We value radical transparency, striving for excellence and improvement while treating each other with kindness and generosity. If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.\n\n\n\n\n\nRole\n\nAs a Platform Engineer, you must be able to work in an ambiguous environment with an optimistic attitude, that can easily (and happily) wear many hats. You are able to uphold our companyโs principles and values while adding to our unique culture. The right person will be responsible for maintaining, scaling, and monitoring existing infrastructure, including cloud machines, bare-metal servers, and a Kubernetes cluster, to allow Chorus One to provide secure and reliable industry-leading Proof-of-Stake validation services. This includes routine and emergent application updates, monitoring of systems, timely response to alerts and on-call phone calls, as well as rapid response to mitigate site outages.\n\n* Develop software related to blockchain data extraction or interchain communication, on an as-needed basis.\n\n* Reason about and improve the security properties of infrastructure. Secure key management, server hardening, and intrusion detection are important themes.\n\n\n\n\nWhat we are looking for\n\n\n* Strong Linux skills, including a deep understanding of the kernel and userspace.\n\n* Strong networking skills, including a deep understanding of routing, forwarding, and load-balancing.\n\n* Has prior experience with a range of orchestration and configuration management tools. We use Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform and Salt.\n\n* Is able to develop tooling, and monitoring solutions where none exist and can debug unreliable software - many of the projects we run are of alpha quality.\n\n* Possesses good knowledge of security as it relates to bare metal and cloud-based infrastructure.\n\n* We expect candidates to know one programming language in addition to Bash, and we test for this with a coding interview. We donโt expect you to be a seasoned software engineer, but we do expect you to be comfortable writing small programs. Popularly used languages at Chorus One are Python, Golang and Rust.\n\n* Is able to work independently, with a high level of ambiguity and undefined requirements.\n\n* Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related subject is a plus, but not strictly needed.\n\n* You are able to work the following timezone: Switzerland +/- 6 hours.\n\n\n\n\nJob Type: Full-time\n\nOur Offer\n\n\n* Autonomy and ownership in a friendly and supportive work environment and the opportunity for rapid growth.\n\n* Competitive fixed compensation (USD 80k - 150k) + equity.\n\n* All-expense paid quarterly team retreats at various destinations (Coronavirus permitting). Past retreats took place in Egypt, Serbia, Kenya, USA, South Korea, and Dubai.\n\n* Remote, but not alone. We are a strong global collaborative environment.\n\n* Remote working budget (Laptop, co-working space, etc)\n\n* Personal development budget\n\n* Gather experience and build your network in the vibrant crypto ecosystem.\n\n* Learn about state-of-the-art protocols that lay the foundation for an open, transparent, and programmable financial system.\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

For example, one week you could be involved in all things Platform Engineering 99% of the time, but the next week splitting your time between investor relations, an RFP for a new supplier, and writing a blog post for our social media- so whatever the company needs to prioritise to meet its goals, whilst utilising your potential.ย \nAbout the role\nThis role sits within our Tech Guild and you will work in an agile cross-functional team working collaboratively with other Dev/Software Development peers to deliver against complex objectives. We are looking for game-changing Dev Leads to help us define and own the software development lifecycle. Tens of thousands of retail customers and institutions are staking billions in assets through our infrastructure helping to secure protocols and earn rewards. Our mission is to increase freedom and speed of innovation through decentralized technologies.\n\n\nWe are a diverse team of around 50 people distributed all over the globe. We value radical transparency, striving for excellence and improvement while treating each other with kindness and generosity. If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.\n\n\nRole\n\nAs a Platform Engineer, you must be able to work in an ambiguous environment with an optimistic attitude, that can easily (and happily) wear many hats. You are able to uphold our companyโs principles and values while adding to our unique culture. As a member of our Team, you will broadly be responsible for working collaboratively with team members and partners across projects. The right person will be responsible for maintaining, scaling, and monitoring existing infrastructure, including cloud machines, bare-metal servers, and a Kubernetes cluster, to allow Chorus One to provide secure and reliable industry-leading Proof-of-Stake validation services. Leading with intellectual curiosity with a high standard of excellence as well as ensuring best practice across development, testing, and security.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nResponsibilities\n\n\n* Maintain, scale and monitor existing infrastructure, including bare metal servers, cloud machines, and a Kubernetes cluster, to allow Chorus One to provide secure and reliable industry-leading Proof-of-Stake validation services.\n\n* Institute monitoring and alerting systems for infrastructure. Enable other team members to attend to and troubleshoot problems as they arise.\n\n* Take all steps required to ensure maximum availability and uptime of maintained blockchain networks.

\nWeโre looking for fintech enthusiasts to join us in creating the financial infrastructure of tomorrow. Weโre building the first European Investment API to enable any financial institution to offer a broad range of investment products in their apps. Our view is backed by Europe's largest tech VCs (Earlybird, Notion Capital, Partech, HV Capital, ABN AMRO Ventures) by renowned fintech entrepreneurs (including Maximilian Tayenthal, founder of N26, and Felix Haas, founder of IDnow) and Bessemer Venture Partners in the USA.\n\nWeโre based in Berlin but would consider hiring remotely for this role. If you do want to move to Berlin though, weโre happy to support your relocation.\nAt Upvest, our vision is to make investing as easy as spending money. By enabling any business to offer investment opportunities, our goal is to empower anyone to invest. Today, we count 100+ talented people from 30 different countries.\n\n\nTeams Mission:\nThe Tooling tribe is responsible for enabling Upvestโs Operations, Risk and Banking teams with user-centric applications to allow them to execute their daily work. These key stakeholders require easily understood tools, which are closely aligned with their operational processes. The tribeโs effectiveness is fundamental to allow efficient handling of the increased volume of trades being processed through our Investment API. Many of these trades will come from Upvestโs latest client, Europeโs leading fintech; Revolut.\nThe tribe has many exciting plans for its products, amongst them the opportunity to extend its currently internal tools towards a commercial suite of back office tooling. \nUpvest is scaling fast and its operational departments are impacted most. Your challenge is to provide those teams with such effective tools that their headcount does not significantly need to rise; otherwise known as asymmetric scaling.\nRole Requirements:\n * You will have a firm grasp of UI / UX best practices and can capably ideate & prototype through lo-fi wireframes + collaborate with in house designers.\n * Haveย got a track record of taking initiative, someone who owns outcomes, bridges dependencies and pushes value for its stakeholders.\n * Be a sponge! We donโt need you to be a finance or trading industry expert, nor someone who codes GoLang in their spare time. But you will need to be able to absorb knowledge on complicated topics quickly (subledger reconciliation, mutual fund trading flow) and marry your expertise on product management best practices with that of Upvest.\n * Experience with agile software development methodologies allows you to build and deliver client features in bi-weekly sprints consistently. Youโre proficient at experimenting with the tribeโs ceremonies to make the teams more effective and engaged.\n * Knowledge ofย product managerโs toolkits - such as product discovery, ticketing and documentation software (e.g., JIRA, Linear, Confluence, Slite, Miro, etc.)\n \n\nRole Responsibilities:\n * Empower the Tooling Applications domain team to reach its full potential, working with 4-5 full stack engineers, 1 UX/UI designer and the tribeโs Product Lead and Head of Engineering.\n * Collaborate directly and build relationships with the Operations, Banking and Risk teams; understand their challenges to delight them with value-adding tools.\n * With guidance from your lead, you do effective tactical planning through OKRs and the domain roadmap, which you are responsible for maintaining.\n * Use your knowledge of the market and industry trends to influence and help shape the teamโs roadmap & vision.\n * Drive the effort to make the teamโs products easy to work for newcomers, by building up a comprehensive knowledge base and how-toโs using imaginative mediums.\n * Lead the charge to expand Upvestโs current API offering with a commercial back-office tooling product.\n \n\nWhat you can expect from this role:\n * Autonomy coupled with inspirational leadership: When we say empowered teams we mean it. In this role you will fully own the product success of your team and function.\n * Product-centricity throughout the organisation: At Upvest we highly value the importance of product and our Product teamโs work. No struggle for relevance that product people may encounter elsewhere.\n * Product Engineering culture: Teams are working together guided by joint OKRs and a clear roadmap. Collaborate closely with your engineering counterparts to deliver client value in a decoupled and dynamic manner.\n * An exceptional team: Upvestโs Product team is one of a kind when it comes to combining impactful work with a relaxed and fun atmosphere. We have established strong practices around feedback, team health and social events resulting in a team happiness score of 9.1 out of 10.\n * Continuous learning: The complex yet fascinating field of investments, building an API product on a state-of-the-art tech stack, and working with the most relevant fintechs and financial institutions provide for an incredibly rewarding learning experience. It is a great opportunity if you aspire to grow professionally and personally.\n \n\nWhy Upvest?\n * We're working on solving a hard problem: fixing the European securities financial infrastructure that empowers more people to be able to invest. You have the opportunity to contribute to this change.\n * We invest in you. From access to a personal coach, development budget and plenty of opportunities to grow in your role.\n * We take hiring seriously with a strong focus on keeping a high bar when interviewing (equally important is that we hire decent people, who are passionate about their craft and helping us achieve our shared mission).\n * While we're not quite fully-remote, we are committed to being a flexible employer, as we understand you don't have to be in the office to do your best work.\n * We live a culture of empowerment, trust (that we hire the best people and get out of their way) and openness (there's a greater advantage in sharing information than keeping it to ourselves).\n \n\nOur values:\n\n * Learn and grow. We aim high to shape our future. We give and request honest feedback knowing that we develop together. Progression over Perfection.\n * Team first. We make it easy for others. We value our differences and are open to others' opinions. We win and celebrate together! Team over Egos.\n * Own the outcome. Whether we win or we lose, we stand together. We are proactive and get the job done. Outcome over Process.\n * Tell the story. We always start with the why. We share knowledge to empower others. Transparency over Complexity.\n \n\nUpvest is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
