\nCollabora is looking for a Python Web Developer to join our in-house Business Applications Integration team. The team supports, develops and integrates the software and services used within the company to help deliver client projects and effectively run the business. The team is not client facing. Working in a friendly and highly cooperative environment with colleagues from every part of the company, you will help to deliver software and integrate services involved in planning, business intelligence, communications, project management, security and accounting.\n\n\nCollabora primarily uses Open Source Software applications to run its business processes (timelogging, invoicing, feedback, project management, asset management, communications, business intelligence...) integrating with other 3rd party SaaS applications (HRIS, ATS, Finance Accounting, Travel Booking). Some of our tools are developed in-house and others are customised from open source projects to suit our use cases. Examples of our software tools include: GitLab (with GitLab CI), Docker/Podman, Grafana, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SuiteCRM, Phabricator, OTRS, SnipeIT, Hugo, Ansible, and an in-house developed Django web application, among others.\n\n\n\nRequired Skills\n* Strong Python\n* 5+ years of application integration experience\n* Experience building for the web, especially using Django \n* Solid experience coding with REST APIs\n* Understanding of typical web architectures and stacks \n* A respectful and pragmatic approach to providing technical support \n* Some experience in PHP, JavaScript and Linux shell scripting \n* Good English proficiency (both verbal and written) \n* Ability to work in an online, globally distributed company \n\n\n\nAdditional Skills for Senior Applicants\n* Experience writing well-tested code in business critical systems (e.g. finance) \n* Familiarity with container-based working, e.g. Docker, Podman, Kubernetes \n* Experience in Business Applications Integration and Automation\n* Experience using, maintaining and designing CI \n* Experience with database schema design and optimisation \n* A solid grounding in Linux system and database administration and networking concepts \n* A positive approach to designing and developing applications with a variety of stakeholders\n* Experience building and using existing web APIs in order to integrate systems \n* Demonstrable technical writing skills (documentation, blogs) \n* Skills in other modern languages (Go/Rust/Ruby) and frameworks such as Laravel, Rails \n* Knowledge of security- and privacy-by-design principles \n* A willingness to mentor more junior engineers\n\n\n\n\n\nCollabora is a software consultancy specializing in bringing companies and the Open Source community together. emble Ltd is the company responsible for the development of emble, an app designed to make it easier for people to plan events with their friends. You will be joining a passionate team of four and be largely responsible for the progression of all backend architecture.\n\nWe’re looking for a skilled lead back end developer who’ll be able to work closely with us, continuing the development of the emble app by implementing new features, versions and architecture changes. We want someone who can help us further develop a solid foundation for the platform in order to support growth and scaling. You would be heavily involved with developing future iterations of the app (including versions for iOS and Android) as well as implementing user feature requests and updates.\n\nYou would be expected to travel to Birmingham 2 to 3 days per week - for the remainder of the week you would work from home. We are a member of e4f incubator, which means we’d be spending time at Innovation Birmingham (based in Birmingham’s Science Park) where we meet with mentors, investors and fellow startups. You’ll need to be comfortable with using Slack and our task management app Asana. You’d be working from 9am - 5:30pm every weekday but we will expect you to be on hand if needed beyond these hours. We sometimes start at 8 and finish at 7. \n\nYou need to be proactive and independent, and your time management has to be excellent. We’re a small, close-knit team and it’s imperative the successful candidate for this role can fit in with our approach! We are looking for an individual who is a team player, implicitly trustworthy, highly experienced and up for the challenge. The successful candidate will be willing to play a big part in the early stages of a startup and thrive on the challenges this poses. \n\nEvery day will throw up new challenges and you'll be heavily involved with decision making at a priority level.
