such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or Salt.\n\n* Experience with immutable infrastructure and 12-factor architecture is helpful.\n\n* SaaS multitenant experience is a bonus.\n\n* Experience with enterprise security is a plus.\n\n* Experience with Go, Kafka, Redis, and MySQL is very beneficial. Experience with other storage technologies such as Cassandra, Hadoop, and the like are also helpful.\n\n* Bash scripting experience is strongly desirable.\n\n* Experience with project management is helpful.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNote to Agencies and Recruiters: VividCortex has a strict company policy against engaging with unsolicited contact from agencies or recruiters. This job post is closed and the position is probably filled. Please do not apply. Work for Empire Flippers and want to re-open this job? Use the edit link in the email when you posted the job!
The Ruby on Rails Engineer position is vital to the success of our company.\n\nYouโll use your initiative in implementing APIโs and integrations to address our business needs along with the rest of the engineering team. Both our clients and staff will be using the software you write. Our small and close knit engineering team currently consists of a UX specialist, 2 frontend engineers, one backend engineer, one WordPress engineer and several QA specialists. Youโll work closely with the team to implement solutions for all departments within Empire Flippers, be it compliance, customer support, sales and migrations. Youโll work closely with the frontend and WordPress engineers to ensure features are implemented correctly to the highest standard, and youโll work closely with one more backend engineer to ensure scalability, speed, code cleanliness and readability.\n\nThe feature set will have already been decided on โ itโs your responsibility to plough ahead with the implementation and to ensure the user experience is elevated to unprecedented levels and ultimately, close more deals.\n\n# Responsibilities\n
We believe in hiring people that are a good fit for us culturally.\n\nA good fit is actually more important to us than the skill set since we will teach you everything you need to know.\n\nYou should have a few good years of experience under your belt, having implemented some complex, data driven applications. Your portfolio speaks louder than your words.\n\nYou should be a ninja with every component of our tech stack. You must have a complete working knowledge of RoR in API mode, SQL, Postgres, Sidekiq, Rspec, Git, Redis.\n\nExperience working with a wide range of 3rd party integrations. Our platform talks to many 3rd party applications, you should have experience building and maintaining such integrations in a test driven fashion.\n\nDev-ops/sysadmin skills. Experience with managing servers, maintaining hosting environments, being responsible for uptime and responsiveness, addressing bottlenecks, ensuring backups are kept safe and sound.\n\nYou need to have immaculate attention to detail. We need to hear you grunting and moaning if something doesnโt quite look or feel right, to the nearest code change and to the nearest hexadecimal color, to the point you become annoying to us. At times other developers may edit your code, youโll be watching to ensure the code base remains readable, scalable and fast.\n\nBe a good communicator. It sounds very clichรฉ, but youโll immerse yourself in almost every department, youโll be learning problems and presenting solutions, and also overseeing the implementation of those solutions too.\n\nA self-starter. We need to see some evidence that youโre able to get up every morning, bite the bullet and just get on with it, even if youโve tried four coffee shops and none have decent wifi. You wonโt have eyes looking over your shoulder on a day to day basis, youโll be working in almost full autonomy, weโll need to trust you to deliver the goods. We donโt believe in micro-management.\n\nThe following skills/experience would be a bonus, but not required:\n\nReact. Our client code is written in React. Being able to navigate the front-end code and patch things up would be a huge bonus.\n\nPHP/WordPress. We will be interfacing with WordPress significantly, being able to speak the same language would be great.\n\nDatabases. A comprehensive experience working with various types of SQL and noSQL databases would be very useful. MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB, Cassandra, to name a few.\n\nCaching. The software weโre building needs to be fast and to remain fast as we scale, both in terms of traffic and database size. Having experience with Memcached, Redis, Varnish or experience with complicated CDN setups with many rules would be a plus. \n\n# Requirements\nHere is the sequence of events we use when hiring our Rails Engineer:\n\nYou record a YouTube video* explaining who you are and why youโre a good fit for the position, fill out an application, and submit it ASAP.\nThe deadline is the 1st of May 2019.\nWe review submissions and schedule interviews.\nSecond interviews are conducted, and a final decision is made.\nThe chosen candidate will begin in May. \n\nPlease mention the words **CAPTAIN HEART TUITION** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4yMg==). \nAbout the role\n\n\nWe like to build stuff… sometimes complicated stuff… for Non-Profits, Charities and Art Galleries. \n\nWe are on the lookout for a confident and ambitious Junior Devops / SysAdmin to join our fast growing startup to help us automate our development processes and build out our SaaS product. We do things a little differently, basing all our solutions on open source products. We offer a great work-life balance with flexible working hours and a real team mentality. Our work covers web design, app development and branding for charities and non-profit organisations across the UK. Our clients include charities such as Wikimedia and Farm Africa, art galleries such as the Photographers Gallery and Craft Central as well as companies, trade associations and government bodies. Our primary focus is the Drupal and CiviCRM platforms, but someone with a wide range of interests would be favourable. \n\nWe are looking for someone to join the team as we work towards automation of our infrastructure, helping everything to run like clockwork. You’ll be:\n\n\n* Deploying, managing and maintaining fault-tolerant systems on AWS.\n\n* Monitoring and troubleshooting a multitude of Drupal/CiviCRM sites.\n\n* Taking ownership of issues, including collaboration with the rest of the team.\n\n* Monitoring alerts for OS, storage, application and infrastructure issues to keep track of problems proactively.\n\n* Actively mentoring and assisting in the technical development of non-technical staff and developers.\n\n* Writing scripts to simplify developer tasks such as cloning client sites to local environments. \n\n* Keeping technical documentation up to date.\n\n\n\n\nSkills and requirements\n\nKey skills we are looking for: \n\n\n* Excellent Linux administration skills. \n\n* PHP web server experience (NGINX preferable, but Apache useful). \n\n* Some database administration experience (Mysql or equivalent). \n\n* Experience with cloud technologies, AWS. \n\n* Good Git skills (eg., comfortable preparing release branches). \n\n* Previous PHP deployment automation is desirable. \n\n* Strong collaboration, written and verbal skills. \n\n* Must love creating awesome documentation! \n\n\n\n\nNice to have:\n\n\n* Previous experience with CI/DevOps tools and platforms (i.e., Ansible, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet,) is considered an advantage. \n\n* Some experience/knowledge in monitoring tools is considered an advantage. \n\n\n\n\nWhat we are looking for is someone who can grasp concepts quickly, has great attention to detail and, most importantly, loves a tech challenge. In short, we are a team of self-confessed geeks who love tinkering and tweaking until something is just right and we are looking for someone who thinks and acts like us.\n\nLocation\n\nAt Compucorp we are a distributed team and we welcome people to join us from all around the world. However, as a UK-based company, some overlap with UK hours will be required. By default, you should assume that your working hours would be +/- 3h max from GMT start times of 9.00AM UK start time. There is some flexibility in this but please be aware that staff members starting outside of these hours are rare and, as such, if you would expect these hours to be an issue for you then we would not suggest that you apply. Due to EU data protection requirements, DevOps/SysAdmin team members must be from either an EEA country or a country that the EU considers to have an adequate level of data protection. \nPlatform.sh is a groundbreaking hosting and development tool for web applications. We’re a European VC-Backed startup with a host of blue-chip Enterprise clients and a string of awards and grants (including €2m from the EU Horizon 2020 program).\n\nTo reinforce our technical prowess, we are looking to grow our operations team. If you’re looking for an exciting, high-growth opportunity with an award-winning, cutting-edge company, this could be just the job for you\n\nFor its PaaS solution, https://platform.sh is looking for an Operations and Service Reliability Engineer with a taste for Python and Go, great Linux system understanding, and a real hunger for the challenges of building robust, distributed systems.\n\nPlatform.sh is a PaaS shrouded in a lot of black magic (we can consistently clone a whole running cluster, with its state, databases, indexes in a matter of seconds). We want to get this down to the hundreds of milliseconds domain. Interested? There is more...\n\nOur external API is pure Hypermedia REST + oAuth on top of Pyramid. It mechanizes the Git layer and needs more features.\n\nWe can consistently generate from the same manifest a Docker container, an LXC one, or VM disk images (AWS, Azure, OpenStack), we want more targets.\n\nWe probably have the highest industry container density. We need to get it higher.\n\nWe support any Python, Ruby, NodeJS or PHP, Java and .NET, time to roll-out Elixir, of course, Elixir (and Rust. We need Rust).\n\nWe need to have more auto-healing on the high-availability clusters. We need more performance out of our multi-protocol ssh proxy. We need work on our Ceph Implementation. We need to get the Debian package generation streamlined and faster. We need… great ideas on how to make Platform.sh even better.\n\nDirectly reporting to our VP of Infrastructure and in close interaction with our Engineering and Customer Support teams, you will be responsible for:\n\n\n* cloud operations: configure clusters, deploy stuff, follow-up on alerts, help customer support debug issues.\n\n* automating all of the above so they can instead drink margaritas (or non-alcoholic beverages, of course)\n\n* creating systems, tools & processes that will enhance our support and operations efficiency\n\n* improving service quality, discipline and reliability throughout lifecycle\n\n* monitoring operating objectives, streamline and automate intervention\n\n* continuous learning from Operations experience, modeled as software\n\n\n\n\nMust have :\n\nThe ideal candidate:\n\n\n* has proven successful experience in an operations role, \n\n* has demonstrated the ability to successfully manage cloud-based infrastructure for a fast growing organization\n\n* has experience with containerization technologies\n\n* has had exposure to cloud services (AWS)\n\n* understands how an OS works, knows networking, how git works, and the constraints of a distributed system\n\n* Puppet experience\n\n* is proficient in Python (Golang a plus)\n\n\n\n\nNice to have :\n\n\n* knowledge of Magento Ecommerce, Symfony, Drupal, eZ Platform, or Typo3\n\n* relational database skills\n\n* public speaking experience\n\n* ability to kick ass in Chess\n\n* proficiency in Rust grants you bonus points\n\n\n\n\nNote: We don't like stress, so we build everything to be robust and resiliant, but stuff does break. This is a role with on-call duties. If page-duty fills you with dread... well, this might not be a fit. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

If you’re looking for an exciting, high-growth opportunity with an award-winning, cutting-edge company, this could be just the job for you\n\nFor its PaaS solution https://platform.sh is looking for an Operations and Service Reliability Engineer with a taste for Python and Go, great Linux system understanding, and a real hunger for the challenges of building robust, distributed systems.\n\nPlatform.sh is a PaaS shrouded in a lot of black magic (we can consistently clone a whole running cluster, with its state, databases, indexes in a matter of seconds). We need… great ideas on how to make Platform.sh even better.\n\nDirectly reporting to our VP of Infrastructure and in close interaction with our Engineering and Customer Support teams, you will be responsible for:\n\n\n* cloud operations: configure clusters, deploy stuff, follow-up on alerts, help customer support debug issues.\n\n* automating all of the above so they can instead drink margaritas (or non-alcoholic beverages, of course)\n\n* creating systems, tools & processes that will enhance our support and operations efficiency\n\n* improving service quality, discipline and reliability throughout lifecycle\n\n* monitoring operating objectives, streamline and automate intervention\n\n* continuous learning from Operations experience, modeled as software\n\n\n\n\nMust have :\n\nThe ideal candidate:\n\n\n* has proven successful experience in an operations role, \n\n* has demonstrated the ability to successfully manage cloud-based infrastructure for a fast growing organization\n\n* has experience with containerization technologies\n\n* has had exposure to cloud services (AWS)\n\n* understands how an OS works, knows networking, how git works, and the constraints of a distributed system\n\n* Puppet experience\n\n* is proficient in Python (Golang a plus)\n\n\n\n\nNice to have :\n\n\n* knowledge of Magento Ecommerce, Symfony, Drupal, eZ Platform, or Typo3\n\n* relational database skills\n\n* public speaking experience\n\n* ability to kick ass in Chess\n\n* proficiency in Rust grants you bonus points\n\n\n\n\nNote:We don't like stress, so we build everything to be robust and resiliant, but stuff does break. This is a role with on-call duties. If page-duty fills you with dread... well, this might not be a fit. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
