About the Role

We are looking for an experienced full-stack Javascript/Typescript developer to join our team. If you’re excited about having a meaningful impact on a small but growing development team, and value the freedom to tackle problems in creative ways, this role could be a great fit.

Our stack includes Angular on the frontend and TypeScript on the backend, with some legacy services in JavaScript that we are actively migrating.

1. Product Enhancements

   We’re creating new ways to support modern weight loss by enhancing the customer experience and equipping clinics with better tools to grow their business.

2. Platform Modernization

   Over the past decade, the development world has evolved with tools that enhance both the developer and user experience. We’re investing in updating our platform to adopt modern tools and best practices, enabling us to build and improve features faster. This is an exciting area where you can make an outsized impact.

What You’ll Do

• Balance shipping new features with investing time in platform improvements.
• Apply modern product development practices and modern JavaScript knowledge, including experience with modern frameworks, to drive impactful solutions.
• Build new features with hands-on coding while collaborating closely with the team.
• Lead technical projects by designing elegant, maintainable solutions that align with product and business goals.

Preferred Experience

• Strong experience in product engineering principles and product team collaboration. You measure success by solving customer problems, not just by the code you write.
• Expertise in applying domain-driven design principles to system architecture. Experience with modern Node.js frameworks (e.g., Nest, Redwood) is a plus.
• Familiarity with complex refactoring projects or migrations is a strong advantage.

New team mates no longer have to be burdened by diving deep in our legacy application. We are currently working towards migrating all customers to our new single page web app so we can say goodbye to our legacy app. Once that's done, we'll start building a new product that will make our app available to anyone who wants to try it out in just a few clicks. We are looking for senior and mid-experienced programmers who are willing, friendly and who enjoy their work.

About Secfix

Secfix automates security compliance for SMBs in Europe. We help companies get and stay compliant with standards such as ISO 27001, GDPR, TISAX, and SOC 2 in weeks rather than months. 

Our platform integrates with a company’s tech stack (such as GCP, AWS, Azure, Google Workspaces, Jira, Gitlab, etc.), automatically extracts the data needed for compliance, and creates a checklist to become and remain certified. About the role:

As a small team, we are all generalists and constantly picking up new challenges. Regarding product and code, we’re looking to work with experienced people who can pick a problem and solve it. We use TypeScript and want to build more scalable systems so we can continuously make progress on a solid foundation. We don’t expect you to have a background in everything we use but expect strong JavaScript fundamentals and a background working with Angular and TypeScript. Every feature that is being ideated will go through you, and every future front-end engineer hire will live the engineering values that you will shape with us and live by. You'll get first-hand exposure to what it means to build and scale a remote software startup.

• You love iterating and taking pride in owning customer-facing features from ideas to going live and strive for great visuals and usability.

• You have strong JavaScript fundamentals working with Angular and TypeScript with more than 7 years of experience in front-end development. We don’t expect you to have a background in every technology we use but you are able to learn quickly on your own.

Responsibilities

• You’ll design, develop, and maintain new user-facing features with beautiful and scalable UI components using Angular and TypeScript

Merchstack is looking for an experienced backend engineer to help architect, build, and evolve our SaaS product on the backend. We’re seeking engineers who think about the backend in terms of systems, reuse, flexibility, and performance.

To succeed in this role, you will need a breadth of experience working in modelling data structures for data-rich applications, a passion for object-oriented design patterns and an unparalleled ability to think about individual work items, holistically across the design of the entire application.

What you’ll do

• Design and implement new GraphQL queries and mutations to either meet customer demand or UI/UX requirements.
• Contribute to the overall stability and performance of our application.
• Optimize our application for maximum speed and scalability.
• Build new data providers for Merchstack in the form of composable plugins.
• Take ownership of dependencies in our code base i.e. ensuring that we are reasonably patched.
• Work with the VP of Engineering to plan out new prospective pieces of work ahead of time, such as architectural design and infrastructure requirements.
• Work with DevOps / DBA functions to ensure that new and existing features are being backed and observed by appropriate hardware/infrastructure.

What we look for

• 4+ years building object-oriented data-driven applications at scale.
• Confident in leveraging relational data sources at scale, this includes but is not limited to a deep understanding of data cardinality, data structures and efficient client-side memory management for large datasets and fast-moving dimensions.
• Experience leveraging IoC containers for dependency injection, with a full understanding of the 3 main dependency injection lifecycles.
• Advanced Typescript knowledge and desire to use more advanced Typescript concepts to reduce boiler-plate.
• Will not write O(n!) code.
• Good understanding of Internet protocols: TCP/IP, HTTP, WebSocket and demonstratable web performance tuning skills
• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (version control, tooling, testing, etc.)
• An active Github account, showcasing your own projects
• Deep experience leveraging ORMs for data modelling and data access concerns. Should understand both the pros and cons of using an ORM vs. raw queries.

About the Role

We are looking for a senior full stack engineer who is driven by building high-quality products. You will work closely with our design, product, and mortgage teams to shape the product we give to our customers. Our ideal candidate may have specialties in some areas but is comfortable operating across all parts of the stack and building end-to-end features.

Some of the technical problems you would work on include:

• Building customer-facing APIs
• Building embeddable, white-labeled UI elements
