What is the job?ย

Crypto currency and decentralized finance (DeFi) are disruptive, visible, and rapidly growing areas of finance. Weโ€™re looking for a Cyber Security Analyst to join our security team, and tackle the unique security challenges our industry faces.

In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Cyber Security, supporting all areas of the business. Good security data drives informed business decisions, and this role is critical in delivering the actionable security data we need.ย

Weโ€™re a small organisation thatโ€™s growing fast, within a high-risk industry that faces regulatory challenges: weโ€™re looking for people who want the fast rate of change and complexity that comes with this territory. Facing capable and sophisticated threats, we need innovative open-minded people to help us deal with them.

What are we looking for?ย

  • You will enjoy working in an ambitious, fast-paced environment that requires critical and strategic thinking, and a willingness to collaborate to create highly visible work across multiple channels.

  • Working directly with the Head of Cyber Security, you will take visible ownership of security solutions and activities across the entire company, including:

    • Day to day security operations โ€“ monitoring and responding to security alerts and events.

    • Supporting the security team with new research, analysis, and programmes of change within the company.

    • Configure and manage security tooling used to protect company data, assets, and people.

    • Ongoing management and configuration of security tooling.

    • Support the devops team, and the wider business, with their security problems and questions.

  • Youโ€™ll be identifying new security trends, in both attack and defence, and be responsible for leading appropriate responses.

What do you need?

  • We have no formal education or certification requirements - the quality of your past work and skills will speak for itself.

  • You will need to have excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills โ€“ be prepared to show these off in the interview.

  • Evidence of ongoing work within the security ecosystem (e.g. GitHub projects, involvement in open source projects, or security research).

  • Good English verbal communication skills.

  • Assertive, passionate and not afraid to challenge conventions โ€“ strong opinions, loosely held.

  • Willingness and enthusiasm to learn, thrive and adapt in the fast-paced crypto services arena we operate within.ย

  • Ideally you will have operational experience with Google Workspaces, AWS, and a SIEM solution.

  • Solid understanding of the risks and threats SaaS and Cloud based services face โ€“ and how to deal with them.

  • Youโ€™ll need to demonstrate familiarity with MDM solutions, and understand security issues around end user devices like laptops and mobile phones, for a remote workforce.

Nice to haves:ย

  • Prior experience in FinTech and/or crypto is highly desirable โ€“ be prepared to explain how crypto currencies work, and the common security challenges.

  • Experience with Palo Alto products and technologies is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with encryption techniques and distributed teams, and a keen understanding of cryptocurrency, are distinct advantages.

Who are we?ย

At RDX Works (formally Radix DLT), we're a team of like-minded thinkers who have long been convinced that we're living in the earliest stages of a global financial revolution. This revolution is being fuelled by decentralized finance (or DeFi for short), which is enabling an assortment of pioneering developers and entrepreneurs to re-invent almost every financial product that is currently traded and invested in traditional markets, without requiring central authorities or siloed infrastructure. DeFi has captured a great deal of attention and investment in the crypto-aware niche, growing assets under management from $1 billion to $40 billion in less than a year. Impressive as its growth has been, its current market size isn't even a rounding error on the over $111 trillion held in traditional finance. We're focused on what it will take to go from billions to trillions.

RDX went back to first principles to come up with the right technical solutionโ€”the first layer-one protocol built specifically for mainstream DeFiโ€”and we have already tested out at over 1 million transactions per second. We're keenly aware that the need for an infinitely scalable platform is only one prerequisite among many for mass adoption, and we're also blazing new ground in the areas of purpose-built developer tools, user experiences, and regulatory integration.

We have forged a path deep into the future of what distributed ledger technology is going to look like and we need you to come and be part of the team that is making that happen right now.

Alternatively, if you feel like you donโ€™t match all of the requirements, we would love you to still apply anyway. We understand that confidence gaps and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting incredible candidates and we wouldnโ€™t want this to prevent us from meeting you; especially as we are big advocates of helping people learn & grow.

Please mention the word WISE when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMTguMTg5LjE4Ni4yNDQ=). This is a feature to avoid fake spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and instantly see they're human.

\nLocation: San Francisco, CA or Remote \n\nSummary\n\nThe Wikimedia Foundation is looking for an Application Security Engineer to join the Security team working to help protect Wikipedia and our other projects. You'll be working with other developers and security engineers to create new security features, review the security of other people's code, and help find and fix security bugs before they're exploited.\n\nYOU ARE ...a smart security practitioner with experience building and auditing security features in large scale systems. You understand the importance of testing and documentation, and common pitfalls in developing secure web applications. You must have a passion for the WMF mission. We do (almost) everything publicly, and volunteers can add arbitrary JavaScript to our site. That should both frighten and thrill you.\n\nYou will be joining a team responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of applications written in PHP, Python, Ruby, Lua, Perl, JavaScript (Node.js) among others, using both relational and key-value data storage mechanisms. (Don't worry, you don't need to have had experience with all of those technologies.)\n\nAs an Application Security Engineer, we’d like you to do these things:\n\n\n* Triage and remediate reported security issues\n\n* Work with Security team members to build and maintain security features\n\n* Review and deploy features developed by the Foundation and community members\n\n* Work with other development teams to ensure that they make safe architectural and implementation choices\n\n* Constantly poke and abuse our software to find bugs before attackers do\n\n\n\n\nWe’d like you to have these skills:\n\nThe right person is better than the right set of experiences, these are the traits we’ve identified make great additions to our team so far.\n\n\n* Two or more years of application security experience, including thorough understanding of issues documented in the OWASP Top Ten and CWE Top 25\n\n* Strong understanding of modern, object-oriented PHP development\n\n* Demonstrated ability to exploit and mitigate application-level vulnerabilities\n\n* Experience conducting software security reviews using a combination of source code inspection, manual testing, and automated scanning\n\n* Patience in explaining security issues and their implications on privacy to non-technical audiences\n\n* Sensitivity to the security challenges faced by participants in a large, international project\n\n* Strong understanding of cryptography as applied to web application security (encryption, hashing, PKI management), including analysis and implementation\n\n* Strong knowledge of the use of a scripting language for system administration and automation\n\n* Experience using Linux/Unix at the command line for tasks related to web application development and deployment ("DevOps")\n\n* Ability to maintain focus when working remotely\n\n\n\n\nAnd it would be even more awesome if you have this:\n\nIn addition to the basic skills needed for being successful these skills could set you apart from the pack!\n\n\n* Experience as a contributor in the Wikipedia or Wikimedia project communities\n\n* Experience contributing to a consensus-based open source project\n\n* Experience developing, maintaining, or administering authentication systems\n\n* In-depth experience developing or auditing client-side JavaScript\n\n* Experience with both relational and NoSQL/key-value data storage mechanisms\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Wikimedia Foundation\nThe Wikimedia Foundation is the non-profit organization that supports and hosts Wikipedia and several other Wikimedia free knowledge sites. Every month, the Wikimedia sites are accessed by more than a billion unique devices. Wikipedia consists of more than 40 million articles across hundreds of languages. Every month, more than 250,000 volunteer editors contribute to Wikipedia. Based in San Francisco, California, the Wikimedia Foundation is an audited, 501(c)(3) non-profit that is funded primarily through donations and grants. It currently employs over 300 staff members.\n\n\nAt the Foundation, we build technology to help people everywhere access Wikipedia, across devices and in nearly 300 languages. We engineer privacy for our readers and editors so they can safely and securely explore Wikipedia. \nSecurity and DevOps Ninja in Training\n\nIf you need to be making an impact instead of just keeping the lights on, if you thrive on being constantly challenged, and if you soak up tech knowledge and certifications like a sponge, then read on…\n\nAt Cloud Quarterback we provide devops and security services and the security part of the business is expanding. As part of the company growth, we need someone who in the next year can do this:\n\n\n* Quickly learn and adapt to client systems and processes\n\n* Provide backend / 2nd level application and devops support to clients across the country\n\n* Write slick back end and automation code\n\n* Make servers and applications dance using configuration management and automation tools\n\n* Provide a friendly, outstanding client experience\n\n* Interface directly with clients in a co-operative and constructive way\n\n* Solve problems every day\n\n* Get involved in implementing security controls\n\n* Get involved in writing technical and security policy documents\n\n* Contribute ideas and feedback on new products and services\n\n* Be certified to at least one industry security certification\n\n* Implement technical solutions\n\n\n\n\nWhile you could be anyone, we realistically need someone with a systems or programming / devops background who has a keen interest in all things relating to security and privacy. You’ll have to be able to do a few of those things day one, but not all of them. As an example this might be you:\n\n\n* Bachelor's degree\n\n* Proven success in a client facing role such as sales, support, or customer service experience\n\n* Previously described as something similar to a “Tech Swiss Army Knife” by awestruck co-workers or friends\n\n* Excellent Google-Fu\n\n* Passion for security\n\n* You could be a bit of an introvert but still like to be sociable, you're definitely not a misanthrope, and you're positive and friendly by default.\n\n* You have the ability to work on projects with others and complete tasks solo when required\n\n* You like learning and getting things done way more than you like reading Reddit or watching cats dance\n\n* Highly flexible and adaptable\n\n* Comfortable with thinking laterally and prefer to either jump right in or read the barest amount of documentation to get started.\n\n* Working in consulting means chaos, you can adapt, respond, and negotiate with everyone - clients and coworkers alike - with a clear head\n\n* You probably know at least one programming or scripting language really well (eg. Powershell / Ruby / Python)\n\n* You wonder why most programmers can’t understand systems and why so many sysadmins can’t code\n\n* You’re operating system agnostic\n\n\n\n\nWe’re 100% remote workers and catch up in person twice a year (once at BlackHat), and encourage access to a local co-working environment in order to maximize your success. We also offer health insurance and retirement savings\n\nYou can be anywhere as long as you’re in the USA, although it would be preferable if you were on the West Coast or able to work a similar timezone to PST. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Teaching, DevOps, InfoSec, Education, Cloud, Ruby and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n

\nHi! We're looking for a Software Developer to join our growing development team. If you've ever wanted to work for an innovative software company, in great environment with great people, this is your chance. We’re a security software-as-a-service company so you’ll be involved both in our day-to-day software development as well as getting exposure to our security efforts.\n\nQ: Ok.  Who are you guys?\n\nA: We’re Wombat Security Technologies. We’re comprised of a some really smart white hat security hackers, researchers from CMU, software developers and lot of hard working and friendly faces. We also really like pie.\n\nQ: What would I be working on?\n\nA: You know all those data breaches your hear about in the news? Most of them started when a bad guy targeted an employee with a phishing attack. You’ll be working on our cloud-based SaaS user risk management and training service. Our customers are mostly large enterprise organizations that are under attack by some pretty nasty bad guys. They use our platform to deliver security education to their employees and figure out who needs extra help.Your job will be to make our customers' experience of securing their users from attack delightful and beautiful.\n\nQ: Can you tell me a little more about your product?\n\nA: Sure, we have several different ways that we can deliver security training to end users as well as several different ways to assess the their security knowledge. One of the really fun ways we test the user is thinking like the bad guys. We send the end users a simulated phishing message. If they fall for it (they click our link, open our attachment, etc.), we show them training right away. It's an unconventional approach to changing user behavior and it works (hint: we have data). Wombat is in a growing space to say the least. If you ever wanted to learn more about cybersecurity and cutting-edge attacks, this is the where to do it. You’ll get to help simulate evil, figure out how to fight evil, and give our customers data that they can use to protect their organization.\n\nQ: Where is this position located?\n\nA: Preferably you’re located in Pittsburgh, PA where our HQ office is located in the Strip District. We’d also like to talk if you’re in the DC metro area, or Denver, CO. That said, we’re open to remote (a lot of us are remote) if you’re the right match. We value productivity and results over butts in seats.\n\nQ: What will my day-to-day be like as a developer on the team?\n\nA: You’ll be working on a key component that have high value and visibility to the organization. It’s a polyglot environment--you might write some C# and then jump into java, before ending the day working on some javascript. You’ll keep in touch with the team using Slack, Google Hangouts, and even an ol' IP phone if you’d prefer. \n\nQ: What tools do I have at my disposal?\n\nA: Whatever enables you to do your best work (Within reason. A Tesla won’t help your write code faster, sorry). Most of our developers use a Mac or an Ubuntu laptop.\n\nQ: What hours will I work?\n\nA: We work typical office hours —  but value productivity, performance, and results: happy customers and code shipped. We’re in a competitive space, so sometimes there are long hours. But we all have families so we aim for a good work-life balance. Yes, we know everyone says that but seriously, many people here have kids or super likable dogs (or the rare acceptable cat). There are occasional late nights, but we get the balance thing.\n\nQ: What technology do you use?\n\nA: We're built entirely within Amazon Web Services. Sample of our stack: Linux, load balancers, auto-scaling, sidekiq, redis, ansible, git, Splunk, HIDS, two-factor auth, disk encryption, and a lot of cool security stuff that you probably aren't used to seeing. Also coffee (optional but recommended). \n\nQ: What benefits do you offer?\n\nA: The salary is competitive and depends on your experience. We offer the following:\n\n\n* Medical, dental, and vision insurance\n\n* 401k with company match\n\n* Time off for vacations, illness and holidays\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to InfoSec, C, C Plus Plus, Developer, Digital Nomad, Amazon, Education and SaaS jobs that are similar:\n\n $75,000 — $120,000/year\n

The Gist\nWe're a stealth mode education start-up in the Los Angeles area that is re-inventing the way institutions utilize technology. The founders of the company were instructors themselves at universities so we have an intimate knowledge of how desperately this area needs to be properly served. We set out to build a solution to this problem and have since received nothing but positive support and feedback from many large players in the industry. Although there are many moving parts to what we are trying to accomplish, our flagship product runs as a Ruby on Rails web application that makes heavy use of Amazon’s cloud hosting and services environment.\n\n \n\n\n\nWhat we’re looking for\nThe definition of “DevOps” is somewhat controversial, but we prefer the one from http://theagileadmin.com/what-is-devops/: 'System administrators participating in the product development process alongside developers and using a many of the same techniques for their systems work.' We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our small but talented web team to help ensure our application infrastructure is as scalable, robust, and secure as possible. We are flexible on location and are open to a remote developer as long as you are a strong communicator and have proven experience working remotely. \n\nOur ideal candidate is an savvy sysadmin with experience working in an agile environment. Our customers deserve the best data protection we can give them so a background in InfoSec is also a huge bonus.\n\n\n \n\n\n\n What you’ll be doing\nYou will be working alongside our current DevOps Engineer on a team of ~10 developers. As the company and product are still quite young, you will have a great opportunity to provide input on infrastructure related decisions across our product line. Primarily, you will be responsible for helping estimate, provision, automate, and monitor the infrastructure for our applications. As part of this process, you will need to develop risk and threat analyses along with mitigation and response strategies. You will also be asked to deliver monitoring and usage reports to the founders from time to time. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Teaching, DevOps, InfoSec, Education, Cloud, Scala, Ruby, Admin, Engineer and Sys Admin jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n
